The characters, incidents, and dialogues are products of the author's imagination and are not to be construed as real. Any resemblance to actual events or persons, living or dead, is completely coincidental. "I will give you $500 bucks if you get that guy up at the bar to fall in love with you." Mark said to his good buddy max nonchalantly. "I will, just wait" max confidently replied. "Oh yeah we'll see... I know he isn't cause everyone in the county tried to get with him, and he won't even show interest, and damn! He sure is hot! But the offer still stands if you think you can get him." "Its my time to waste" max coolly replied. Chris was sitting at the bar, which was not often since he hated coming here, it seemed so degrading to him. He had another beer, his last one for the night; he figured that he would go home to his lonely bed for one more night; it wasn't like he was looking for a fuck anyway. Chris had a hard life to say the least; before his 18th birthday his parents died leaving him alone in this world that was just opening up to him. He couldn't stand to think of that night, when they left him for good. He swore he felt his mom's hand squeeze his even though the doctors said the only thing that was keeping her alive was the machine. Deep down he knew that she was there, and could hear his cries. His father died in the car instantly leaving not even the time for Chris to hope there might still be a dim chance for him to pull thru and for things to go back to normal. They pulled the respirator tubes and she kept breathing, for two hours. And then it stopped; his whole life came crashing into the ground like a train at the ends of the tracks. He barely graduated high school that year, and knew there was not enough time for college. His parents left him money a lot actually having taken out $1,000,000.00 life insurance polices on each other, but with a farm he knew that would easily be used. He went to working full time, pushing memories aside and living day by day, he took that money and paid of all debt they had left him. Leaving him a good chunk left which he put in the bank. Running the ranch was not like it had been before, it was different, things had changed and people changed. He was starting to lose money and he dare not take any from what was in the bank so he decided to do the only thing he could see him self doing. Becoming a police officer. Sure the hours were shitty and the pay not great, but it was just him, and he didn't really need the money. The training he went thru was grueling but it all paid off, having been used to the farm work he was fit, and made the classic stocky 6 foot cop image. He had been on the force for 6 years now. He had just gotten off his shift and some force of nature brought him here, to this bar. Max saw him walk in, he always seen him walk in. He wondered if he ever saw max. He never saw the handsome stranger look his way but somehow knew that he saw him there. Max was sure his friends took notice that he was watching this man walk in and that's when mark said. "I will give you 500 bucks if you get that guy up at the bar to fall in love with you. "I will, just wait" max confidently replied. "Oh yeah we'll see... I know he isn't cause everyone in the county tried to get with him, and he won't even show interest, and damn! He sure is hot! But the offer still stands if you think you can get him." "Its my time to waste" max coolly replied still eyeing the man that held everyone's attention at the bar. Max felt jealous when he looked around to see other guys point and obviously talk about the man at the bar that seemed to have been hurt by the world showing that he did not even care to look around at the other patrons. He obviously held Max's attention as his friends that were sitting with him just chuckled and started talking about something else. Max noticed that he was getting another beer and like the other times he had seen this man at the bar, this was his last, he never drank more then two beers. The bartender smiled and winked at him being obviously flirtatious with the guy, but as always he showed no interest not even acknowledging what the bartender did. Max took notice of the freshly cut hair in a crew cut, which made him look really hot, and accentuated his features perfectly. His wide shoulders and tall frame made him irresistible to look at, and without even knowing it he held Max's attention effortlessly. "You may just want to take a picture Max" brad said noticing that he had not taking his eyes off the hunk at the bar. "Not a bad idea" Max said with his lips breaking a smile Brad, Mark, and the others laughed and they soon noticed Max's attention was drawn again to the man at the bar. Turing his head and speaking questioningly he said "do you think I have a chance with him" His friends were shocked, they never herd Max talk like this, his voice completely lacking that high level of confidence that was always there. Finally brad getting over that second of utter shock spoke up, "Max your definitely the hottest guy in here of course you have a chance" They noticed Max's ego boost "yeah I am" It brought on a loud laugh from his friends, causing Max to quickly turn his head back to the perfect stranger. And to his amazement he turned and fixed his gaze on Max. Not only a second as he thought but their eyes became fixed like he was going to turn to stone. It was Max who turned his face away looking to his group of friends with a clear expression on his face. "Yeah, Max we saw" Mark said to the unspoken question Max looked back to see the back of his head once again, and he now cursed him self for turning away. The Stranger stood, pulled out his wallet and paid his tab and quietly walk to the door, it did not need to be said that all eyes were on him and once again Max felt the stings of jealousy.
