ChapteR FouR

Justin drove past the security guard. He looked over at me beaming. "I can't believe my boyfriend is working with Janet Jackson."

"I am excited too. How many people get to say they dance with the greatest?" I said in awe as he parked the car. We both got out and looked around.

"Dakota Jamerson?" this lady with a headset asked.

"Yea." I said looking over at her.

"Good come with me and I'll show you to wardrobe." She said walking away.

I turned to Justin, "I'll see you later babe." And blew him a kiss, and then followed the lady.

I walk in to the wardrobe room and the dancers looked up at me. The looks I got were pretty mixed. A few looked pissed, a few looks were pleasant, and two were indifferent. The costume manager came over to me, looked me up and down, she then went to the rack.

"Put this on." She said in a irritated manner.

I took the costume from her and look it over. It was a pair of ripped jeans, a white long sleeve shirt, and a brown t-shirt. I looked around for a dressing room when someone called out to me.

"You wanna be a dancer than you gotta work like one. There's no dressing room, strip down here." One of the dancers who gave me an evil look said.

I looked over and him, "What the hell." I said under my breath. I changed into the outfit and found that it fit pretty snug.

The costume manager came over to me and looked at me for a second. She then took out a pair of scissors and cut the white shirt right below my elbow. Then she looked at me again. "Perfect." Then looked at everyone now. "Ok guys, out to the set."

I followed everyone to a freight elevator and we all boarded. I went over to the corner. I was minding my own business when I noticed someone talking to me.

"Excuse me?" I said.

"You're Dakota Jamerson." He said again. "You were on tour with Justin Timberlake and you're in the band The Dropouts right?" one of the dancers asked.

I was a little nervous, "Yea, that's me." I gave a week smile.

"Oh," he said picking up on my nerves. "You don't have to be nervous now. We thought you were going to take Indy's place, you know as a regular." He said and everyone agreed.

"Oh no." I smiled. "I am just on break with the band and a friend had me audition for this. Of course I didn't know I was auditioning." I explained.

After I said that everyone was friendlier to me. They explained that they had all been dancing together for a while and began to think of each other as family.

"Hey," someone said pointing at me. "I've seen you dance. You're amazing!" the girl said.

"Thanks." I said blushing, looking, and seeing that we hit the right floor.

I looked out over and saw Justin talking to Janet. I knew that the two of them worked together, so I wasn't surprised. They looked like they were having a good time together.

"Come on Dakota." One of the dancers said to me. I followed her and they told us what we had to do. The director was someone I haven't worked with before but he was a nice guy. I was told that he worked with Janet a few times. After the run through of the video we were brought to the dance area.

He told us that we were going to do the dance sequence 4 or 5 time so he could get it from different angles. After he said that, he called Janet over. I looked up at Justin and he gave me thumbs up. I smiled at him.

"Roll playback!" the director called. We heard a beep and then he looked over at us and called action.

The music came over the speakers set up. "This is sick." Janet's voice came blaring out of the speaker. The music started up and I recognized the song immediately. The chorus came up and that was our cue.

5 hours later. After we had the dance sequence down and the opening scene down they decided to let us go. Since the video was fairly simple they didn't need to pull long hours. I went to wardrobe, changed, and then met Justin out by his car.

"That was amazing baby." He said pulling me into his arms and kissing me deeply.

"Wow." A female voice said. We both jumped back and turned to see Janet standing there. "Looks like I am a witness to young love." She smiled her famous smile.

"Um..." Justin tried to think of something but something in my gut told me to trust her.

"Yea, I hope so." I said smiling at her and ignoring the daggers Justin was sending me.

"Hey you guys want to go grab a bit to eat?" she asked us.

I looked over at Justin and though he was a little out of it. He nodded. "Sure." I said to her. I looked over a Justin, he gave me a weak smile, but it was pretty obvious that he was nervous. I smiled at him and he took my hand in his. Janet told us to meet her at a restaurant downtown.

Once we met her there the manager of the place, showed us to a secluded part of the restaurant. I was excited about the evening, how many people get to say that had dinner with the famous one.

"Sorry guys." Janet said coming back from bathroom.

"It's ok." I smiled at her.

She looked over at Justin. "You can breathe Justin. I am not going to out you." She said rubbing his shoulder.

"I know," he said looking over at me. "I just don't want anything to ruin this." He said squeezing my hand.

Her face lit up. "That's amazing." She looked at the both of us. "I have to say I am quite jealous."

I blushed and smiled at Justin. So while dinner was going on, we made small talk about our careers, where we wanted them to head and the such. Janet questioned me about if I wanted to keep my solo career.

"I am not a big fan of the pop genre, but who knows, I am still making money off the first album. The album with the guys is doing as well. Jive is still on my case to do another one." I explained.

"I for one wouldn't mind you doing another one. I own the first one." she smiled at me.

I choked on my drink. "Are you kidding?" I asked in disbelief.

She shook her head. "I think it's amazing."

I unlocked the door to my house and walked in. I was followed by Justin.

"Wow!" he said looking around. "Nice place." He said.

I looked over at him with a smirk. "Stop making fun of my place. I know it's not as big as yours but I call it home. Now be a good boyfriend and close the door." I said walking over to my answering machine.

He closed the door and walked over to me. I smiled to myself as I felt his arms circle my waist. "I was a good boyfriend. Do I get a treat?" he whispered in my ear.

"I'll think about it." I said pushing the button on the machine.

"One new message." The machine said and then a voice I never thought I'd hear again started talking.

"Hey Dakota, it's me Jeff. I know I fucked up big time, but I have to see you. I know you probably don't want to talk to me ever again and I can understand that but I just need to see you one last time." he sighed. "Please call me." then the message ended.

"You ok?" Justin asked me.

"Not sure." I said slipping out of his grasp. "I haven't talked to him since I got the phone call from ... her. I have had no desire to talk to him." I turned to look at Justin, he was trying to say something, but he was struggling with it. "Spit it out J."

"Maybe you should go see him." he said so fast I could barely understand him.

"Why?" I said narrowing my eyes at him.

"For closure, figure out why he did it. So your mistrust doesn't transfer to other relationships, like this one." he said looking at his hands.

I looked at him. I walked up to him and hugged him. "I'll do it, as long you're there." I said looking up at him.

"Why do you want me there?" he asked confused.

"Because I want him to know he's lost his chance and now I am with the hottest man on this planet.

Justin smiled, "You're just so perfect." He said running his finger through my hair.

"Well I try." I smiled at him.

I sat waiting with Justin at a little coffee shop in a suburb of LA. I found this place after the album dropped and I couldn't find a place to listen to myself think. The elderly couple that ran the place could care less about celebrities from this decade and didn't like a lot of noise either. So it was the prefect place for 3 well known pop stars to meet.

"I wish he'd hurry up and get here already." I said fidgeting.

"He'll be here." Justin said flipping through a magazine.

"You mean to tell me that you're not nervous?" I asked him.

He looked up and smiled at me. "Why? You already picked me."

"Cocky bastard." I said under my breath.

"And this is why you're so into me." he said smiling at me as the door to the coffee shop opened.

I looked up to see Jeff walk in. I took a deep breath and Justin looked behind as Jeff came up to our table.

"Hi Dakota." He said nervously looking at Justin.

"Hi Jeff, have a seat." I said pointing to the free seat.

He took the seat and again looked at Justin. "I was hoping we could talk privately."

"No dice." Justin said before I could answer.

"You're here to make your peace. Not try and win me back." I explained.

"But D, let me explain." He pleaded.

I started to open my mouth when I heard Justin humming a song. I couldn't place it so I decided to ignore it. "What is there to explain? You were married, yet you kept telling me that we were going to be together. That you loved me." I said.

"You told me you loved me, but why did you leave me all alone." Justin sang.

Jeff and I both looked at him, but he didn't look up from the magazine he was reading.

"I do love you and I need you back with me."

"Why because your wife is gone?" I spat out.

"Now you tell me you need me, and you call me on the phone." Justin sang.

"You wanna cut that out?" Jeff said getting angry with him.

"So what could you possibly say to make me come back?" I said with a smug smile on my face.

"All I can is that truly love you and this time would be different." Jeff said his voice soft and sweet. It was then that I knew that this boy is used to getting everything he wanted.

"No." I said standing.

"Your bridges go burn, now your turn to cry." Justin sang, he smiled at me and took my hand. "So cry me a river." He sang at the top of his lungs as we left the coffee shop.

"You're a fucking nut." I said as we came to a stop at a red-light.

He looked over at me. "I didn't want you to change your mind; I was serious about what I said. I don't want this to end." He said taking my hand.

"I'm not going anywhere Justin." I said.

"Shhhh! Guys!" I said as I sat in my living room with the rest of my band mates. "It's coming on!" I said grabbing the remote and turning it up.

"And our TRL debut for the day at number is the Dropouts `Last Song'." Carson Daliy said.

"I hate that muthafucker." Ian, our drummer, said.

"Don't worry about it. Everyone hates him." I said.

"Oh yea, that's right Kota is spending a lot of time with a veteran TRL-er." Jason said.

Our video was forgotten and all attention was on me. I shot Jason a death stare.

"Who is it? Are you back together with Jeff?" Ian asked.

"No, it's not him, it's uh." Erik thought to himself. "It's JC from *Nysnc. He looked like a big old Mo." Erik said.

I laughed. "No it's not him and you guys should stop worrying about my love life." I said.

They laughed for a second and then turned to Jason. "Justin Timberlake." He said.

I threw a pillow at him. "Fuck you! You never keep a secret." I laughed.

"You're shitting us right?" Ian said.

"No." I said coyly.

"Damnit!" Erik said. "It's no far he gets all these high profile romances and we get these ugly groupies." He smiled at me.

I smiled at him. "Maybe it's because you're ugly too." I said taking off running and I heard him start chasing me.

So there's the chapter... I hope you guys like it. Shots out to Monkeyboy and to Assthehead2003 for being my new editor. Oh and another thing. While I am pretty comfortable with my story writing skills, I am not with my song writing skills. So all the songs used by the "Dropouts" are going to be All American Reject songs, so yea, I figured I'd put that out there. All comments go to Craigger02@comcast.net.
