An I.V. had been started before the trip began. I sat across from the stretcher and watched the boy. It was hard to tell much about him, the blankets covered him to the neck and his face was swollen and bruised. The attendant had not sedated David, as there was a question of a possible concussion, so he was alert and very aware of what was happening. He was also in pain and trying very hard, not to show it. He had turned his head to the left and fixed his open, right eye on my face. After we had been traveling several minutes, David spoke. "You don't like me. It's pretty clear, from they way you look at me." I was a little taken back. It was unusual for someone to surprise me, and even more unusual, to hear anyone express their feelings, in such a direct manner. We travel in circles, where people say one thing and meant another, or thought something all together different. I honestly had not been aware, I projected negative feelings toward the boy, but as I thought about it, I realized, I was put off by the lifestyle, which this boy had fallen into. This thought caused me to realize, I was judging a situation about which, I did not actually know the facts. I did not usually conduct myself using that approach and realized, I had done so, because Dean was involved. I could see, Dean had immediate feelings for this boy and I did not understand why. I had spent the past ten years watching over Dean's care and safety, first as his body guard, when Dean's father was `Boss' and now as Chief of Security, since Dean had assumed charge. I knew, my feelings for Dean, ran far deeper than our business and social dealings, because I regarded Dean as the brother and family I never had, but I've had to be so very careful over the past three years. "It's not that I don't like you. I just don't know, where helping you is going to lead me, or the Boss. I have to look at you, as a potential problem until I know what is happening." Davey - Sunday morning, early Oddly enough, I understood what the man was saying. I too, could never afford to take anyone at face value. I wondered why, I had done so with "the Boss". It was the first time I could remember, I had instantly trusted someone and what they had said to me. I did not know why, but I believed what Dean had said about being safe with him and this man, who had been sent to watch over me. I looked carefully at Ted. He was a big man, maybe 6'3". Even with the suit on, I could tell that he was really well built, like a football linebacker, but no fat. Every ounce on this man would be firm, well packed muscle. He had blonde, almost white hair, cut in a brush cut style. His hair colour stood out because of his deep tanned complexion, which looked like he lived on the beach. His face was clean shaven, with really piercing, blue eyes and a very sharp, squared jaw line. Those eyes were very special. They were that shade of light blue, that could change to gray, likely when he was angered. A signal to watch for. Handsome did not do the face justice, but it was also worn and worry lines were permanently set, around those special eyes. Guess he must be 38 - 40 years old, I thought. Ted's chest was wide and thick and I just knew, there would be a nice mat of soft hair layered across it. I noted, there was a holster to the side of the left pec, squeezed between the chest and upper arm, but it was not obvious, if you didn't expect it to be there. Right handed, I decided. His hands were very large and appeared to be smooth and very strong. Ted's chest tapered to a narrow waist and was obviously supported by flat, strong abdominal muscles. The package, across which his pants were stretched, in his seated position, was large and pressed forcefully against the material. I knew this man was well hung. I could tell these things, after all the experience with men I had gained over the past couple years. His thighs were thick and hard, no doubt from a rigid exercise routine and his legs were long. There were no markings on the pant material at his thighs, which would indicate boxer shorts or boxer briefs, so I imagined he must wear a standard white brief, as this guy was very regimented and self controlled and wouldn't go without He wore an expensive, hand tailored, dark blue suit, that fit him exactly as it should and would allow him to blend in, with all the business types he must associate with. An expensive wrist watch was on his left wrist, a signet ring on his third left finger and I thought a chain hung around his neck, because occasionally, an outline appeared under his shirt, when he moved. Given other circumstances, I would be very attracted to this man and would likely, attempt to solicit him. Yes, there was something missing in this man that I could feel might make him available, but I was hardly in a position, to pursue that course of action now. We had arrived in the ambulance bay of Memorial General Hospital and the attendants unloaded and proceeded into the Emergency Room with Ted walking beside my stretcher. As the attendants wheeled through the waiting room, a nurse, holding a folder of papers, stepped in front of Ted, to halt his entry into the treatment area. Ted's hand reached out and locked onto the side of the stretcher and with no visible effort on his part, everything came to an abrupt halt, as he stopped. "The patient will be taken to a treatment room and you will need to remain here, to complete these forms." the nurse informed Ted. "This boy goes nowhere, that he is not in my direct line of vision." Ted informed the nurse. "You don't understand, Sir," the nurse responded, "we have rules." "I'm sorry," Ted informed her, "you don't understand. This boy will at no time leave my sight. I am the Security Chief of McAdams Corp. and this boy is under my protection. If that's a problem, I suggest you get the Hospital Administrator on the telephone right now and we will get it straightened out for you, without further delay." The nurse glared at Ted for a moment and realizing that she was going to get nowhere, told him he could go into the treatment room, but that she would have to call her supervisor. Ted told her, that would be a good idea and proceeded with the attendants and stretcher into one of the treatment rooms. It was now 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Once in the room, the ambulance attendant turned to Ted and suggested that he should be careful of the supervisor. Apparently she had a reputation throughout the hospital, for having her own way, and making life miserable, for anyone who crossed her. The nurse came in and gave Ted the folder of forms, asking that he fill them out. She listened, as the ambulance attendants gave a summary of their findings and then, they departed. The nurse took preliminary observations, inspecting my injuries very carefully and taking pulse, temperature and blood pressure. She also asked, about my pain and I told her about my arm and hip, but indicated the pain was not too severe, if I didn't try to move. She advised me, they would delay pain medication for awhile, if I could manage, because there could be a concern about a possible concussion. She then left us alone. Ted filled in a portion of the forms, designating Dean, as being responsible for me, McAdams Corp., responsible for the bills and himself, as the back-up person. For my last name, he wrote "McAdams" and listed Dean as `uncle'. Although these facts were not accurate, Ted knew his answers would avoid trying to pump me for answers I would be unwilling to disclose. He did ask me my birth date, explaining that it was necessary for providing part of the care and did not question, the date I gave him, which placed me as just having turned 16. At the nursing station, there was a commotion. We could hear the shrill voice of a woman demanding, "What is wrong with you, people ? Can't you run this area in an orderly manner, without having me come down here to straighten out your problems ? Call and have a couple security guards sent down here." Ted removed his cell phone from his pocket and looked up a number in his reference pad. Dialing the number, he spoke briefly into the telephone. At that point, a tall, stocky woman, in a nurses uniform, came charging into the room, flanked by two, short, security guards. "Now listen you...." she roared at Ted. "This is for you." Ted said, offering her the cell phone. "It's your Hospital Administrator." Her flapping mouth closed abruptly and she grabbed the phone from Ted's hand. "Yeah, this is Mrs. Benson and who is this ?" she roared into the mouth piece. She then stopped dead in her tracks, listening intently to the instructions being given, on the other end of the conversation. "But......" she sputtered and then, again became silent as she listened to more. "Yes ma'am, right away. Everything will be taken care of before you get here." she sputtered again. She handed the phone back to Ted and without looking at him, said, "Sorry about the misunderstanding, Sir. Everything will be tended to immediately." He handed her the folder of completed papers. She turned and spotting the two guards, ordered, "You two stand outside this door. Keep the hallways clear and when this boy goes anywhere, you go and make sure there are no delays getting him there, or looked after when he gets there." She then left the treatment room and headed back to the nursing station. We could hear her continue to give orders. "Mr. McAdams has been here over fifteen minutes. Why has the Resident not interviewed him yet ? You get up there and drag him down here, by the ear. Tell him if he's not here in three minutes, I will make his short life a living hell, for as long as he exists." She then went on, "All injuries are to be photographed and detailed notes are to be kept for the police. Call the Chiefs of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedics for his cheek and hip. I don't care what time it is, tell them it's for Mr. McAdams and the Administrator said to get their saggy butts in here, immediately. Call X-Ray and tell them to be prepared to do a full scan. The Resident can order specifics. Tell Admitting to set aside a private room in the McAdams Wing to receive Mr. David McAdams as soon as he is ready and make sure the room next to it is available for his Security staff. When Mr. Benton McAdams arrives, be sure that he is taken to his nephew immediately and that I am notified of his arrival. Now move it people, I will be back in 10 minutes and things had better be significantly different around here." With that she was gone, no doubt to recover some of her composure. I was not sure exactly what had just happened. Two things stuck in my mind. People didn't screw around with Ted and I was now David McAdams, nephew to Benton. But who was Benton ? "Who is Benton ?" I asked Ted. "Dean", Ted replied. I didn't understand, but it didn't seem necessary to at this time. I would ask again sometime. Ted - Sunday morning, early Like a sudden storm hitting, things began to happen. A nurse came with a Polaroid camera and photographed David's injuries. Two nurses then came and cleansed the gash on his cheek. They tried to be careful, but it hurt. He tried to be brave about it, but I noticed. They then brought basins, soap and cloths and carefully started to clean the accumulated grime off his bruised head, chest and arms, making sure not to further injure his broken forearm. Next, his feet and lower legs were washed, again carefully not disturbing the leg, which was hurting him so badly at his hip, when he tried to move. They had done all this with a sheet drawn over his stomach and groin, expecting that the teenager would be shy about his private areas. Oddly, they were not far off the mark. Just before those areas were to be washed, a bleary eyed Resident was herded into the room to make a preliminary evaluation of David's medical needs. The nurses left, but no one made any attempt to displace me from my position, leaning against the wall opposite the foot of the gurney. The resident did a very thorough check of David's entire body. He ruled out a concussion and ordered immediate injections of a pain reliever and muscle relaxant. These were given, almost before the words were out of his mouth. I was told, the next step, would be a trip to the X-ray Lab and that the guards outside would take David and me there, immediately. The resident would meet us in the lab in 15 minutes to review the x-rays and determine, whether any extra views would be required, thus avoiding an extra trip. As the Resident left the room, the guards entered and rolled the cart into the hall. I moved beside David and we all traveled along the halls as a single unit. The x-ray process was made easier on David, by the injections which he had received. It was still very painful, having to be moved around and I was again impressed with the bravery and tolerance which David showed. While the photos were being developed, we were left alone. David turned his head to look at me. "I have to tell you something." he said. I turned my full attention to the boy and waited patiently. "I was afraid, if I wasn't 16, they would insist that a legal guardian, had to be called. I didn't know then, I would be David McAdams. I lied.", he confessed to me, as I leaned on the rail of the stretcher. "I gave you the wrong year of birth. I really just turned 14. I've always been big for my age." Even with my years of experience, dealing with vastly different people, I was surprised. I had not expected, David was that young. "It's all right, David" I assured him softly, "I'll make it right." "You can call me Davey, too." the boy answered back, now sounding very young and very vulnerable. I realized, I was feeling more for the boy, than I had thought possible. I also realized I felt honoured by the boy's offer and that it represented an extension of trust, I would have to be sure to honor. "Thank you, Davey. I appreciate that." I responded. The Resident joined us in the hallway and advised, the x-rays were done and that we would all return to the Emergency Treatment Room. When we arrived, a technician was waiting and withdrew several vials of blood from David's arm. Dr. Tompkins, the Head of Plastic Surgery, was introduced and began his inspection of David's cheek. He advised, although the edges of the laceration were jagged, he did not feel microsurgery would produce any better result, than careful suturing with a fine thread. There would be a slight scar, either way. With agreement from David and me, he set to work and performed the meticulous stitching, that would result in the least evidence of the injury. He placed 35 tiny, fine sutures closing the jagged wound. It was now 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Dr. Klieg introduced himself as the Orthopedic Specialist, who had reviewed David's hip and arm x-rays. He suggested that the dislocation, could be reduced right there in the treatment room. The procedure was discussed and I was elected to help. I helped Dr. Klieg, the Resident, whose name was Dr. Dan Truman and the two security officers, lift David on his mattress pad from the stretcher and hold it raised. Two nurses removed the stretcher frame from the room and the men placed the pad, with David, onto the floor. I removed my shoes and sat on the floor, facing David, at a right angle to the boy's left hip. Dr. Truman, injected an additional dose of muscle relaxant and a sedative into David's IV tube and then, crouched by David's head, carefully monitoring his respiration and swallowing reflexes, suctioning his mouth and throat as necessary. As David reached a semi-comatose state, Dr. Klieg removed the sheet from David's groin. I then, as directed, clasped my hands around the top of David's upper left leg, parallel to the boy's ball sac. My hands were ideal for this, according to Dr. Klieg. They were large, with long fingers, that interlaced with each other, to provide a firm lock. Dr. Klieg grasped David's leg, at the ankle and mid-calf. On the count of three, he pulled the leg, at a 45 degree angle, while rotating the leg slightly inward, as I, bracing my left foot, at the top, inside of David's right leg and my right foot, at the top, left side of David's pelvis, exerted an increasingly powerful pull toward myself. About 10 seconds into this procedure, there was a visual shift at the left leg socket joint and an audible `plop'. Dr. Klieg announced a success and the efforts ceased. After covering David with the sheet again, Dr. Klieg moved to David's right arm and carefully reviewing the x-rays on the wall mounted viewer, reduced the fractured forearm. The two nurses, secured splints with wrap to the arm, which was to later be placed in a cast. Everyone returned, to reverse the previous process and lift David and the mattress pad, to the returned gurney frame. Within ten minutes from the start of the procedure, David was fully conscious and expressing an absence of pain, from his left hip. Dr. Klieg admonished him about moving around too much, for the first 24 hours, but said they would have him up walking, the day after tomorrow. A slight pause now occurred in the activity. A nurse returned with a basin and the washing items. "Now," she said, "we can finish all the places we didn't get at before." She set up the apparatus and went to remove the sheet covering David's abdomen. He grabbed the sheet and looked around for me, calling, "TED." The name came out, in a pleading whine, that even during the worst of his pain, I had not heard. I recalled what my response at age 14, would have been to having my privates washed by a nurse and suggested, "Why don't you leave us alone for a while ? I think we can likely look after the rest of the cleaning." The nurse, understanding and not about to argue, gave a smiling nod and left the room, so that we two would be alone. "Is it going to be okay if I do the rest ?" I asked the boy. Davey looked into my eyes, as best he could with his one opened eye. There was peace and trust between us. I realized right then, I was hooked and Davey would be a part of my life, for many years to come. Davey nodded and said, "If I can't do it myself, then your the next best person, I can think of." I could not fathom why this boy ,would extend this trust to me, given the past the boy must have survived. Taking a soap suds filled cloth in hand, I slid the covering sheet down David's legs, exposing fully the boy's abdomen and groin. Careful to avoid applying excess pressure to the bruised areas, I soaped David's stomach, hips and upper legs. I then used a damp cloth, to rinse the soapy areas and patted dry these wet areas. I then took the soapy rag once more and washed the pubic mound, which was moderately coated with reddish blonde hairs, the boy's penis, making sure the corneal ridge was clean and with David bending his right knee to allow freer access, the sac which contained two healthy testicles. I noted to myself that the boy was very well developed, for his age. His circumcised shaft was about 4" long and had a wide bell shaped cap. I then repeated the process of rinsing the soap and patting the wet areas dry with a towel. By the time the drying was done, David's cock had expanded and risen, so it now ran up his abdomen and pointed past his belly button, about 6-1/2" in full bloom. I looked at David's face and found that the boy was blushing. "I'm really sorry." the boy muttered quietly. "It's not a problem." I replied softly. "It would happen to me too, if our positions were reversed." I was smiling as I looked at the boy's face and when David's glanced at me, he too smiled. I helped David turn up on his side and with the same gentle care, used since I began, washed the boy's back, buttocks and the backs of his legs. The last task was to wash from the base of the boy's spine, through the buttock crease and the perineum, between the crease and ball sac. As I passed over his anal pucker, David gave a slight jerk and informed me, it was not helping with the problem he was having on the front side. We both laughed. I lifted David's right leg, so I could pat dry the perineum. "Now there's the last picture in the world, I though I'd ever see." said a loud voice. At the slightly open door to the room, with a gigantic smile on his face, stood Benton Dean McAdams. The Prophesy of the Guardians The House of Chen, being both old and honourable, shall be the Caretakers of this vision of the yet to come. From this time forth, one son will be born to the House of Chen in each generation to the number of 110. These males shall be the Caretakers and shall guard this knowledge until its time arrives. There are dark forces and men who fear the power of the Guardians and would use it for their own purposes. Care must be taken to preserve them while they grow and develop their skills. They must learn to love and trust, so that they may serve the needs of mankind. (Partial translation)
