Chapter 7: Boarder Patrol

I looked across at Alex as he took another bite out of his burger, seemingly impressed with the quality of my parent's cooking. It had been two days since T'Luk told me about a very personal part of his life, when he told me about his 'disability'. I had always respected T'Luk more than anything, but after telling me about his mothers accident, I respect him even more. Not only as a partner, but as a Vulcan who has had to work that little bit more, that little bit extra to be able to manage with his life. I wasn't sure how or even if it was possible, but from that moment, I vowed to help him in any way that I can.

Earlier on in the day I spoke to Alex and invited him over. He quickly accepted the offer beamed over just before dinner. It was quite a warm day outside, so my dad thought that it would be a good idea to have a barbecue. I volunteered to take a visit down to the local town and pick up some burgers and sausages while my mum stayed at home prepared a separate vegetarian meal with T'Luk as she doesn't like to eat a lot of meat either.

The food was fantastic, and so was the company. Every now and again I'd turn to look at T'Luk to notice that he was staring at me from the corner of his eye, an action that didn't go unnoticed by my mum, as she commented on how cute we were as a couple. This of course got me blushing straight away, with Dad and Alex's laughter not helping at all. T'Luk on the other hand replied with a simple, “Indeed.” Who said Vulcans don't have a sense of humour?

Around 22:00, Alex announced that he should head back home if he wants to be awake in time to return to work tomorrow. Dad offered to give him a lift into town to use their transporter station, but he said he had his own personal chauffeur.

I smiled at him, “What?”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his combadge, “As long as they're in orbit, I'm getting my free lift.” He replied, grinning.

We all said goodbye before he tapped on the combadge and requested a site to site transport to his home. There was a slight delay before he was enveloped in a blue hue and dematerialised from sight. I turned to T'Luk,

“I think I'm gonna head up to bed, I'm knackered.”

He nodded, “You do appear fatigued.”

I poked him softly in the ribs, “Unlike you, my Vulcan prince.”

He cocked his head, “Prince?”

“Uh huh. You coming as well?”

“Yes, I will join you.”

We said goodnight to my parents before we climbed the stairs and stood outside my bedroom. I faced T'Luk and stared at him for a second, briefly thinking about how lucky I was to be with him. I leaned forwards and kissed him, before pulling him into a hug.

“I love you babes.” I said into the side of his neck.

“I love you too, Kai.” He replied softly.

*

T'Luk and I were both dressed in our uniforms and drinking some mint tea before we had to beam back up to the Titan. As much as I enjoyed seeing my parents and being back at home, part of me was itching to be back on the ship, to be back out there flying from star to star. Captain Riker wanted us back at 10:00, so we could start our shift an hour later. That was fine by me as we'd already had breakfast so we had more than enough time to settle back in. I tapped my combadge,

“Computer, time.”

“The time is 09:52 hours,” Replied the voice.

I faced T'Luk, “Do you want to head up now?”

He nodded, “If you are ready.”

I stood up and walked over to the lounge, where my mum and dad were sitting and told them that we were about to head off. They came over to say goodbye and told us to look after each other and that we were welcome back at any time we were in the neighbourhood. I thanked them for everything and said goodbye before I requested to be beamed up. I waved at my parents as I felt a slight tingling and a slight haze appear over my vision as I was beamed aboard the
Titan. The crewman on duty in the transporter room smiled at us,

“Have fun down there sirs?”

It still made me smile when I was addressed 'sir' as it didn't happen very often, “Yes we did, thank you crewman.” I replied as I stepped off the transporter platform with my suitcase in hand.

We exited the transporter room and began to walk down the corridor towards our quarters when Alex walked around the corner.

“Hey guys.” He called out.

“Hi Alex, when did you get up here?” I asked.

“Only about fifteen minutes ago, I just couldn't stand hanging around.”

I nodded, “I know what you mean.”

“Anyway, I'll let you guys get ready, see you later.”

“Bye.” We replied as he walked off.

We started to walk in the opposite direction, “It's good to be back.” I remarked to T'Luk, who was walking alongside me.

“Indeed. Thank you for letting me stay with you Kai.”

I smiled at him, “You're welcome. I don't think I would have enjoyed myself as much if you didn't come along as well.”

T'Luk stopped outside some doors, “My quarters are here. Would you like to come in?”

I suddenly realised that hadn't seen T'Luk's quarters yet, so no way was I going to turn down the offer, “Sure, if you're not sick of me yet.”

He pressed his key code into the panel, “I will never get sick of you Kai.”

The doors opened and he ushered me inside. His quarters were laid out very much like my own, in that they were located on the inside of the ship so neither of us had a window, though there were some differences to my own. There were many candle mounts around the living area and several small ornaments on a glass table in the centre of the room. I inhaled and could immediately smell T'Luk in the air, with that cute Vulcan smell that he has. Looking about elsewhere in his quarters and it was as though this place was a show home, everything was in it's place perfectly and lined up all straight.

“I like what you've done with the place.”

“I wasn't sure if you'd like it.”

I faced him, “What's not to like? They're your quarters, that alone makes it perfect.”

He nodded, ”Make yourself comfortable. Would you like something to drink?” He asked while placing his suitcase on his bed.

“I'm fine thanks.” I said while taking a seat on his sofa.

He opened his suitcase and began to unpack his items.

I leaned forward and smelled a candle in front of me. It didn't have a strong scent, but it was quite soothing. Vulcans usually meditate before going to bed and they often use candles to help them concentrate.

“Do you meditate every evening?” I asked.

“Yes, whenever possible.”

“Do you need to, I mean, does it help to suppress your emotions?”

“Indeed. It helps me to calm and control my emotions.” He replied while stowing away his suitcase, “Perhaps you should meditate Kai.”

I looked at him, “Me? Meditate?”

He nodded.

I looked back at the candle, “I don't think that I'd have the patience.”

He walked over to me, “I can show you how to meditate this evening, if you would like.”

I thought for a moment, “Ok, I'll give it a try, but no promises.”

“Good. I'm sure you'll find it beneficial.”

I stood up, “We'll wait and see. Are you good to go babes?”

“Yes, babes.”

I giggled at him, “You're just too cute, you know that?”

He gave me a look which basically said,
“Yep, and that's why you love me!”

“Ok, let me go put this away quickly,” I said patting my suitcase, “And then we can go down to astrometrics.”

*

Around 10 minutes later, T'Luk and I were back in astrometrics and were about to be briefed by Commander Jones about the Titan's new assignment. There were 3 other people in astrometrics when we arrived and they just appeared to be performing routine scans, so it didn't appear that we'd be having a large workload over the next couple of weeks or so. We were sitting at the consoles nearest the front of the room when Commander Jones walked in,

“Good morning Ensigns.” She replied addressing T'Luk and me.

“Good morning Commander.” We replied.

She walked up to the space in front of us and began to outline our new assignment, “Starfleet command has looked over our mission reports and have concluded that the stolen Romulan warbirds pose a low security threat because of the tachyon detection grid that covers the neutral zone. They have however decided to post a task force in charge of patrolling the Neutral Zone in case an emergency situation should arise. The
Titan is going to be the lead ship in this task force.”

I have to admit that I was quite disappointed. I knew that it would be unreasonable of me to expect that our only job would be deep space exploration, but at the end of the day I was an astrophysicist, not a customs officer. It just didn't seem logical to fill a ship with science officers and then send them out to police the boarders. I'm sure that T'Luk was sharing the same opinion of our mission.

Commander Jones noticed the expression on my face, “I feel the same as you do Ensign, patrolling the Neutral Zone is hardly stellar cartography, but hopefully we'll get some new orders come through soon and we'll be on our way.”

I nodded, “So what are we doing in the mean time?”

“Captains orders are to perform our routine scans as usual, and to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.” She replied.

“Like a cloaked Romulan warbird?” Asked T'Luk.

Comm Jones nodded, “That and anything else.”

“When are we expected to break orbit?” I asked.

“Any minute now, once the rest of the fleet is ready to leave.”

“Ok, we'll get working on those scans.”

“Good, I'll be on the bridge if you two need me.” She replied as she headed for the door.

“Yes sir.” I called out after her.

I turned to T'Luk, “Alright, lets go meditate.”

He raised an eyebrow, “It wouldn't be very logical.”

I faced the console in front of me and accessed the ventral sensors, “Perhaps not, but I think that today is going to be very boring, not that Vulcans get bored.”

“On the contrary, I would rather be doing something that is more productive.”

I leaned in toward him, “The thing is, we have a very powerful main computer core onboard that is constantly analysing the space around us, and now we also have at least five people looking at the same data. I hate days like this.”

T'Luk nodded, “However the computer will only detect what we program it to find, and if there are any Romulan vessels are in Federation space, wouldn't it be wise to ensure that they are detected quickly?”

“It would, but we don't have any proof to support that.”

“Neither do we have any evidence to dispel it. Is there not a Human expression, 'Better safe then sorry'?”

I smiled at him, “You're right. It's just quite repetitive, that's all.”

T'Luk began tapping away at his console, “Indeed.”

*

Staring at a screen for around 8 hours, looking for things that may or may not be there can make you tired quite quickly. We were still at warp speed and en route to the boarder, it would take around another 16 hours before we arrived there. Fortunately for us, Commander Jones had put the science department on a three shift rotation so T'Luk and I had just finished our duty, not a minute too soon I must add. We decided to head up to the mess hall to have some dinner and were quite surprised to see H'Jan, Casey and Alex already there. T'Luk and I replicated something to eat and sat down with them. It was nice to catch up with the guys again and to find out about what had been going on during the time that we were on Earth.

Casey shook his head, “Nope, I'm not saying a word. You'll find out tomorrow.” It seemed that there were a couple of new crew members that had transferred over since we stopped off at Earth. One of the people was a young guy around our age who worked in command, like Alex. But the guys wouldn't tell me about him for some reason.

“Why until tomorrow?” I asked.

“He's on a different duty for the time being.” He replied.

I nodded, “Well at least tell me what species he is.”

“That's part of the fun.” Answered H'Jan.

I turned to him, “You know I could just get T'Luk to wrestle you to the ground while I tickle it out of you.”

Alex started laughing, “I'd pay a lot of latinum to see that!”

“Is that how you two spent your time on Earth? Wrestling and tickling each other?” Retorted H'Jan.

I started to blush, “No, of course not.”

“I was gonna say, it wouldn't be that much of a fair fight for you Kai.” Said Casey.

“What?” I flexed my arm, “Look at that! Now tell me it would be a fair fight.” True, it was highly unlikely that I'd ever be able to beat T'Luk in wrestling, hell, I doubt that Casey would be able to beat him.

T'Luk reached out and squeezed my bicep before he shook his head slightly, causing the other three to laugh hysterically.

“Ok, ok.” I said holding my hands up, “He'd win.”

“I've booked another slot in the holodeck for us to use tomorrow, if you guys are up to it.” Said Casey.

“Sure, you want to go babes?” I asked T'Luk.

“Yes. What will we be doing?” He asked.

I turned to Casey, “Well? What are we doing?”

He wiggled his eyebrows, “Now that would be telling.”

“Oh come on, that's unfair.” Replied Alex.

Casey shook his head, “It's a surprise, but don't worry, you'll all enjoy it.”

We talked for a little while longer, but after that, T'Luk and I headed off to his quarters while the others hanged out at Casey's. I didn't want them to think that we were blowing them off, we just wanted to spend some time alone together, but they didn't seem to mind.

I stepped inside T'Luk's quarters and was greeted once again by that familiar smell of his.

“Would you like something to drink?” He asked.

I shook my head, “I'm fine thanks.” I glanced around his quarters again and noticed something else that was different to my own. “T'Luk, why don't you have any pictures of your family displayed?”

“I do not require pictures of my family to be displayed. I know what they look like.”

“But that's not the point, it helps to make it feel more homely.” I said while taking a seat on his sofa.

“I do not need my quarters to feel more homely.” He replied while sitting next to me.

“Perhaps you should try it, replicate a couple of photos.” I paused for a second, “I thought it was just me earlier, but I'm sure that your quarters are the warmest place on the ship.”

He nodded, “I have increased the temperature from 22ºC to 24ºC, is it too warm for you?”

I giggled, “I can handle a 2 degree difference, it's quite nice actually. Do you find the rest of the ship cold?”

“No, I just prefer warmer temperatures.”

“Because it reminds you of home?” I questioned.

“It is a physiological preference, not an emotional one.”

I paused for a moment, “Would you like to show me how to meditate now, or is it too early?”

He walked over to his drawers and retrieved a small lighter before heading back toward me, “It is not too early if you would like to begin.”

I smiled at him, “Good, just tell me what to do.”

T'Luk lit the candles around his quarters and dimmed the lights. He stood in front of me and showed me how I should place my hands. I was to link my fingers together with the index fingers pointing straight out and my thumbs overlapping.

I knelt down on the cushion opposite him, with the small candle flickering between us.

“Close your eyes and relax.”

I closed my eyes and exhaled.

“In order to reach a meditative state, you must learn to control your breathing.” He said before continuing, “Take in a steady breath, hold for about five seconds, and then exhale.”

I followed his instructions. Breathing in and out, in and out.

“Good. Imagine you are quieting your mind with every exhale.” I felt his fingers touch mine, “All of your energy is being focused at the tips of your fingers. It is here where you are at one with your mind. Your body and soul in harmony.” He let go and I heard him sit back down.

It was quite an odd feeling. T'Luk told me that it was like a conscious sleep, but it wasn't like sleeping, it was more calming and more soothing. After what seemed a short while, T'Luk announced that I should begin to feel more alert as I became fully conscious, and to open my eyes when I was ready. I took in a deep breath and opened my eyes to see him sitting opposite me, with his face illuminated by the flickering candle.

“How do you feel?”

I smiled at him, “Really good. It's different to what I expected.”

“How?”

“It was a lit more.” I gestured to my head, “Up there, you know?”

He nodded and stood up, “Computer, lighting to 20%.”

The room became slightly illuminated from the lights, but not too much to be blinding. I watched as T'Luk went around and blew out the candles. Once he finished I stood up and walked up to him, “Thank you for showing me.”

“You're welcome. You're a good student.”

I grinned, “And you're a good teacher.”

He nodded slightly as I moved my hand to the back of his head and pulled him toward me, pressing our lips together. I pulled back after a couple of seconds and stared into his eyes. I moved back in again and parted my mouth slightly, flicking my tongue against his lips. He opened them and let me inside. I ran my hands across his back and through his hair as I tasted his mouth. I felt his breath flow across my cheek as he pulled me towards him. We stayed in the liplock for a couple of minutes before I felt him tug at my shirt. I pulled it off my head and tugged at his. Bare chested, we walked over to his bed and resumed our kissing on his sheets.

I pulled him on top of me and let my hands rest on his smooth back, before letting them roam lower to his ass. I slipped under his trousers and gripped his globes, pulling him into me. I could feel his hardness pressing against mine through our clothing. I had to get out of these now. I broke the kiss and unzipped the front of his trousers, he got the message and pushing them down along with his boxers, leaving him in his socks. He unzipped mine and I done the same, throwing them to the floor. We stayed still for a moment, eyeing each other, with him kneeling above me. I let my eyes roam the front of his body and down to his cock. I watched as it throbbed rapidly with his fast heartbeat. I looked up to see him looking down at me, before looking back at my face. Our eyes connected as he moved down and started kissing me again. I massaged his globes with my hands as he started to hump against me. I could feel a slickness against my abs. He was leaking precum on me.

He pulled off my lips and kissed his way down to my navel before he softly wrapped his hand around my dick and flicked his tongue across the tip. I quickly exhaled at the sensation and moaned when he took me inside his mouth. I reached down and ran my hands through his hair as his head bobbed up and down on me. His expert actions with his tongue was quickly sending me toward an orgasm. I felt his hand reach down and massage my balls, rolling them about gently in his hand, before he ventured lower. I widened my legs to grant him access as his fingers traced along my perineum. I moaned softly when he grazed across my hole. He stopped sucking me for a minute while he wet his finger. I drew in a breath as he returned his mouth to my cock and his finger probing my hole. He rubbed around it, before he applied some pressure and pressed inside me.

“Oh god!” I groaned as he slowly started to move his finger in and out of me. He rubbed up against something which made my dick jump. He pressed there again and caused me to lose control. I felt the orgasm work its way up from my toes. I arched my back as I began to cum inside his mouth. He kept sucking me and swallowed down my load. Once I finished, he let me fall from his mouth and removed his finger as he moved back up to my face. I started kissing him again, but this time tasting myself on his tongue. I rolled him over onto his back as I reached down and started to milk him. He was so hard. I knew that he was close to shooting. I broke the kiss and moved down in between his legs. I ran my hand up his thigh before clasping his erection. I ran my thumb over the tip before I leaned down and took him in my mouth. I gently massaged his sack with my free hand, rolling his smooth balls around my fingers. I wet my ring finger and then moved it lower, until I reached his entrance. I ran my finger around his smooth skin before I pressed inside. I heard him gasp above me as I felt him cumming in my mouth. I pressed further inside him as he shook and tensed with his orgasm. I swallowed his cum and licked him clean. I removed my finger and crawled up to his face. I ran my hand across the side of his face and traced his pointed ear as I leaned in and kissed him.

We kissed for a while longer before we drew the sheets over us while he nuzzled his face in my chest. I wrapped my arms around his back as I buried my face in his hair. I fell asleep listening to his gentle breathing and the smell of his scent in my face.

*

RED ALERT, ALL HANDS TO BATTLESTATIONS!” Came a voice through the comm, as the klaxon began to sound.

I woke up at a start to find myself laying on T'Luk's chest. I quickly sat up and got out of bed before getting myself dressed. I looked back to see T'Luk's naked form swiftly slip out from under the sheets before he too started to get dressed. I tried to stifle a yawn, but to no avail. Just seconds ago I was asleep next to my soft and cuddly cutie, and now I had to be up and ready for battle. I had no idea what the time was, but it had to be late at night or early in the morning.

“Computer, time.” I called out as I wrestled with my top.

“The time is 03:27 hours.” Replied the female voice. Hell, even she sounded tired.

“They picked a hell of a time...” I called out to T'Luk.

“Indeed.” He replied tiredly.

Once we were dressed we quickly looked each other over before heading out of the quarters and down towards astrometrics. We stepped inside and sat down at one of the consoles, while a Lieutenant walked over to us.

“A couple of minutes ago we received a distress call from a Goran supply vessel, they were under attack by some Romulan warbirds.” He said.

I quickly glanced down at the console in front of me to notice that the fleet were heading to the coordinates of the distress call at maximum warp.

“Do we know how many Romulan ships were involved?” Asked T'Luk.

“No, but the message said 'they', so we can assume that there was more than one involved. We aren't detecting any vessels in the vicinity, so they likely destroyed the cargo ship and then cloaked.” Replied the Lieutenant.

“Why would they attack a supply vessel?” I asked.

“The ship was carrying deuterium, its possible that they needed the fuel.” He replied.

A female Ensign called over to the Lieutenant from across the room. He looked at her and then back to us, “I want both of you to run continuous long range scans. Look for anything, use every detection method in the book. Find those ships.”

“Yes sir.” We called after him, as he headed over to the other Ensign.

I looked back down at my console and made a quick calculation. It would take us 31 minutes to reach those coordinates at our current velocity. In 31 minutes we could find ourselves battling it out against those Romulan ships. The five of us against the five of them. I glanced across at T'Luk, hoping that those odds would be in our favour.
