A Tale of Two Boybands 1

***Disclaimer:

This is yet another story about those hunky boys of the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync written by a straight woman. Therefore, please excuse my writings if they appear to be a bit screwed due to my lack of knowledge. This story is a work of fiction and is purely written for the sole purpose of entertainment and enjoyment. This story does not imply anything about the sexuality of the person(s) involved. And if you're underage teenie or do not wish to read about male/male sexual relationships, this is now the time to shut your lap-top as there will be sexual explicit scenes throughout. Proceed with your own risk. Enough with the warnings, now on with the story.

A TALE OF TWO BOYBANDS:

CHAPTER I

March 29th, 2000, the final numbers released by Soundscan revealed that not only did 'N Sync break the Backstreet Boys record for selling the most albums in the first week, it shattered the fragile record into pieces as well as the hearts and egos of select few of men- the Backstreet Boys. Brian woke up to a chilling conclusion that it was either his career, which he knew for sure he could save, or a budding relationship with Justin, which he knew was impossible since Justin was heterosexual with too many women eyeing him and JC standing in the way. Brian walked into a room where his other bandmates were waiting for him anxiously for his answer.

"So are you in?" AJ asked, not even greeting him first.

"What do I have to do?" Brian asked.

"Nothing." AJ said. "Just sit down and watch as the career of those pretty boys crumble."

"Hey, aren't we pretty boys, too?" Nick asked.

"Shut the hell up." AJ snapped.

"Brian, we just wanted to make sure that you're okay with it." Howie said.

"I'm okay with it as long as no one gets hurt." Brian said.

"If they'll get hurt, you know I won't agree to it." Kevin told his cousin.

"Okay, attention, everyone!" AJ hollered. "Now that we all approve of this justifiable plan. We have to discuss it."

Everyone sat down and gathered around the table where donuts were filled the tabletop. Everyone grabbed a donut and began eating while paying close attention to AJ.

"'N Sync will be doing yet another stupid autograph signing session this Saturday during which they will perform yet antoher gay ass song. Kevin, you call JC and try to be a nice guy this time. Convince him to leave his prison camp and join the human race. The fucking album has been released, selling millions. He doesn't need to barricade himself in that stupid studio. It won't make him sound any better. Convince him to take Justin along with him. I have already discussed with the others about it. Saturday morning as they walked outside, we'll be ready to surprise them. The guys will greet our leading hearthrobs as they are forced into the limo. Then, we'll switch the limos as soon as we are far enough from Times Square. Nick and I will join them, chatting with them like the good old days. Howie, you stay at the hotel, keeping an eye on the news. We'll make another switch and finally, Kevin, you transport them to their new home. We'll keep them there until their scheduled appearance with Jay Leno. He would be so pissed. Nick and I will be spreading the rumors. Justin and JC ditched their fans to their love nest with Britney and Bobbi. I can see the headlines now. No more strings attached." AJ got up on his feet and stretched his arms. "Good luck everyone."

AJ and Nick left as soon as the meeting ended. Howie soon followed them out, leaving only Brian and Kevin in the room. When all was silent and clear, Kevin walked up to Brian, placing his hand on Brian's shoulder left shoulder.

"Don't worry. No one's getting hurt." Kevin reassured his cousin.

Later in the evening, Kevin made the inevitable phone call. All day long, AJ and Nick had been hassling him about calling JC. Finally, Kevin called. Despite the state of their current relationship, they still remained in contact as before. This phone call from the rival boy band would not cause any suspicions. AJ knew exactly what he was doing when he asked Kevin to call JC. The phone rang continuously for a minute before someone picked up the phone.

"Hi, JC." Kevin said.

"Kevin?" JC asked.

"Shh..." Kevin hushed him. "If the guys know that I'm calling you, I'll never see the end of it." Kevin laughed out loud. He was a good actor. Poor JC never saw it coming. "Can we meet and talk like old times?"

JC hesitated at first, but happily obliged. Sure, they remain in contact but it wasn't the same as seeing each other. JC missed Kevin as much as Kevin missed him. However, Kevin didn't want to see JC because he missed him. He had other business in mind.

They agreed on a bar near the MTV studios. They enjoyed swinging by the studios just to see their fans gathering in front of the studios to watch TRL. It was nice to see their fans. For their fans were the one that made them who they were.

"You sound like you're anxious to see me. Why? Justin's not around?" Kevin asked, trying to make small talk.

"Lately, Justin and I have drifted significantly." JC said as almost mute-like.

"He's growing up. I'm sure he'll come back to you in no time." Kevin reassured him. "You guys don't hang around much?"

"Nah...he's too busy these days with the women. The only thing we ever do together is shop and you know how much I hate shopping. I'd rather just go online and order things. When I go shopping with him, I feel like his chauffeur, his baby-sitter." JC explained.

"Haven't you always been?" Kevin asked, laughing.

"I guess you're right on that." JC smiled back. "I brought this on me. Treating him like a baby all his life. No wonder he still acts like he's five."

"Hey, I know what you can do to get Justin." Kevin said. He paused to see JC's reaction. He was excited. "But it involves shopping. I heard that Saks Fifth Avenue is having a major sale this weekend starting Friday. You two can get the early bird special. You always went shopping with me when we were together."

"I guess you're right. I've always gone shopping. What's the big deal with one more trip?" JC said. "We have an interview that morning so we would have to get there extra early. Do you have any idea when the store opens?"

"Aren't you lucky, it opens at 7:30am." Kevin said. "So, you'll be there?"

"I guess. Nothing else better to do and if another shopping trip will bring Justin back to me, why not?"

"I'll see you tomorrow." Kevin slipped.

"What did you say?"

"Oh, I mean, I might stop by there myself. And in that case, I'd see you there. Otherwise, pick something up for me. You know what I like." Kevin saved himself quickly, getting up. "I have to go now. I've been missing for way too long. Keep in touch, okay. And if you ever decide to give this another chance, call me."

And he was gone.

JC returned to the hotel. He was still very much exhausted when he agreed to meet with Kevin. He had stayed at the studio all day working on songs for other artists, among them were the girls of Wild Orchids. However, he swore Kevin was staring at him when he looked the other way. He felt Kevin's gaze on him throughout their brief meeting. Kevin still had feelings for him and vice versa. If only they were not from rival bands, they would be together. JC walked into his room and found Justin sleeping in his bed. He looked so adorable- so cute, so innocent, cuddled up in an infantile position. JC couldn't wake up this sleeping angel. He walked to the closet to hang his coat before retiring on the armchair in the room.

Morning soon arrived and JC got up early for the first time in several years. He was a man who was serious about his sleep. However, last night, he was unable to sleep well due to his awkward position on the chair. Unlike JC, Justin slept very well. He had never slept this well for several months. Just being in JC's room was safe enough for Justin. He loved being so close to JC. It was in JC's arms that Justin felt most safe. JC's was his sanctuary.

"Hey, Just." JC said, trying to wake up his friend. "It's time to get up before people start to think we're together."

Justin woke up and looked at his surroundings. He had forgotten that he had waited for JC all day long the previous day and had fallen asleep in JC's room. He slept too comfortable last night.

"I'm sorry." Justin said.

"Why do you say that?" JC asked, getting dressed in front of his best friend.

"I only took your bed." Justin said. "I didn't mean to. I waited for you all day yesterday and just happened to fall asleep here. Your bed is so much nicer than mine."

"What do you need?"

"I was wondering if you and I can hang out together. You know like old times."

"Justin, um...." JC paused. He didn't have the heart to tell his friend that yet again, JC Chasez was too busy for his best friend.

"Nevermind. I understand." Justin said at last, breaking the silence. "So what will you be doing today?"

"Writing a few new songs for Wild Orchids among others." JC answered. "I've been given so many great opportunities. I have to take them. You understand, right?"

Justin remained silent. He avoided looking into JC's eyes. He didn't want JC to know how upset he was with him. Sure, they had drifted apart and it was partly due to Justin, but for the past few months, he had tried desperately to strengthen their relationship, their friendship. Now, it was JC's turn to push them farther apart. JC lifted up Justin's face and turned him to face him.

"I'm sorry, J." JC said. "What about tomorrow? I know there's a sale at Saks Fifth

Avenue."

"But there's an interview."

"We'll go early."

"But you hate shopping."

"I do, but if I have to shop just to spend time with my best friend, then I'll deal with it." JC said. "Tomorrow, okay?"

A smile crept on Justin's face as he exited JC, leaving JC alone, again. JC grabbed his coat. He walked out of the hotel with Dre, one of 'N Sync's bodyguards. His destination, the studio, where he would barricade himself inside for the remaining of the day. JC took his work very serious. For so long, they had been doubted as true musicians. Now with the commercial success of No Strings Attached came opportunities that JC could only imagine. He had to take advantage of every opportunity he got. JC locked himself up in the studio while Dre remained outside, keeping a close watch on him. Finally, a quarter to midnight, JC walked out of the studio, satisfied with just one song he wrote that day.

"Ready to go?" Dre asked him.

"Yeah." JC said, leaving the studio with Dre following close behind.

JC entered a waiting limo as well as Dre. The phone rang vigorously. It was Kevin, again. He wanted to meet him. They drove by Saks Fifth Avenue and suddenly JC remembered his promise to Justin. He answered Kevin, "No. I can't. I have to get to sleep early tonight so I can wake up tomorrow."

"Well, that's okay. Have a great time tomorrow." Kevin said.

"Will I be seeing you tomorrow?"

"Nah. I don't think so. I have something else to do. Besides, I don't want to intrude.

Tomorrow is your time with Justin. I'm used to it. I'll see you some other time." Kevin explained and then hung up without even saying good bye.

JC shut off his cellular phone and sat back against the seat, reminiscing over memories of the times he and Kevin had spent together. They were so happy together. They really had a great time. If only things were different. If only.

Once JC arrived at the hotel, he marched down the hall into Justin's room. Without knocking on the door, JC barged in. He never had to knock. This time was no different. He walked in as Justin changed into some street clothes. He pulled on a wifebeater and then a sweatshirt. JC watched, mesmorizd by Justin's natural beauty. Soon JC realized that it was midnight and Justin was getting ready for another night out on town.

"Where are you going this late at night?" JC asked his best friend.

"Um..." Justin didn't want to reveal his destination, but knew very well he would be able to leave that room without telling JC where he was going. "Britney called and I'm going to see her."

"Justin, you are aware that she doesn't love you."

"I don't care. Right now, all I have is her." Justin responded.

"What?" JC shouted.

Justin immediately covered his ears with his hands. When JC finally stopped yelling, Justin pushed him to the side and walked out. JC stood, speechless. He couldn't believe Justin kept crawling back to someone like Britney Spears, who only dated him to further her own career. JC knew. Justin knew, but it didn't stop him from seeing her.

***There you have it...the another installment of "A Tale of Two Boy Bands". What will happen next now that Justin is no longer under the protective wings of his best friend, JC???? A question to think about. As many of you might know, this is the same story as "Entwined" only under a different name. I embrace the readers of "Entwined" and welcome the new readers. Next off, I'm such a liar. I said before that I didn't care, but now I want to hear from my readers. My email box is rather lonely these days. I don't know if the number of emails is indicative of the reader base. I have no idea if anyone's reading this story if no one emails me. So, please, I'm down on my knees, begging- please, email me! I'd love to hear comments and feedbacks and please no hate mail. This is not a teenybopper site and I don't expect to read them either. ThanksJ
