Unexpected Guest, Chapter 15 - End On Thursday, after the storm, the weather turned warm and the snow began to melt rapidly. The weather forecasters said something about the effect of El Niño, and that widespread flooding was likely because the ground was firmly frozen so it couldn't absorb the runoff. Fortunately, nighttime temperatures dropped well below the freezing point again and the January thaw slowed down considerably. However, the freezing and thawing made the roads hazardous for several days to come. Dalton went into work at the store right after classes ended on Thursday and stayed until closing time. Being away from home didn't matter too much because Shel had seminar that night and the two of them couldn't have been together anyway. Besides, Dalton was adjusting to an adult world in which partners had to go their separate ways sometimes. That was reality. ---------- When they were at last together at home, they checked their email to see if there was any word from Dalton's relatives in Canada. Indeed, there was! Steve did the writing, but expressed the sentiment of all of them. He apologized for not answering sooner. Due to a computer glitch, he had only recently received their message. Grandma was thrilled at the prospect of attending their wedding. She wished to know if there was anything in particular they would like her to do, and how they would like her to dress for the occasion. Pete and Steve were also looking forward to being with them for their memorable event, and were already checking on plane reservations. In addition, the family wanted to give the guys a special wedding gift. If they didn't have their honeymoon plans etched in stone, would they consider going on a five-day cruise in the Caribbean? Grandma and the uncles would pick up the tab for it, including the plane tickets and shuttle service to their port of departure. Naturally, the guys were thrilled at the prospect. Having seen firsthand how prosperous Dalton's relatives were, they didn't need to feel guilty about accepting such a generous gift. They responded immediately, saying how excited they were about having everyone come, and that they would love to go on a cruise. Then, since the hour was quite late, the guys had a small snack and cuddled in bed for a short time before falling to sleep. ---------- With keeping up their school work and preparing for their upcoming nuptials, the guys were busy enough that February seemed to pass rapidly. That was just as well, seeing that Iowa winters can be dark and dismal even in the absence of a lot of snow. Instead of renting tuxedos, Shelby and Dalton planned to wear the matching navy blue suits they had purchased recently from Penney's. They gave their attendants the option of wearing full suits or simply slacks with white shirts and ties. All four of the groomsmen opted for the suits and they all went as a group to order ones that matched what the grooms had already bought. Herman and Ethan both needed to have at least one dressy outfit for their college years, and Wally and Lew said they could always use a new dark blue suit in their wardrobes. Ethan and Herman added new fitted white shirts to their list because they felt their current ones didn't look fresh enough for the occasion. In order to take advantage of a 20%-off coupon, Shelby initially put everything on his Penny's charge card. This saved everyone quite a bit of money, which the teenagers, especially, appreciated. They still needed neckwear, so after school on his day off from Giant Foods, Dalton logged onto the Amazon site to look at rainbow ties. He found a selection there and tentatively picked fashionably skinny ones that were fairly bright, but not too shiny. He wanted to wait for Shel's input before ordering them for everyone in the wedding party. While searching, he discovered a number of wedding bands cast in titanium. They had been hoping to find something more distinctive than what was available in the local jewelry stores and these looked good to him. He bookmarked that page as well. Shel approved of Dalton's selections, and they ordered them after dinner. ---------- The only other significant event that happened in February was a court hearing concerning Dalton's mother. Because of her apparent mental state, she was judged not to be competent for trial at the present time. In view of that, she was involuntarily committed to a secure state mental facility until such time as the doctors there felt she was capable of understanding the charges against her. This turn of events could cause the case to continue for years. The district attorney suspected that she might be faking her condition, and asked that she be monitored constantly to catch her if she were. Dalton was of two minds about the whole mess. He was eager to have it over and done with, but he also thought that it ultimately didn't matter. For all intents and purposes, his mother was essentially out of his conscious thoughts. Whether she was in jail or a mental ward, she really had no impact on his daily life. Along with his father, she was someone from the past, someone to be forgotten. ---------- To further help distance him from the past, Dalton decided to file for a name change. His new name would be Dalton Samuel Stern. He wanted his surname to be the same as his Shelby's when they were married, and he chose his middle name to be the one that Shel had first known him by. Shelby was thrilled by both choices. He wouldn't feel self-conscious if he slipped and addressed Dalton as "Sammy" sometime in the throes of orgasm. Once again, Shel realized how fortunate he was to have such a thoughtful soulmate. ---------- On Monday, March 15th, Shelby and Dalton met Wally at the courthouse shortly after 4:00 p.m. Since Dalton wanted to get married on his 19th birthday, and the state required a three-day wait between obtaining a marriage license and the actual ceremony, they wanted to allow sufficient time. Starting a little early allowed them a couple of days of leeway if any problems arose. It was Iowa, and not Kentucky, so there wouldn't be a recalcitrant county clerk to throw a wrench in the works, but it still made sense to be early rather than last minute. As a teacher of English, Shel thought it would be fun to apply on a notable day like the ides of March anyway. In the 21st Century, he felt that they didn't have to beware of any bad omens. Wally was there as someone who would be able to vouch that neither of them was already married and that they were who the claimed to be. Their driver's licenses would provide identification, but the law still required a witness. The whole process took only a few minutes to complete. When they finished, they drove to Jersey's to wait for Lew, Herman, and Ethan to join them for their engagement party. Everyone showed up by 5:30. Since three of them weren't old enough to have alcohol, the rest decided to forego it as well. There was no discussion about it; Wally set the stage by asking for iced tea when their drink order was taken. They shared two large specialty pizzas and each had a small dinner salad. All felt sufficiently full by the end of their meal. They weren't going to order any dessert, but they ended up with some anyway. "Are you men celebrating anything special?" their waiter asked before bringing the check. "Well, my birthday is Saturday, but the real celebration is that my fiancé and I just got our marriage license today!" Dalton answered. "Okay, who is the lucky person?" "I am the LUCKY one, but this is the guy who's going to be my better half," Dalton grinned, putting an arm around Shel's shoulder. "Well, we have a treat, on the house, for just such occasions. I hope everyone likes chocolate cake." Seeing a thumbs-up sign from all of the guys, the waiter scurried off and returned with a small five-layer torte. Sliced into six pieces, it was enough to provide a sweet ending to supper without leaving them uncomfortably stuffed. Small bowls containing a scoop of vanilla ice cream each complemented the cake. Dalton smiled the whole way home, thinking about what a fun party it had turned out to be. ---------- Dalton walked on air for the next week. He had plenty to do with school, work, making sure the house stayed tidy, and thinking about the wedding, but none of that stressed him in the least. Shel and he agreed on all of the details for their nuptials, and there was no "mother of the bride" to meddle. His community college teachers noticed that he was perpetually in a great mood, and that wouldn't hurt his grades. He seemed eager to participate in whatever was going on in class. Several of them wished they could have a whole room full of Daltons, because a number of students tended to slack off the week before spring break. Likewise, colleagues and customers at the grocery store appreciated the help of this pleasant, happy kid. Of course, a few of his coworkers knew because they would either be participants or guests at his wedding. ---------- On Thursday evening, the plane bearing Dalton's relatives landed at the Eastern Iowa Airport. Shel had seminar, so he traded vehicles with Dalton to provide a more comfortable ride for their guests and more space for luggage. The plane touched down right on time, and the bags arrived on the carousel quickly as well. It all went so smoothly that they left within the "courtesy" time and didn't have to pay a parking fee. Traffic was light, so they arrived at Shelby and Dalton's house in record time. Being a good host, Dalton had food and drinks ready to serve soon after he had everyone settled in their rooms. His grandmother observed it all with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. He was the kind of young man anyone would be proud to claim. While they were snacking, Dalton filled them in on the details of how the wedding would proceed. There would be a very short rehearsal on Friday night, and then they would all go out for dinner. Grandma seemed to be pleased that she would have a part in the ceremony. She was to bear a tray with two glass vessels of sand, along with a larger glass container, and place them on the small altar at the front of the chapel. Then, she would sit down in one of the front pews with Steve and Pete. It wasn't a big duty, but her name would appear in the program as Dalton's grandmother. Then those in attendance would know who she was. She felt honored. ---------- Rehearsal was quick and painless. There wasn't a lot to do other than make sure everyone in the wedding party knew the order in which it would take place, and knew where to stand. Fred Miller, their minister showed them a copy of the brief remarks he would make, and they gave him copies of the vows they had written. Everyone was satisfied that all the bases had been covered. After leaving the chapel, the family and the wedding party drove to the restaurant where they had reserved a private room. Shel and Dalton made it clear that they were picking up the tab. Dinner was served family style, but there was a choice of two meats and several different vegetables. Following the festivities, the family went home, Lew and Wally went to their place, and Herman went home with Ethan to stay overnight. ---------- Everyone was back at the chapel well before 9:30 when the wedding was to begin. The organist played a medley of old songs, all of which had the word "love" in the title. The front third of the chapel was filled with guests. It appeared that everyone who had been invited from schools, work, and the neighborhood had chosen to attend. The guys were delighted to see the turnout. Marie was pleased when Ethan spoke to her in French as he pointed out where his mother and father were seated. They would be people she could easily converse with at the reception. About two minutes before the grooms were to make their way down the aisle, Marie led the groomsmen down bearing the tray with the sand. (The young men had decided to use this symbol of their becoming one instead of candles. Neither of them had a mother to light their individual tapers, and so they felt this would be a better way to go.) Then she stepped back to join Steve and Pete in the front row. Right at the appointed hour, the grooms came down the center aisle, hand in hand, to the strains of Pachelbel's "Canon in D." Rev. Miller welcomed the guests, delivered a short prayer, and asked them to be seated. He read several scriptures, and gave a short homily using gender-neutral pronouns when speaking of two people venturing out from their families to begin a new life together to become one. He asked the grooms to join hands before two choir members sang the duet, "One Hand, One Heart" from Westside Story. When the song ended, the men repeated their vows and exchanged rings. Next, Dalton picked up a small glass vase filled with fine white sand, and Shel took a similar one with tan sand. Then together they poured them slowly into the larger glass container, turning it as they did. The result was a mixture that made it more difficult to distinguish between the colors. Finally, Dalton took a long thin spoon (rather like an iced tea spoon) and put it into the larger container. Shel place his hand over Dalton's and together they stirred until the grains were blended into a uniform color. "May this amalgamation be symbolic of your union. May your marriage last longer than it would take to separate these grains of sand and put them back into their original vessels," Rev. Miller said. "And now I present to this congregation, "Mr. Dalton and Mr. Shelby Stern!" Accompanied by a big round of applause, the men exchanged a brief kiss. After the wedding party had processed back up the aisle, the grooms came back to dismiss their guests by rows in lieu of a receiving line. The ceremony was followed by a brunch, which was a hit with their guests. The reason for the early schedule was so that the men could get to the airport on time. ---------- After seeing the newlyweds off, Dalton's family drove back to the house in the SUV. They would stay until the next day, and leave the keys with Wanda who had offered to shuttle them to their plane. ---------- The cruise ship was to depart from Fort Lauderdale in the early afternoon the day after their ceremony, so the guys needed to stay overnight. The room Dalton's family had booked for them was a honeymoon suite. Though it's sometimes rumored that central Florida isn't particularly gay-friendly, no one at the hotel seemed to care that the honeymooning pair was a same-sex couple. They arrived in time for dinner which they followed with a nap. Since this was the night for the consummation of their union, they wanted to be rested and refreshed. The guys showered separately. Dalton asked Shel to go first, so he did. He came out of the bathroom in one of the big white terry robes provided by the hotel, wearing nothing under it. When Dalton emerged about 10 minutes later, he had on the matching robe. For several minutes, they made out with abandon, tongues wrestled, earlobes got sucked, as did nipples. When the guys were excited to the point of exuding precum, Shelby stood and dropped his robe, proudly displaying his rampant phallus. Dalton took his off and stood in front of Shel arrayed in a smile and a pair of red and white Modus Vivendi briefs which had a big damp spot in the crotch. "What's this, are you playing hard to get?" "You're right about the `hard' part," Dalton giggled as he turned around so that Shel could see that the briefs were backless. "Yummy," Shelby exclaimed as he gently nudged Dalton so that he was bent over the side of the bed with his knees on the floor and his butt sticking up in an accessible position. He proceeded to separate those perfect globes enough to get his tongue between them. He drove his husband nearly wild with his rimming action! It didn't take long before Dalton pulled off his under garment, moaning and begging to be entered. Gently preparing his lover, and himself, with a super-slippery lube, Shel was ready to fulfill Dalton's longtime desire. With Dalton on his knees, doggie-style in the middle of the big bed, Shel gradually and carefully pushed his steely cock through the anal ring. Dalton sighed in satisfaction knowing his dream was about to come true. "Are you okay," Shell asked. "Yeah, it's awesome' it doesn't hurt at all! I think I'd like to try it on my back so I can see your face and so we can kiss." "Are you sure? It might not be as comfortable." "Yup!" "Okay." And so, with smiles and kisses, the romantic ride began. Dalton quickly became a "power bottom" controlling the angle, and flexing his anal muscles to give Shelby maximum stimulation. The thrill was intense for both of them. Dalton felt his jizz roiling at the same time Shel began to gasp and lose control. Then with cries of ecstasy, they began to cum together. "Oh God, oh God!" Dalton nearly screamed. "Oh my Sammy, at last you're mine!" -------------------------------end---------------------------------- Author's notes: Well readers, it's been a fun ride and I hate to see it end.
