This story is a companion part to A Brand New Feeling, so if you haven't read that, I suggest you do. This story will explain what went on with Lance & Joey's relationship before the story started, and up to it. I may continue it right along with the other story. Also, if you have time, please check out my other story, The Beauty. ****DISCLAIMER**** This story isn't supposed to imply anything about the members of Nsync or anyone else involved in the story. This is all made up. In better English, IT'S NOT REAL! If you're too young in your area or it's illegal, then leave. If homosexual themes offend you then you may want to leave as well. Prologue - Joey Fatone and Lance Bass had been dating for sometime, and had finally made the decision to be married. The relationship was going so well, and so fresh still. The wedding was beautiful. It was done very traditionally in a church in Vermont, the wedding colors were black and red. 'The Superman wedding' as everyone had begun to call it lasted 3 whole days of festivities. The media coverage was unbelievable, but everything still went off without a hitch. The honeymoon was special, because Lance had given himself to Joey as a virgin. Joey, however, wasn't one, but it didn't matter, because they both knew that they would be with no one else but each other. The week after the honeymoon wasn't so great. Due to everyone wanting to split off, and make their lives different than what they were, 'N Sync had to break up. Justin was the only one still dedicated to it, no one else's hearts were in it anymore. With everyone off doing their own thing, everyone figured that everybody else was set after the breakup. Lance had his FreeLance thing, along with his movie production company that he started at the beginning of 2001. JC had already started his solo project, and was trying to think of how he was ever going to propose to his boyfriend, Drew Lachey, of the previously broken up boy group 98 degrees. Chris had FuMan Skeeto, and also a million other things he was planning or had already started. And Justin. well. Justin had things he could have been doing.. he just preferred to drink at JC's house all day. As for Joey, he had been doing acting for some time, but he was starting to lose faith in the industry. He began to spend his days at home drinking as well, and waiting for Lance to come home so they could do something together. It was a very pathetic system, and that's where the story begins. Chapter 1 - "Joeyyy? I'm home!" Lance Bass-Fatone shouted as he walked in the house that he shared with his husband Joey Fatone. "I'm in here!" Lance went to the sound of the voice, and found Joey laying on the couch watching Oprah. With a deep sigh, he picked up the remote and clicked it off. "Hey, Joe." "Hey, baby. Come here, I have to tell you something!" Joey opened his arms, and Lance set down his papers then went to Joey. Once they were both snuggled up on the couch together, Joey turned the TV back on. "Joey, NO TV! You watch it all day! Am I not important to you?" "Of course you are important to me, Lance! You're the most important thing to me in the entire world! Don't say that! No, see, I want to show you something!" He flipped about 6 or so channels before he came upon a movie channel. It was the movie they were both in a few years back. Lance looked so much younger and carefree, it was almost a sad site. "Joe, turn it off." Lance commanded firmly. He was NOT in the mood to see himself on TV. Joey obediently flipped it off, then cradled the younger man in his arms. "How was work?" "Fine. Have you done ANYTHING today?" "No need to be rude.." Joey pouted, and kissed Lance on the cheek. "Of course I did something. I aerobisized, and then I vacuumed, and then I. I had a drink, I ordered some paper view porn, I bought a new-" "JOEY!" "What!? You asked what I did! I'm being honest." "Why did you do it? You knew I'd be home later, and then we could have fun." "I had an urge. I went with it. Is that so bad!?" Joey stood up quickly, knocking Lance onto his butt on the floor. He climbed back up onto the couched and rubbed his newly sore behind. "Um. no. Joe, how many drinks did you have?" "You know what? I don't think you need to know. I'm going to go see Chris! I really don't want to be around you right now!" Joey slipped on his jacket, and began walking to the door. "But Joey. Joey. I'm sorry, come back, please?" "God! I TRY to be a good husband! I really do! I clean, I try to get fit like you asked, and what do I get for having a little me 'fun time?' YELLED AT!" He slammed his fist viciously against the little coffee table by the door. Lance jumped up and ran to hug him. "Please, Joey, I'm sorry. You can have fun time. I shouldn't have gotten mad. I wasn't really mad, I was just playing! I'm sorry." "Oh really?" Joey glared at him in a very strange way. Lance began to get a little nervous, because he knew that Joey could get very violent or very horny when he had been drinking. He really didn't want to have to deal with either. "Yes really." Joey grabbed Lance by the shoulders and shook him very hard. "Don't EVER play with me like that. C'mon, you can go make it up to me." He took Lance's arm and dragged him to the bedroom. Lance knew it wouldn't be so fun, but he really wasn't in the mood to fight anymore. "Hello?" "Hey, Josh." "Hi, Lance! How are you?" "Fine.." "You don't sound fine." "I know." "What's wrong?" "It's Joey, he - hold on." There was a pause. "No, Joey, we don't have any. Why don't you go to the store and get some? Okay.. Yeah, my wallets on the desk. Yeah, take the 4-runner.. Okay. Love you too. Bye." There was another pause, the sound of rustling blankets, then the creak of a bed. "Lance? Still there?" "Uh, yeah, sorry bout that. Just getting comfortable." "Are you in bed? Your not normally such a late sleeper." "I know. I just. I just had a bad night." "What happened?" "Joe and I got in a fight." "You two ALWAYS fight, though." "I know, but this time he had been drinking." "He always drinks though." "THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT!" Lance pulled the covers up to his neck then rolled over. "I know, I'm sorry. What all went on?" "Well, we were arguing because he had done absolutely NOTHING all day. as usual.. and then it kind of escalated from there, and we went to the bedroom to make up, he hit me, and then went to bed." "HE WHAT!?" "He.. uh hit me." "Oh my god!" "JC, calm down! He was drunk! He didn't mean it. He won't do it again. I won't let him." "Where did he just go?" "Who?" "Joey!" "Oh, uh, he went to the store for coconut." "Um, may I ask why?" "For pina coladas." "Oh geez. Lance, I'm coming over." "WHAT!? Why?" "I don't like the idea of Joey drinking with you alone to fend for yourself." "Chris is coming over in a little bit, though." "I'm DEFINITELY coming over!" "JC, JC, please! If you DO come over, don't bring up what happened!" "I don't think I can make that promise. I care about you, and from what you've told me over the past few weeks, all Joey does is drink now. And since he hit you once, he might do it again." He paused, and as if reading Lance's mind, he added, "I'm probably not even going to bring it up. I just want to be there to limit dirnking, and keep you safe." "I feel like such a girl right now." They both laughed. "Don't feel that way. I'll be there in half an hour, okay?" "Okay." "I'm also going to bring Drew along, is that alright?" "Sounds good to me! I haven't seen him in ages." "Okay, see you in a bit!" "Kay. Bye!" Click. Lance laid still for a moment, and then kicked off the blankets. He could hear the TV running from where Joey had been earlier. He got up to investigate. The room was very dark, and it smelled very strongly of alcohol. Two men could be seen on the TV in the sixty-nine position. Lance clicked it off with the remote, and bent over to pick up some trash and wrappers off the floor. Once finished, he headed to the shower so he could be clean and fresh by the time JC and Drew arrived. "Lance?" Joey opened the door, and stepped inside carrying a grocery sack with coconut and some more bottles of liquer in it. "Hey Joey!" A voice called cheerfully from the den. "JC?" "Yeah! Come on in!" He apprehensively walked into the den to find JC and Drew cuddling on the couch while Lance sat across from them in a recliner. Lance looked up, and Joey raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, uh, hey honey. They just.. dropped by! When's Chris supposed to be here?" He stood up to give his husband a proper 'welcome home' kiss, and then sat back down. "I suspect very soon." Strangely enough, the doorbell rang at that moment. "That must be him. I'll go get it." He left the room with the bag still in hand. "So, uh, how are you two doing?" "Great! I still love this stupid man. I guess that makes ME stupid!" Drew said with a laugh and shrug. "That's cool. Hey, where's Justin at? We've got almost everyone here, cept Curly." "He's. at my house. Passed out on the couch probably. Don't worry about him. He'll be fine all alone." JC's faced took on a slightly angry look as he spoke of Justin. Lance got off the subject quickly sensing Josh's distaste for Justin at the moment. "Okay. Would either of you like anything to drink? We've got.basically any alcoholic drink you could want, tons of soda, juice, milk, or even water if you prefer." Lance stood up, trying to be a good host. "I'd like some carbonated water please." "JC?" Lance asked, turning to him. "Just a Pepsi or a Coke or something is fine." "Okay, I'll be right back!" He trotted off into the kitchen, and was quickly replaced with Joey and Chris. "There goes my baby. Always's trying to be the sweet host. I'd like a beer!" He shouted, turning towards the kitchen. "Me too!" Chris called out as well. "So, JC, Drew, good to see you both!" Joey and Chris took over the two last places to sit. Lance soon came back with all four drinks, and handed them out accordingly. There was no place for him to sit when he was done. "I'll just. Um." "C'mere, baby." Joey reached out his arms for Lance, and Lance sat obediently in his lap, cuddling up to his husband. "You look tired Lance, did you not sleep much last night?" Lance shook his head. "Okay, well, why don't you go take a nap? I'll entertain the guests til you wake up." "Okay." Lance replied, and began up the stairs to the bedroom. "I think I might go take a nap too." Drew said, and stood up, winking secretively at JC. "Sure! You know where the guestbedroom is!" Drew nodded, and followed Lance up the stairs. "Lance! Wait!" He called, and hurried into the bedroom with him before he shut the door. "Uh, hey Drew, do you need something?" "Just to talk. Is that alright, or are you really tired? "I wouldn't mind talking for awhile, but then I really should get some sleep. Joey was right. I am kind of tired." "Why didn't you get much sleep last night?" "Didn't. um. JC tell you what happened?" "He did, but why didn't you sleep?" "I was too worried about Joey." "Worried about Joey? What for?" "I dunno. Just worried. I managed to get to sleep at about 1 or 2. or 3 or 4. But Joey woke me back up at 9:00 when he got up." "Oh. Have you talked to Joey yet? I mean, about last night?" "No, and I'm not going to it. I'd be surprised if he even remembered some of it." "You really should talk to him about it. The most important thing in a marriage is communication, and if you can't communicate with him, then things are only going to get worse. I'll be there with you when you talk to him about it if you'd like." "No thank you." Lance turned away towards the bed, and layed down on his stomach. "Okay, well, if you change your mind, you know where I'll be and my number." Drew quickly patted Lance on the shoulder, and then quietly left the room so Lance could sleep. JC was standing right outside the bedroom when he walked out. "Aaaa! You scared me!" "Sorry, baby. I just wanted to know how things went with Lance." "He still doesn't want to talk to Joey. Do you think.. maybe. that WE should intervene?" "I think that I'm going to let it go this time. If it happens again, then I'm going to get involved a lot more, but I'm going to give Joey the benefit of a doubt like Lance suggested. "Okay. I agree with you on that. So what are they doing in the den?" "Reminicing." "Bout what?" "Old touring days. Mainly remembering all the old pranks. Especially all the ones they pulled on me." "Yeah, so you've told me. Hehe." "I do NOT think it's funny." "Sorry. no I'm not." Drew said as he busted up laughed. "You should be! HEY! C'MERE!" JC shouted as Drew bolted down the stairs, and he quickly set off after him. Lance awoke to darkness in his and Joey's bedroom. He could hear shouting from downstairs, and loud music. Joey's voice was the loudest as it bellowed out something about Chris owing him money. Lance quickly went downstairs to see what was going on, and found Joey and Chris dancing around the room like fools, while JC and Drew madeout on the couch, looking as if they were both about to get off. Hoping to be heard, Lance coughed loudly. JC, the previous voice of sanity, jumped up, and pulled Lance into the dancing. They were all. drunk. "Let go of me!" He cried, and pushed JC back. "What? Oh, Lance, dude, I'm sorry." JC backed up nervously, and went back to Drew on the couch. "Lance! Lance! Lance! BE FUN!" Joey said gleefully, picked up Lance and twirled him around. "Put me down, Joey!" He pounded on the older man's shoulders, but it was to no avail. Finally, Joey set him down, and pressed his lips to Lances. Lance angrily pushed Joey off of him. "What is wrong with you people!? I leave you alone for." He looked to the clock. It was 7:45. He'd slept away almost the entire day! 'I must have not gotten very much sleep at all!' He thought to himself. "ALMOST 7 HOURS!" He cried out, but no one seemed to notice. "Lancey, be fun, k babe? We're all just having a lil fun, so what's say you and me go upstairs, and have fun too?" Lance thought for a moment. "Okay, Joey, you go up there, get alllll undressed, and you lay on the bed, and I'll be up there in a sec, okay?" "OKAY!" Joey yelled, then ran upstairs. "I love him, but he's stupid sometimes." Lance thought aloud. "CHRIS!" The man nearly jumped out of his chair at Lance's shouting. "WHAT!?" "Chris, you know that guest bedroom we have?" "Uhhhh, yeah." "Go to bed in there." "I'm not tired." "Yes you are. You just told me you were drowsy." "I did?" "Yeah." "Oh, okay. G'night, Lance!" He cried out cheerfully, and then ran upstairs to one of the rooms. "JC! DREW!" "HMM! What?" JC asked, wiping off his mouth. "Drew, did you drink?" "Only a little. Not a big drinker. Everyone's antics are better to catch sober." He added with a smile. "Okay, you take Josh home, alright? Drive safe." "I will. C'mon, honey, let's go home." "Mmm, alright, baaaaaabeeee." JC slurred as Drew pulled him to the front door. "I had a really good time, Lance. I'm sorry things turned out like this. Joey brought out the liquer, and Chris brought up this stupid game he knew about, and JC decided to play, and well. sorry." "That's okay, Drew. I'm used to this." Lance bent over to pick up the bottles strewn about the floor. "You shouldn't have to be. Call me tomorrow okay? I'll be taking care of this runt all morning, so you know where I'll be." "I know. Bye Drew." "Bye Lance. Take care." And he shut the door behind him. Lance continued about the den picking up bottles, and stray trash. Once it was all cleaned up, he sadly headed back up the stairs. Heading upstairs, he came to find Joey laying on the bed naked, fast asleep. He pushed his husband onto his side, and put a blanket over him, then crawled in himself. "Goodnight, sweetheart." He whispered, and wrapped his arms around his mate. Sleep wouldn't come fast, but atleast he was more comfortable than the night before. "Lance." No reply. "Lance." Lance could feel someone rubbing his chest. It felt good, and he didn't want it to stop so he didn't reply. "Lance, wake up baby. You've slept later than me, now it's time for you to get up." Still no reply. "Lance, c'mon. It's Sunday, we've got the day to ourselves..Lance.Lance." "I don't wanna." Finally. A reply. Joey smiled, and sat down beside his fairskinned husband, stroking his face and hair softly. "Wake up baby. Your so beautiful this morning." "Mmm." Lance's eyes fluttered open, and he gave Joey a strange look. "C'mon. Up. Hey, see, I even took some Tylenol r this morning, no headache!" He said with a smile, and then pulled Lance up to a sitting position. "Baby, we didn't get to have much fun last night." Lance's eyes narrowed. "That's because you drank too much. as usual." "Hey, hey. None of that today, alright? I won't drink anything today, it will just be us. How about a. picnic?" The sound of a picnic sounded horribly enticing to Lance, and he nodded his agreement. "Mhmm, and we can have some chicken, and lemonade, all old fashioned like. Do you want to invite anyone?" "JC and Drew, and Chris and Dani. and Justin." "Um, alright. And afterwards, me.. and you. can go that pretty spot.. you know where it is. and we can have some fun.. okay?" Lance nodded again, and Joey helped him out of the bed. "You get dressed, I'll go make you a little breakfast, and then call up everyone, mmkay?" "Okay." He leaned in and gave Joey a sweet kiss, then headed off to the bathroom. Okay, Chapter one of The Feel Of Honesty is out of the way! Sorry it's taken me so long. I was going through a lot of emotional distress, and ended up in the hospital for 7 days!
