That is not is sole purpose and yes I do hope the sex sense makes you all hard and gets you off. Sol is an adaption from my childhood favorite show Captain Planet and the Planeteers, The cartoon showed us that the world can be a better place if we took a few moments to care for it. Tales of Sol is meant to express hope. It is also shows how music can have an impact in our lives. While I don't know if my favorite bands 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys or Nsync have ever read this. They saw me through some of the hardest moments of my life and offered in their own way hope. To them I say thank you. I dedicate the Tales of Sol to all of my brothers and sisters of the US armed service past, present, and future. I like to thank my friends who I had the privilege showing these chapters with. They helped with editing and inspiration, John Rivera, Albert-Russ Alan Rivera-Odum, Derbe.D. Hunte Yvette Ortiz Samuel Diaz Jr for all their help in Making The Tales of Sol an enjoyable story to write. And I have a few other names starting with the beginner of this universe. James the author of Tales of a Real Dark Knight. I still hope to reconnect with you dear friend and all the rest of this series. Blake the author of Tales of a New Phoenix Jeremi author of the Tales of Young Mutants To understand what is happening in the next couple of chapters read Tales of a Real Dark Knight they came from James. If are reading James I hope you like my take on your story. The Tales of Sol 64 There and Back again The flight was uneventful BEATTI informed me that the plane with Brian and the rest was still on course and will be in Orlando on time and landing in a few hours. My flight was just as peaceful. I will admit that leaving New York was a great relief. The imprint from 9/11 plus my own trauma made it hard on my psyche. It wasn't until in the distant I could make out Liberties One and Two that I finally allowed myself to smile "I am home." I said satisfactorily my mission was complete and I was returning differently and stronger. I sighed "There is but one more thing I have to do when I get back," I was resigned to the decision I had come too. "BEATTI do me a favor Liberties One and Two maximum magnification," I requested the multi-color display showing my city and changed to zoom in on my towers. I smiled and I encircled them. "Send this image to the Lair," I requested as I slowly circled the area from where we were when I made a 360 turn around the outskirts of the city and suburbs. I knew I had to return to the Lair. As I made my final approach to the Lair. I could make out the large hangar windows as the sun reflected off of them. It really looked as if the Earth swallowed most of the hangar leaving just the windows exposed. Everything else was covered in dirt and grass. I had other plans for the Lair but what I saw was a vast improvement from when I first came to the hidden base. I made several adjustments to my protective system to mask my chopper from surrounding radar and surveillance to further hide the Lair from others. I also had to send the choppers IFF or my own systems will see the Sea Dragon as a threat and take steps to stop us. "Okay we are done, I really need to land this bird," I said as I saw the Lair's helipad had been raised. I brought the Sea Dragon down and the chopper lazily came to rest on her pad. I felt a jolt as the helipad began to lower itself below the surface. Just as I began to power down all of the Sea Dragons systems. As the rotors dipped beneath a massive door began to move on its topped grass, the slow motion of the door barely disturbing the grass. Natural light began to fade as the door slid across when it came to rest. No one would suspect that beneath this hill load a sunken aircraft hangar and a nuclear missile silo combo. The lift came to rest at the bottom of what once was the missile silo. By the time I had shut down the last system the lift came to a stop. I stepped out of the Sea Dragon and after doing a check on her systems and structural components. This was the last flight of the Sea Dragon until after I made several modifications to her which include removing her gas engines and installing a solar powered battery system and adding holographic emitters that the solar power will help power. These are just but one of the few modifications I am going to make to the Sea Dragon and I made my way to the Command Center where my mentor awaited me. He gave me a quick hug asking about my flight home and if I brought him anything, followed by how I felt after receiving Sol. I was able to answer most of his questions telling him everything that happened. I told Dave of the Deeper Well, Atlantis, and most of the phenomenons that happened here on our planet. "So how are the guys?" Dave asked "They are dealing with a massive trauma thanks to a psychologist and his cure for homosexuality," I told him "A cure for homosexuality?" Dave's eyes almost shot out of his socket "Isn't the first time," I spoke up "Yes I know and it makes my stomach ill knowing that people with such intelligence can use it to harm others," Dave sneered "Tell me about and what I felt from Nick I wanted to show Dr Israel what the Earth is capable of," I confessed "How are they doing?" Dave asked was concerned "They are all dealing with it in their own way," I sighed "How were they doing it before you showed up?" Dave asked, giving me a knowing look. "They were blaming each other," I sighed. "But how could they?" Dave asked. "Nick took the brunt of it with being the test subject of that asshole," I nearly sneered "Yeah no one deserves what he went through," Dave agreed "And Howie felt responsible since he introduced Nick to Dr Israel in the first place," I informed "Really," Dave was in shock "Yeah Howie was having trouble dealing Nick coming out and he must of talked to Dr. Israel and he told Howie that he could cure Nick," I told Dave I saw the disapproval look in Dave's eyes "What about the rest?" He finally asked "They all feel like the just sat back and watched it happen," I told him "Which didn't help Nick who wasn't in the best shape," Dave put two and two together "It was worst then that Dave," I stated "How so?" Dave asked "The more they blamed themselves the worse Nick felt. Which made him even more ashamed of himself for bringing them into his troubles, which made the guys feel even worse and that creates and even vicious circle of blame and shame," I told him "And at some point something has to give way," Dave saw where I was going. "Yes and it would have been disastrous," I stated "Mike with your healing powers you could help cure most disease," Dave commented "I do have the power to do just that," I nodded in agreement "But you won't," Dave knew the answer before I had to say it "I can't," I responded "What does this mean for you and Brian?" Dave asked "Brian asked me the same question," I told him "And?" Dave quizzed "We are stuck together," I smiled lovingly "That is good to hear but doesn't trouble you that you might out live Brian?" Dave asked "That is a probability every relationship must admit to," I countered "Yes, but in your case it's different. You could easily outlive humans by a millennium or two," Dave countered my counter. "Or I could be killed in an nuclear explosion," I told him "But the chances of that is twenty-to-one," Dave redirected "Either way I am not worried," I stated "That is all I need to hear," Dave smiled I took a deep breath "Dave there is something we need to talk about," Dave leaned in "While I was helping them unburden their hearts, from this traumatic moment," "They, that is, Brian turned the tables on me," I sighed "Mike Jake told me," Dave said softly. "No you need to hear it from me," I was going to say this. "Dave I didn't just leave the Navy I ran from it," I sighed "Mike you don't have to," He tried to tell me what I had to say was not necessary "You had asked me once why I was so cold why I couldn't let anyone in," I stated I was trying to use some bravado but it was not helping "Dave there was a reason I didn't want to go to New York and there was a reason Gaia wanted me to go," I screwed up every emotion I had. Dave just sat there letting this off my chest. He was the father figure I had always needed in my life. "We had just pulled out of Singapore," I started "The Carol Vinson was wrapping up her week-long visit to the city. We were all ready and set to get on to our next location," I reminisced I was smiling as I went. "I had gone to bed the ship's own rocking and rolling was putting me to sleep," I smiled as tears began to come forward "When the captain called over the 5mc his words 'prepare the flight deck for heavy weather'" my mind went to that moment Dave just sat there not saying a word "I had thought a storm was approaching the ship." "The news of the World Trade Centers being struck by planes was dismissed as some accident that often happened in New York," I stated as it was something we heard time and time again I got up and want to the mess hall's flag I made sure that I had the lights changes so it wouldn't get damaged "I swore upon this Dave," I gently took hold of the nation's flag. "I took that solemn vow and when I heard reports that planes had crashed into the World Trade Center," I snarled there at the end "How did I respond to those reports?" I snapped "I thought oh well it happens hell they have been struck hundreds of time before," I snapped Dave came by my side "Mike you were out at sea, you were experiencing the seas and all that was going on," "You didn't know all you heard was normal ship operations," Dave reassured "Hell I heard such things and I too thought nothing of it," Dave told me "Dave I still see them," I lowered my head looking down at the fabric of the flag "In my dreams in every silent moment they return," "So do we all we must never forget," Dave told me "I take my duty to protect Philadelphia so serious because of how close I had come to losing it," I spoke again running my hands over the flag "You know what really gets me Dave?" I finally said My mentor shook his head "Gregg and I were sitting in his attic and we were talking about my time in the Navy just before they came for me and you know what I told Gregg," "I told him that I would be going to war I never even set foot in boot camp but I knew even before it happened that I knew I was going to be in conflict," I stated "Mike I am not hearing anything that says any of this was your fault or responsibility," Dave held my shoulder "Mike the greatest minds in the US, the top brass and generals missed this, how was a lowly seamen fresh out of boot camp on his first tour out at sea," Dave said gently "How were you even remotely going to think missed something of this nature," "I will not nor will I ever say those feelings are something you can ever just wipe away," Dave said sincerity "You weren't expected to even think that not even I am sure from you own squadron's commanding officer to think at that level," Dave consoled "And I want to say you did not fail your sacred duty to this," Dave pointed to the flag "In fact I'd say you upheld those ideals that make this country so special," "Dave I had failed my charge, they put my trust in me and I failed them," I finally collapsed into a ball again Dave was by my side again. "No you didn't I say that exact opposite you were where your nation need you," Dave reaffirmed "Fate had moved you so that when those terrorist struck us you and your ship were ready to respond," Dave gestured to the flag again "You were there when this flag needed you the most," "In this nation's darkest hour when we were all trying to think and feel," Dave said bringing me back to my feet "We turned to you our nation's finest to be our beacon of hope," Dave pulled me into a hug "I know those images will never leave you trauma like that will always hang over you, I haven't met a veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who didn't feel those very feeling that make up your every waking moment," Dave hugged me again "I am very proud that you found the courage to tell me and I am happy you finally opened up," Dave comforted "And I will tell you this city couldn't ask for a better guardian then the one who has already stepped up when it needed you the most," "I will admit on thing Dave it has a great relief to finally let that go," I confessed "I know and I am very proud," Dave squeezed my shoulder I snorted "You are going to hate me," "Why is that?" Dave looked a little worried "Oh I have several projects that require a new shopping list," I answered. I brought us back to the table and showed him the pad I was writing on while we were eating and chatting. Dave took with a mock scared expression but as he read the list of improvements I had for not just the Sea Dragon but the Lair, "Mike this is incredible are you sure we can do all this?" Dave gasped "Not all at once obviously but the Sea Dragon and my Guardian are the first things I want to tackle," I responded taking the pad from him "What changes do you want to make to your Guardian's Costume?" Dave asked Lifting my shirt and pointing to the globe on my chest "It is high time I honor fallen heroes who gave their lives trying to make our world a better place," I saw an understanding on Dave. "Have you ever found out how they were lost?" Dave wondered "Sadly no the only thing I know for sure is that Elizar was involved and he was added by a timeless vampire ," I huffed in frustration "You will find out," Dave reassured "Why don't we begin those improvements?" Dave suggested as he moved to the door "I like that," I followed behind We made our way to the helipad and attacked the Sea Dragon going over every square inch to find out what we needed to do for the conversion and additional installation planned for it. While Dave and I were rebuilding the Lair, the guys finally landed in Orlando. They were met by their family who all hugged them and thanked God for seeing fit that they were alive. Tony and the rest of their management team were there also showing much appreciation of them being rescued. They all made sure to thank Sol for his timely rescue. When they finally arrived at their hotel. "Yeah Brian I will be right out," Howie said as he went into his room. "So you finally arrived," the voice snickered "Ugh this is the last thing I need," Howie huffed "But, Howie my sweet, we were just becoming friends" The Voice snickered "What do you want?" Howie demanded "Now, now is that any way a minion talks to his master?" The Snickering Voice asked "What do you want Hades?" Howie demanded once again Before him Hades appeared and like all Greek Gods he was extremely attractive with thick wavy hair, broad shoulders and bulging biceps "Why, Howie babe can't, I check up on you I mean I've been worried about you," Hades smirked "Oh I am sure you were worried," Howie huffed "I was I have stock in your soul, if Satan got his hands on it then I would have been very upset," Hades stated "What do you want Hades?" Howie demanded again "Well there is a very big event coming up and I don't want a certain friend of yours to be there," Hades told Howie "What event would that be?" Howie asked "Well it has to do with the planets aligning," Hades answered "Why would the planets aligning be such a big deal?" Howie asked "Let's just say that it will be the best time to buy real estate for everything will be rock bottom cheap," Hades smiled evilly with that he left Howie sighed wondering what it was he had gotten himself into when he first met Hades. As Sol I was once again hovering over the Atlantic Ocean but for a very different reason, "I feel the need to recycle," I said as I flew in a circle above the ocean. Deep below the water surface all of the metal fragments of past ships and others began to lift. They all flew up and into my whirlwind. When I was sure I had enough I brought it to a remote island. As scraps of metal settle I said, "I have a sudden need to burn," as my whole body lit up fly over the pile of rubble they began to melt down, directing the flow of molten metal until I had a shape that stood 150 feet high and was 20 feet wide and 200 feet long. I flew over the ocean again and spun in a circle attracting all the glass that resided on the ocean floor. As ocean water shot out and cooled down the hollowed out version of an aircraft carrier's island. I melted the glass forming windows and placed them around where the bridge would have resided. "Not bad for an amateur," I admired my own work, then I flew it back to the Lair while Dave, and Jake were at work Dana and Blaylock were also out. I placed the island on the ground. Right next to the newest addition to the Lair, holding my hand out the whole Island began to slowly sink. The two walls, the Island and the hangar's slightly grind together forming a seal between them. I continued to sink the Island until where the Bridge would have been was only sticking out of the ground. Sitting a good foot above the large bay windows. There was still a good 20 feet sticking out of the ground including a new view above ground. I flew through the Island's door then I knocked down walls that separated the Island from the hangar making the two additions to further merge. I opened up several rooms. I gave the Command Center an upper level and a whole section dedicated to weather and other natural phenomenons which included a large screen that would hold radar images and keep records of all weather related information. Dave came back in the subway with several components I needed to complete the hydroelectric generators and turbines. I quickly went to work in completing it. Once I had everything in place including the power lines I removed the dirt blocking the pond and water soon flowed to the pit created by the removal of the hangar. It would take nature a little time to turn it into a second pond but the water flow will generate the power of the Lair. It didn't take long for the Radar to begin spinning as the Lair received power. This was just the beginning. There was still the Sea Dragon awaiting me in the maintenance bay. The next order of business was me making some adjustments to the geothermal pit Dave's people had made for the Lair. They did a decent job but they just couldn't go as far as I could. I had plugged up the water just long enough so I could get the pit much closer to a magma layer. And add several new vents to better carry away the steam. I placed several of my turbines into the geothermal shaft mainly replacing what Dave already had in place. This will augment the hydro turbine and provide additional power to the Lair, The pit will also provide us with fresh water purified. Dave already had much of this added to the Lair but now we can do more by providing the staterooms with showers. The added vent shafts will have later purposes but for now it drew much of the heat away from the Lair bringing our temperature down several degrees while keeping us sufficiently warm. The turbine that I've designed worked in many different applications which thankfully while I was away in New York Dave had several of them made, many of which he was going to use to replace the ones he was currently using for his geothermal pits. with the additions I have added and the ones that I will. Having both will keep from putting too much pressure on them. Once I was finished with my burrowing I released the water and soon the Lair was being powered by the heat of the Earth's core. While I was busy with the geothermal pit Jake was busy with the Sea Dragon stripping it of several components and engine housing so we can remove its jet fuel powered engines with more energy efficient solar powered ones. Gaia sent us the Eco-copter and Geo Cruiser so I could study their makeup. I plan to add them to our list of transportation as well. But for now I had BEATTI analyze both of them so we could use them to make the CH-53C's new engines. Dave was busy making arrangements on acquiring the parts we needed to complete the various projects. Jake while waiting for the parts for the Sea Dragon also took the task of adding a globe similar to the one the Planeteers wore on their clothes to my Guardian costume when I tried it on. It really stood out and made me tear up. We were honoring them by continuing their work. And I will help do all I could to make sure that Guardian not only fought demons of the night but human greed and destruction too. When I was satisfied with the improvements I made to the new geo pit I took a few minutes to rest then moved to help Jake with the Sea Dragon. Dave would come and go with the parts I added holographic emitters to the fuselage of the Sea Dragon. a new paint scheme was added so that the Planeteer Emblem which will also serve as the Sea Dragon's solar array. Gaia sent me the Eco-copter, and Geocruiser so I could study their makeup. I plan to add them to our list of transportation. The work was tedious with a lot of swearing rewiring the inside of a Sea Dragon was a monumental job on its own. After swearing up a storm that Jake commented could he heard all the way to the Command Center and Dave ordering me to the Holo-Room. I went into the weapon's locker and picked out the Bat'Leth and went to the Holo-Room "Okay BEATTI training mode 8-1-9," I said before me Lt Commander Worf appeared with a Bat'Leth in hand. "What can I do Mr. Pennock?" He asked "Defend yourself!" I said as I charged him he brought up his Bat'Leth, as did I. The sound of metal striking metal rang through out the Holo-Room. "Very Good" Mr. Worf commented. "Thank you Mr. Worf '' I replied as our Bat'Leths clashed together. "Do not drop your left arm like that." Worf instructed following his advice I noticed that my strikes got stronger and my defenses held longer. Swinging the crescent blade around it clashed with Worf's weapon and he was pushed back several inches "Don't underestimate me," I said as I brought my left arm around, knocking Worf off his center of balance. "Very Good Mr. Pennock, just don't get cocky," he said as brought his sword up with enough strength to make me lose grip on mine he finished the move by grabbing my ankles knocking them out from underneath me and set me flying backwards and onto the holographic ground I just laid there laughing, "I guess I earned that one." Worf helped me back to my feet and then went back to practicing at least until I had to patrol. In the middle of the research BEATTI interrupted by saying "Sir I have an incoming call from Gregg," BEATTI reported I smiled. I quickly left for home. I haven't heard from him since I got back. I soon got a ping from the Mother, Gregg was needed in this conflict. "Get the Holo-Room ready, we are about to get a new recruit here in a wee bit," I said as I headed for the exit. A few moments later BEATTI informed me that Gregg was at the door. Opening it I found my dearest friend in the world standing on the other side. "Gregg, how is it going for you at work?" I asked He was smiling "They are going great, Krystal is at her grandmothers," I smiled warmly "I am very glad," Gregg looked at me "Mike what happened to you?" "I don't know what you mean," I gave him a weary glance "Mike I have known you too long, something has changed I can see it," Gregg pointed out I smiled, of all the people, who could read me. It was my dearest friend. "Gregg I have a confession to make," I pulled out the morning paper of me as the Guardian. It was the story of how I rescued thousands of children from the mad Pie Piper. "This is me," I confessed Gregg looked at the photo and smirked "I knew it was," I was taken aback, "How I never told you," "Let's see some lone nut job tries to kidnap children, and my daughter is saved from by my best friend," Gregg smirked confidently "I wasn't born yesterday, word had gotten around at the plant about how Jared had gotten fired for attacking Dave, only to be rehired after the poor man's sister is save from that same nut job," Gregg stated "I know you too well Mike, you were involved in it all. You told Krystal if she was ever endangered she was to come here," Gregg kept going I was still shocked "You know me to well," I finally laughed "So how are things with you and Jeff?" Gregg asked This made me fall back into my couch that was all my dear friend needed, "You two broke up," I sighed, "Gregg I know you think by beliefs in the Earth are a touch crazy," Gregg shook his head, "It was not my place to judge your belief system," I turned to Gregg, "She made herself known to me Gregg," Gregg was taken back, "I don't understand," I regaled Gregg on my adventures before the Pie Piper, and what happened afterwards. I saw the astonishment in Gregg's expression. "After I rescued my shipmate from the vampire that killed the Planeteers, Gaia told me that Jeff and I were not meant to be," I did my best to explain. Then I went on to tell him about what happened afterwards. Gregg smiled, "So you and Brian Littrell are together," "The Earth herself let me know that we were meant for each other," I answered This made Gregg smile even brighter, when I told him about New York, about Devin and how I got between the abusive boyfriend and Brian. I saw the compassion Gregg had for Brian knowing he had to endure such abuse. Knowing I was there for Brian really made Gregg happy. That was when I got to my underwater rescue, "Gregg there was no way for me to save them, my powers as strong as they were. Couldn't lift that plane from its watery situation," Gregg gasped, "What happened, I am not surprised you took that plunge even knowing the outcome," I smiled "That is where the Earth comes in," I told him how my faith in the Earth, my love for Brian and the Backstreet Boys all played a part in giving raise to the rebirth of Earth's Champion. Gregg was in awe, "Mike are you telling me that you are now Captain Planet?" "Well I am Sol," I corrected "I am the fusion of Mike Pennock and last spark of Captain Planet," "That is incredible," Gregg was astonished. Then I turned Gregg, "I can't do this alone Gregg I need your help," That made my friend stammer, "Mine but you are the closest a person will ever get to being a God, what do you need me for?" "Gregg, Captain Planet couldn't do what he did alone he had five ordinary kids who would travel the world tackling, problems that most wouldn't even dare to do," I reminded him "Mike I am not a Planeteer I can't leave to battle ecovillians," Gregg stammered again I shook my head, "You wouldn't have to, just being by my side in the Lair helping me to prioritize the troubles that will come our way is more than enough," "Think about Krystal," I told Gregg "She deserves a world where the skies are blue and not smoggy," Gregg shook his head, "Absolutely she deserves a world where she doesn't have to worry about the water she drinks," "Gregg I can't force you, this is about choices and free will," I reminded my friend Gregg looked at me, "From what I gathered you weren't asked if you even wanted to be Captain Planet's keeper so I don't know how I can even think of free will there," I looked down at the papers that still had my image on it, "Gregg I will confess I don't even know why I was chosen, but now that I have been enlisted by the Earth to defend her and her children," "I know why the Earth chose you Mike, you have told me time about your faith in our world and she has placed her faith in you," Gregg countered with compassion. "Come to the Lair with me Gregg and if you chose to leave I will not stop you, all I will say is," I goaded "It is I, not the Earth who needs my best friend in a task that I know you are more than capable of doing," I requested "I want see this place not to join but to see what you have been up to," Gregg agreed enthusiastically I took Gregg to my hidden transport to the Lair. Gregg mused, "Did a little decorating I see," "If there is ever a reason do not hesitate to bring Krystal down here and bring her to the Lair she will be safe there," I firmly "I will think about it," Gregg thought it over "Oh Gregg say hello to BEATTI," I introduced "Hello Mr Coven," my computer spoke through the subway car's intercom. Gregg laughed "Hello BEATTI I hear you drive my best friend crazy," "It is in job description of assistants," BEATTI remarked "I don't doubt that as I know Mike drives Dave crazy too," Gregg laughed. From there we left for the Lair talking about my many adventures to date. And this is where I end this chapter. I hope you all enjoy this as much I do writing it. Sol is now born and the adventure goes on.
