The NSYNC guys were on a vacation in North-Central PA, on a trip that was suggested by their manager Johnny, and friends to be a relaxing and quiet retreat from their busy schedule. The mountains and rivers of North-Central PA were quite a change from the constant press and noise of girls screaming their names and constantly asking for autographs and the usually stupid questions such as if they would marry them and whether they wore briefs or boxers. The members were simply pushing themselves to hard and were just steps away from burning out. Lance was certainly glad for the break, he was feeling a lot of stress lately due to his management company, insane fans, dancing, and scary feelings he started to notice more and more. Lance started to notice he was getting feelings of attraction to some of his band mates and some other guys who caught his eye for some reason or another. It all started one day when he saw Josh and Justin changing their shirts in between songs at a concert. Lance felt an odd tingling feeling in his stomach when he notices the sweat glazed abs of Josh and Justin. His Baptist and Southern Mississippi background was causing Lance a lot of stress, hell what would his mom and dad think when their little boy turned out to like boys as much as girls and may not provide them with grandchildren. Lance always cared deeply for what it mom thought and respected their loving relationship; he would be crushed if she rejected him as her son. Josh and Justin were busy unloading the rented van of there bags into the cozy log cabin located in secluded woods in upstate PA. This little cabin was owned by a teacher's wife's family of a local four year technical college and was provided for their stay because of the relation of the wife's family and their production company. The one fine point they were not informed about was that this log cabin was kept very rustic, no electricity and no indoor plumbing other than a hand pump. Natural gas supplied light through old-fashioned gas lamps. There was a stove and oven and a charcoal smoker and an old fashion natural gas refrigerator. There was a hand pump in the kitchen and a two seat out house located not to far off from the cabin. Chris and Joey were busy rough housing with each other and ended up rolling down the one hill. Lucky for them they heard a rock fall into the icy cold waters of Trout Run. They would be quite puzzled when they realized that this mountainous stream was there only source of bathing. One could only imagine the reaction of the manicured members of the band such as JC and his cat-like lazy look with his mussed hair in the mornings and Justin and his famous fro that caused the great amount of time he spent getting ready. Chris and Joey were awaked from their fun loving tumble in woods by a streak from Josh and Justin that came from the log cabin. The two celebrities had just figured out that there accommodations lacked a modern bathroom, no modern toilet, sink, or worse yet no shower or bathtub. Later they would discover an ingenious cast iron bath that had a hollowed under carriage so that a fire could be lit to keep the bath water heated much like the Roman and Turkish baths of days old. This little bath was located in a little off building that was enclosed to give the bather some privacy and to protect it from the elements and wanting bears and other wild life. Chris was going to find out that the local raccoons would give him a run for his money for getting annoying and practical jokers, much like the ones in the movie, "The Great Outdoors," staring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd. The closest small town was about 15-20 minutes away depending on the dirt road conditions. The town wasn't far but the steep and narrow roads caused many to drive slowly. This small town had a general store that had food and an added section for tackle equipment due to the excellent fishing waters of the mountain streams and the Susquehanna River. The other big outdoor past time in the North-Central PA mountains was hunting, something that the guys had not to much experience with because of their careers, however Lance's father, Jim enjoyed hunting and Justin's biological father Randy enjoyed hunting, but rarely got to do it anymore because of his remarriage and relocation to Hawaii. Imagine the guys surprise when they were told they are located in the heart of bear and mountain loin country of PA. The most dangerous wildlife they ever were exposed to were alligators living in the lakes of Orlando FL golf courses. Of course Lance had some more experience than the others being from Mississippi which has many dangerous animal like the aggressive water moccasin a poisonous snake that often would chase humans if it felt threatened. (I have provided some links for any reader's who venture into the outdoors be smart and stay safe.) http://www.scoutingmagazine.org/issues/0401/a-claw.html http://www.greencracker.com/archives/2004/08/dangerous_wildl.html Chris and Joey were elected to run out and pickup groceries for their little relaxing vacation. Why, because Joey was the Italian, cooking was in his genes plus he was an eating machine. Chris, well he was the insane one of the group who had a munchies fetish, worse than a stoned Grateful Dead fan. So Chris and Joey went off in the van to get supplies: while James, Josh, and Justin looked around the surrounding area of the 1800's cabin. James being a Southern/bred boy decided that he would chop some firewood since he got cold at night, his friends considered him cold-blooded from growing up in the heat and humidity of Laurel Mississippi. James was starting to sweat for the labor activity of chopping wood, but it made him feel good, plus it was a great way to build up his arms. Josh decided to pick up one of his old hobbies of art. He liked to sketch and he felt he needed to save the beauty of this place so he could more easily remember it during their non-stop touring. Justin being Justin was curious and bored which was a lethal combination. At least Justin told James where he was off to, especially since when told Josh, Josh just nodded but was far to consumed by his drawing to register the message. Justin decided to go for a little walk down to the trout mountain stream that ran close to the property. He figured he just had to be careful because of the very steep cliffs near the stream in certain parts. The stream was windy and was slow in some spots and had mini waterfalls, what truly peaked Justin's attention was he saw some trot jumping in the water. It had been ages since he had been fishing. He would definitely be looking through the cabin for some fishing equipment later. Justin had a nice picture of all the guys happy playing in the brisk water on a hot day; this thought brought a smile to his lips. Justin decided to head back to the cabin; his stomach growled attesting to his hunger. Justin smiled as passed by James he was breathing rather heavy and was really flush from the intense workout he just did of chopping wood. Justin and the guys were starting be a little concerned of James of late; he seemed to be uncomfortable around the others and kept very quiet as of late. James just grunted his notification of Justin's presence and went to go wash up. Justin was a little down, him and Lance used be really good friends since they hung out when they were too young to go clubbing with the other guys in the band. It also didn't help that both their mothers were on tour with them. They both liked their mothers but they disliked how much both of their mothers constantly worried about them. They had to admit they were both mamas' boys. Lance went in the cabin to go get cleaned up. He smiled when he saw JC busy shading a picture of the cabin; he thought of cute the older member looked when he was biting his bottom lip while concentrating. James caught himself thinking dirty thought about JC and rushed into the small kitchen. Josh looked up when he heard someone rush past him but only caught a quick glance of Lance's back. JC and become a little worried about Lance's recent mood changes lately, he seemed to be more quiet and with drawn as of late. Josh decided to have a chat with some of the others to plan a way to change Lance's recent mood changes. Josh followed Lance into the cabin to get some colored pencils out of his bag. Josh smiled at Justin's bright blue eyes when he saw him enter the cabin; he noticed they had a practical shine to them. Justin told Josh about the great mountain stream located really close to the cabin and how fish were jumping and how much fun it would be swimming in it. Josh smiled and asked Justin to slow down since the younger man had said all of this rather quick and jumbled together, however Josh had enjoyed seeing Justin's excitement. Sure Justin, we all will get a chance to go fishing and swimming, but I am not putting any worm on a hook or taking any slimly fish off a hook. Justin just smiled and messed up Josh's hair, Josh turned just up his nose and making a funny disgusted face. Sure Josh I handle all the gross stuff like putting on wiggly bait and taking off the slimy wiggle fish. Or it could be maggots or bloody chicken livers, or leeches we use at bait. Justin laughed as he saw Josh pale before him, at least until Lance smacked him upside the head and told him to stop picking on Josh. It was good to see Lance acting more like his usual self, but the smack caused Justin to pout and chase after Lance. Lance laughed a deep rumble sound and just laughed chasing him. All would have been grand except for Lance didn't notice the area rug and he slipped and lost his footing sending him into a backwards flip. Both Justin and Josh gasped when they heard the very loud thud Lance's body made when it contacted the oak floor. What was worse was the quiet that that was in the room, no moaning or anything which was not a good sign. Both Justin and JC rushed to Lance's body lying still on the floor, luckily he was breathing and there was no blood he was just knocked out. Josh shouted for Justin to go get some water to help wake Lance up after a slap on the face didn't bring him around. Justin was shaken because he blamed himself for the accident that caused Lance's fall. Justin, Stop, it was an accident. But Josh, he isn't moving, says Justin. Josh notices tears in Justin's eyes. Hey just call Chris and Joey and tell them to bring back the van. Then we have to find a hospital. During this commotion they heard a moan escape from Lance's lips Josh could hear Justin's panicky voice on the phone with Joey and Chris. Chris you and Joey need to get the hell back here. No I don't care if you didn't find any Applejacks! Wow Justin, this must be serious. Lance and I were running around, he slipped on a rug, did a flip and knocked himself out, Just blurted out with much speed. I am scared Chris. He hasn't moved but he just made a moaning sound. OK don't worry Justin we are on are way. Ok (Justin, little quiet voice). Perk up Justin well will be there soon. Josh dumped a large glass of water on Lance. Umm, cough, Owl, what happened says Lance with his eyes still closed. You slipped on a rug, did a back flip and smacked your head. I have such a killer migraine, cried James. James let me get you some pain pills said Josh. Now he new he was in bad shape since James was used either by his family when he was in trouble or by friends when they were worried about him. Lance squinted at Justin; he noticed some tears in the younger man's blue eyes. Justin you know what you can do for me. What squeaked Justin? Could you come here and give me a hug, I don't want to move too much. Lance knew that he would be comforting Justin more than himself, but it was important for him that his friends weren't sad. When Justin bent down to hug Lance he felt Lance rub circles on his back and whispered to him everything would be ok. This tenderness made Justin smile. Justin committed himself at that point to not rest until he figured out what was causing Jamie's depression as of late. Lance always spent a lot of time managing the group's time and had to deal with management and his management company, he had too much stress Justin decided for a sweet southern boy. Lance had extended himself so far one time he passed out after walking off stage when they worked for that prick Lou. When Josh came back with some Advil he smiled when he saw Lance rubbing Justin's back and telling him it would be ok and it wasn't his fault for his accident. Josh truly loved the way Lance looked after others feelings before his own. Josh however decided that he and Justin were going to find ways to cheer up Lance even if it took asking crazy Chris and the friendly bear Joey to help them out. Elsewhere we find a student from the before mentioned technical college packing up his bio-diesel pickup for a fun filled break of college jam packed with activities such as: hunting, fishing, and camping. Lets see: firearms check, ammo, check, food check, hunting and fishing license, check, tent check, Weber Smoken Joe check, charcoal check, CDs ranging from: rap, classical, heavy metal, pop, country, rock, alternative, comedy check. I think I got everything. Nope cloths I guess the animals and locals wouldn't want me running around buck naked. Sleeping bag and pillow check. Now I have to prepare the poor man's café-mocha, a standard cup of eight-O clock coffee and a packet of instant hot coco. This great drink is complemented by a Milky-Way candy bar. So with coffee in hand are narrator starts up the pickup for a relaxing fun filled weekend. Now let's see what shall I listen to? Ozzy, Ted Nugent, Slayer, Barry White, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Beethoven Kiss, Jeff Foxworthy, the Who, Bevis and Butthead, Cream, Outcast, Bach, Nsync, Scottish Celtic Bagpipes (If it's not Scottish it's crap), Mettica, Strapping Young Lads, Motor Head, WDVE comedy. I think a little Mettica S/M will get my motor running, For Whom the Bell Tolls, as the intro drum beat kicks in I start singing and placing in the da-da's. Ah and after this song I will listen to Spinal Tap's, Big Bottom for the killer bass guitars. Then maybe some Jackal, She Loves My Cock. I was having a good old time; I had purchased a flat type drum practice kit so maybe one day I could full fill one my dream of playing the drums in some kick ass band. I would sit around my dorm room and practice to some of my favorite groups and I would pick up the beat. I will not move on to reading music until I get a full drum kit and a place to practice with one. Back to the Nsync boys Joey and Chris pulled the van up to the cabin to find a crazed and sorry looking Justin, a dazed looking Lance, and a concerned Josh. So Lance let me examine your skull said Chris. As Chris lightly felt around Lance's skull he found a large bump that when touched caused Lance to wince and curse under his breath. I think we should get you checked out at a hospital Lance, said Chris you may have a concussion. Yeah, you may have brain damage like Chris said Joey. Shut up, Mr. "Italian Stallion," before I whoop your ass all over this county spoke Chris. I would like to see you try you little Leap-recon shouted back Joey in a playful short of way. How about if you two children would stop fighting long enough so that we may transport Lance to the hospital, (Josh). To this Chris being the loon he was, responded back with a shout claiming shotgun which didn't help the pain in Lance's head. As the semi merry band head out with Joey driving, Chris in the passengers seat, Lance laying in back being comforted by backrubs, kind words, and caressing from Josh and Justin. Lance in his mind thinks that minus the extreme head ache he could get use to this kind of treatment from two hot guys. Damn it, he did it again let his attraction to super hot twink's include Josh and Justin. Lance discovered that he was attracted to guys that had sexy six pack abs, toned little bodies the type of many soccer players or that of swim teams cute hair and eyes especial turned Lance on. If the guys found the PowerPoint presentation of: hot twinks, yaio, gay sex, and straight sex, and bisexual acts. They rest of the guys would have many questions for Lance. If he was asked Lance would specify eyes, abs, and ass to be import factors in his selection for a mate. Personality played a big role in Lance's selection also he liked to be surrounded by caring individuals who had a sense humor. Lance also liked a mate that was opened to discovering new and exciting games and techniques to tryout in the bedroom. He maybe a nice southern boy but, that doesn't mean he could not be kinky. As Lance day dreamed about his perfect mate on the way to the hospital another person was picturing the joy he would receive when he found his other half. Where I come from its corn bread and chicken, were I come from there is a lot of front porch sit-en, where I come from try to make a liven, and work-en hard to get to heaven where I come from. Ha, ha, ha, you can take the ghetto suburban redneck out of the suburbs but you can't take away his ghetto redneck tendencies. Next I might listen to do you think my tractors sexy, it really turns her on. (Note I do not own any of these songs and am to damn lazy to look up the titles and singers for a correct cite so all you English majors can just rim me.) On a side note to the tractor song I want to paint an old farm tractor with a girl naked except for a pair of cowboy boots and a cowboy hat spread eagle on the front with a corn cob about to be inserted into her cooter. Now that would make a tractor sexy. Me and my silly ideas, but silly ideas is what makes us who we are. The advisor of one of the clubs I belong to in college told me that a small group of guys would be staying in his in laws rustic cabin in the mountains and asked if I would check up on them since I would be fishing and hunting in that general area. Me being the kind and loyal person I am said it would be no problem. The carpentry teacher however failed to mention the identities of his famous guests. The wheels on the van go round and round, round and round, round and round, "shut up Chris," Joey stated. Try and find something more entering on the radio or in are CD collection. How about KISS Double Platinum, skip to track four for Lance "and they call me Dr. Love they call him Dr. Love", "very funny Chris." "Come on Lance we all know that bass porn voice god gave you is made for phone sex and making women wet", "hell it can even make me randy, Epée cried JC." Why JC I always wondered if you swung both ways, you always reminded me of a little sex kitten with all your feline stretching and constant napes that leave your hair all disheveled in a cute I just had lots of kinky sex sort of way. Oh track seven God of thunder great bass beat (Joey). KISS kicks ass, Detroit Rock City, yeah that was a great movie I still remember when the kid from Terminator was told to go shake his wee, wee (Chris). Yeah that was funny shit (Joey). Ok we are in the town of the closest hospital now all we have to do is follow the blue H signs. Ok right at the red light, down two blocks and left at the next red light and then we only have to find a place to park and remember guys to put on your disguises so we are not recognized. Hats and sunglasses all around for the entire goofy group, after entering the hospital Lance is thrown into a wheel chair and driven into a waiting area. After the extensive paper work and being surround by patients in much worse condition than oneself Lance was feeling much better about his lump on his head. Joey and Chris spent their time trying to flirt with as many nurses as possible and Justin was busy teasing Josh about needles. Josh almost passed out after a nurse offered to give him a flu shot. The reaction of Josh turning pale white was a reaction that amused the entire group. I wonder where these sissy (meaning technologically), spoiled city boys went off too. All well and good I might as well get some target practice in with my bow. I just picked up a lifetime warranted Parker Diamond Rapture with all the fun gadgets, I also found a great deal on a Dan Wesson model 744 44mag Norwich NY 10in barrel with a mount and rings it was a great compliment to my Dan Wesson 15-2 357mag pistol pack. Along with my bow, 357, and 44 magnums I had three rifles one in 308 setup for a sniper, a 204 Ruger number 1, and a CZ 375H&H for the big game. The 308 had an adjustable cheek piece and shoulder stock length. The number 1 falling block had a grey laminated stock and a stainless barrel toped with a long range Zeiss scope. The CZ 550 safari had a small Zeiss scope on it and express sights this firearm also had a laminated stock on it. On the back of my bio-diesel pickup was a trailer with a compact backhoe since the clubs advisor wanted the cabin's drive way resurfaced, that reason and the fact that driving a backhoe was fun. So I sighted in my bow along with my many firearms. I carry the 357mag openly on my hip for predator defense of the four and two legged variety. Its strange how much nicer people tend to be when they see a large revolver riding your hip. God made man but Sam Colt made them equal, I like Dan Wesson revolvers since the barrels can be interchanged and they have less moving parts than other comparative brands. So after I finish my target practice I decide to lay down for a nap in the cabin. If thoughts of Goldie locks, and someone's been sleeping in my bed, ideas pop into your mind you know where I a heading. To be Continued. I don't know who is, and to be honest, I don't much care. What I want is to read good fiction, and to get a leg-up on that, follow these few simple guidelines: Stories are meant to be easily read, and like it or not, using abbreviations such as "lyk" "m8" "ur" make things much harder to understand. If it's an instant message chat you're talking about, it may be acceptable, but it's preferable to suspend reality in favour of comprehension in this case. Always check your spelling and read through afterwards - what makes sense to spellcheck may not make sense in real life. As I said, stories should be easy to read, thus layout is important. A different person speaking deserves a new line, and a change in scene deserves not only a new paragraph, but a line break in between. This not only makes it easy to tell when one section ends and another begins, but makes it much more enticing to read. People tend to skip through large chunks of text, thus you need to break it up. Bitesize as it were. The final part of making a story easy to read is general punctuation and grammar. Capital letters to begin sentences, full stops to end. Commas for small pauses, semi-colons for longer ones. Try reading it aloud; it makes it easier to see where to put in punctuation. This also makes it easier to see where one sentence should be broken into two or three, or several joined together where things seem too jerky. There are three ways to write - 1st person (I...), 2nd person (You...) or 3rd person (He...). 1st and 3rd are the generally adopted forms, and each presents its own problems. In the 1st person, you, as the narrator, are a character in the story, usually the central one. You can only describe events that happen around you, which is a limitation, but in a way a blessing. You can be more intimate with the characters, have them tell of their most secret desires and fears, and it's also good for a quirky writing style - you can have your characters distracted and go off on a complete tangent. In the 3rd person, the narrator has no part in the story. They can watch anything, see everything. Generally, you would want to follow one character for a few paragraphs, then skip to a new one. You can talk about their thoughts, but it's less personal than in the 1st person. The problem comes with the distinction between subject and object when both are of the same gender. For instance "Danny looked at Dougie as he rubbed his hands over his chest" - you don't quite know whose chest you're talking about. Generally, you want to find ways to get around this, eg "over his bandmate's chest", "his young friend" "the blonde's"... Finally, the 2nd person. It's the most difficult to write, but can be the most effective. You're essentially controlling what the reader does, giving them an active role in the story. The narrator, however, can either be in the story or not, it makes no real odds. The problem is that you have to get more into the reader's mind, and you have to make it good enough to seem real. If you can't do that, then 2nd person won't work for you. Moving on to actual story content now, you need to think about details. The devil is in the detail, but no fic can live without it. You need to describe the environment the story takes place in, and more detail makes it seem real, plus it fleshes out the story a bit so people can't rush through it so quick. Consider the difference between "He looked up at the sky" and "He looked up at the sky, the few white clouds majestically sailing across an ocean of blue". The second one is... prettier, more attractive, and it makes you feel happy. The first just makes you think "so what?". Detail isn't just about adjectives and adverbs (he kicked the red ball hard), it's also about poetry of similes - likening something to a scene that may be completely unrelated (e.g. my description of clouds as ships on an ocean). Depending on the mood, the character might see something in different ways, to be rather cliché, he can see the cloud, or the silver lining. Or maybe he can see both. Another point with detail is to remember character-specific traits. For instance, how your different characters talk - are they confident, shy, arrogant? The descriptions they use will also be different - a keen footballer would likely use footballing analogies to many varied situations, say describing doing something wrong as an own goal. Remember their physical attributes - to a tall person, the doorway may seem low, while to others it may seem normal. On the other hand, someone as strange as Dougie Poynter might use extremely odd and inappropriate analogies, while Tom Fletcher would likely be more poetic. Finally, style. This is partly covered by which viewpoint you choose, but you do need to be consistent. If you watch TV, even if you mute a program, you can tell just from the way the camera moves whether it's a documentary, soap, drama, whatever. A documentary is likely to use one fairly stationary camera that captures the whole scene, a soap tends to switch between one or two stationary cameras, and a drama will tend to have the cameras moving. Writing goes the same way. You can usually tell just from a line or two whether it's a plain dirty story, a romance story, or a comedy. It's hard to describe really, but try to keep to one style for one story. This one is most important - never force yourself to write something. If you don't feel you want to write, don't. If you try, you'll only end up with a bad piece. Writing should be something you do for fun. Maybe you're telling a sad story, and that makes you sad, but you can still want to write it. At times like that, I feel I want to write simply for the characters the story contains - because you feel you owe them in some way. But writing for a deadline is never good as it puts pressure on you, and writing should be a release for emotion. Finally, I guess I should say good luck, and remember - have fun.
