If you are underage or don't like the subject, then don't read it. The story is not autobiographical and is a product of the writer's fertile imagination. Comments welcomed preecherdave@gmail.com Author's Note This is a departure for me. I have taken two minor characters from Surprised, Part 3, Nifty, Adult Friends, January 14, 2012 and developed their characters and a story around them. It is shorter than my last few stories. Hope it works and that you enjoy it. Eric was enjoying his life and still was, except for the complication of the chance meeting at the club. Eric had discovered his sexuality in late High School. He had been very careful and had had no bad experiences. He eventually came out in University to the surprise of his parents and friends. There were some tense moments but his parents reluctantly accepted him in his new skin. He lost some old friends but some became accepting and close. Of course, at University he made lots of new friends; many were very accepting of his choice. He never labelled himself and he was never blatant. He attracted people with his outgoing personality, wide ranging mind and the easiness with himself. Being an athlete didn't hurt either. His circle was a mix of gay and straight. He played hockey on the University team. It looked as if he could be NHL material. He tried hard and was very hopeful but a very bad injury in his final year, sidelined him. On doctor's advice, he had to stop playing. That was the only major setback of his University career but it was traumatic at the time and he had refused to play even make up hockey. He had kept his equipment but never used it. It just brought back too many bad memories. He received a good degree in Journalism and Media and ended up in policy and media relations with a major Canadian political party. He was widely read and was articulate without being domineering. He kept in shape and was photogenic and articulate so he was on camera quite often and became a go to guy for interviews on Party matters. Not bad for a 30 year old young, gay man. His orientation was not an issue in the circles he mixed with and never became public. His privacy was always respected and that was the way he wanted it. He had had a few relationships but they never lasted longer than a few months and he had never lived with anyone; he always told himself that it would have to be a very special person. He admired his friend, Mark, who had basically been in love, at a distance, with a straight friend from High School, John. By luck, Mark and John had recently discovered each other in a new way and were obviously very happy together. That was a million to one chance. He probably could not emulate Mark's forbearance. In the last few years, Eric was very careful about whom he took home and how long they stayed which was almost never overnight. It meant some lonely nights but his work and the many Party events he had to attend, his friends and his sports kept him active, occupied and happy. In fact, there weren't really that many lonely nights when he thought about it. His friend, Robert, had phoned a week ago about a crazy welcome he had in mind for a few straight guys that John had corralled into coming to the club to dance and meet the guys. Gay Appreciation 101 he called it and he had pursed his lips and rolled his eyes when Robert had talked to him. Apparently, there was a guy, Dave, who had the same big, athletic build and look that Eric had and Eric had been assigned a role in his welcome. The night came. The club was busy and the energy was vibrating. They had bought a round when one of the guys at the table pointed and Eric looked to see eight good looking men heading to their table. Mark, John and Graham who Robert seemed to be getting to know rather well and five others approached. Eric scanned the group and picked out his target, Dave, from Robert's description. A thought flashed across his brain: athletic, hunk, straight, pity. He heard a guy at their table say as the group arrived, "Hey, fresh meat, looks good!" Robert stood up and surveyed them, pointing to Graham, "I want the cute one; he's mine." Robert started towards him. At that point, Graham started to back away, looking scared. He played his part well. Eric figured that he might as well get into his role. The others had done a good job. He looked over trying to look very interested, pointing at the guy he assumed was Dave, "I like him, built and cute. Very nice butt!" He made a move to get up. Robert reached Graham, grabbed him and kissed him with gusto. Eric had to admit that the looks on the five guys were priceless and worth the effort. Dave looked as if his eyes had turned to saucers. None of then could keep up the ruse; even Robert started to laugh as they all pointed at the guys, mimicking their looks. John, almost on the floor with laughter, told them that it was a set up and that Robert and Graham were going out together. Dave who had looked so composed and in control when they had walked towards the table, had looked so vulnerable and shocked, but quickly reverted to his former, confident facade with John's explanation. He looked at Robert and Graham and said that he would never have guessed. Introductions were made and Eric motioned Dave to sit in the empty seat beside him. That began a really good evening. Eric decided that if he was there and this was Gay Appreciation 101, he would get to know Dave and see what made him, a straight man, tick. "I'm Eric in case you got lost in the introductions. Like a beer or a drink? They have some great beers here." "Are you a connoisseur of beer? If so, choose one of you favourites." He reached for his wallet but Eric waved the money away. After his first taste, "Good choice, excellent. I really like the price." He paused smiling, "My round next." Another sip and another pause. "You look familiar?" Eric's first reaction was that he liked this guy but then the question. "Oh, here it comes. I am in media relations and policy for the Conservative Party of Canada and I am often interviewed on TV on various topics." "You sound too bright to work for that group! I had you pegged as intelligent." Eric couldn't help himself, he let out a loud laugh. "The best reaction I have had in ages. I usually get 'No, not really, how interesting or I am so impressed.'" "Hey, a job is job and you do a half decent job ... considering." They were both laughing by this time. Eric noticed that Mark, John and the others on the floor were going to get the visitors up to dance. "I'll consider you! Come on, you came to dance. Let's go. You can dance, straight boy, can't you?" "Gay boy, I can out dance you any day! Come on. What are you waiting for?" This was not what Eric had expected of the evening. He couldn't help himself. "A lot more bravado than 15 minutes ago?" Dave just shrugged his shoulders, with the trace of a guilty smirk. Better and better to Eric. Dave was a great dancer. The rest of the evening sped by enjoyably. Eric discovered that Dave worked in a good job in one of the important branches of the civil service. He was obviously bright and articulate. He had a nice understated sense of humour. Dave even accepted an invitation to dance with a really hot guy who fondled his ass. He and the guy parted smiling. Eric saw Dave put his arms around John's shoulder as he and Mark were about to leave, saying something that made John look very pleased. He then came over to say goodbye to Eric. "Dave, I have really enjoyed this evening. Here is my card if you want to get in touch. You have not raised THE ONE topic I expected." Dave raised his eyebrows in a question. "You know the gay question. This was Gay Appreciation 101 wasn't it?" That got a big smile from Dave. "Eric, I have to hand it to John. I get it. Why would I bother to raise it? I, we, had a great time. Well, I guess I should speak for myself, I did. I am looking forward to seeing my girlfriend this evening. I'm sure that you have a hot date set up for when we losers disappear. We are basically the same. We just like different strokes!" Dave raised his eyebrows several times. They both laughed. Eric looked at him with a wistful smile. To reply to your assumption, "I wish .... But the evening is young." They both looked at each other and smiled broadly. A link of understanding and empathy had been formed. "By the way, tell John. He was worried about tonight and how you guys might take it." "I already have during our last dance. I thanked him and told him to go and get Mark for the last dance and it looked as if they enjoyed it ....Oh, you saw them too. That kiss almost had me hard. I think that their night is just starting." They chuckled. "Cheers, Eric. Here is my card." Eric had to admit that Dave was impressive. This, really, was not at all, what he expected. The guys had not left more than 5 minutes when the hot guy, Steve, who had danced with Dave came and got Eric onto the dance floor. If he were truthful with himself and he usually was, Dave had turned him on and it didn't take Steve long to have an invitation back to Eric's with the understanding that a sleep over and breakfast were not included. Eric was short on words and quick with actions back at his condo. He was charged up and it wasn't Steve who had charged him but .... He almost tore Steve's clothes off, finding a very nice body and more than adequate equipment. He needed this tonight. He suspected that Steve didn't mind being told what to do. When Eric was finally naked, he guided Steve to his very hard cock and was rewarded with a superb mouth and tongue job that had him even harder and throbbing. He himself was versatile and he hoped that Steve was as well because tonight Eric felt like dominating and wanted to be in charge. Tonight he was a top. He could sense the hot, tight tunnel that awaited. He held up the condom in front of his dripping cock and Steve got the message; he wet the head and then slowly rolled the sheath down. It was erotic. Eric entered him and being a considerate lover, he waited til Steve was comfortable with his size and then he plunged in. Several times Dave's image replace Steve's in his mind. Eric pushed that issue to the side for future consideration but it did drive Eric even harder. He soon had Steve begging for release. He moved him onto his side and entered from the rear. With a combination of Eric's hand and the frantic pace of his fucking, Steve came hard, setting Eric off, filling the condom with a huge load. They cuddled for a short while and Steve left with vague talk of future meetings. Dave left thinking that he was glad that he had gone. Eric had been a great companion, intelligent and fun to be with. It was really surprising; it was one of the more enjoyable evening he had had in a while and Eric was the reason. Dave was just as lucky in bed but Eric's image did not replace his very aroused girlfriend's image. She commented later, that Dave had been very turned on and had really outdone himself. He could go dancing with the gays anytime he wanted. Why did Dave laugh just a bit nervously? Both men had very busy schedules and the week passed quickly for both. Dave did come unbidden to Eric's mind several times during the week but a session one evening with one of his special buddies helped keep that at bay. Dave did think a couple of times about that evening at the club and his rapport with Eric but then again, he saw his girlfriend a couple of times that week. That Friday during his early supper, he saw Eric being interviewed on the TV news about the Party's plans for more prisons and mandatory sentences. He looked very good in front of the camera but his talking points were not to his liking. Dave decided that a quick email was in order. Dave made sure that he let Eric know that he realized that Eric was following the PMO's talking points which were outside his control. Dave made his points but he stayed clear of being personal and managed to adopt a humorous tone to his remarks. He figured that Eric would appreciate it. He told him that he looked good but really, more prisons were an added huge cost to the economy and did they really make us safer. Did we want to give classes to more 'students' in advanced criminal techniques? Besides, several American states were rethinking their rates of incarceration. The return email started by pointing out that civil servants were supposed to be above politics and then regurgitated all his talking points. Dave's return pointed out that his email was sent from home, unlike Eric's, and so they were his private thoughts. They ended up trading a few more barbs that got lighter and funnier. They had started to talk. Emails came more often over the next week, just chit chatting about news events and personal activities. On Wednesday of the next week, Dave received an email that suggested that they should meet on Friday evening for a meal and hash some of the stuff over face to face. There was a happy face at the end of the email. That gave Dave a long pause for thought. Why would Eric want to meet him? He had his own buddies. Where could this lead? He decided to talk to John about it. They met for a drink after work that day. John was a good lawyer and asked all the pertinent questions. John was good. It opened lots of lines of thought and Dave began to wonder why he had even broached the subject with John. Obviously, he and Eric enjoyed each others company and could be friends. As John pointed out, Eric wasn't asking to date him. He quickly wrote back to Eric and they set up a time for food and pool at one of Dave's favourite pubs. "Ah, the infamous man on TV arrives. Where are the flocks of adoring fans?" "Smartass." "Wow and an intellectual too, with that astounding rebuttal!" Dave stood and shook Eric's hand with real warmth. Both were smiling. "I'd recommend their dark ale on tap. Hearty with just the kind of bitterness you would like." Eric looked at him with suspicion. "I like beer with at little bite and from the beers you suggested to me at the club, I suspected that was what you liked." He paused. "Well, maybe there was a little play with words but it is good beer." Two were ordered. "Hey, desk jockey, I have a good website for you about prisons. Your remarks were not totally off the mark." "Desk jockey? A step up or down from straight boy? Are you backing off from your recent on camera comments?" The evening was off to a good discussion and no holds barred innuendos and put downs. They played a couple of games of pool and were pretty evenly matched. "So Eric, you are in good shape. You do cut a good figure in front of the camera. What are the secrets beside your good jeans (he pointed to and touched Eric's very expensive designer jeans). Eric nodded and chuckled appreciatively at the good play on words. "Like you, I work out regularly, at the Y mind you, no fancy clubs for me. I swim, play racquet ball, bike and a little soccer in season. I eat reasonably and don't drink too many calories in booze." "You look like a hockey player to me." "I was but that is a long story." Eric looked as if he had drifted away in memories for a couple of seconds. "A story for another time perhaps?" Rather laconically, "Perhaps." It looked as if that topic would be raised again, only by Eric. "For now I'll leave it for you and the guys to enjoy your games. I hear that you have won some games and are having a great time." Dave nodded yes and he dropped the subject out of deference to Eric's reticence. "Entertainment? Movies, theatre, TV series, music?" When I get the chance I like orchestral music at the Performing Arts Centre. TV is a lot of TVO (TV Ontario), American PBS and a few CBC series. Oh, yes I really enjoy good film. I go to the local repertory theatre a lot." "Me too. Have you seen the Artist?" The answer was no and rather impulsively for him, Dave asked if Eric would like to go. There was a pause from Eric which made Dave cock his head to the side in a question. "Sorry, just thinking about my schedule. Yeah, I would like to see it." Dave knew that he had a reputation for being brash and speaking his mind. But he was perceptive and knew and read people well. The thought flashed through his mind that Eric had had a reservation about going with him and had searched very quickly for an answer. He even noticed that he just said that 'he would like to see it ' and left out the 'with you'. Nonetheless, plans were made when they accessed their phones' movie sites and their calendars. A time was set with a quick supper before the screening. "Dave it has been a great evening. I shall see if I can find some issues for our emails that will push all your buttons." Mischievous smile. "See you on Wednesday night." Both walked away thinking that it had been a very good evening. Eric walked away a bit melancholy. He had enjoyed it too much and had almost upset everything by hesitating on the film. Did he want to get to know this unavailable guy any more? He guessed that he did, because he had agreed to the movie, none too gracefully. Dave was no dummy. Leave it in the hands of fate. He could bail anytime. Damn, he really connected with him. Dave was surprised just how much he had enjoyed the evening. He didn't remember an evening quite like it with anyone in a long time. He could always accommodate another friend in his schedule although his girlfriend was already complaining a lot about his busy calendar which too often didn't include her. He shrugged his shoulders in a leave it to the future gesture. There were some very funny emails on Monday and Tuesday. He roasted Eric for his persistent comments on crimes and lenient sentences in the paper. Then he sent Eric a slew of articles from the Globe and Mail and the Economist about actions of American states and their high cost prison systems. Some were even trying to find ways to get people out of jail. At one point, he asked if he had pushed enough of Eric's buttons. Eric's reply was that would wait until Wednesday, with a happy face at the end of the email. They entered the theatre and both were totally engaged in the Artist. At times, they were only ones in the audience laughing at the antics of the actors and their silent responses and gestures. Both could tell that the other had enjoyed the movie greatly. It was Eric's suggestion that they finish the night off with a drink at his condo to discuss the film. Dave was impressed by Eric's taste and the layout of the condo. He got some drinks from the liquor cabinet that Eric had pointed to. It was simple; there were some really excellent scotches. Same taste in liquor. Eric was putting some things from work away and had absentmindedly turned on the answering machine, just part of his normal arrival routine. He had stepped away from the machine and was doing something in the kitchen as it started, "Hi, Eric, it's Stevie boy. I wondered if you were UP for ANYTHING tonight. I know I am...." Click. "Oh shit, embarrassing moment. Sorry Dave, it's not what it sounds .... No, I'll just shut up and stop digging the hole deeper. Where is my goddamn drink?" Dave chuckled as he handed it to him but there were still quite a few awkward moments ensuing after the click and Eric's comments. Dave figured there was no way that he could make any wise ass cracks to lessen the tension. Instead, he quickly made a comment about the film and they were off on a discussion about the film There was a look of admiration and thanks on Eric's face for Dave's quick thinking and consideration. "Eric do you think it was worth the 5 star rating?" "Good question. You know it took guts to make a silent film in 2011. The acting was superb and the script was so enjoyable compared to much of the recent action movie trash. I loved the scene with the dog, the older woman and the policeman." "Yeah and the score was excellent. I'd see it again." Their conversation got into the cinematography and the subtle nuances in the silent acting and makeup to make it more believable and acceptable for a modern audience. The 5 star rating stood for the two of them. "Wow, it is getting late. I have an early morning at the office. Must be off. Excellent scotch by the way." "Dave, I know that I hesitated about going. I'll explain some day. I have enjoyed the entire evening thoroughly. Well, I would and will delete one part." Small smiles. Somehow that cleared the hesitation and the answering machine debacle as something not worth thinking about. "See you soon?" "Yeah, I'd like that. Maybe the pub some night for food and pool?" "I'd like that too." No dates were set but both knew that it was a genuine wish and suggestion for both of them. The next day Eric phoned Steve in the early evening and told him about the embarrassing moment. They both laughed. "I guess I owe you one." Eric was not going to let that comment go to waste. "Yeah, I guess you do. I'd like to collect sooner rather than later!" "Sounds like someone hasn't had enough lately. How soon, now?" "I'll be waiting and ready. I'll warn you that I am frisky." "Sounds like my kind of guy. So am I. Should I bring anything for tomorrow morning?" "Don't push it, Stevie boy." Steve arrived half an hour later. Eric was in his tightest jeans and very form fitting t shirt. Steve seemed to appreciate both but they didn't stay on for long. He started with Eric's t shirt and then was lightly rubbing his chest and nipples. A few little bites on his nipples had Eric moaning. He made Steve turn around and pulled his shirt out of his pants and started to run his hands over his chest, pulling the hair lightly. His hands roamed down and cupped his package and massaged it. Steve was very hard. In a very few minutes, he had his zipper down and his shorts down over his ass with a cock sticking straight out, very hard and dripping. Steve looked as if he was off in other time and space. A couple of quick flicks with his fingers on the head of his cock and pulls on the hairs of his legs caught his attention and he returned to the tasks at hand. Soon they were both naked and lying on Eric's bed. "Steve, I need you in me!" He noticed a little look of disappointment in Steve's face. "OK, you in me first and then I'll suit up and fill you up." He was rewarded with a smile and with a very fast acting Steve. Eric thought that he would lose it when he felt three fingers go into him with the lube. He made little mewling noises as Steve's formidable member went in and stayed as he adjusted to its size and then plunged in all the way. The strokes in and out made electricity jolt through his body. Steve's hand on his cock heightened every sensation. It was difficult to finally tell him that he was close and that they should change places. "Here let me put that on you." Steve wet the head with his mouth and applied suction as he did it. "Careful, you could put me over the top." The sensation of the condom being rolled slowly on was very stimulating. Steve gave a very enthusiastic vocal welcome to Eric's invasion. Both men were totally sensitive and they did not last long. The only jolt for Eric was that at one point, again an image of Dave took Steve's place in his mind. It arrived just as Steve started to spasm with release, leaving Eric's hand filled with lots of cum. Seconds later, Eric was in the throws of a very strong orgasm as he muttered Dave's name. He had never done anything like that before. Eric must have looked embarrassed because Steve looked at him through the haze of post orgasmic fog. "It's OK. I have always known that there was someone else. I can accept what we have together. You are an amazing partner. I can't complain; you have been honest in what you wanted. So have I." Eric was thankful for Steve's understanding but he didn't think that he had been that obvious. He would have to give this a lot of thought. Dave had become very close to him and his feeling were turning to wanting something deeper and more intimate. But that wasn't in the cards for Dave. What to do? He pushed the thoughts aside as Steve got up to leave. No cuddling tonight. There was a gentle hug at the door and he left. Dave and Eric met at the pub the next week and set a time for the week after. Eric had been given some tickets to a performance at the Performing Arts Centre. He invited Dave to join him They enjoyed the performance and the good discussion about the performance afterwards over coffee and dessert at the restaurant in the Centre. Dave was given some tickets to an NHL game and he paid Eric back by inviting him, the following week. Eric actually really enjoyed it. They saw a lot of each other during those weeks. Eric began to try and figure out what was happening. He was really attracted to this man but Dave seemed oblivious and appeared to be just enjoying their friendship. Eric was losing control of his private life to a situation that he could not control as he was spending a lot of time with Dave. He decided that he would have to talk to Dave. But how? He tried to rehearse and plan various scenarios and outcomes that he wanted. But what exactly did he want? He was beginning to realize that what he wanted, was Dave and that appeared impossible. Today was the day. They were going out for supper at the Pub. Even though Eric was tense, they had a good time. At the end of the meal, Eric suggested that they skip pool and go back to his place for a drink and a chat. Dave gave him questioning look but Eric ignored it. They sat with drinks in hand. Dave looked at Eric and asked what was up. The thought that crossed Eric's mind was that Dave really was perceptive. "Dave, I have some things that I want to talk to you about." A look of concern crossed Dave's face. Eric had to press on. "Dave I have some things that I have to say and it is going to be difficult for me. You know that I really care for you." The look was now really concerned. "Dave, our relationship for me has changed a lot over the last weeks. I am in a position that I have gradually come to fear. You have come to mean so much to me in intimate ways and I don't think you can reciprocate." He looked him straight in the eyes. "There it is said and I know how damn perceptive you are. I can see in your face that you understand what I am saying. Dave, I am not a Mark who spent years loving someone that couldn't match his love. Their story is a one in a million." "When, how did this happen?" Dave asked plaintively. "Dave, I think I fell for you the first time we met. I didn't know it then but it has grown over the last weeks. My life feels now as if it is on hold." The minute he said it he knew that he had made a mistake. "On hold? You mean all we have done is nothing." "Oh Dave, on the contrary, it has made me feel closer and closer to you and wanting you in ways that I can't have you. I can hardly express to you how much I enjoy being with you." "But I have always told you that I am not that way." "My point exactly." "What's the answer?" "I can only think of very few answers." "If there is only one thing that will solve this, then there is only one option." Dave realized that he was not being subtle. He had left no room for manoeuvre. Too late, he saw the look on Eric's face. Eric looked at him with resignation. "If that's your answer, then there is only one solution." There was a long pause as they looked at each other. Dave broke the silence. "We go our separate ways?" He paused. "Oh shit, this is not how I expected this evening to end. You have given this a lot thought, haven't you?" "You cannot even begin to imagine how much!" Eric's eyes were moist and so were Dave's. They looked at each other over a chasm that was growing wider by the minute. It struck Eric that it was like a fissure that formed during an earthquake, growing larger and sucking things into it, destroying everything. All Eric could think was that Dave was gone. Dave was still shell shocked from an evolving situation that he had been oblivious to. For a guy who felt that he read people well, he had missed this totally. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Finally, Dave's brain started to work. This was obviously really hurting one of the finest people he had come to know. He could see the tears forming. Be gracious. Don't strike out. This took guts and was tearing him apart. He was in Eric's condo. He had to make the move. He had to go; for once in life he didn't know what to say or how to react. He finally uttered what was deep inside himself. "Eric, I am so sorry that I have to put you through this. I have been thoughtless and not very observant. I guess we take a break and step back. I can't tell you how much I shall miss this, us. We have to figure something out." For Eric, Dave's statement was harder than an angry outburst. His considerate response was one of the many reasons he liked this man so much. Dave stood up and so did Eric. Eric looked bereft but there was literally nothing that Dave or Eric could think of saying or doing to change anything at this moment. He walked over to Eric and gave him a hug and a look of real sadness. Eric's only small comfort was that it was not a look of anger or disgust. There were no more words spoken. Eric could tell that Dave, too, was close to tears. Dave, of course, couldn't know but inside the condo, when the door was shut, Eric looked at the closed door and simply whispered, "Bye Dave," and sobbed for the first time in years. There is another chapter in progress. It should be ready next week. preecherdave@gmail.com If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have published on Nifty.
