Chapter 102 "Um...hi, Dylan," AJ said, his sheepish smile belying the fear I saw in his eyes. "What're you doin' here?" "Gee, AJ," I replied, sarcasm dripping from every syllable, "I live here. What the fuck's your excuse?" "Dylan," Scot started to speak, but froze when I directed a withering glare in his direction. I turned back to AJ, lifting an eyebrow to let him know I was waiting. "I came to visit Scot, DJ," he said hesitantly. He obviously wasn't ready for me to show up. "I kinda gathered that, AJ," I told him, the sarcasm still thick in my voice. "What I hadn't really figured out is why you're `visit' has taken the form of you two naked in MY BED!" AJ sighed and looked away. Scot looked as though he was praying the floor would open up and swallow him. Frankly, I didn't blame him. It would probably be kinder than what I'd do to him. "Look, DJ...Dylan," AJ spoke up again. "Why don't you let us get ourselves together, and we'll talk about this? Please?" I stared him down for a moment, letting him know I wasn't happy, just in case he hadn't already guessed that. Then, I nodded and walked out of the room before I could change my mind. The two of them came down a few moments later. Scot still looked physically ill. He was obviously terrified about what I was gonna do. AJ looked amazingly calm and collected. I gathered that someone walking in on him in bed wasn't really a new thing. AJ walked over to the couch and sat down. Scot sat next to him, with no space in between. I noticed the closeness of their body language and began to realize that this situation might be different than I'd originally thought. "So, would you mind explaining this to me?" I asked once they were settled. "You know that we met that day you moved in here, right?" AJ began. I just nodded, not wanting to say anything. "We didn't really talk or anything that day. We got a chance to talk a few weeks later when I came down to visit you. You were working or something when I got here, so I had some time to kill. Scot was shooting some hoops in his driveway, so we talked." "We became friends, man. We talked once in a while, on the phone. Nothin' too serious. Just shootin' the breeze and all." I nodded again. I was still waiting for the path from `once in a while on the phone' to naked and doin' the deed in MY bed. "When Kev got knifed," AJ's voice got quieter, and I felt a tremor go through me. "When he got knifed, I really needed someone to talk to. You were in bad shape, and we were all worried about Kev, obviously. I didn't wanna add to the weight there, so I started talkin' to Scot more." "I don't know if I was much help," Scot found his voice, quiet though it was. "I was pretty much a basket case, too. You remember how I feel...how I felt about Kevin." He finally looked me in the eyes, then. I stared back a moment before nodding at him. I did remember his crush on Kevin. I also noticed how he changed mid-sentence to say "FELT about Kevin". "But you were, man," AJ said, looking over at the young man next to him with a small smile. Scot's face literally lit up at seeing that smile. "You were great to talk with. It really helped me to be able to talk to ya `bout things." AJ turned his attention back to me. "The long and the short of it is that I really like Scot, DJ," he said. I noted how he started using my nickname again. "We got three days off from the studio cause Kevin was gonna be back and had some solo work to do." He stopped here and actually blushed, something I almost never saw AJ do. "I was expecting you to go to LA with him. I didn't think you'd come back here alone." "I'm moving to Orlando, AJ, moving in with Kevin," I replied, filling him in on the decision. He smiled a little, a smile that faded when he saw the anger still on my face. "I came home to work out getting someone to rent the place and to see what stuff I would or wouldn't take to Orlando with me." "I did NOT, however, expect to find the two of you together in MY bed, something which you still haven't explained to me," I said, my voice raising a little. I turned to Scot. "I trusted you to look after my place. And, while I'm happy that you two seem to've found each other," I dropped a bit of sarcasm in, "I am less than thrilled that you found each other where you did." "We couldn't go anywhere else, Dylan," Scot spoke up, defending himself. "I live in an apartment with two guys who don't know I'm gay. I sure as hell couldn't go home to Mom and Dad. I have exams in class tomorrow, so I couldn't go to Orlando to AJ's house. So, we decided to come here." He was nearly in tears. "Look, DJ, we fucked up, ok?" AJ spoke up, verbally putting himself between Scot and I. I could tell he was starting to get mad. "But it's not like we had a wild party and wrecked the place or anything. Lighten up already," AJ was starting to get mad, now. "AJ, you had SEX IN MY BED! I'm sorry, but I don't really appreciate that a whole lot. Christ, you could've at least used the damn spare bedroom!" "Well, we didn't ok? But it's over and done with, so get over it!" AJ yelled back at me. He reached a hand over to take one of Scot's. That gesture, for some reason, immediately took the steam out of my anger. I thought back to what it was like for Kevin and I in the beginning, how we had to keep things secret. I thought back further, remembering what it was like to be in Scot's position, where no one else knew I was gay. "Scot," I said, my voice noticeably quieter. "Would you mind going upstairs and changing the bedding on my bed? There's some spare sheets and stuff in the hall closet." I turned to look at AJ. "I need to talk to Alex for a minute." Scot sat there a moment before standing up and heading for the stairs. "Do you love him, AJ?" I asked when he'd gone. "I...I dunno, Dylan," he replied softly. "But, when I'm with him, I'm happier than I've been in a long time. And, when I'm not with him, I'm thinking about being with him." I stared at my friend, examining his face. "A few weeks back," I began, still studying his eyes, "the night I got attacked on the beach, I told you that I'd always be there for you." I paused. "If being with Scot makes you happy, then go for it. Just..." I trailed off, stopping again. "Be careful, AJ. He's young, and pretty new to this. I don't wanna see either of you hurt." "I know, D," he said. I raised an eyebrow at his use of Kev's nickname. He just shrugged and smiled his sexy little smile at me. "I promise I'll be careful. For both of us." Scot came back down a few minutes later, holding my bundled up sheets under one arm. I smiled a little at the look on his face. He seemed to relax when he saw that. I stood up, ready to head back upstairs. "Look, you two can take the spare room. I'm heading for a shower, then bed. I'm exhausted," I said, coincidentally yawning as I headed for the stairs. "Oh, and by the way," I said, pausing on the first step to look over at them. "No sex tonight, huh guys? AJ's vocal about EVERYTHING, so I can't imagine he'd be quiet during a round of `wild monkey sex'," I said, drawing a chuckle from AJ. I slid a glance at Scot. "And they say that it's always the quiet ones who are loudest when they're doin' the deed." I could practically hear the blood rushing to his face as I turned and walked upstairs. Chapter 103 "Are you sure you're ok with this?" Scot asked me for about the hundredth time. I sighed before turning to him. "Yes, Scot. I swear on my love for boybands and all things made of chocolate that I'm ok!" I said, smiling to hide my exasperation. "Now, grab that box and take it out to the garage, please?" It was Friday morning, and I was trying to get through stuff before I left that night to fly out and meet up with Kevin. AJ had flown out late last night, heading out to hook up with the other guys. From what Kevin had told me on the phone, things were going very well. They were actually hoping to get everything wrapped up within a few weeks. We hadn't told anyone else about the wedding date, yet. Kevin wanted to tell all of the guys together, and that was fine with me. We'd wanted to tell our families in person, but Kevin's schedule just wasn't going to let that happen. So, we'd decided to tell them on the phone once I got out there. And then there was Scot. He was driving me nuts, actually. He was so paranoid about my reaction to his relationship with AJ. I wasn't really sure why my opinion mattered so much to him, but it apparently did. At that point, he was lucky I'd never found any cliffs in Florida, cause I'd have been tempted to throw him off of one! "That's the last of the stuff you wanted, Dylan," Scot's voice broke in on my musings. I turned and nodded at him. "Good," I said. "Why don't you sit down here, Scot? I think we should talk." He nodded, suddenly shy again. "Look," I began, "AJ's my friend, and I love him like a brother, but does it really matter that much to YOU if I approve of your relationship?" He looked at me a moment, obviously searching for something. "You don't really know, do you?" he asked. "Know what?" I wondered, totally lost about what he was talking about. "Know what you mean to AJ. What the two of you, Kevin and you, mean to him." I just continued to stare, not really sure what he was getting at. "Out of all the guys," he continued, "AJ's always bonded strongest with Kevin. He and Howie are best friends, but AJ holds Kevin in a pretty special place." I nodded, not entirely surprised to hear this. Kev's role as `father figure' in the group had given him that bond with several of them. It had also segregated him at times, but that wasn't important at the moment. "When you came into the picture, he saw that threatened," Scot said. I blushed a little and looked away, not wanting Scot to notice the memories on my face. "He told me about that, Dylan," Scot said softly, bringing a surprised look from me. He just smiled and moved on. "You've become almost as important to AJ as Kevin has, Dylan. He thinks a LOT of the two of you, and he places a lot of value on your opinions. If you didn't approve of him and me..." his voice faded as I finally understood his apprehension. "You're afraid that, if Kevin or I say anything against you, AJ will break it off," I said, not really considering it as a question. He nodded in response. I sighed. "Well, I can't say that I really believe he'd do that. As close as AJ might feel to Kevin," I hesitated, "or to me, he's still his own man. I don't think he'd break up with you just on our word. Especially if he feels very strongly about you." "But," I continued, "the fact is that I do approve of anything that makes AJ happy. If that's you, then that's fine. If that changes, then that's fine, too." "I wasn't sure," Scot spoke up. "Your reaction the other night..." "Scot, my reaction was partly surprise that the two of you were so...so close, and I didn't know it. Part of it was the fact that I had no idea you were even friends, and I was a little hurt that AJ hadn't ever told me. I also felt guilty that I'd obviously been neglecting my friendship with AJ if I didn't know about the two of you." "Plus," I hesitated again, "I have this thing about other people sleeping in my bed. I don't like it, and I couldn't even tell you why. So, part of my reaction was just my...discomfort at the thought of someone else sleeping in my bed. Or, having sex in my bed, for that matter." He blushed again. "Now," I said, standing up and speaking briskly, "would you please stop worrying about how I feel about the two of you? If it's supposed to work out, it will." I paused to stare out the window at my back yard. "One thing I've learned in my relatively short life, Scot, is that the universe always finds a way to make things right." I shook myself a little and turned to find Scot staring at me. I smiled, and he answered back. I was glad to see him relaxing, cause I knew if he truly did end up with AJ, we'd be seeing a lot of each other. We spent the rest of the day sorting through the house. I made a list of things that I wanted to take to our house, as well as those things that needed to find storage somewhere. I'd already arranged with a realty holding company to take over management of the property. They were screening applicants and hoped to have someone to move in relatively quickly. I wasn't charging a fortune, so they felt it would be fairly easy to get tenants for the place. Scot went with me to the airport late that afternoon. I was on an evening flight to hook up with Kevin. I was getting excited to see him. So much was coming together, and I couldn't wait to be with the man I loved to share it. Chapter 104 "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Los Angeles, where the current local time is 8:57 pm." The flight attendant's voice came over the speaker system as the pilot taxied the big 767 across the tarmac at LAX. We were running late due to a storm that we'd run afoul of while crossing the Rocky Mountains. I had to admit that I wasn't in the best of moods. The storm had not only delayed us, but it had also made the flight very rough. And the woman who sat next to me on the plane wasn't what could be called a calm flier. There were a few bumps we hit where I thought she was going to tear my arm from its socket. As I walked up the jetway, my mind was focused on one thing. Kevin. My nerves were practically singing with the excitement of being near him again. I could feel him along every inch of my skin. I knew he wasn't far away. The woman who'd sat next to me on the plane was following behind, chatting mindlessly to me. I couldn't say what she was telling me, though. I'd tuned her out, my mind already anticipating the feel of Kevin's arms around me. The gate area was packed. It took me a moment to spot him, but I finally found him standing off to the side. To my dismay, he was surrounded by a group of about 20 giggling young girls. He'd obviously been recognized while he was waiting for me. Our eyes met across the room, and he smiled that slight, sexy little smile that always sent a shock through my spine. I ignored the woman chattering at me and turned to walk to Kevin as he started to walk through the fans and towards me. And then we were together. I felt his arms go around me as he brought his lips to mine. I slid my arms around his slight waist and squeezed him tightly to me. I'd long ago discovered that most of Kevin's kisses had the power to affect my entire universe. Some were simply a jolt; others could bring the whole thing to a screeching halt. This was one of the latter. Time stood still, and everything else around us faded out. His lips tasted so good. His tongue slid into my mouth, giving me a deeper taste of him. It stretched on and on, to the point I began to see stars. It took my mind a moment to register that I wasn't seeing stars. I was seeing flashes. Flashes from the cameras going off around us. I pulled away from Kevin then, embarrassed at the show I was giving everyone. He just smirked at me a little. "Sorry, Kev," I whispered to him. "Didn't mean to get so carried away." I was blushing a little, looking around at everyone out of the corner of my eye. He chuckled at me. "'s ok, D," he whispered back. "I didn't mind a bit." I gave him a light punch on the shoulder when I saw the self-satisfied smirk on his face. "You can be such a show-off, ya know that?" I asked. His only response was to smirk even more. I rolled my eyes and turned over to Tom, who was standing behind Kevin just enjoying the show. "Hi, Tommy-boy, how's it goin'?" I asked, reaching out a hand, which he took and gave a firm shake. "Been doin' pretty good, Dylan," he replied in that quiet way he had. "Trying to keep your boys outta trouble." "Just give up, Tom. I did, a long time ago," I smiled at him. He nodded and returned the smile. "Hell, if I'd known what I was getting in for, I'd have picked YOU instead. Boyband members are SO high maintenance." Tom and I just chuckled while Kevin got an offended look on his face. I could tell by his eyes and general vibe that he wasn't bothered by my little comment to Tom. I did notice a few of the girls around us giving me the eye, though. I shifted my attention back to Kevin. "Are you done here, love, or did you need to hang around a little longer?" I asked, talking softly to avoid too many eavesdropping ears. "No, we can take off. I'm ready to be gone," he replied. For the first time, I noticed how tired his eyes looked. He must've been working like a dog these last few days, trying to catch up with the other guys. I made a mental note to watch how much he was doing. It wouldn't do for him to setback his recovery by overworking himself. I reached down and took his hand in mine, leaning over to grab my suitcase in the other. Tom immediately swooped in and took the handle of my luggage, neatly sliding it from my hand before I could protest. We started through the airport, making our way back to the parking lot. Fortunately, I didn't have any other baggage, so we weren't forced to wait for baggage claim. A number of fans tried to stop us along the way, but I didn't really give them time with Kevin. He was tired, and so was I. Time zone hopping always made me sleepy. And I wanted to be able to hold my man soon. It was nearly ten before we finally pulled up to the hotel. I eased out of Kevin's arms and climbed from the car. The flashes started the instant the door opened, and I couldn't prevent a slight groan. Kevin followed me out of the car, grabbing my hand before walking inside. I noticed he didn't respond much to the fans, something that he'd normally do. Tom trailed along behind us, my suitcase in his hand. When we got to the guys' floor, there was a security guard posted. I was a little surprised, since there hadn't been any security around during my earlier visits. I gathered some fans must finally have found a way upstairs. Kevin was in my arms the moment the door closed behind us. His kiss was passionate, but lacked the usual urgency I associated with one of our reunion kisses. That, more than anything, betrayed how tired my boy was. I separated from him, leaning back to work his shirt from him. He stood there, allowing me to undress him. I made short work of his remaining clothes before pushing him down on the bed. "Kev, you look exhausted, love," I whispered, stroking the side of his face a moment. "You shouldn't push yourself so hard." He sighed, leaning his face into my hand. "I haven't been pushin' things all that much, sweetie," he spoke softly, his accent more pronounced. "I just haven't slept as well without you here. The bed seems so...lonely without you." The empty tone in his words nearly had me in tears. "Well," I spoke, a slight catch in my throat, "I'm here now, love. And I'll be here for a while. So, let's get you to sleep." I stepped back from him, stripping my clothes from my body. His eyes never left me, and I could tell he wanted to be doing this for me. When I was ready, I moved over and took his hand, lifting him to a standing position. I rolled back the covers, then nudged him to crawl in. He did, immediately sliding over to the middle of the bed to allow me in beside him. Once I was in, I pulled the blanket back over the two of us. Kevin rolled back towards me, resting his head on my chest. I could tell by his breathing that he was already on his way to sleep. I carefully slid my arm behind his back, squeezing him tighter to me. "I love you, D," he whispered, his breath a tickle across my chest. "I'm glad you're home with me, again." "So'm I, Kev," I replied, just as softly. "And I love you, too." His only acknowledgement of my words was a light squeeze before he was totally gone. Kevin was awake by the time I woke up the next morning. I felt him watching me before I even opened my eyes. When I did crack my lids open, my eyes met the beauty of his as he leaned over me. "Mornin', D," he said to me in that soft, sexy, just-woke-up voice of his. I stretched next to him, feeling joints pop and muscles pull. "Mornin', Kevy," I replied. I reached a hand behind his neck and pulled him down for a long good morning kiss. Neither of us was minty fresh, but I really didn't care. Apparently, it didn't bother him, either. "What time is it?" I asked when we'd separated. "Around 6:30," he replied, lightly kissing my lips again. "And when do you have to be at the studio?" I wondered, a gleam in my eye that he immediately noticed. "In about an hour," he said, his voice taking on a lusty tone. "Hmmmm...do we have enough time for a...shower?" I asked, my voice matching his for need. "We'll make time," was all he said before shifting over and climbing from the bed. When he turned to me, it was obvious he was pretty excited. His hard shaft greeted me as he reached down to take my hand. I couldn't help but give him a dose over it. "Gee, Kevy, happy to see me?" I asked as I slid my body up along his. "Of course, sweetie," he replied, pulling me tightly against him, grinding our crotches together. "I'm always happy to see you." I just chuckled and shook my head as I turned to lead us to the bathroom. Kevin followed very close behind me, allowing me to feel his excitement as we walked. We made love in the shower. I had no idea how long we were in there, but I know it was long enough to make him late. I figured that the studio folks would understand. Frankly, they'd have to, cause I wasn't about to interrupt what he was doing to my body, to my soul, in order to send him off to work. When he climaxed inside me, I nearly blacked out. As many times as we'd done it over the last week or so, having sex with Kevin without a condom was still the most incredible of experiences. The depth of trust that it showed between us staggered my mind. To be continued...
