Now on to the story... Beginnings of Something New-Part 2 With one final pat on Lance's shoulder Sebastian headed back to the counter. Lance gulped before shrugging his shoulders and deciding to go for it. //You only live once, right?// Lance thought to himself as he slowly stood and headed for Jacob. "Eh, hi. I-I'm Lance. May I sit down?" Lance asked, kicking himself for stuttering. He sighed silently when he saw the young guy smile and give him a `sure' in response. //Oh that voice// Lance thought, trying to think when he'd heard something more beautiful but failing. "You can sit." Jacob repeated bringing Lance out of his thoughts. "Oh, thanks." This time Lance did sit and an embarrassed silence was shared a few moments before both men started. "You know." "Can I" Both men, said at the same time, causing them to laugh. Finally breaking the ice for the second time, Lance decided to be, for once honest. "I'm GAY." He blurted out at the same time Jacob was taking a gulp from his tea. Lance's words caused him to spit his swig of tea all over the counter. Lance was beet red now, for what he'd said and the reaction he'd got. Beginning to turn he felt a warm, comforting hand on his shoulder. "L-Lance. I'm not bothered. You just surprised me. Most guys don't usually walk up to a stranger, ask to sit down then admit something," Jacob struggled for the right words. "Something, so personal." He finally ended, a small smile adorning his face. "So, y-you're okay with it?" Lance asked one more time. He needed to be sure. Lance knew Jacob was gay. Well, according to their friendly shop-keep he was gay, but he wanted it from the guys own lips. "Yes, of course I'm okay with it." Jacob said, patting Lance's hand, which was resting by his. //Oh well// Lance thought. It wasn't exactly what he wanted, but he's okay, and he's not freaking out. It was only after Lance felt the tension suddenly leaving him that he noticed Jacobs rather red nose, and puffed up eyes. "Are you okay Jacob? You look..." "Sick, I know. I've had this damn flu for what seems like forever and I can't seem to shake it." "Maybe I could help with that?" Lance said, his voice more flirty than he had intended. "You think I'm some kind of slut, Lance BASS." Jacob shouted. "Someone who you can just pick up, no questions asked. You're famous Lance, not a God." Jacobs's outburst ended with that. Lance's face had gone a ghostly pale, and there were tears held in his shining green eyes. "J-Jacob. T-That's not what I meant, I just meant that..." "I know exactly what you meant, Lance!" Jacob shouted his name again, as if to state a fact. He hadn't realised when he looked over to the guys, but when Lance had sat down beside him he had instantly known who it was. Although not a big fan of their music, Jacob had a younger cousin, Emily who was a big fan. He'd seen a few pictures of them and had to admit Lance was always his favourite, although, Kevin from the BackStreet Boys came in a close second. Jacob knew he was probably blowing this out of proportion. But a few previous bad experience's with this kind of thing, a bad flu, and a head throbbing like no one could understand was all building up and taking it's toll. He looked back into Lance's shining eyes, seeing the pain and hurt filling them. In Lance's case his eyes really were the windows to his sole. Green met green as Jacob and Lance's gaze locked once more. Jacob wanted to apologise, Lance wanted to put back the clock and start again. But Jacob was stubborn and Lance knew all he could do now was try and fix things. "Jacob." Lance began his voice quiet, and quivering slightly. Upon hearing no response and seeing in Jacob's eyes that he was not going to get one Lance continued. "I'm sorry for what you think I meant. I don't know how we got from complete strangers to arguing strangers so quickly. All I can say is that's not what I meant. Sure I am interested in you." Lance slapped a hand over his mouth in what he'd just admitted. //What's wrong with me?// Lance asked himself. Jacob was now staring at Lance. Trying to see if what Lance had said was true. He'd had people lie to him before to get him into bed. Give up what he'd kept for `someone he truly-loved'. It was only thanks to Sebastian been there on several occasions that Jacob hadn't been forced to give up what was his. But he was thinking ahead of himself. Lance could get sex from anyone. He was famous, had lots of money. If that's what he wanted why wouldn't he just pick someone off the street to have. As the voices waged a war inside Jacobs's head, Lance's tears were still reigned up in Lance's eyes. This could go one of two ways. Absolutely fantastic, meaning maybe the start of something special. Or totally wrong, meaning Lance would never again come out of the tight shell he had built to protect himself. Weighing up what Jacob knew of Lance, Jacob finally made a decision. "Lance." //He sounds calm, relaxed.// Lance thought as he hoped for good news. "I'm really flattered that you like me that way. Really I am. But, I don't know you, and thinking ahead a while. I don't think I'm prepared to make sacrifices such as keeping myself from the public, pining after you when you're away on tour, and everything else that would come alone with this seemingly great package. I'm sorry Lance." Jacob finished before, turning and heading for the door. "Thanks, Seb, for the tea. Oh, and uh...sorry about the..." Sebastian nodded in understanding, watching his friend leave Sebastian knew he had to do something. Before his friend made possibly the biggest mistake of his life. Sure, Jacob didn't know Lance, and Lance didn't know Jacob, but Sebastian knew when two people clicked. When two people fit together naturally. Jacob and Lance were these two people. "Shot down huh Lancey?" Chris shouted from across the shop, after seeing the dark haired guy leave and Lance about to burst into tears. "CHRIS!" Justin chastised angrily. Lance was grateful for Justin's defence. But Chris was right. He wasn't good enough for Jacob. Not good enough for anyone. Jacob was right. What besides money and 15 minutes of fame could Lance, offer? Not much of a private life, or life at all with the career schedule they had. "Hey man." Sebastian spoke from behind Lance. Lance didn't respond, once more lost in his thoughts. Despair seeping into his sole more and more as each second passed. "Jacob," Sebastian started, ignoring the quiver he saw pass through Lance at his friends name. //Wow Jacob, you've really got to this one.// "He likes you, I can tell. You've got to put some pressure on him, and not give him time to think things through like you did just now. He over analysis. He'll find some problem from any situation if you give him time. Show some force and do something to stop him thinking." With that said, Sebastian slipped a small scrap of paper into Lance's hand, which had written on it an address and phone number. "I know who you are Lance, and I'm trusting you with this." Sebastian indicated the phone number. "But if you do anything, and I mean anything to hurt my friend I'm gonna hurt you. Now go and find your man!" Sebastian slapped Lance's back for luck before heading back to his book he was reading. Lance looked at the sheet of paper thinking much like Jacob had done earlier. `Don't think just do' Were what Sebastian meant. Maybe he should take some of that advice as well? "Guys, I'm gonna go and try to find Jacob. I'll be back at the hotel in a few hours. I'll call you to let you know exactly when." Seeing that Chris was going to say something, and JC as well by the looks of things Justin quickly spoke up. "That's fine Lance. We'll see you back there." Justin grinned, knowingly at his friend. "Just remember tomorrow we need to be at a photo shoot at 10am." JC informed Lance. Not happy with this arrangement, but wanting his friend to cheer up for once he thought it was best. Lance nodded to his friends before turning and heading out. He noticed from the address that Jacob didn't live to far from here, and he could get there by walking pretty fast. //He shouldn't have walked, or even been out in this!// Lance thought, harshly. Already feeling, a protectiveness over this guy he barely knew. He saw that Jacob was sick. Probably from the flu everyone seemed to have right now. Thoughts filled Lance's head as he quickly moved through the streets, only knowing vaguely the layout of the area from previous visits. It was still raining heavily, and the temperature was icy-cold. He managed to find the apartment building, and quickly made his way up flights of stairs, upon finding no elevator. //What's he gonna think now? I'm stalking him. I'm expecting something. What are the guys gonna think? I'm just splashing around my sexual preference to the first guy I meet that I actually have an interest in.// Technically that was true, but he really felt something with Jacob, something he couldn't describe. He was finally in front of Jacob's door. Room 19. //This is it.// Lance thought before moving forward and knocking. "Just a minute." A muffled yell came through the door. A lock could be heard moving around and the door began to open, and there he was. Jacob. To Be Continued.
