Kingdom Hearts: A New Destiny Book I - Destiny Island Chapter 4 - A Mother's Pain It was the deep silence that woke Sora up. He yawned while looking over at the picturesque scene. The sun was shining through an almost cloudless sky. The birds serenading one another was missing and the ocean was unusually quiet that day. It was very surreal and for a moment, Sora believed he was still trapped in his dreams. The groggy youth laid back, thinking about his latest dream. It was then that he noticed Kairi staring down at him. "Whoa!" He yelled out in surprise. Sora leapt back a few feet, coming to rest on his knees. Kairi only looked at him and giggled. "Gimmie a break Kairi." He felt a little foolish, being caught off guard so easily by his best friend. "Sora you lazy bum. I knew that I'd find you snoozing down here." She couldn't help teasing him so unmercifully. Simply knowing that she could make Sora squirm gave her a small sense of satisfaction. Kairi teased him a little everyday. It was a routine of theirs, a very comfortable one that gave Kairi a sense of permanency. It was one of the few things that let Kairi feel like Destiny Island had always been her home. Sora's frantic response interrupted her train of thought. "NO! This huge black thing swallowed me up!" Sora stared down at the sandy beach, remembering every vivid detail of his battle with the dark monster. "I couldn't breath... I couldn't- OUCH!" Kairi bopped him on the head, trying to get him to look up and notice Evan. "Are you still dreaming?" She asked Sora. "It wasn't a dream! Or was it? I don't know. What was that place? So bizarre..." Sora shook his head, not understanding what any of his dream might mean. "Yeah sure." Kairi coughed and motioned with her head towards Evan. He was standing a few feet off to her side, his head hung low and he had his hands behind his back. Sora shook off the daze and finally noticed Evan. Only one thing came to mind. "Wow." It was all he could think of to say as he stared at the vision standing before him. He looked at Evan as if this was the first time he had ever seen him. Evan's light bluish hair gleamed an almost iridescent white in the sun. It was braided into one huge braid that draped over his shoulder, stopping around his abdominal area. His golden colored eyes drew Sora in. He felt like he was staring into the face of an angel and for a moment, he knew that he was in love. This angelic wonder wore a simple garment, a white shirt and a pair of baggy black pants. Sora notice Evan had on a pair of his old sneakers, they matched the color of his hair. "Sora, it's not nice to leave your mouth hanging open like that." Sora recovered from his daze. He stood up but he wasn't sure of what to say to Evan. He felt very small and nervous in Evan's presence. "So, uhh... nice shoes." Sora kicked himself mentally. He felt stupid for saying something so silly. "T-thanks..." Evan responded. "Kairi found them in your closet, they're a little tight, but I like them." He smiled brightly at Sora as he sat down next to him. Kairi walked to the edge of the shore so she could give the two boys some time to talk, she didn't get very far though. "Say, Kairi, what was your hometown like? You know, where you grew Up." He didn't really want Kairi to leave them alone. Kairi looked back over her shoulder. "I've told you before, I don't remember." She chuckled at the question he has asked her a million times before. "Nothing at all?" Sora pressed her. "Nothing." Kairi wished she could remember, but all of her memories escaped her. The only thing she could remember from her past was an elderly face and a woman's voice that made her feel safe. "Do you remember your home Evan?" Sora was hoping he had. He wanted to know everything there was to know about Evan. "Well..." Evan peered up at the sky. "It was a very big place, and there were lots of people there." Evan's memories were starting to come back to him, but they were all a little fuzzy. The only thing he was really sure of, was that he left home for a reason, he just couldn't remember what that reason was. He looked back at Sora, wondering if he should let himself get so close to someone. "Everything is still kind of a blur." "You ever want to go back Kairi?" Sora wondered what it might be like to not remember his home. He shuddered at the thought. "Well, I'm happy here." Kairi smiled at the two boys. "Really..." Sora mused, he hoped that Evan would be as happy here with him. "But you know... I wouldn't mind going to see it." She told them excitedly. "I'd like to see your world," Evan chimed in. "And maybe someday I could show you mine." He looked at Sora, wondering if he would like to see his home. "I'd like to see it too. Along with any other worlds out there! I want to see 'em all!" Sora was pumped up and excited. "So what're we waiting for?" Kairi asked the two young boys. "Hey, aren't you guys forgetting about me.?" The three young teenagers turned to see Riku standing behind them. He was wearing that same self-assuring smile that he always seems to have. Riku carried a large piece of driftwood underneath his arm. As he walked towards Kairi, Riku tossed the log to Sora, completely ignoring Evan as best he could. "OW!" Sora cried out in a mixture of astonishment and pain as the log fell on top of him. It was a little too heavy for him to have caught successfully. Evan rushed to help him. "You okay?" He asked Sora, helping him push the log off. Sora only nodded in response. "And you're just as lazy as he is!" Riku teased Kairi. She smiled back at him sheepishly. "So you noticed. Okay, we'll finish it together. I'll race you!" Kairi clapped her hands together in excitement. The other three boys didn't look quite as excited however. "Huh?" Sora whined "What, are you kidding?" Riku complained halfheartedly. "Ready? GO!" She cried out. Sora and Riku stared at each other for a moment, and then they leapt off the ground, racing towards the far end of the shore. Kairi trailed after them, laughing all the way. Little did they notice they had left poor Evan all alone. "Wait for me!" He called out after them, but they were already out of earshot. Evan sighed heavily, then jogged after his exuberant new friends. ************************************************************************* While Sora and his friends were at the beach working on their raft, there were some unfriendly villagers up to no good. They stalked through the shadows so they couldn't be seen. Slinking and slithering just on the out skirts of the village. Hate drove the leader to his wicked deeds while fear whipped his cronies into unquestionable compliance. They settled into the forest, watching their prey, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Patricia was humming lightly to herself as she stepped out her door. When Kairi and Evan left, she took it upon herself to get cleaned up. She had put on a simple dress with a floral print, tied back her hair and dabbed some sweet smelling perfume on her skin. She made her way to doctor Hikari's home, carrying some of the leftover lunch with her. Although it was well past noon, Patricia knew how much he enjoyed her cooking. She lightly rapped on the door with her foot. "Just a minute!" Came a sturdy voice. Doctor Hikari opened the door, his face brightened considerably when he saw who had come to pay him a visit. "It's good to see you Patty. Please, come in." He moved out of the way while motioning for her to enter. She smiled demurely as she crossed the threshold. "I brought you a little lunch. As much as you pour over those scrolls of yours, I figured you hadn't taken the time to eat anything yet." The doctor patted his stomach lightly. "You know me too well." He replied, chuckling to himself. "Can I get you some tea?" "That would be lovely, thank you." She set the tray of food down on a small table and sat down while Doctor Hikari brought out a small tea set. He poured them both a cup of hot tea and joined her. "So how is Evan doing?" The doctor dove into the plate of food eagerly. "He looks much better. He and Sora have really hit it off." Patricia added a small amount of honey to her tea. Hikari paused for a moment, not sure whether he should ask the obvious question. An uncomfortable moment passed between them. "So...uh...do you really think Sora might be gay?" He took a chance. While he would be alright with Sora's homosexuality, he knew that Patricia was having a difficult time with it. It was taboo in their village for men to consort with other men. He thought back to his youth, when things were so much simpler. It wasn't so odd to see young men with other guys, but when Darin become a village elder, it all changed. He had deemed it sinful and it wasn't long before a witch-hunt ensued to stamp it out. They were dark times, and the situation hasn't improved much in the present. "Well, I didn't want to think it was true," Patty started to say. "I thought maybe when Kairi came to the island, he would start to notice the girls a little more." She stared down at her tea, thinking of her son. "But he never did, and I've seen how he sometimes looks at Riku." "Does it bother you?" He pressed her. She sipped her tea while she thought about his question. How did she feel about it? The idea of it all confused her. She wished her husband were still here, maybe he would know what to do. "It did at first. Growing up, I only ever heard how bad it was, but I want my son to be happy." She pictured Sora's smiling face. "And if this makes him happy, then I'll be happy for him." The doctor polished off the last of food. "It'll be okay you know." He reached across the table and took Patricia's hands in his own, trying to reassure her, to calm her fears. "I know." She pulled her hands away and stood up. "Well, I really must be going, thanks for the talk." She headed towards the door with the empty tray, but the doctor stopped her. "You don't have to go." He looked deeply into her eyes. "You are always welcomed here." The young mother smile sadly at him, and gave him a small chaste kiss on the check. "Thanks." It was all she said to him and she was out the door before he could say or do anything else. They played this torturous game over and over. They would flirt a little or give one another small friendly like kisses, but it never went anywhere beyond that. She wouldn't let it. Even though the doc was nearly a decade older than her, she had become quite fond of him over the years. Even though she wanted to be with him, she couldn't betray the memory of her husband, not while there was still hope that he might come back some day. Patricia wondered what happened to him, what was keeping him from being with his family. Maybe someday she would find out. Patty was nearly to her home when she noticed something was wrong. The windows to her home were broken and there were vegetables lying everywhere. "Oh no," she muttered to herself, running towards the back of the house. The sound of the crashing tray was drowned out be her scream. *********************************************************************** Kairi stood on the large log raft they had been working on. They had built it in the small valley where they held their races. Hardly anybody used that part of the island, so keeping the raft a secret was fairly easy. The raft was fairly crude in design, only a bunch of logs lashed together creating one large flat surface. They hoped that they could use this craft to take them to new places, away from the dull life they had on Destiny Island. She didn't want to leave this place or her wonderful life she built here, but she couldn't say no to Riku or Sora. So Kairi went along with their designs, seeing them happy was all she really worried about. Kairi watched Evan and Sora wistfully. Though they weren't saying much, the way they looked at one another said so much more than words could describe. A pang of sadness filled her heart as she remembered the loneliness. Wakka and Tidus had each other, and it looked like Sora and Evan would be an item soon. She wondered what it felt like to have someone to share your life with. She pushed the sad thoughts to the farthest reaches of her mind as Sora and Evan came up to her. "So, can you gather the rest of the supplies?" Sora didn't respond immediately, he was too busy admiring how much better Evan was looking. Evan kept his head down most of the time, so Sora couldn't see how much he was blushing or enjoying all the attention he was getting. "Sora, are you listening to me?" Kairi finally said out of exasperation. "Yeah, I heard you." He took his eyes off young Evan long enough to respond to Kairi's question. She eyed him suspiciously before she continued. "Okay, here's what you need to go find: Two Logs. One Cloth. One Rope. Bring everything back here. If you need help, just ask. I'm counting on you!" The boys looked at her incredulously. "Um...where do find that stuff?" Evan wasn't very confident about scouring the island for the supplies. There was no telling how long it will take. "What! You're already asking for help?" Kairi was astonished. She threw her hands up in the air in annoyance. "MEN!" "Aww c'mon Kairi, just a little hint?" Sora pleaded with her. Kairi crossed her arms and ignored him. Sora whispered something in Evan's ear and a few moments later, the two mischievous boys hit her with Sora's secret weapon. Evan and Sora genuflected before her, clasped their hands together in supplication and begged her. "PLEASE!" The two boys said in unison. They had the most adorable puppy dog expression on their faces, the one thing Kairi knew she couldn't resist. "Alright, alright. I'll give you a hint." She giggled. "You should be able to find them all around here. You won't have to go searching the entire island for the supplies." Evan and Sora leapt up and hugged each other in joy. They quickly pulled away once they realized what they were doing. "We'll be back later Kairi." Sora took Evan's hand and dragged him along. She only shook her head and laughed as she watched them go. Kairi walked up to a palm tree and sat down with her back against it. She watched the soothing ocean waves, letting her mind drift. Her stream of consciousness brought a strange mixture of sights and sounds to mind before sleep wrapped her in his peaceful embrace. The two teenagers strolled along the beach. Sora was excited about the little scavenger hunt, but Evan was too distracted to worry about it. The only thing on his mind was the feeling of Sora's hand. It was very warm and it seemed to fit in his hand like a perfect puzzle piece. It was as if their hands were made to hold each other. Self consciously, Evan pulled his hand away as they spotted Wakka farther up the beach. They passed under a small bridge that connected the main island with a small circular piece of land just off the coast, completely unaware that someone was watching their every move. This was a beautiful part of the island. A small outcropping of rock jutted out of the ground to their right. Evan watched the water pouring down from the top of the mountain, emptying out into a small pool. Sora pointed to the far side of the mountain. There was an enormous tree growing next to the huge rock piece. "There's a clubhouse over there. It's been here for as long as I can remember." Evan nodded in response, hoping that maybe he could be with Sora alone inside the clubhouse. "Hey, what's happening man?" Wakka was just standing there with his hands behind his head. "Sorry we rushed out on you earlier. Name's Wakka." He held his hand out towards Evan. "H-hi, I'm Evan." He shook the Wakka's hand hesitantly, though he didn't seem to notice. Wakka turned his attention back to Sora. "Yo! You up for a round?" He was hoping to get in a little exercise. Tidus was off somewhere else and dueling was the only other thing that got his blood pumping. "Not today. We`re helping Riku and Kairi with the raft." Wakka look disappointed for a moment, but quickly recovered. "Leave everything to Riku. He'll take care of things." Sora kicked the sand in defiance. "I can take care of things better than him." Wakka stared at Sora for a minute, then burst out in laughter. Sora's face went flush. "Riku's good at pretty much everything. Even you're no match for him." Sora tackled him to the ground. He straddled Wakka and tickled him unmercifully. Wakka was pinned to the ground and there was nothing he could as the tears streamed down his face from laughing so hard. While the two friends were playing around, Evan spotted Selphie. She was sitting by herself on the end of a tiny dock. Without even realizing what he was doing, he joined her at the pier, letting his legs dangle over the edge, a few feet above the water. "Aah, the breeze feels great." She continued to stare out into the ocean, losing herself in the horizon. Evan only stared down at the water, watching the fish swim to and fro. "How are you feeling Evan?" She asked without looking at him. Evan shrugged. "Alright I guess." He wrapped his arms around himself in comfort. "H-how is your dad?" Selphie sighed deeply and looked Evan in the eyes. He could see a great deal of sadness in her. Selphie didn't say anything for a while, she looked back at the ocean before she spoke. "He's not really my dad, y'know." Evan looked at her in confusion. "We are a lot like you in way. We just showed up on this island without knowing how we got here." "R-really? Who?" Evan was intrigued by her admissions. "Wakka and Tidus have been here the longest, and Doctor Hikari found me on the shore about two years ago." Selphie hugged her knees to her chest. "Kairi showed up a few months later. The villagers have been really nice to us all, but I wish I could go back home." "What was your home like?" Evan tried hard to remember his home, he would get flashes of it, but his memories were still fragmented. "It's hard to remember," Selphie started to say. "I remember being near the ocean and there was this beautiful garden I use to play in." She paused for moment, peering up at the sky. "There were other kids there, and we were one big happy family." She let her gaze fall back to Evan. "I wonder what ever happened to them." They sat there in silence for a time, wrapped up in their own thoughts and struggles. "Maybe when Sora finishes the raft, you can find your home again." Evan tried to cheer her up, although he wasn't quite sure he believed what he said. "Maybe," Selphie said autonomously. "I kinda want to be alone right now." She didn't look at Evan, but he could tell she was upset. "Don't worry, it'll be okay." Evan hoped he was right, as he got up to leave. He wasn't sure about leaving her by herself, but he didn't want to upset her anymore. He walked up the coast and laid down on the soft warm sand, letting himself daydream. A jumble of sights and sounds passed before his eyes. He heard faint screaming in the far recesses of his mind. Evan didn't understand what it meant, but it still sent chills racing up and down his spine. He shook the dark images out of his head when he noticed Riku on the small piece of land just off the coast. Riku was sitting on the trunk of a tree that grew at an almost horizontal slant. Evan headed towards him, unprepared for the cold reception that awaited him. "Hey Tidus, have you seen any rope around here?" Sora walked across the large wooden platform, watching Tidus dance back and forth, slashing at the air with his toy sword. "Hey, Sora. Feelin' up to a little competition?" Tidus asked him without missing a beat. He was always full of energy and life. "Sorry, not now Tidus. I have to finish helping Kairi and Riku with the raft." Sora looked around and spotted the rope he needed. He already found the cloth for the sail inside their clubhouse. All he needed now was two logs. "You serious? Come on, be a man! Besides, why would you want to cross the ocean? Sword fights beat that any day!" He did his best to convince Sora to play with him, but it wasn't any use. Sora was to far off in his own little world to really pay him any attention. "Maybe some other time." Sora told the disappointed boy. He turned to rush off so he could find Evan and the other items when he bumped into Wakka. "Hey, take it easy. I get tired watching you run around." Wakka chuckled loudly as he helped Sora back to his feet. "Then again, Tidus is just as bad, ya?" Tidus stopped practicing and turn red in the face. "I am not!" Tidus stated defiantly, stamping his foot and pouting. The other two boys couldn't help but giggle at his obvious embarrassment. "Catch you guys later!" Sora headed down the ladder, leaving them to be by themselves. Wakka strode up to Tidus, smiling suggestively. The younger boy turned around, still pouting. Wakka pulled the reluctant boy close to him, wrapping his arms tightly around Tidus's small waist. Wakka kissed the side of his neck, causing Tidus to moan involuntarily. "We're all alone..." he whispered in the other boy's ear, lightly nibbling on it. Tidus went slack in Wakka's embrace. The blond boy reached his hand behind him, running his fingers through Wakka's fiery orange hair. Tidus tilted his head to the other side, letting the older boy suckle on his flesh. The light sensations coursing through his body were intense and Tidus was loving every minute of it. This is what he enjoyed the most, when they would take their time to make love to each other. Tidus broke free of Wakka's iron-like vice grip. He turned towards the other boy and pulled his shirt off, running his hands all over the smooth body. This would always drive Wakka wild with lust. Tidus's hands were slightly rough from his extended practicing with the wooden toy sword, creating a strange, but intense sensation. Wakka would get goose bumps all over his body and he never wanted the feeling to end. "How about some fresh coconut juice?" Wakka cocked his eyebrow, smiling serenely at Tidus. The other boy chuckled lightly. "I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about." Tidus loved to act coyly, it always seem to make Wakka a little crazy. Wakka grabbed him by the shoulders and lightly pushed him up against the railing. They kissed deeply, letting their tongues wrap around one another, fighting for dominance. Wakka pressed his body into Tidus, letting the other feel how excited he had become. Tidus pulled his shirt off and Wakka went after the exposed flesh. He kissed and licked every inch he could reach, causing Tidus to cry out in pleasure. "...don't stop," Tidus managed between gasps. "Never stop... touching... me." Wakka only moaned in compliance, making the other boy squirm with delight as he teased the sensitive nipples. He nibbled on them, alternating back and forth. Wakka loved tasting his flesh, he enjoyed running his tongue over the erect nipples. It was ecstasy, pure ecstasy for both boys. Wakka hooked his thumbs in Tidus's pants, pulling them down slowly. He revealed to the world just how excited Tidus had become. "I think someone's a little happy to see me." Tidus laughed in spite of himself. "Just a little." He looked into Wakka's eyes deeply, pulling him closer. Wakka didn't resist the action, but welcomed it fully. Tidus's knees buckled and he nearly toppled over from the shear pleasure he was now receiving. It was extremely intense as Wakka worked expertly on him. Nothing in this world could compare to this feeling. Tidus felt his blood boiling, and his whole body convulsed in pleasure. Having done this so many times before, Wakka knew how to work his tongue to drive Tidus over the edge. Tidus stiffened up as the climactic moment drew near. All the sensations and pleasure rushed to a single point on his body. "AAah! Wakka!!" He cried out. His whole body jerked forward, erupting into the kneeling boy. Wakka merely drank in the essence as if it were life. He laid down, pulling Tidus on top of him. Tidus kissed Wakka passionately, feeling the throbbing heat that was pressing against his abdomen. He made his way down Wakka's body, returning the favor. He moved at a much slower pace, trying to give Wakka as much pleasure as humanly possible. The older boy thrashed as he relished in the joy. Wakka let out a deep guttural grunt as his body released all the tensions that had built up. Once Wakka had finished bucking, Tidus laid down next to him. He draped his arm over Wakka's stomach and let his head rest on his chest. Wakka toyed with Tidus's hair as he watched the clouds stroll by. "I love you Tidus." Wakka admitted his feelings to the other boy. It was the first time he had ever said those words to anyone. It was strange how much he had changed. When they first discovered the joys of sex, that's all it was between the two boys, just the sex. But after spending so many intimate encounters together, he couldn't help but love him. Wakka chuckled slightly as he heard the blonde boys light snores. He knew he would do anything for Tidus, even give up his own life to protect him. Evan walked along the wooden bridge, slowing down with every step. Something was dreadfully wrong. He could feel it in the pit of his stomach, like a sickness. He walked up to Riku, not sure of what to expect. "Did you get everything we need for the raft? I gave my stuff to Kairi." Riku didn't even look at Evan, not even realizing it was Evan. "Hey, Sora, how about a quick round? Grab your sword." "Uh... h-hi Riku." Evan stuttered whenever he was nervous, and Riku seemed to make him extremely nervous. Riku looked at the unfamiliar speaker, his eyes going flat upon sighting Evan. "Oh, it's lover boy.". Evan's eyes went wide with that comment. Riku jumped down from the tree, walking past Evan. He didn't look at him directly, but watched him out of the corner of his eye. "You and Sora have been getting rather close lately." "H-he's only been h-h-helping me g-get better." Evan wrapped his arms around him and stared at the ground, hoping it would make him feel less nervous. It didn't work very well though, he could still feel Riku's hawk-like gaze boring into him. "Helping?" Riku repeated Evan's answer coldly. "Is that what you call it." The enraged boy watched the puzzlement form on Evan's face. It only made Riku angrier. He just couldn't think coherently, it was like a haze had settled over Riku's mind. The only thing that made sense was that Sora was his, and Evan was trying to take him away. "W-what do you m-mean." Fear settled into Evan's frail body. He wanted to run, to get as far away from Riku as he could. His memories started to flood his mind, there was another time when he was this afraid. "You know exactly what I mean!" The rage boiling inside Riku broke free from the calm exterior. "You've only been here a day and already you're FUCKING my Sora! Riku's whole body was taunt and shaking with rage. "N-n-no! I... I... I mean, w-w-w-w-we..." Evan couldn't get the words out. Sora didn't want him like that, did he? He looked at Riku, but all he saw was darkness. He realized then what had happened to him. "W-w-w-w-w..." Riku mocked the stuttering boy cruelly. "You gonna get that sentence out sometime this century?" He watched Evan tremble as he regained his composure. Riku was quite satisfied with himself. He managed to thoroughly shake Evan up without having to get his hands dirty. The tears rolled down Evan's face as he remembered. His home, the entire city had been... destroyed. The screaming came back to him now. Men, women and even children, all of their screaming surrounded him as the city burnt down to the ground. Something had attacked them, caught the whole city off guard and was now destroying it. But how did he get away? His mother's face popped into his head. She had managed to get him to safety. But where was she? Did she make it out? Was she still alive? Evan saw Riku coming towards him. It was a strange kind of double vision he was experiencing. Evan watched Riku coming at him and at the same time, watched his home being destroyed all over again. "No tears now lover boy." Riku wiped them off Evan's face, but he didn't seem to notice. "You know, all you are is his latest new toy. Once he's done playing with you, he'll just throw you away." Riku leaned in close to the other boy's ear. "Just... like... me." Riku strolled off, whistling to himself. He was quite happy with the pain he inflicted on Evan. The trembling youth only crumpled to the ground, letting the pain and sorrow wash over him. The sun was starting to set when Sora finally found him. Evan was sitting up against a palm tree, watching the horizon change colors. Sora sat down next to Evan. "Here you are. I already gave the stuff to Kairi, and I've been looking all over for you ever since." The smile faded from Sora's face when he saw Evan. His eyes were bloodshot and puffy and his cheeks were stained with dried tears. "What happened!? Are you okay?" Sora pulled Evan into his arms, rocking him gently but Evan pulled away. "I-it's about Riku." Evan started to say but Sora was quick to interrupt. "Did he do something to you!?" Sora jumped to his feet, ready to rush off and pound his best friend into the ground. Evan grabbed his hand and pulled him back, however. "N-no, Riku didn't do anything." Evan was at a loss for words. Sora pulled Evan up to his feet and wrapped an arm around him. "Let's go home and you can tell me all about it on the way." Evan nodded, allowing Sora to take charge. He felt much better now that Sora was by his side. "So, what's up with Riku?" "Well... I-I don't think he's your friend Sora." It sounded really silly when he said it out loud and Sora gave him a questioning look that said he thought as much. "How can he not be my friend?" Sora didn't understand what he was trying to say. "He was... really mean and..." It didn't sound very convincing and Evan wasn't sure how to explain what he meant. "Well Riku can be a jerk sometimes, but that's just Riku." Sora shrugged and Evan only nodded in response. He didn't dare tell Sora about what he had seen. The dark miasma of shadows that clung to Riku's body. He didn't think Sora would believe him, Evan wasn't entirely sure he believed himself either. They walked along in silence, each of them tied up in their own thoughts. The sun had nearly finished setting by the time they reached home. Neither of them noticed anything was wrong until they stepped inside the house. "What the..." Sora looked around the house. It was in shambles, chairs and tables were over turned or broken. Glass was shattered all over the floor. Evan clutched Sora's hand tightly. "MOM! MOM?! Where are you?!" No answer ever came. Sora started to panic. What the hell happened here he thought to himself. "Evan, go check upstairs, I'm going to check the kitchen." He didn't give Evan time to respond as he gently pushed him towards the stairs. Evan rushed up them and looked into Sora's room. "Patti? Patti?" He called, entering his friend's room. It was a total mess, toys and clothes littered the floor. Sora's room was completely trashed but there was no sign of Patti anywhere. Sora checked the kitchen, pots and pans were scattered everywhere, but his mom wasn't there. He raced back into the main room and down a small corridor that lead to his mother's room. The room was a mess but she wasn't there either. Sora hurried back into the main room, Evan came down the stairs a few moments later. "Did you find her?"
