The small golden circlet had an overwhelming sense of power. He shook his head slightly resisting the urge to pick up the ring and throw it as far away as he could. Justin tore his gaze from the ring and looked at Frodo. The small hobbit was having an even worse reaction to the ring then he was. A light sheen of sweat was upon his brow and he was shaking in his seat. Justin was going to say a kind word to him before Elrond began to talk. Elrond began to explain why they had all been summoned. The One Ring had been found and this Council was to decide what was to be done with it. He began to tell of the forging of the Rings of Power in the Second Age and of the defeat of Sauron by Isildur. Elrond spoke of the Ring's betrayal of Isildur and how it came to be in the hands of Frodo's Uncle Bilbo Baggins who sat quietly on the other side of Gandalf. A dwarf stood and told them of his meeting with Sauron's messager. Justin didn't pay him much attention since he didn't know who Sauron was anyway. However, he was all ears as the blonde who caught his eye earlier told them of the creature Gollum's escape from the forest of Mirkwood. The brown haired man whom he had also noticed earlier stood and addressed the council. Justin groaned inwardly. The men here were really doing a number on his hormones. The man told them of what was happening in the city of Gondor and of him receiving a mysterious dream asking him to come to Rivendell and seek the help of Elrond. "We should use the ring. It is a gift. A gift to the foes of Mordor," said Boromir. Justin sat up his chair and stared at the man in confusion. That ring was evil couldn't he see that. The man continued on. "Why not use this Ring? Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor kept the forces of Mordor at bay by the blood of our people are your lands kept safe. Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him!" The Council was a bit taken back by his empathic speech. "You cannot wield it. None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master." Aragorn said wisely. Justin had not noticed this man before. Like the other men assembled he too was handsome as well. He was dressed in all black with a sword strapped to his side. Boromir scoffed at Aragorn. "What would a Ranger know of this matter?" The blonde elf stood up quickly from his seat ready to defend his friend from scorn. "This is no mere Ranger. He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance." Justin blinked and looked at Aragorn. So that made him a king if he remembered the story he had heard correctly. The man did have an air of authority about him. Justin wasn't the only one surprised by this. Boromir looked at Aragorn with an emotion that Justin couldn't identify. "Aragorn. This is Isildur's heir?" "And heir to the throne of Gondor?" the elf finished. Aragorn stood and held his hand up. "Havo dad, Legolas," he said in Elvish. 'Sit down, Legolas,' Justin thought idly. Justin eyes widened as he realized his mind translated the sentence Aragorn said into English. Somehow he understood Elvish. He grinned inwardly as he also realized he had found out the name of the blonde elf. 'Legolas,' he mused silently. 'Somehow it suits him.' Boromir gave Aragorn a look of disdain. "Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king." "Aragorn is right," said Gandalf. He knew exactly what the ring was capable of us. "We cannot use the ring." Elrond nodded. "There is only one choice. The ring must be destroyed." The dwarf Gimli stood up with his axe that was almost bigger than he was. "What are we waiting for?!" He starts toward the ring and smashes it with his hammer. There is a flash of light and Gimli is thrown backwards, onto the ground. Pieces of the now broken axe surround him. "The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor, and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came," said Elrond looking around the room. "One of you must do this." Boromir looked at the Elf lord in disbelief. "One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye is ever-watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air that you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly." Legolas shook his head and glared at the Steward of Gondor. "Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The ring must be destroyed!" Justin raised an eyebrow at Legolas. 'Here I thought Elves in this place were quiet and always calm.' "And I suppose you think you're the one to do it?!" Gimli yelled his cheeks flushed in anger. It seemed dwarfs didn't particularly like Elves and vice versa Justin noticed. Suddenly came upon them. The Elves stood up and the dwarfs did also. And the two groups faced off in the middle. Everyone except for Frodo and Justin were sitting in their seats. Justin looked at Frodo to gauge his reaction to this anarchy. The halfling seemed to be trying to come to a decision. Justin could tell he came to one as his face became determined and his eyes hardened. Frodo stood from his seat. "I will take it!" he yelled over the loud voices. "I will take it!" Everybody stopped and listened to him. "I will take the Ring to Mordor... Though I do not know the way." Gandalf walked over to stand beside Frodo. He placed his hand on his shoulder and looked down at him with sadness. "I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins. As long as it is yours to bear. You have my staff." Aragorn moves and stands in front of Frodo. "If by my life or death, if I can protect you, I will." He kneels beside the hobbit. "You have my sword." Gandalf eyes twinkled and he winked at Elrond. Elrond nodded subtly. Justin saw the exchange. He supposed it meant something. Though he forgot about it as Legolas too moved to stand beside Frodo. "You have my bow." Gimli moved to Frodo's side too. Not wanting to be outdone by an elf. "You have my axe." Boromir walked slowly over to Frodo. "You carry the fates of us all, little one," he said gravely. Aragorn placed his hand on his shoulder in support. "If it is the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done." "Here!" They turned their heads to see another hobbit come jumping out of the bushes he was obviously hiding behind. He runs up behind the group to stand at Frodo's side. "Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me." Elrond looked at the hobbit with a small amount of amusement in his eyes. "No, indeed, it is hardly possible to separate you from him, even when he is summoned to a secret Council, and you are not." A movement in the entranceway caught Justin's eye. Two more hobbits stood there. One was blonde and the other had dark brown hair. "Oi! We're coming too!" The two hobbits left the door and half ran to Frodo's side. "You'll have to send us home tied up in a stack to stop us." The blonde one said. "Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission. Quest. Thing." Said the brown haired one. "That rules you out Pip," the blonde said slyly. Exasperated Elrond gave them permission to accompany their companion. After all the commotion died down, everyone returned to their seats. The hobbits sat in front of Frodo. Justin bit the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing. The hobbits kept looking at one another winking and making faces. 'It's like watching an episode of the Teletubbies,' he thought while watching their antics. Elrond stood and motioned for silence. "We have another matter to discuss. That is the miraculous appearance of Justin son of..." He looked at Justin for assistance. He knew what Elrond wanted. He noticed it was tradition to introduce yourself by name then by descendence. "Randall," Justin supplied. "It is my belief that Justin was sent here, in answer to the prayer I spoke. It is by Iluvatar's divine will that Justin accompany Frodo to save all Middle-Earth from the shadow of Mordor. He must also journey with Frodo to Mordor to see the ring destroyed for it is his destiny that he play a large role in defeating Sauron once and for all. His presence is a gift from the light of Iluvatar. He can save us all." Gimli snorted. "What can this 'boy' do?" Normally Justin what have said some comeback to that, but he wanted to put on a good first impression. Gandalf spoke up in Justin's defense. "When Iluvatar brought him here he changed him. He was before just Man. Now he is part Elf, Man, and wizard. He is not someone to be taken lightly." Those gathered gasped. Justin blushed and turned his gaze to the ground. They were looking at him like he was a fish in a fish tank. Elrond looked around the sea of faces seeing if anyone wanted to voice anything else. "Ten companions. So be it! You will be the Fellowship of the Ring." The blond hobbit jumped up from the ground and clapped his hands together. "Great. So where are we going?" ********* Justin was in his room getting ready for dinner. He looked in the mirror at his appearance. He was in a blue robe that resembled the one he wore earlier today. He fingered his ears lightly. He was starting to get used to the pointy ends a little. A knock sounded on his door. "Come in," he called. The door opened and Arwen walked in. Justin smiled at the woman. "Hello, Arwen." "Hello, Justin. I am here to show you to the dining hall." Justin nodded and took her offered arm. Justin couldn't even begin to remember the way to the dining hall even if he wanted to. The halls turned and branched off so many times that he lost count. They entered the room and he gazed around in awe. The hall was a magnificent display of architecture. It was built so it protected against the outside forces of nature yet it was open to the outside. He looked around the room and recognized many of the faces from today's meeting. Aragorn walked over to them with Legolas by his side. Justin gulped at the sight of the blonde. Legolas was wearing all white and to Justin he looked like an angel from heaven. Aragorn bowed slightly before Arwen and brought her hand to his lips lightly kissing it. Justin smiled. It was obvious these two were in love. Aragorn reached out his hand to Justin. "I am sorry we haven't met earlier. I am Aragorn," Aragon grasped Justin's forearm instead of his hand and shook it. Justin hid his surprise. "I am Justin." Legolas stepped up and offered his hand. "I am Legolas Greenleaf." Justin grasped his hand. "I'm Justin Timerlake." Justin was lost in a sea of green. Legolas's eyes were a brilliant green. They were even prettier than Lance's on sea green eyes. "Its-its-nice to meet you," Justin stuttered. Legolas smiled making Justin's knees go weak. "Its nice to meet you too." He reluctantly released the Elf's arm. He dropped his hand to his side all ready saddened by the loss of the Elf's warm hand. 'Get a hold of yourself, Timberlake,' he chastised himself. He The other members of the fellowship introduced themselves to him. He learned the three hobbits names were Merry, Pippin, and Sam. In the center of the hall was a long grand table. On top was a feast fit for a king. Everyone took their seats and stories and tales were exchanged throughout the course of the meal. Justin listened with rapt attention to the stories that were being told. Then the topic of conversation focused on him. "What did you for a living in your world?" Aragorn asked from his seat next to Arwen. "I was a singer," Justin said wondering if they even had music. 'I guess they don't,' he thought. Everyone present had an expression of confusion on his or her face. Elrond sat at the head of table. "You mean you sang for a living?" They didn't have people who did that in Middle-Earth. Justin nodded. "I and my friends make up a group called Nsync. We are very successful. We are known all throughout my world." He felt a pang of homesickness as he thought about his friends. "You cant have made a lot of money just from singing." Said Gimli doubtfully. Justin smirked a little. "I have enough money to see that myself and even my great grand children will never have to work again." He didn't mean to brag, but he didn't like someone talking bad about his singing. That shut Gimli up. Legolas who sat beside Aragorn smiled at Justin. "Could you sing for us then?" he asked. Before Justin even thought the request through he nodded. He got the feeling he wouldn't be able to resist anything the blonde asked of him. Justin rose his seat. He closed his eyes and searched his mind for a good slow ballet. He wanted something that was moving yet could be done well without music. He quickly came up with one. It was a favorite of his and Britney's. He glanced at those green eyes once more before closing his eyes and beginning. There's a song that inside of my soul. It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again. I'm awake in the infinite cold, but you sing to me over and over and over again. So I lay my head back down, and I lift my hands and pray to be only yours I pray to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. Sing to me the song of the stars. Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again. When it feels like my dreams are so far, sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again. So I lay my head back down, and I lift my hands and pray to be only yours I pray to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. I give you my destiny. I'm giving you all of me. I want your symphony. Singing in all that I am. At the top of my lungs, I'm giving it back. So I lay my head back down, and I lift my hands and pray to be only yours I pray to be only yours. I pray to be only yours. I know now you're my only hope. He hadn't meant to sing the whole song. He only meant to do a verse, but years of performing hadn't let him. He opened his eyes and was greeted with silence. No one in the room was moving. They stared transfixed as if he was a stranger. Suddenly, Legolas rose from his seat and started clapping. Justin blushed as everyone else in the room followed the Elf's example. The whole room was on their feet applauding him. Justin eyes met Legolas's and for a moment no one else's praise mattered more than the elf's. ******** So what do you think. Do you like it?
