36.

As they walked to the car, both men said how fabulous lunch was and were
pleased things were going so well. It was nearing 1:30 and they had about an 90
minute drive to Palm Desert and to see their new house. It was exciting!

to Palm Desert and put them up in a nice hotel for the night. We can fly them

"My parents are going to be in Dallas for this week and they can fly back here on
Saturday morning!  I know they have dress clothes with them as they were going
to go to several black-tie events while in Dallas."

"How about next weekend on Saturday night? We can get the office to make up
the invites and get them mailed, we can fax them a list of the customers down

"What do you think? I can call Alice and get her started on a mock-up invitation today and
we can finalize everything on Monday morning. We can get the invites sent out
on Monday afternoon. We will see what the chef has to say first. We can also

treat Elsa to a beautiful evening dress. She works hard for us and deserves it!"

"I was just thinking maybe this weekend is too soon to do it up right!" mused
Tommy. "Maybe we can plan it later in the month and fly down again for the
party. That way invites are easier to accept and people have more time to plan.
What do you think??"

"Darling you just read my mind. I was thinking the same thing. Why rush it? It
gives everyone more time to plan so people can arrange to be here for our

"Well, that's now a done deal. I was starting to feel rushed and I don't want

The men headed south and made good time since there was not much traffic. The

"Most of it, at least furniture and some of the artwork, but we are bringing a lot of our own stuff down. It will take a while, but for the most part we are happy with virtually
everything. The previous owners left all the lamps, dishes and crystal. In the
kitchen, they left almost everything. Elsa and I will decide what else is needed
there. We can bring more of our stuff down in the future.

Just then Elsa and Daryl walked into the living room and greeted Daniel and Cynthia with a warm welcome. It was great to see them again. Elsa said if they would please follow her, she would show them to their room and Daryl would bring in the luggage. Cynthia loved all the fresh flowers and thought their bedroom was tastefully decorated. It was done in neutral colors, beiges, cream and tans with splashes of bright colors within the art and throw pillows. There was an on-suite bath with fresh cream colored towels and there
were more flowers in the bathroom. They had a wonderful view of the mountains
and the nearby garden.

They walked back into the living room where they were offered a beverage.
Cynthia asked for an iced tea and Daniel asked for a glass of Chardonnay. Daryl
brought drinks in on a tray and served with napkins. Robbie spoke up and told his
parents what the plans were for tonight and suggested what the dress would be.

Both parents agreed it would be fine. Then Robbie brought up his idea for a Black-tie opening party the following Saturday night, but that Tommy changed my mind as it would be too much too soon. So, we have decided to do it later in the month and give everyone more
time to plan their schedules and not feel rushed.

We can all fly down in a couple of weeks for the shindig. Cynthia thought it was a
wise idea and they would fly back from SF for it. Robbie explained how the
invitations would look and explained we are planning on flying down some of our best
customers from the restaurants in the Bay Area and put them up in a nice hotel
nearby. Daniel thought it was a savvy idea!

"So, we decided to have a soft opening this Saturday evening for the regulars here
in town. You both are invited to come if you have no other plans for the

"How many people will be attending the later function?" Cynthia asked.

"It's more of a 'drop by' with substantial Hors`d Oeuvres and Champagne, But we
need to ask the chef.  We figured about 200-250 or so. The restaurant will
be closed for the party and then would open for dinner on Sunday as normal."

"That sounds great Son. You've put together a clever marketing idea. Great
publicity for the company and bringing some of your better customers from the
Bay Area is wise strategy. It should be great for business all around. I'm proud of

Cynthia and Daniel went to their room to freshen up and change for dinner.
Daniel was going to wear a dark grey silk sport coat with lighter grey slacks and a

It was a short drive to the restaurant where a valet parked the cars. The group

in their orders while everyone looked at the menu further to choose their main

get a better count of how many people were attending. The soft opening the
next weekend for the locals would be easier to do and he was sure they
would have a good, although possibly smaller crowd.

Now it was time to order main courses. Daniel ordered Prime Rib as did Tommy,
both rare. Robbie and Cynthia ordered the Steak Au Poivre medium rare with a
Spinach Souffle and Potatoes Lyonnaise.  Elsa was craving Lobster and Daryl asked

Dinner was a smashing success and everyone was full beyond belief. On the drive
back to the house they raved about the restaurant. All in all, it was a grand
evening!!! Everyone arrived back at the house and said goodnight as they
