That means anything I write here is from my head. This is not reality. I don't know the Backstreet Boys, David Boreanaz, or any other celebrity mentioned here. It's all made up! Also, this story contains themes aimed at a mature audience only. It contains (or rather it will) a relationship between two males. If you don't like homosexual themes, then leave. Why are you even at this website? If you aren't at least 18 years old then you shouldn't read this. If you do read this, then don't get caught. ***************************************************************** *** 'I still love you' This is the continuation to the series Kevin and Dustin. This story involves a romance between the celebrity Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys and the fictional character of Dustin Richards. Now I present to you the continuation of the journey of Kevin and Dustin, You're Still My Boy *** You're Still My Boy -- Chapter 2 By: NM "Hey Josh." I couldn't believe it. It was that voice. His voice. A voice that I hadn't heard in such a long time. I still couldn't believe it was him. What was he doing calling me? What does all of this mean? "Hey," I replied softly. "Is that all I get? Just `hey,'" He asked. "I'm sorry," I apologized sincerely. "How are you doing?" "I'm doing ok. We're in town for some promotional stuff, thought I might give you a call," He explained. "How long are you guys in town for?" I asked him. "Next few weeks, we're back in the studio," He explained. "Working on a new album?" I asked. "Yup." "So, how are all the guys doing?" I asked wondering about the others. It'd been awhile since I'd spoken with Nick or Howie. I kept in touch the most with Alex. I hadn't spoken to Brian or Kevin much either. The last time Kevin and I talked was about six months ago. He just called me out of the blue. We ended up talking for several hours. It was nice catching up with him, and he did say he felt the same. There was, of course, some awkwardness when we ran out of things to say and silence was all that could fill the line. Brian, though, it was completely different between the two of us. He and I hadn't spoken in almost two years...until now, that is. "So, what made you call me Bri?" I finally asked him. "To say hello, see how you were doing," Brian explained. "And to see if you'd like to get together sometime and hang out," He added. "I don't know, I'm pretty busy," I tried to come up with a better excuse. "Doing what?" Brian asked. "I'm doing an internship over the summer," I told him. It was just like Brian to get so nosy so quickly. Still, it did bring a smile to my face knowing that even after so long he hadn't changed. "How is med school going?" Brian asked. I figured Alex was keeping the guys updated on what I was up to in my life. "It's good," I replied. "I really enjoy working with the people at the hospital. They're all really good people." "What department do you work in?" He asked. "The ER," I replied. "Wow, so I bet you see a lot of blood and stuff, huh?" Brian asked. I could hear him shuddering over the phone line. Brian was a little squeamish when it came to blood. "Even more than my fair share sometimes," I admitted. "Listen, I there's an outdoor café down the block from the hospital. Why don't we meet there for lunch tomorrow," I suggested. "Ok, that sounds good," Brian agreed. "I'll see you tomorrow," he cheered. "Tomorrow then," I confirmed. "Good night, Brian," I said before hanging the phone up. "So, meeting someone for lunch tomorrow?" Jason inquired sticking his head in the room. "Were you eavesdropping?" I asked in a fake tone of anger. Jason held his hands up in the air. "Guilty as charged," He joked. "So," He began as he took a seat next to me on the couch. "Who is this guy?" he asked. "Is he cute? Does he have a good job? Do I know him?" Jason began firing away with the questions. "Whoa, slow down there," I laughed. "Its Brian," I gave Jason his name. "Brian...Brian...you mean, the Brian?" Jason asked for clarification. "Brian Littrell from the Backstreet Boys?" He questioned. "The one and only," I replied. "Why are you going to have lunch with him?" Jason asked. "Don't give me the third degree, Jason. Please," I requested. "I'm sorry," he apologized. "I just don't want anything bad to happen or for you to get hurt," he explained. "Besides, what is Kevin going to say when Brian tells him?" "Its just a lunch as friends, nothing more," I swiftly replied. "Ok, sorry for upsetting you," Jason apologized. "No, I'm sorry for getting so worked up," I said. "I guess part of me does want to see him again," I admitted. "I want to see all of them again. I miss all of them," I explained. "They were...they are all very important people in my life and I've missed not getting to see them." "You don't have to explain yourself to me, Dustin," Jason said. "I just remember you telling me everything and I don't want you to have to make the same hard choices you did six years ago when you left," He added. Jason leaned over and pulled me into a soothing hug and pulled me down with him onto the couch. He gave me a comforting kiss and wrapped his arm around me. "So, do I get to meet him?" He giggled. "Yeah, you can," I sighed. "Thanks for everything, Jase," I whispered. "Hey," he spoke as he got up, "that's what friends are for." *** "WATCH OUT!" Dr. Brooks yelled out as I backed out of the way. `Oh, good...another fun-filled trauma day in the ER,' I said to myself. I went into the lounge and put my bag in my locker and grabbed my lab coat and stethoscope. I left and went back into the department and to the admit area. I examined the board. "Hey Rach, who's the attending today?" I asked. "Dr. Brooks," She hastily replied. I was examining the board when the phone started ringing. "Cindy, will you answer that?" I asked after the fourth ring. I turned around and she wasn't there. I strolled over and picked up the phone. "ER," I answered. "Get me Dr. Lori Snider," the caller said. "I'm sorry, she's with a patient right now, may I take a message?" I asked politely. "Who the hell is this?" the man on the line asked. "Dustin Richards, may I help you?" I introduced myself as nicely as possible. "Are you a med student?" The man asked arrogantly. "Yes, I am," I replied. "And you would be?" "The Chief of Staff of the hospital your in. Now get me Dr. Snider," He yelled. "Hold please," I slammed the phone down punching the hold button. I went to Exam 3 to find Dr. Snider. "...so you may experience some tenderness for a few days, all right?" Dr. Snider explained to the patient. "Excuse me, Dr. Snider?" I interrupted. "Yes, Dustin, what is it?" "You've got a phone call on line 2," I replied. "Take a message," she replied. "Its Dr. Taylor," I said. "He said it was urgent." "Would you excuse me, for a moment," She said to the young woman she was treating. "Thanks Dustin. Why don't you take the man in curtain area one," She said. "Jill, should have his chart." "Ok," I replied. I back to the admit desk. "Has anyone seen a chart for the man in curtain area one?" I asked. "And just who the hell are you?" I turned around to see a very tall, intimidating man dressing me down. "My name is Dustin Richards. I'm a med student." "Fine, whatever. Come with me," the doctor ordered. "But, I have a patient," I tried to explain. "Come on Mr. Richards, I don't have all day," He was already walking down the hall away from where I was supposed to be heading. *** "Have seen Dustin?" Doug Brooks asked the temp receptionist, Dana. "Who?" She inquired. "Dustin Richards. Med student," he gave a vague description. "Oh, yeah, he called not too long ago. He's with Dr. Taylor," she replied. "Get Taylor on the phone, now," Dr. Brooks ordered. Dana picked up the phone and paged the chief of staff. Moments later the phone rang. "ER," She greeted. "Yes, sir, I realize I paged you. It's Dr. Brooks he wants to speak with you," she explained. "Yes sir, I'll put you right through." "Dr. Brooks," Dana yelled out over the loud ER. "Dr. Taylor on line two," she informed him. "Thanks, I've got it in here," He replied picking up the phone. "So, Dr. Brooks, to what do I owe you the pleasure of interrupting me?" "Well, you can start by returning our med student and explaining why you took him," Doug stated boldly. "Calm down, Doug. I was only borrowing him. He'll be back down in the ER shortly," Dr. Taylor said before promptly hanging up the phone so Dr. Brooks couldn't get another word in. "Doug, any luck finding Dustin?" Lori asked as she placed a chart in the discharged rack. "Yeah, Taylor had him. He said Dustin should be back down in a bit." *** "Mr. Stewart, I'm Dustin Richards, and I'm very sorry for keeping you waiting," I apologized as I entered my patients room. "Oh, that's ok. I was just doing some reading while I wait," He replied kindly as he put his book down. "Ok, so what seems to be the problem?" I asked taking a seat on the stool by his bed. "I've had a fever for a few days now and my back has been hurting," Mr. Stewart explained. "Rachel what are his stats?" I asked. "Temp 101.3, pulse 88, BP 122 over 88," She read to me. "Let's give him some Tylenol for the fever," I told Rachel. "Mr. Stewart have you been vomiting or had any diarrhea or nausea?" I asked. "No, nothing like that," he replied. "Are you currently on any medications?" I asked. "I'm on Synthroid for my Thyroid," He said. I pulled a pair of gloves out of my pocket and put them one. "Would you mind taking off your shirt," I asked. Mr. Stewart lifted his arms over head and removed his shirt and shivered. "Don't know why hospitals are always so cold," he chuckled. I breathed onto my stethoscope and make it warmer before placing it onto his chest to listen to his heart. I moved it around and placed it on his back. "Mr. Stewart will you take a deep breath and hold it?" He sucked in his air and held it. "Exhale slowly," I requested. I finished listening to his lungs. "Ok, that sounds good. Would you lie down now please? I'm going to examine your stomach," I told him. I pressed into his stomach on his right side and it was fine. As I pressed in the left he winced. "Does that hurt, Mr. Stewart?" "Ok, he's got some mid-abdominal and left upper quadrant tenderness," I told Rachel. "Ok, Mr. Stewart, you can put your shirt back on," I said as I stood and removed my gloves. "Rachel, I want you to get a CBC, White count, Crit, Liver function, UA, and stool tests," I replied. "Ok, Mr. Stewart, Rachel is going to draw some blood and have some tests run. While that's happening I'd like you to give us a stool and urine sample. Do you have any questions?" I asked after explaining the tests. "Nope, but if I do, I'll ask ya," he gave a warm smile. "I'll be back to check on you later Mr. Stewart," said before leaving the room and heading back to the desk. "Hey Dr. Snider," I asked waiting for her to look up from her chart. "Yes, Dustin, what can I do for you?" "I've got some tests ordered for Mr. Stewart, my patient in curtain area one, and I wanted to know if I could grab some lunch while waiting on the labs?" "Sure, I'll have you paged when the labs get back," She smiled. "Thank you Dr. Snider," I replied. I strolled outside the ambulance bay doors and walked down the block to the café where I was supposed to meet Brian. I got us a small table and ordered some water as I waited for him to arrive. "Is this seat taken?" a familiar voice said from behind me. I stood and turned around. "Brian," I said, "it's good to see you again," I added. "Well, don't just stand around, give me a hug," he laughed wrapping his arms around me. I hugged him back and then broke it quicker than he would have liked. "Have a seat," I motioned for him to join me. I sat down next to him. "How've you been?" "I've been good. It's nice to be with all the guys again recording," he smiled. "What about you? How is med school?" "It's tough, but I'm really enjoying it," I replied with a smile. "By the way, you look good in the scrubs," Brian beamed. "Thanks, this is one of my better looking days. I'm not covered in anyone else's bodily fluids...yet," I joked. The waitress returned and we placed our order and Brian got his drink. "So what all do you do in the hospital?" "Well, I work in ER...there's really no way to put it to justice sometimes," I said with a laugh. Our food soon arrived and our conversations almost ceased as we ate in the noisy café. "So, Brian, why did you call me last night?" I asked him. "You know why," he replied. "I hadn't seen or spoken with you and I wanted to know how you were doing," he replied. "Well...I guess...what I mean is," I was having trouble getting everything out. I didn't want to offend him, but I was afraid that no matter how hard I tried not to, I would. "I guess I wanted to know if there was any other reason as to why you called me?" "You mean, if I was hoping we might get together?" Brian questioned me specifically as to what I meant. "Yeah," I heartily agreed. Brian took a drink of his soda before continuing. "Well, I have to admit that seeing you again brings back a lot of old feelings," he confessed. "But I'm not going to act like before," he whispered. "I won't try and force you to make any decisions, and I'll respect the ones you make," he stated honestly. "Brian," I faintly whispered. "We haven't talked in over two years, and it's been six since I've seen you," Brian stated. Yes, it had been a long time. Too long in fact for two friends to not see or speak to each other. And despite our history, and what went down between Kevin, he, and I, I still consider him a true and dear friend. "And I don't want us to be strangers anymore. I want us to be friends," Brian said grabbing my hand. Make no mistake, about his actions and intentions. He was simply taking my hand in friendship...and nothing more. "I want us to be friends too," I smiled to him. But before he could say anything my pager was going off. "I grabbed my pager from my lab coat and checked the number. It read 911. "Bri, I'm sorry I gotta go, it's the hospital," I explained leaving some money on the table and grabbing my lab coat. "Can I walk over with you?" Brian asked standing and leaving with me. "It probably won't be a good idea, I've gotta go quick," I replied starting to sprint back to the hospital. "I'll call you later," He yelled out to me. I turned back and nodded my head to him and continued back to the hospital. *** "What's up, I got paged," I said as I came up to Rachel. "Labs are back on Mr. Stewart," She said handing me his chart. "His stool had normal results for any traces of occult blood, and the liver function and UA were both normal," Rachel said. "What was the crit and white count?" I asked as we headed into his room. "Crit was 38 and white count was 12,500," she said. "Ok, Mr. Stewart," I greeted him. "We got the results done on your labs and we didn't find anything wrong," I explained to him. "That's a relief," He breathed out. "Well, I want you to sit tight for a bit, ok. I'll be back later." Rachel followed me out back to the admit area. "Dustin, what's wrong?" "It's not tracking. His symptoms are there but there's no trace of an illness from our labs," I sighed. "Dustin, everything all right?" Dr. Brooks asked as he approached. "Rachel, I need you in Exam 3," Dr. Snider said. Rachel walked off leaving me alone with Dr. Brooks. "Dr. Brooks, stuff just isn't tracking with my patient," I explained. "Ok, tell me what you've got," he offered. "56-year old male complaining of fever and pain in his mid-back. No nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. He's on Synthroid. Stats are normal and blood, urine, and stool samples didn't reveal anything. He's got some mild mid-abdominal and upper left tenderness," I gave a brief overview of the case. He thought for a moment. "Sounds like diverticulitis," Dr. Brooks stated. "I thought that at first too, but diverticulitis isn't usually found in the mid-abdomen and upper left quadrant," I countered. "Good point. What else should be present when making a diagnosis of diverticulitis?" Dr. Brooks asked me. "First, we have to find diverticula. Then to support that diagnosis, there must be evidence of extramural air or fluid collection, air in the bowels, lesions, or an obstruction," I answered. "Well, you certainly know your stuff, Dustin," Dr. Brooks said. "I suggest doing a colonoscopy and CT scan of his abdomen," he recommended. "And what do I do if those both come up clear?" I asked. "You can cross that bridge when and if it arrives," he advised. "Ok, thanks Dr. Brooks," I smiled. "Don't ever be afraid to ask for help or advice. This is a teaching hospital and you're here to learn," He said. "I'll definitely remember that," I replied. *** An hour later Mr. Stewart's test were completed. I was working on another patient while waiting for his test results to come back. "What seems to be the problem Jerry?" I asked my new patient. "It burns when I piss, and I've got these lesions on my dick," he put it bluntly. "Well, that doesn't sound too good," I replied. "So, what do you think it could be?" "One thing at a time, Jerry. First I need to get a quick history, all right?" "Go for it, man," he agreed. "When was the last time you had sex?" "A week or two ago, I think," he replied. "How many partners have you had recently?" "Just my girlfriend," he replied harshly. "Have you both been tested for STDs?" "What do STDs have to do with this? It burns when I piss," he started to get agitated. "You also told me there were some lesions on your penis," I added. "Yeah, so," he rebuffed. "Look, I'm just trying to help. If you don't want it, then I can go help someone else," I said starting to get up. "All right, all right," he conceded. "Sorry, dude. I just get worked up sometimes," he apologized. "It's all right...don't worry about it," I replied. "Now, do you practice safe sex?" "I did, but not so much anymore," he said. "How long have you been with your girlfriend?" I asked him. "A year and a half. We're actually engaged," he explained. "Getting married in three months," he smiled. I pulled out a pair of latex gloves and slapped them on. I stood and went to the window and shut the blinds. "Would you mind taking off your pants please? He did and I began the exam. After a few minutes I was complete with my examination. "All right, you can put your pants back on," I told him. I pulled off the gloves and threw them away. I opened the door of his exam room. "Hey, Jill?" I called over for her. "Yeah Dustin?" she asked approaching me. I told her to draw blood and ordered the necessary tests to detect for traces of syphilis. "Ok, Jerry, the nurse is going to draw some blood," I explained. "We're going to run some tests and then I'll be back to speak with you about the results," I added. I left the room and went back to the admit counter. "Cindy, is my CT back on Mr. Stewart?" I asked. "Imaging's backed up, it'll be a while," She replied. "Great," I sighed. "Dustin, how are things going?" Dr. Snider asked coming up to me. "Good, I'm waiting on the results of a CT for Mr. Stewart, and Jill drawing some blood on my other patient, Mr. Hill," I said. "I've got a patient in curtain area 1 that needs suturing, could you do it?" She requested. "Sure, no problem," I replied. "Thanks, and if anybody needs me, I'm in a meeting with Dr. Taylor," She huffed. "Cindy, come get me when Mr. Stewart's CT comes back," I told her. She nodded and I was off to suture a patient. *** "As you can see there is a large amount of mucosal irregularity in the splenic flexure," the endoscopist explained. "So, I had a biopsy performed. I told the lab to send the results on down to you," he said. "Thank you for your help," I replied. The endoscopist left, and I returned to my paperwork at the admit desk. After half an hour, the results arrived. "Oh, damn," I muttered to myself as I read over the results of the biopsy performed on Mr. Stewart. "Is something wrong?" Dr. Brooks asked. "My patient has cancer," I said sadly. "Do you want me to tell him?" Dr. Brooks offered to take this uneasy responsibility. "No, its ok," I replied. "I can do it." "If you need me, get me," he said before giving my shoulder a squeeze before returning to his patients. *** "Guys, I'm home," I yelled out into the empty apartment. The rest of my day at the hospital wasn't as bad. After delivering the news to Mr. Stewart, I spent the rest of the day working triage. Jason left a note that the others had gone out and he went out on a date. I piddled around for a bit before leaving the apartment again. I hailed a cab and gave the address for my destination. Once I arrived I paid and tipped the driver and walked up to the gate. I input the code and walked up to the door. There weren't any lights on in the house, so I thought he was gone, but I decided to ring the bell anyway. I waited a bit, but nothing happened. I was walking away when I heard the door open. "Dustin?" I heard a voice ask. I turned around to see Marc standing in the doorway. He was dressed in a pair of jeans. His shirt was completely unbuttoned revealing his smooth and developed chest. "Marc, hi," I greeted him pleasantly. "Is David around?" "Dustin, we're kinda busy right now if you cou..." "Marc, who's at the door?" David asked opening the door completely. "Dustin, hey," David smiled when he saw me. "What's going on?" "I'm real sorry for interrupting. I'll come back later," I said turning and heading back toward the street. I felt David's hand reach out and grab my shoulder. He stopped me and turned me to face him. "Dustin, what's happened?" David asked, deep concern laced throughout his voice. "So much," I replied softly. David ushered me inside, much to the nonverbal protest of Marc. "Dustin, could you excuse us for a moment," Marc said pulling David down the hall while I entered the living room. I heard Marc raise his voice as he and David argued about my coming over and interrupting them. Marc felt David was being a little too comforting to me at times and felt I needed to find someone else to talk all my problems too. David of course, defended me, only upsetting Marc more. He stormed out of David's house, driving off in anger. "I'm sorry you had to hear all that," David apologized sitting down next to me on the couch. "I'm sorry, this is all my fault. I should have called before coming over," I said taking the blame. "Don't worry about it. He just needs some time to cool off," David quickly dismissed Marc's actions. "So anyway," David said stretching, "what did you need to talk about?" "I had kinda a bad day at the hospital, the guys are in town, Brian took me out to lunch, and he still likes me," I summarized the key events. "What happened with Brian?" David asked. "He said that he is happy he was able to see me. Hopes to see more of me while he's in town. And that he isn't gonna pressure me into anything like before," I explained. "Well that's all good," David agreed. "Have you spoken to Kevin?" "No, I'm kinda scared to," I admitted. "We haven't spoken for awhile and I'm worried he might get mad since I saw Brian, fist." "He might, but I don't think he will," David stated. "I hope so," I sighed. David scooted closer to me on the couch and gave me a warm hug. He leaned in, touching his forehead against mine. "Don't worry about it," he whispered. "It'll all work out the way it's supposed to," He added. David's lips again reached out and gently touched mine. This time it went further, though. His tongue parted my lips and slipped into my mouth. He let out a deep moan as the kiss deepened. David pushed me onto my back and laid me down on the couch as he moved on top of me. His hands were running over my chest as the kiss gained intensity. My hands remained fixed at his waist, afraid to move. I could feel David responding to the kiss, which triggered a response from me as well. I tilted my head back to allow his tongue to go deeper in my mouth. His lips were ravishing my own. He used his tongue and licked down my lips and began planting small kisses on my neck before he found a satisfying spot and began to suck heavily. *** To Be Continued...
