They buried my mother and I stood by the grave. Dad stood by me, crying and my brother, Caleb stood on the other side of me. Caleb had been away to college, and my parents had caught him up, except they substituted 'source of all evil' with 'magical hot shots'. They made it seem as if they were using good magic to keep her alive. I didn't want to spoil anything for him. He was hip to the whole 'magic' thing and knew the score. He and dad got along where dad and I didn't. He was All-American son and I was magical, struggling son. I liked being the complexed one. I had always referred to myself as an only child because I was now. Caleb was protective of me, though, but not like a brother, more like a dad or an uncle. He was annoying, but I still found him tolerable. He's pre-med and Mr. Perfect. " Sweetie, I think we should go home." Grandma Casey said, trying to comfort me. My grandpa Patil walked up and smiled, " Yes, we should prepare the gathering." he smiled. I loved my mother's parents, but they were annoying me and they seriously weren't gonna get me to leave. " Yeah," Caleb agreed, " We should go help." " Then Go." I said coldly. Caleb looked at Dad, who nodded, then at grandma and grandpa, " Go ahead." Dad said. Caleb and my grandparents left, " they're trying to help." " They should try harder." I said, looking back at the coffin in the ground, " There are people here." " I know." Dad said with a sigh, " You haven't talked to the Halliwells?" I looked up at him, " Before I was Charmed..." I started. " You didn't cause this, they didn't cause this..." Dad said. " Really? I coulda sworn...I don't want to talk about it." I said angrily. " You have to. It was our fault." Dad said. I looked at him angrily, " What?" I asked. " Me and Caly knew what could happen, but we didn't think. We didn't tel you or Caleb and we didn't bother to think what it would do to you or Caleb." Dad said softly. " You're right. You didn't and she didn't but the thing is I need someone to be mad at and I can't be mad at her because she's gone." I said helplessly. dad tried to hug me but I moved back, " You should go home and...what do you do for a wake?" " Wakes are before funerals..." Dad said. " The point is, you should go and do." I said. Dad nodded, " Make food, set up things...A lot of things." he said. " Do that." I said, turning back to the coffin. Dad nodded and left me. I remembered when I was six and I made cookies with mom and I spilled stuff on the floor and at the end, I got to lick the spoon. Then there was the time when we went to the park and caught fireflies and then my sixth grade graduation when I got a special award for my outstanding achievements and she hugged me and she was so proud. I turned to the tent and pushed it over, then kicked the nearby seats over and blew some fences back. " Pahras." Wyatt said behind me I turned to see Wyatt, Chris, Melinda and the rest of the Halliwell children. About nine of them all together. " Drake, are you okay?" Chris asked, walking to me. I blew the ground in front of him up, " Don't." I said insanely. " It's us." Melinda said quickly. " I know, I just..." I said angrily. Wyatt grabbed his head with pain, " Pahras, stop!" he said weakly. " Pahras." Kyle said, orbing in and grabbing me, " It's okay." " You couldn't heal her?!" I said loudly, " Who can you save?" " If you let me, I can save you?" Kyle said quickly. " I'm not in trouble." I said angrily. Chris raised his hands, " You just tried to blow me up!" he said in protest. " I'm leaving." I said, turning to leave. " Drake." Wyatt called. I stopped and turned to them, " She was gonna come back and we'd a family again!" I said desperately, " Me, her, dad...even Caleb!" " You can still have a family." Wyatt said, " If not us then yours." " Yeah, you, your dad and your brother. Your mom's gone, but they're here." Kyle said, walking towards me. " It doesn't work without her!" I shouted. " She thought it did. Doesn't that count for anything?! She tried to put everything together. She..." Melinda said. " ...WAS A FOOL!" I blurted. I stopped and looked around at them. They all had a shocked lookon their faces. " She just wanted to stay." Henry Jr. said. " But it caused her to go." Chris said, " Maybe you're right. IT was stupid, she did evil things for good means but it was still bad." he finished. The others looked at him. " I have to go." I said, walking to my car. " Where?" Kyle asked. " Gathering. There's a gathering." I said, sliding into my car. =================================================================================================================== " I'm sorry for your loss." was what I heard all day. It wasn't comforting the first time, so all the times after were just torture. It annoyed me! My loss?! What did anyone know about my loss? No one understood what happened and why she was dead, all they know is that she's gone. Gone? Why'd I say that? I don't believe that, she said she was with me always and I believe her. Dad, Caleb and the grand-rents all nodded and thanked people, but I wasn't going to. Thanking her and him and them for coming wouldn't bring her back. Ever. The Halliwells caught my eye. They had come with dad and Caleb, their children had apparently made it before I and I knew that the Halliwells had been the first to be here and the last to leave. One of my dad's business associates, Darva Lattimer, walked up to us and stood there in her slutty little dress and her skanky heels and oh-so-tacky pink lipstick. " Peter, I'm so sorry for your loss." she said softly, " I can't believe she's gone." " She's not." I said coldly. Everyone stopped. " Excuse me?" Darva asked. " My mom isn't dead." I said angrily. " Pahras." My grandmother said. " ....And just because you think she is doesn't mean dad's gonna bite on your hooker-ish line." I frowned. " I beg your pardon." Darva said, shocked. " Pahras." Caleb said. " You could have at least been original in your hooker-plot. My mother is with us always and I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want you and your slutty ways at her...gathering. I'm sick of everyone saying she's gone...she's not! You have no idea about my loss!" I shouted, causing everyone to look. " PAHRAS!" Dad said angrily, " Apologize." " Screw you and her!" I said, running up the stairs and slamming the door. ===================================================================================================================== After fleeing the scene, Is at by my window, watching people leave and wondering where they were going and I realized my mother can't anymore. She's in a box, pine, oak, what does it matter, it's a box. I'm here again, in my room, and I'm watching cars leave and my eyes are leaking. My eyes caught sight of the Halliwells trekking back to the Manor, going to do more good. I saw Wyatt turn around and my eyes looked right into his. It was like a trance. I broke the trance when there was a knock on my door. " Can I come in?" Piper said from the door. " If I say no, are you still coming in?" I asked. " Yes." Piper said coming in, " Hey, sweetie." I gave a weak smile. Piper did the same and walked over to the window with me, " I guess how are you would be a stupid question, huh?" she asked. " Honestly? Yeah." I said sarcastically, " I just shouted at a woman at my mother's...gathering." I shrugged, " Piper, my mom has a gathering." Piper hugged me close, " I know, sweetie. I know." she sniffed. " I know why she did it, but how could she?" I asked. " A woman trying to save her family will do anything." Piper answered, " I've been there." " I'm trying to understand, I really am, but I'm not...I can't...there are things that don't add up." I said tearfully. " The past is the past." Piper said softly, " And we're all here for you. Billie's flying in tomorrow." I was silent for a minute. " Pahras." Piper said. *Vision* The Manor was being attacked and Chris and Wyatt were thrown. I stood alone and I tried to move, but I couldn't as an energy ball came spiraling at me! *Vision* " PIPER! I think Wyatt and Chris are in trouble." I said, staring into Wyatt's room from the window. ================================================================================================================== " Well, he is going through some things. I just think we should all be a little more understanding." Melinda said. " Yeah, but we didn't do anything." Henry Jr. said angrily, " We're the ones who help." " Yeah, but imagine if it was Auntie Paige." Wyatt said, leaning on the book. Henry nodded, " Yeah, but I wouldn't act like that." he said. " He's trying to deal with the death of his mother." Phoebe said. " Well, can't he just go back to working alot?" Paige asked, walking across the attic to the book. " No." Paige said, walking to the book also, " His mother was just hurt before, she's dead now. She can't come back, she's gone." " So we should ignore what he does and says?" Prudence asked. " He really hasn't said much." Chris said. " He did try to blow you up." Wyatt smirked, " But I feel that's a good thing." " Well, come on kids, we're going home to see your father, he had to leave early." Paige said. " Can you orb us off." Phoebe asked. " Sure." Paige said, orbing them all home. As Phoebe, Paige and thier kids orbed out, Kyle orbed in. " Hey, you guys seen Pahras?" Kyle asked. " No." Wyatt said, rolling his eyes. Chris looked from Wyatt to Kyle, " Wyatt." he said. " What?" Kyle asked. " We know that you're his..." Wyatt trailed. " You do? And?" Kyle said. " It won't last." Kyle said. " You haven't heard?" Wyatt smirked, " In the future, we're married with kids." Kyle scoffed, " Well, that was the future, he's got a new one now." he smiled. " You think so?" Wyatt asked, walking to Kyle. " I know so." Kyle said, now face to face with Wyatt. Chris walked between them, " Come on, guys, this isn't the time." he said, trying to calm them. " Incoming!" I shouted, raising my hand and attempting to blast the demon that had shimmered in behind them. The demon smirked, " The Source says hi!" he said lobbing the energy ball at me! " Pahras!" Wyatt said, orbing me from the path of the energy ball and behind the demon. I kicked the demon in the back of the knees. " Blow him up!" Chris shouted. I raised my hand and tried to blow him up but instead, the bookcase blew up, " What the fu..." I started, but I ducked the incoming energy ball. " Your powers are tied to your emotions!" Piper shouted from the door, " Focus!" " Right. demon...evil demon." I snapped. The demon threw another energy ball and as it got my face, it froze. I nodded to Chris, who waved his hand and sent it back at the demon, who burst into flames. " Tell me he meant the source of herpes, cause sex I can deal with." I said, walking to the Book of Shadows. " I'm with you." Wyatt said, joining me at the book. " Look, Kyle, you should go and see if the Elders have anything helpful to contribute. Mom, you should go and make sure everything alright at the club and resturaunt." Chris said, turning to us, " And we should hit the books and have a plan." " We?" Wyatt asked, " This 'we' has a really irritated charge." Wyatt said, orbing out. I chuckled, " Shoulda known that'd happen. Probably going to drink with his friends again." I sighed. Chris laughed, " So, you're not done with this all?" he asked. " What?" I asked. " In the bar." Chris said, " You said you quit and left." I sighed and looked down at the book, " It's been a long year." I said simply. " What Tristan said..." Chris started. " It was..." I started. " Not true." Chris said, " Not true at all. We've always been your family and we'll always be your family." " Scary." I said. " Come again." Chris asked. " I guess I knew she was going to die, but Chris I'm not strong like you or Wyatt, and losing her the first time nearly killed me. When she came back to life, I planned it in my mind. We were going to go to the park and have dinners and...Chris, I'm leaving." I said from nowhere. Chris stared up at me, " When you say leave, you mean..." he asked. " I'm going to live with Caleb." I said slowly, " He's got a job as a teacher in New York and I'm pretty much not coming back from my visit." I confessed. " Am I the first to know?" he asked. " Yeah. I love you," I said, " You're my best friend and I thought you should know first." Chris was silent and he had his head down, looking at the book. " Say something." I said. " Say what? That you're running away?" Chris said angrily, " What about the power of three?" " Any Halliwell could sub for me." I said. Chris groaned, " No...okay, yes, but mom said we're the Charmed Ones. The Halliwells could sub if, say, me or Wyatt left, but you are irreplacible. If it's not us, then the Charmed Ones aren't the Charmed Ones. It's meant to be us." " You really think I'm running?" I asked. " Yeah. What I don't know is from what, you're doing so great here." he said. " I want to be here, with you..." I paused and looked at him, "...and Wyatt and Piper and everyone, but here's not where I'm supposed to be right now." " What happens when demons come after you?" Chris asked. " I'm not as weak as you think." I replied. Chris sighed, " I didn't mean...I just meant...What about Kyle?" Chris asked, leaning on the window sill. " He doesn't know yet." I said, " And I thought you'd be happy that I'd be breaking up with him. You were right, it's not gonna last." " I am not happy that you're leaving. When I said you should break up, I didn't mean leave us." Chris said loudly, " Sorry." " No, you're not, but it's okay." I said, standing beside him at the window, " Chris..." I started, but a weird voice spoke to me. It told me that if I stayed, I'd hurt them. It said that it was my worst fear and the voice was right. " We'd better find something on the source." Chris said, " Did you and Kyle.." " No. Chris, the only one I've ever...is Wyatt." I smirked. " Wyatt? Really?" he asked. " It's over." I said," After graduation, I'm leaving and that's got to be our secret." Chris nodded. " Thank you." I smiled weakly, walking back to the book.
