Barry Schwieber had gone to college and left the life he knew. College, he found, was a place where he could leave his old self too. Sure, in highschool he was a geek, and he got beat up almost everyday, but college was different. Armed with his charisma, a good sense of humor, and a disregard for the past, he was off. While his brother flourished in college, Neil continued to flounder. Neil was still awkward; he'd invariably stutter and stumble whenever a girl was around. He'd never had a girlfriend, and all he knew of the opposite sex was revealed to him through a sleazy porno flick. He hated his life as it stood, but what really bothered him the most was that no one noticed his qualities. Neil was well into puberty and had begun working out, but no one cared. He loved how far his stomach and pecs had come already, but they were secondary. More than anything else, Neil worked his ass. He did anything and everything he could do to firm it. While at first he had no idea what to do, he began trying everything he could think of, and slowly he figured it out. Pretty soon he had a regular workout schedule for his ass, and he stuck to it. It had been almost a year since Neil started working out, and several months since Barry had come home to visit. Neil was looking forward to his Sophomore year in highschool, but only because it would signal the end of the summer. His best friend Sam's sister had gone missing from an acedemic summit she was headed to, and he was a wreck. Lindsey was the only girl he'd ever had romantic feelings for, but Sam wouldn't have it. When Lindsey disapeared, Neil took it harder than Sam did, and he was hurt by it. There was a confrontation in which Neil told Sam that if he didn't care for his own sister, then he was scum, and he was not worth being friends with. Since that day they hadn't taked, and their other friend, Bill, had decided not to take sides. So, as it stood, Neil had only to wait out a summer with no friends for another school year of harrassment and solitude. Another year of waating effort on a body no one would appreciate. The only thing Neil could look forward to was his brother's homecoming. Neil was eager to talk to him about some dreams he'd been having. He was afraid of what they meant, and as such, he'd been afraid to talk to anyone about them. He decided he'd ask Barry, because he'd always confided in his brother, and he felt that Barry would be understanding. [Enjoy? Tell me about it. Intruiged?
