This is a story about love. I hope you enoy!!! Love is Real chapter 1 Ronnie was sitting at home channel surfing, hoping to find something worthwhile and enjoyable to watch on tv. But as usual, nothing was on that appealed to him. It had been a long day at work, and he really just needed to relax and enjoy his personal time. Sometimes the tv could provide that, but not today and usually not often. Being summertime, there was no football to watch or playback on the dvr. He knew he could occupy his time working in the yard or cleaning house, and while as rewarding as that is, he wanted to just relax and enjoy himself. Sure, he could go fishing or just go for a boat ride, but that wasn't what he wanted to do...again. He has done that plenty of times this summer already, especially this past week (Ronnie lives on a bayou that feeds the river). And while he loves fishing and going out in the boat, he just wants a little change. What he wanted, or really needed, was companionship. Ronnie doesn't have any friends that live nearby. His best friend, Chet, lives a little over 60 miles away. It's his own fault though because Ronnie is the one that moved away four years ago. He wanted to live on the cypress swamps. He wanted to live in a place that he could be selfsufficient, if need be. And besides, his best friend really isn't even a friend anymore. Chet pretty much abandoned their long friendship when he found out that Ronnie liked guys...not girls. Oh well, life goes on. It's been five years since Ronnie had a true friend. It has also been five years since he had a boyfriend. Oh how things can change. One day he had a best friend, several other friends and a boyfriend. And then the next day it was all gone. Well, that's really a figure of speech. It didn't happen quite that quickly...but almost. His friends already suspected that he was into guys and that his friend/roommate was his boyfriend. His family suspected it also. Hell, they pretty much knew it for a fact. Although Ronnie hadn't come out to his friends or family, they pretty much had it figured out correctly, even though Ronnie looks and acts like your typical, everyday guy. But his live-in boyfriend situation was pretty obvious to those who knew him. And Ronnie didn't much care about what they thought. He simply never felt the need to tell them who he preferred to have sex with, or for that matter, who he chose to love. His friends were obviously homophopic because they pretty much just quit coming around. And whenever he would and suggest they get to together for whatever activity he suggested, they always came up with a reason to decline. Oh well, good ridance to the homophobes he thought. His relationship with his bf was on the rocks already, so he decided to just say "fuck it" and broke up with him. And that is when is decided he needed to make a change. He decided he would wash his hands of everyone and just move away. So here he is four years later, living his life on his terms, and enjoying his peace and solitude. He loves his home, his cat, his hobbies and his family. No, his family didn't abandon him. They don't necessarily approve of his sexual preference, but they still show him respect and treat him as they always had. Yet, something is missing in his life. He knows what it is. He just hasn't done anything about it. And honestly, he is not sure he can do anything about it. He turns off the tv and walks out onto the back porch which overlooks the bayou. As he sits on the porch with his legs tangling over the edge, looking at the beauty of the bayou and the cypress trees, he wishes that he had someone there that he could share it with. Someone who is more than just a friend. Someone that he could put his arm around. Someone that he could lay his head on their shoulder and enjoy the scenery together. But how? How can he find that someone. He thinks about going to the gay bar in the city on saturday night. He thinks, 'That might work. However, it would probably take many weekends of that to find the right guy. But it would be worth the effort and the time'. But, then again, he knows he is not the gay bar "type". He doesnt really care about dancing or the aspect of cruising a gay bar. Any bar for that matter. He has done that scene before and really doesn't want to go down that road again. Damn, he thinks, why did gay. com have to shut down. He remembers how easy it was to meet guys online there. Hell, thats how he met his last bf. And the only popular website that is available now is grindr. And he knows that grindr sucks, he has fiddled with that before. But what the hell, maybe it has changed since the last time he viewed it. He gets out his phone, downloads grindr and creates a profile and posts a recent pic. Of course, he crops off his head because he dosn't want the pervs to know who he is and possibly recognize him at walmart or wherever else. Nope. grindr hasn't changed. There are some nice guys on there to chat with, but no one who would suit him. And of course there were the usual pervs and "daddies". Well there are a few hot guys on there, but they are all about the 'right now' and most are taking "prev". He thinks to himself 'to each his own, just not my type'. Ronnie did not do 'hookups', at least not anymore. He had done that before years ago but he did not want to go down that path again. Afterall, he was interterested in finding a meaningful relationship, not merely a one night stand. So, after a couple of weeks on grindr he uninstalls the app. Oh well, he says to himself, 'at least I tried'. He awakens on saturday morning with the sun just barely making shadows. After breakfast and a shower, he decides to do some grocery shoppng in the nearby small town. He likes to cook, but he hates to shop for groceries, so he just wanted to get what he needed and get out of the crowded store as quickly as possible. He was in the produce section picking through the bell peppers looking for the better ones when suddenly he was bumped into by someone and was pushed up against the display . He angrily turned around to see who the rude perpetraitor was, and he saw that it was a rather large woman with a rather smug look on her face. She immediately apologized, but he knew that it wasn't sincere. He just glared at her throwing as many darts as he could. She quickly walked away. Damn, he thought 'see this is why I hate grocery shopping'. He turned backed around to continue to look through the bell peppers. After finding what he needed, he headed for the checkout and was almost there when he realized that he had forgotten to get beer. He was pissed off now. He just wanted out of there and return to the confines of his home...his sanctuary. He put the 30 pack in his buggy and turned around when he almost stepped right into someone standing behind him. He immediately backed up having a shocked look on his face, but quickly that shocked look turned into a smile. He was staring into the blue eyes of a really cute young man. end of chapter 1 feel free to email me with your thoughts of the story, I would appreciate the feedback. thanks for reading
