The garage door closed and Marcus sat in his car for several minutes. JW was standing outside to greet him when he stepped out, Marcus smiled and gave him a quick kiss and then ducked back into his car to grab his brief case, "So how was the rest of your day with your kids?" JW smiled and said it was great and then opened the door into the house. Marcus walked inside; saw the washing machine and the dryer already running, the girls watching a cartoon, Luke chewing on a shoe, Hank sitting in the kitchen and Donna cooking something. Marcus was dead tired, stressed out and just wanted to turn all the lights off, watch ESPN and fall asleep on the couch. When he walked into view he was greeted with a roar and screams of excitement, even Luke managed to stagger over to him and wave his hand in the air at him. He did his best to say hello and ask how everyone's day was but suddenly he felt cramped and closed in. Marcus said that he was going to change his clothes and darted off to the bedroom. He closed the door behind him and leaned against it for a second. The noise from the living room was still loud but at least it was muffled now, he stripped off his business suit, shirt, socks and underwear. He slipped into a pair of gym shorts and fell chest first into the bed, pulled a pillow over his head and closed his eyes. Marcus woke up and felt something heavy sitting on his back and then he heard a child laughing. Marcus pulled the pillow off his head and looked over his right shoulder and saw Kira sitting on his back and JW behind her, both of them were rubbing his back. Marcus smiled and sleepily said, "That's perfect!" After a while JW told Kira to go check on her brother, she bounced off the bed and out of the room, JW continued to massage Marcus back and shoulders, "That bad of a day? I am sorry that you had to show up with me in court." Marcus shook his head and yawned, "Had nothing to do with that, found out today at work that I am considered a joke and that I am a pussy." JW furrowed his eyebrow and dug his thumbs into Marcus muscles along his spine, "Did someone say that to you?" Marcus nodded his head, "Turns out I am absolutely hated at work. I thought I was doing so well too, but I was basically threatened and called a pathetic pussy who is weak and ignorantÉ" Marcus trailed off and closed his eyes again. After several minutes of JW massaging Marcus, he opened his eyes again and looked to JW, "Dude today was horrible and everything that I thought I was at work is now questionable. I need to change everything about who I am and what I represent." JW shook his head and pulled his hands off Marcus. JW crawled off Marcus and was walking out of the room when Marcus said, "Stop! Why are you leaving?" JW shrugged and said from the door said, "I think you are fine the way you are now. There is no way I would support changing the most loving, kind, gentile and compassionate man that I have ever met." JW left the bedroom. Marcus pushed his head back into the bed and thought to himself that JW just does not understand what its like to have to deal with the pressure of his job and the expectations that he had to meet. Then he realized how stupid of a thought that was, JW being a gay in an alpha male fire department would have to be hell. He climbed out of the bed and put on a tank top, it was way to short, it must have been JW's. Marcus changed into a tee shirt and walked out to the living room, he sat down in the armchair and Kira walked up to him and stood in front of him staring. Marcus looked down to her and asked, "What's going on Kira?" Kira stood their blankly and finally asked, "What's wrong?" Marcus smiled at her, "Nothing, what makes you say that?" Kira to climb up in the chair and wiggled down besides Marcus and looked up at him, "Your so tall, there is almost no room for me." Marcus laughed and then looked at Hank and Donna who looked horrified that Marcus was so close to their grandchild. Kira looked around the room and then back to Marcus, "Are you sure nothing is wrong? Because you sure do look like there is something wrong." Marcus smiled and pulled his arm from behind Kira and put it up on the armrest, "You can tell? Ya, I had a bad day at work, a lot of people do not like me there." Kira frowned and crossed her arms, "Well I like you." Marcus thanked her and JW walked in from the kitchen and looked at his parents, "Jesus you two guys need to relax." JW looked to Kira, "So what are you guys talking about?" Kira uncrossed her arms and tossed her hands into the air, "I am just telling Marc that he is fine and his friends at work are stupid!" Marcus looked to JW who was nodding his head. Donna had finished cooking dinner, everyone piled into the kitchen and ate quickly. Marcus thanked Donna and asked what she did different and she excitedly started to explain the simple meal, JW shook his head knowing that Marcus was simply being overly polite. Hank and JW walked into the living room and the girls followed them but JW sent them back into the kitchen to help clean up. Hank looked over his shoulder and then back to JW, "So what are you going to do when you're at work?" JW looked confused and then realized what his father was saying to him, "WellÉ" Hank nodded his head, "Exactly. Is Marcus up to it?" JW didn't want to answer the question and like an angel from heaven Luke walked out of the kitchen a staggered to JW with his arms held out, "Dada." JW felt his fathers eyes staring at him as he picked up his son and sat Luke down next to him. Luke twisted in the couch for a second and then put his head against JW's side. The girls ran out of the kitchen screaming and laughing, JW told them to head into the bathroom and shower, they had to go to school in the morning. Though Leah fiercly objected she finally conceded and Kira followed her into the bathroom. Marcus and Donna walked out of the kitchen laughing until Donna sat down in the armchair and Marcus sat down on the floor. JW looked to Marcus and then to his dad, "Why don't you ask him?" Hank shrugged, "Marcus are you going to watch the kids when JW is at work?" Marcus smiled, "Oddly enough me and JW had talked about this a few days ago." JW knew this was a lie but was thankful Marcus knew to answer this question seriously, "Yes I plan on taking care of the kids when he is at work. When school is going on it should not be that hard, but on the weekends and the summers, it will be a lot more of challenge. But it should also be a lot more fun. Everyone can sleep in and we don't have to keep a schedule, I almost always work out of my office and rarely head into the Metroplex any more." Marcus was looking at Hank and knew he was not satisfied with that answer and Marcus continued, "Look it's going to be really tough at first but I have a pretty big advantage to start off with. Leah and Kira are mostly able to take care of the basics and Luke is a pro in potty training. I have a sharp learning curve and I don't have all the answers right now. If I have problems and for what ever reason and I cant get a hold of JW at work, I had planned on calling you or the other set of grand parents." Hank leaned back into the couch, he seemed pleased and a little shocked with this answer. JW knew it was the statement that his parents wanted to hear and this did more than anything he could ever say to get them to accept them as a couple. Hank picked up Luke and sat quietly patting his grandsons back. Marcus looked over to Donna, "How is JW so big and well you two areÉ" Donna snorted and laughed, "Short?" Marcus smiled and nodded his head and Donna folded her hands into her lap, "Not really sure how he got to 6'4, there is no one on either side of the family that is tall. Tall, lean and so handsome for that matter." Hank glanced at Donna and smiled, "All the males are short and fat on my side of the family and on Hanks side of the family he is by far the tallest and probably the skinniest. So it had to come from his side I guess." Donna smiled and started to ask Marcus about his past and she couldn't believe how little he actually knew about his younger years, Marcus just shrugged and explained that he really did not know anything about his parents and really didn't care. Hank pushed Luke into the middle of the couch to lay flat and said "Good night." He walked out of the living room and into the bedroom. Donna followed shortly after Hank, she stood up, kissed Luke on the head as he slept and said, "Good night," and then walked towards the bedroom. She stopped and turned to JW, "Do you want us to take Luke as well? You two had a hard day and that bed is big enough for all of us to sleep in." JW shook his head and pointed at the couch, "Honestly I was just going to leave him here tonight, leave the door open and if he needs anything I will hear him." Donna nodded her head and disappeared into the bathroom. Marcus and JW sat quietly in the living room for some time; JW was watching Luke and Marcus watched JW. Marcus stood up and walked into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. As Marcus turned around and started to gulp down the glass he watched JW come into the kitchen. JW walked up to Marcus and wrapped his arms around him and put his head into his chest, "We really need to stop having these exciting days. It would be really nice to just have an average day." Marcus laughed and kissed the top of JW's head, "Oh the news gets better, you and me have the biggest meeting of my life coming up in five days, I am hosting a client here and I really need you to be here for it if you can?" JW pulled his head off Marcus, "I can do that but what is going on?" Marcus told him about the day at work, how the client wanted to meet here for a BBQ and by the end of the story JW just shook his head, "How the hell do gay people make it in this world?" Marcus shrugged, "Who knows? But I am ready to crawl into bed and get my dick sucked." JW grinned and walked out of the kitchen and covered Luke up on the couch and followed Marcus into the bedroom. The few minutes that passed from when Marcus and JW crawled into bed they had already fallen asleep.
