If the thought of two men together is also offensive, read no more. Disclaimer: I dont know Jake, and I don't claim to know him or his sexual preference, he's pretty and all, but really, it's his own business. This work is entirely fiction. Anyway, on with the chapter. Chapter 13: A few hours later Jake began to awaken in Chris' bed. As he opened his eyes, he noticed Chris wasn't in the bed. Slowly Jake sat up and searched for his underwear on the floor. After finding them, he slipped them on and slowly arose from the bed in search of Chris. Hearing the sound of water coming from the bathroom, Jake quietly made his way in and poked his head into the shower, "There you are." Chris quickly rinsed the soap bubbles off his face before turning his head, "Hey, come in." he replied as he stepped aside. Jake quickly dropped off his shorts once more before stepping into the glass cubicle. Being a new building, there was enough room in the shower to accommodate a large Venezuelan soccer team. Jake quickly moved under the warm jet of water and allowed it to soak into his hair. He smiled as he saw Chris standing out of the water shaking. "What's wrong?" "Cold. Very cold." Chris stuttered as he held is arms close to his chest. Quickly Jake pulled Chris close to his body under the jet of water. As he did, he softly kissed Chris on the lips, while simultaneously wrapping his arms around Chris' cold, wet body. Chris decided to ignore the blood rushing to his groin, in favor of being held in Jake's warm embrace. Shortly after Jake looked over Chris' shoulder to try to locate something, "Have you got any shampoo in here?" Breaking free, Chris turned around, picked up a small green bottle and handed it to Jake, "Here you go, you can smell like someone crushed fruit on your head too." Jake chuckled and took the bottle from Chris. He squeezed a small amount into this hand and began to work it through his wet hair. As he began to work it in, Chris quickly jumped out of the shower and grabbed a towel. As Chris finished toweling himself off, he quickly wrapped it around his waist, pulled another towel from the cupboard, and placed it on the counter near the shower door. "I got a towel for you Jake," Chris explained, before turning to return to the bedroom to dress himself. Walking into the bedroom, Chris smiled as he noticed the clothing strewn all over the floor. Deciding to dress first, he continued into the wardrobe and pulled on a pair of boxers. He then slipped on a pair of jeans and a black polo shirt. After adjusting the collar, Chris then padded his way out to the bedroom. Hearing Jake turn the water off, he quickly yelled out, "Raid my wardrobe for anything you want Jake." He then turned his attention to picking up the pairs of jeans and other items of clothing scattered around the floor. Chris sorted his from Jakes and folded them neatly on the chest at the end of the bed. Task completed, Chris padded his way back into the living room to see the sun still shining brightly outside. "What time is it?" Chris muttered as he made his way over to see the clock on the wall. It was just after 6. Chris then padded his way over to where the strewn shirts lay on the couch. As he approached, he saw a sight that made him smile. Sleeping on Chris' shirt was Boo Radley, with Fergus sleeping on top of him. Softly Chris sat down next to them and lightly stroked Fergus' head. "What time is it?" Jake questioned as he appeared out of the bedroom wearing a light blue polo shirt and dark jeans. "A little after 6." Chris said as Jake padded his way over and snuggled up to Chris. Jake repositioned himself so he could lean his head on Chris' shoulder. "Feel free to kick me out whenever." Putting his arm around Jakes warm body, Chris rested his head on Jakes, "I don't want you to leave," He sniffed the familiar smell of the crushed fruit in Jakes hair, "Stay the whole night." Lightly stroking Chris' arm, Jake continued, "I really don't want to go, but unless you've been hiding dog food somewhere, I will have to go home." "Well," Chris said softly, "we could maybe go down to see Selena for dinner, there's a small store nearby, we could always pick up some on the way back here." "Sounds good," Jake muttered as he closed his eyes. "Want to go now?" "Might as well," Chris said as he began to move. After slipping their shoes on, Jake followed Chris out the door. As soon as they stepped outside, they were greeted by the harshness of the afternoon light and heat. Following Chris down the stairs, Jake admired the man he loved bounce along the path towards the gate. Once on the street the couple walked towards the direction of the restaurant side by side. After a short walk, they made a small diversion to the convenience store. Chris pulled the door open and held it open allowing Jake to pass before following him inside. Immediately welcomed by the hum of the various fridges and freezers located in the store, Chris led Jake down one of the aisles containing the various pet food supplies. He then came to a halt as he reached the dog food section. Jake quickly surveyed the shelves before admitting, "Well, they don't have what he usually has." He looked over at Chris who was smiling at him. "What?" He asked. "Oh it's nothing," Chris explained, "It's just cute you care that much about what he eats." "He's my dog; he means the world to me. I'm not going to go around buying crap for him." Jake defended. "I know you're the same about your cat." "I know, I'm just saying, it's cute." Jake smiled and squatted in the aisle, trying to find something suitable for his dog. Finally deciding on a gourmet container of dog food, he made his way with Chris to the checkout and paid for the food. As they exited the store, the couple continued down to the restaurant unnoticed by the various residents milling about on the street. Approaching the restaurant, Jake once again caught the smell of garlic emanating from the large doors. He quickly followed Chris inside and stood behind him. "Hey Chris," came a familiar voice from behind the bar. Chris smiled, "Hey Selena. How are you?" Putting down the glass she had been polishing, Selena made her way from behind the bar to warmly hug Chris, "I'm great now that you've come to visit me. Oh and I see you brought your friend again." She replied as she looked over Chris' shoulder to spot Jake standing with his hands in his pockets, "Hi Jake, how are you?" "I'm good." Jake replied nervously. "That's good then." Selena joked. "Come on guys, I think we got a couple of seats free." Jake and Chris looked around and chuckled. The place was empty except for one couple sitting at a table near the window. "Well, I guess if you can find a table." Chris replied with a coy smile. Leading them to a table close to one of the fan units, Selena handed them both a menu before taking their drink orders. Once she had them, she wandered off to allow Jake and Chris to decide on what they wanted to eat. Jake slid the shopping bag underneath his chair before pouring himself a glass of water, "It's really hot in here tonight isn't it?" Chris nodded and whispered, "I guess it's because you're in here." He then smirked at his own statement. Minutes later Selena returned with their drinks and rest her self on the table next to them, "What can I get you guys?" Chris looked over at Jake, "I'm probably just going to get a salad, I'm not that hungry." Jake looked over to Selena and ordered the same thing. Selena quickly wrote down the order and excused herself. Taking a sip from his drink, Chris asked, "What are you doing next weekend?" "I'm not sure, I was thinking about flying out to New York to see Maggie." Jake replied as he too took a sip from his drink. "Oh okay," Chris replied solemnly. Taking another sip, he tried to reduce his sweating by taking in an ice cube into his mouth. He crunched it before looking back at Jake. Wondering where Chris was leading, Jake enquired, "Did you have something in mind?" "Oh I'm going to Terry & Will's Baby Shower on Saturday, I was hoping you would come, but if you're going to see Maggie it doesn't matter. You should see your sister." Suddenly Selena returned to the table carrying two bowls containing garden salad. She placed them down and quickly excused herself, as some other customers had entered the restaurant. "I can go another time." Jake replied as he picked up his fork. Chris quickly swallowed the tomato he had in his mouth, "You really should go Jake. Spend time with your sister, talk to her about....you know..." "I'll think about it," Jake commented as he speared a piece of salad greenery. "I can always reschedule, I would love to see your god daughter." Chris smiled at the thought of being The Godfather. He then subtly moved his hand under the table and placed it near Jakes knee. Jake in turn did the same, lightly brushing his hand with Chris' in secret. After they finished their meals, Selena quickly arrived to collect the plates. She apologized for the malfunctioning cooling system. Paying the bill, Chris and Jake then collected their belongings and slowly made their way back to Chris' building, reveling in the slightly cooler temperature of the evening. Once again, they went relatively unnoticed by the residents, who were too focused on cooling down rather than celebrity spotting on their small street. Arriving back at the apartment, Chris walked with Jake towards the kitchen. "I think I've got a spare pet food bowl here somewhere." He squatted down on the floor to fish out the small metal bowl. He picked it up and handed it to Jake before turning his attention to feeding Fergus. Jake quickly pulled the tab off the plastic container and emptied its contents into the bowl, "Here boy!" He called, trying to get the attention of Boo Radley. As the dog quickly trotted over to the kitchen, Jake put the bowl on the ground and softly ruffled his ears. Standing up, Jake then moved behind Chris who was finishing with his duties. He put his arms around Chris' waist and kissed the back of his neck sticking out from the polo shirt. "You're so cute." Jake whispered. Chris moved from side to side while trapped in Jakes arms. He loved feeling so secure, being held within the muscled, strong, yet soft and warm arms. Still sweating from the heat outside, Chris slowly began to waddle his way to the couch, with Jake still holding onto his waist. Finally reaching the couch, he kicked his shoes off and collapsed on the couch, followed by Jake. As soon as Jake was fully settled on the couch, Chris leaned over and pulled Jakes shoes off. Chris then turned to his familiar spot, resting his head on Jakes chest, while being held in place by the strong arms. A few hours, and several make out sessions later, Chris finally surrendered to his need to retire to his room. "Jake, I need to go to bed," Chris whispered in Jakes ear, "I have work tomorrow." Jake slowly opened his eyes and lowered his arm from Chris. "Mm okay. I think I will join you." As Chris padded his way into the bedroom, Jake stood up and gently patted his dog on the head before finally making his way into Chris' bathroom to brush his teeth. Pulling his borrowed shirt and jeans off, Jake then made his way back into the bedroom to find Chris already with his head on the pillow. Pulling the sheets back, Jake softly slid in and switched off the light. Moving in behind Chris, he quickly put his right arm around Chris and gently stroked his chest. After kissing Chris again behind the ear he whispered, "Goodnight cutie." ********************************************************************** "So, what's new with you?" Amy asked as she took a seat on the couch in Chris' office. "Did Jake end up talking with you after that night?" Chris sat down in his office chair and logged off the server. As he was finishing for the day, he no longer required the access to the computer or his case files. "We spoke yes." He then clicked the Logoff button, "Long story short, we're sort of together now." Amy smiled, "That's good. When he was speaking to me, it was obvious that he was smitten with you. I'm glad you're together." Chris switched the screen off and stood up, "Yeah we had a few rocky patches, but I think things will work out." He then motioned for Amy to follow him to the door. "What's it like dating a celebrity then?" She enquired. "It's just the same as dating anyone else I guess, you just have to be a bit more careful around though." Chris said as he opened the door. "He's really sweet." Chris escorted Amy back to the large door before making his way back into the lab to finalize some things for the day. He made his way down a brightly lit corridor lined with various labs. As he walked down, he passed a few other people who were engrossed with the results they were examining. Continuing down the corridor, he slowed down in his pace, as he felt something strange in his stomach. Something was not right. Slowing down further, he looked around and sniffed the air at the same time. It had a scent of chemicals, more so than usual. Obviously, someone had not turned on the extraction fans in one of the labs. Chris shrugged it off as he continued down the corridor. With the various labs, he wasn't sure which lab the smell was emanating from. Suddenly something caught his attention. He looked through one of the windows as a young woman began to ignite a Bunsen burner. "Oh shit, don't!" Chris yelled before a large explosion sent Chris flying across the corridor, smashing his head against the wall. As Chris hit the wall, all the glass windows in the lab suddenly shattered, sending glass shards flying around the air. Slowly opening his eyes, Chris felt a searing pain coming from the side of his head. He slowly looked around as saw smoke and flames billowing out of the lab he had just been looking into. The pain coming from his head was too much for him, he slowly began to close his eyes. Then suddenly everything began to go fuzzy and faded to black. --- Chapter 14 Soon --- D'oh, I did it again didn't I?
