When I opened the door, everything was quiet. It was like no one was in the room especially that the room was dark. I walked to the bedroom and opened the door slowly. I saw Brian on the bed sleeping. Alex was sitting on a chair with his earphones on. When I entered the room, Alex must have noticed me. "Hey." He called as he removed the earphones. "Everything okay?" I asked him. "Yeah. He told me everything that happened. I can't believe their record company would do such thing." Alex said shaking his head with sadness and probably anger as well. We all felt the same way. Anger and sadness. "You two eaten already?" I asked trying not to really talk about the Jive and Nick issue. I didn't want to deal with that at the moment. All I wanted to take care was Brian and Brian alone. "I called room service earlier. He only ate a little but it's better than nothing." Alex informed me. I just nodded and walked to Brian's side. He was sleeping peacefully and even snoring softly. "Can I go now?" He asked. "Yeah. Thanks, Alex. I don't know what I'll do without you here." I said to Alex as I walked to him and gave him a hug. "Everyone needs someone." He whispered to my ear. I just smiled at him and ruffled his hair. "I'm out of here." He called as he walked out of the room leaving me and Brian. I looked at him once again and sighed. "Everything will be alright." I said silently to no one. I myself wanted to believe that but I wasn't really keen to the idea myself. I stripped down to my boxers and went to the bathroom to wash up and prepare for bed. Once done, I walked to the bed and slowly laid myself on the bed so I wouldn't create any ruckus that could wake up Brian. He needed the rest. But he still woke up. "You've arrived." He said groggily. "Shh!" I said placing my finger by his lips. "Don't talk. Let's just sleep now. It has been a long day." I fixed myself and spooned closer to him. His touch has always been a very therapeutic feeling for me. When we were together, it was like I could do anything and conquer anything. He was my charm. "I love you." Brian said softly. "I love you too." I answered and tried to sleep. When I woke up the next day, Brian wasn't by my side. I rubbed the sleepiness in my eyes as I stood up. I walked to the bathroom to take a piss and tried to wake up my still sleeping brain coz everything was still hazy for me. Once I did my business, I walked to the lounge room and saw Brian watching TV. "Mornin'." He called with a smile. "Mornin'." I said as I walked to his direction and sat beside him placing my head on his chest. "You're early." I told him. "I couldn't sleep well. I have too much things going in my head." Brian replied. I just looked at the screen as MTV played. Jennifer Lopez's video was playing. "I just don't understand all that's happening right now." "Did you talk to the others?" I asked him. "Not yet. Maybe later." Brian answered. I looked at the watch and it read 8:00am. It was strange because I knew that Lance must have called us already for breakfast. "No breakfast call?" I inquired. "Lance called earlier but I told him that we're gonna have our breakfast in our room." Brian said as he looked me. I just nodded. "As a matter of fact, it's already there." Brian pointed at the door's direction and there was a cart. I didn't notice it earlier probably because of my grogginess. "Wanna eat now?" He asked me. I didn't need to answer because my stomach growled. "That's the answer." I laughed. Brian stood up causing me to fall on the couch. "Hey!" I called but Brian just laughed at me. He pushed the cart and placed it by the couch. He carried two plates and placed one on my lap and the other was probably his. "Let's eat." He said. I looked at my plate and as usual, it was filled up. I looked at his and it was similar to mine. We ate together as I shared to him my experience in the show. "Good morning. I'm John Norris bringing you the morning news." I heard John Norris of MTV say. "Rumors are flying that the youngest Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is working on a solo effort. People are speculating if this is the end of the Backstreet Boys, one of the biggest selling boy bands in the world. Their management and record company didn't comment on the issue." I filtered out the next part. I didn't know that news could spread that fast. I looked at Brian who looked so serious. "Bri?" I said. "Yeah?" He replied. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Not really." He looked at me and smiled weakly. He pulled the phone by the counter and dialed a few numbers. "Kevin. It's Brian." Brian said on the phone. I didn't want to eavesdrop so I just ate my breakfast and watched the television. As far as I was concerned, the issue was an internal problem of Backstreet Boys and I wasn't part of Backstreet Boys. I knew that it would affect me along the way since they were my friends and Brian was my boyfriend, but it wasn't my business. Maybe when Brian would approach me or something. But it's tough not to really think about their predicament. I didn't know where Nick was and what's going on in his head. I just hoped that everything would turn out right, eventually. "Mart!" Brian nudged me. It startled me a bit mainly because I was trying to filter out his conversation with Kevin. "You okay?" He asked me a little worried. "Yeah. I'm good." I answered with a smile. The phone was back on the counter so his talk must be finished already. "Better?" I asked. "Not really." Brian replied. "But we're gonna have a group meeting on how we're gonna solve this problem." Brian told me. "So that means you're gonna go?" I questioned. I didn't really like the idea Brian far away from me. We've been apart for a long time; it was like I didn't want to let go once more fearing that I would lose him once again. "It's gonna be just for a few days." Brian said holding my hands as he looked at me seriously. I just concentrated on his blue eyes shifting a few times -- a sign of worry and fear for Brian. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "When are you gonna leave?" I asked. "Later at 7pm. I know you can't come with me," Brian started. "Bri, I understand. This is an internal thing just for the Backstreet Boys." I interrupted him. "Just settle this." I told him smiling even if deep inside, I was worrying so much. Brian gave me a peck. "Let's eat." I told him trying to evade any talks that could lead to his departure and their problems. I just wanted to be Brian and myself for a while. It's a little selfish but I needed it. After breakfast, Brian and I took a bath and made love. I knew it would be the last for a few days. And hopefully, my job would occupy my mind for the next few days so I wouldn't be reminded that Brian wasn't near me. I helped him pack all of his things. Even if he's just gonna be away for a few days, it was our last day in this venue and we're gonna leave anyway. I cleared my things as well putting them in my room since Brian wouldn't be here. "You sure you wanna come with me to the stadium?" I asked for the third time. Brian just gave looked at me. "I'm just making sure coz I know you're gonna leave later and you must want to rest because you're gonna be tired once you get there -" I was silenced with Brian's lips on mine. "Let's just go." Brian just told me. I sighed and placed my head on his shoulder giving him an embrace. "Please take care, okay?" I whispered. "Sure." He told me giving me another kiss. We locked the room and walked to Alex's room. I knocked. After a few seconds, Alex was coming out of the room. "Ready to go?" He asked us. "Yeah. Come on." I affirmed. We rode the elevator to the lobby where one of the NSYNC bodyguards told us that there was a waiting SUV at the back. "I guess Lance did it." I said to no one in particular as we walked to the SUV. It brought us to the stadium and even with the New York traffic, we didn't really feel it coz the three of us were animatedly talking. We stepped out of the SUV once we reach the stadium and walked to the entrance. Since we had our IDs, we weren't really hassled by the security people scattered around the place. I looked at my watch and it was just 9:30am. My session with the band would start at 10:30am, so we three had a little fun for ourselves for a while. We played some songs and experimented with others that gave me new ideas that I could use for the tour. 10:30 came and the band members and Wade arrived. I asked Brian and Alex to move out of the stage so we could start working. Wade helped me with the laying down of the new arrangement for "It's Gonna Be Me," which I remixed and added a few more beats and making it quicker. "The guys are gonna kill you." Wade noted as he heard it. I knew that the choreography would be harder but it sounded better in my opinion. "They can handle this." I told him. By lunchtime, I gave them their break since they did the last take flawlessly anyway. "Can you handle the choreography?" I asked Wade. "Wanna help?" He asked me. "He's great in dancing! He is the one that choreographed My Type of Music." Brian interjected with a grin. "You?" Wade questioned surprised. "The guys are really gonna kill you." Wade chuckled. "Stop it! They won't." I said with a cheesy grin. I knew that they would probably hate me once they hear the new mix. Well, I just hoped that their anger would tone down before they hear the new mix for Up Against the Wall and The Two of Us. "Let's eat lunch." I told Wade. "Sure." Wade answered. Alex and Brian were already on the stage teasing me that the guys were surely gonna kill me once they hear it. "Oh come on! You old folks handled the new mixes in your songs. Surely, they can handle this too since they're younger." I shot back. Brian just smiled sheepishly. There was a table filled with all sorts of food -- it was lunch. The four of us chatted about very trivial stuff but I got to know Wade better since I didn't really know him that well. Wade was a really cool kid and very mature for his age. We were already finished with lunch when the NSYNC guys arrived. Josh was in better condition but I could still see the sadness in his eyes. Justin was always at Josh's side but I knew that he was worrying and hurting as well. He just had to present a strong facade for JC's sake. But I could also see something off with Justin. There's something in his eyes that just unsettled me. It could be my imagination. "Ready guys? We have lots of work to do." I asked them. "Yeah! Give me your best shot!" Chris answered smugly. I just smiled while Brian, Alex and Wade were giggling at the side. The guys were looking at them with confusion. "They don't know what they're getting into." Wade said shaking his head as we walked to the stage. "Band people! New mix of It's Gonna Be Me. NSYNC, same as yesterday. Let me do it first then I'll help you with it in the second run. Wade is gonna assist me in some very small changes." I instructed. The guys nodded while the band people were ready with their instruments. "On three. Three!" I shouted. The sound of each instruments meshed together as the band played the melody of a somewhat club version of It's Gonna Be Me while I sang the words. I was looking at the faces of the NSYNC people and their mouths were opened. When it was done, Brian and Alex cheered. "Um, we're also gonna work on the choreography for that." I said with a grin as I walked to them. "You must be kidding us!" Joey exclaimed. "I was just kidding with the best shot comment earlier." Chris pleaded. "Come on guys. You can handle this." I tried to console them. They just groaned. We practiced until 1:45 pm when they got it perfectly. "Do you want to deal with the remaining two mixes or do you wanna work with the choreography on this one now?" I asked them. "Two mixes!" They answered unanimously. "I haven't given this to the band but I have a version in my laptop. That okay?" I asked once again. "Yes!" They replied. "Fine." I grumbled as I booted up my laptop and attached it to one of the speakers that they had. "The remaining two are gonna be The Two of Us and Up Against the Wall. Wade is gonna work on this too." I said looking at Wade who nodded at me. I played The Two of Us first and I sang with it so they would know how it's gonna be sang. "We should have picked the choreography." Joey whined. "Come on, this is a cool song. Let's have some jest." I tried to encourage them. But they just glared at me. "What? JC wrote it." I said. "But it was much slower than that." Josh retorted. "Come on, Backstreet survived me. I know you can too." I told them. It was my last straw. "Fine." They grumbled. The changes weren't that big except the tempo of the song and some instrumentals but that's it so we got that quickly. "Aren't you proud of yourselves? We're on the last one!" I cheered but they just looked at me evilly. "Come on, I know that you enjoyed it." Justin was the only one who nodded. "Traitor." Joey mumbled to Justin. I wanted to laugh but the occasion didn't really need one. When I looked at Brian and Alex, they were stifling their giggles. I just shook my head and played Up Against the Wall. I added a more trance feel to it so it was a lot quicker. They all groaned when it finished playing. "This is gonna be sweet." Wade commented. "Shut up!" All of them said to Wade. "Let's see about that once I teach them the choreography." Wade grumbled as he walked away from the guys with a pout plastered on his face. It was a funny scene because they were really acting so childish. Even Brian and Alex were very amused. "That's the last one!" I cheered. "I don't expect y'all to get it. You're gonna prolly use this on the last weeks." I told them. "Yey." They answered lifelessly. I just rolled my eyes. We finished with our business and there was still time to spare. It was just 3:30pm. "Let's have a break first then we're gonna have our sound check by 4:30." I told them. The band people left the stage telling me that they loved the new mixes and it sounded hot. The guys just sat on the stage. "This is gonna be hell." Chris noted. "It's like Wade multiplied exponentially." "Hey!" Wade and I said at the same time that elicited a fit of laughter from all of us. "Let's have our break." Lance said once the laughter subsided. They joked around as we took small snacks and rested for a while. But Brian and I just dwelt on the moment that we were together. He was gonna go when our sound check starts later on. He had to go back to the hotel and then go to the airport afterwards. "You take care of yourself, okay?" I reminded him. "Of course." He replied with a smile. "And say 'hi' to the others. Tell them I miss them a lot coz they're a lot easier than these guys." I whispered to Brian so I wouldn't get any complains from the guys. Brian just giggled that made the others look at us. "Inside joke." I told them and they returned to what they were talking about. I looked at the guys and noticed how different Josh was acting. Justin was subtly glancing Josh, but it was like Josh was in a different plane. "Look at Josh." I whispered to Brian. He looked at Josh intently but not to the point that it was obvious. "He's pretty quiet." Brian noted. "The stunt that Nick pulled would surely put me in that condition if it happened to me." Brian told me. "Me too." I said. "Will Nick join you?" I asked him. "I'm not sure yet. Kevin said that he'll try to keep convince him to join. We are gonna have a group meeting and he's still part of the group." Brian informed me. "But I dunno. Nick has changed drastically. I know that he's stubborn but it's so not him to just pack up and leave. Something must be up." Brian told me. "I know. It's so not Nick to just do this." I agreed. The situation was just too weird for me. The record label called Nick to tell him that he was gonna be making an album and then he flies away without saying any goodbye. Something fishy was going on and hopefully, they could solve this. I looked at my watch and it read 4:30. "4:30." Brian voiced. He squeezed my hand as I looked at him. "Bri, take care of yourself, okay?" I said as I stroked his cheek. "I love you. I'll see you soon, okay?" Brian told me as I tried valiantly not to cry. "Okay. I love you too." I replied and gave him a deep kiss. It would be the last for a few days and I knew that I would need that. I took a deep breath and looked at the others. "Boys! Sound check!" I informed then. "Do we have to?" Joey asked in a kid's tone. "Yeah." I said rolling my eyes as I stood up. I pulled Brian up and I started walking to the stage with Brian. "Follow me!" I shouted without looking at them. Once we reached the stage, Brian bid them goodbye and left. "You okay?" Josh asked me. I just nodded at him. "Let's start." I started and we all got in position and started the sound check for the show later on. ----------------------- End of Chapter It's chapter 35 and Brian is leaving once again.
