Date: Mon, 3 Feb 2003 12:14:37 -0800 (PST) From: Adam Subject: Teenage Justice League - Chapter 12 The characters of Lois Lane and Wonderwoman are all trademarks of DC Comics. The same goes for any characters that may be mentioned, even if they are not alive. As for the new version of the Justice League...besides the name of Nightwing are all my own creation, with the exception of Virtue, which comes from my friend, Seraph. I'm really sorry for the delay between chapters, and I apology again for how short this chapter was, I just really haven't had the time to get back into writing. I've been busy with school, work and just other things, so I apologies for not writing, and I'm not sure when I will be writing again, it will probably be another long break in between just like this. But I apologies again, and I hope the next one will be out a little bit sooner. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Teenage Justice League Chapter 12 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adam wanted to stay awake and try and listen to what his friends were going to be talking about, but he was soon back to sleep as Virtue followed Cody into the meeting room and the others behnid him. They all sat down as Virtue took the floor, unnerved by the eyes that focused on him from every seat in the room. "Since most of you don't officially know me, although I know you are aware of me, I am Virtue. I'm pretty sure that your probably unsure of what I mean to you, and you probably don't really trust me very well, as I seem to appear when bad things are happening, and disappear just as quickly. but I assure you, I am not here to hurt any of you, it just seems by circumstance that I show up in such situations." Virtue began, wanting to start off with at least that said. The eyes in the room continued to stare at him, and he got the sudden feeling that Pyro was ready to shoot flames at him, he pushed the thought to the back of his head, instead focusing on Lois, who seemed to be quite receptive to his words. That would at least make it easier to talk. "That first time you saw me, I was watching you all, not to damage, but to be of assistance if you needed it. I did not do anything to harm any of you, instead I was there in the knick of time to save Adam, and help you capture Jessie and Kendral. As I have been watching you for a while now. To be honest, I only wish to help you, I'm sure you didn't know this, but it is in my family lineage to be of service to the Justice League. I know that Adam is aware of this and possibly Superboy, but the rest of you are probably unaware that I am the brother of your Hawkgirl." The teenagers still lost no eye contact with the man, although their frame of mind was slowly slipping away from untrusting to tentative. "My point is that I have just been here to observe you, and by no means to I want to intrude on your group. I only wish to help, and today I was out looking for Adam, so that we could have another talk as we have done now a few times, when I sensed that he was in trouble. I could see Kendral attacking him and by the time I got there, it had already happened." Virtue was stopped at this point by Jasmine's voice. "What was going on, and what happened?" The others shook their heads in agreement that they too wanted to know the answer to this question. "I believe that Kendral's wish was to rape Adam, however, as I said, by the time I got there it had already happened, the it I am referring to is that I believe Adam used his mind to move a rock and throw it at Kendral. Which at least startled him enough to send him running, however, it also knocked Adam out, and seems to have completely drained him of all energy. I can't be sure, although I have speculated, that Adam has any powers behind his mind reading. But I believe that he may be able to move things with his mind, and possibly even communicate without words if he develops his powers. Or I could just be wrong and an innocent bystander could have hurled the rock, but I assure you, I saw no one in the area." The room remained silent, Cody was the most visibly torn by the comments. He looked across the table at his friends, and then to the ones sitting next to him, then to his mother, but he still looked unsure of what to say, or how to handle the situation. Finally he seemd to be looking through the walls, down towards the medical ward. He was actually looking at Adam, trying to think of what to say. Finally he stood. "I want to thank you Virtue, for helping us out these past few times. I also want to thank you personally for saving Adam, I'm sure you know how much that means to us, and to me even more. If Adam does have powers I am sure that he will want to learn to use them, and I am sure that we will help him try to gain access to them. But right now, our main worry is to find Jessie and Kendral, if you are willing to help us, we would surely appriciate it." Cody extended a hand, waiting for a returned gesture, or even just for a word from Virtue. Virtue took a moment to think, he was not to be a part of the Justice League. He and Diane had agreed that he should just observe and watch out for them, and he truly did not want to work with others so often as they all did. But here he was with an offer he could hardly refuse in front of so many, nor do so in any way without causing an amount of hurt and distrust to be formed. "I am willing to help you, but I am will remain Earth watching as I have done, you will be able to reach me when you need me." Virtue replied, extending his hand and taking Cody's with a shake. "But now I msut head back down, if one of you could please fly me down I would appriciate it." Jasmine offered to fly him down while the others remained in the room. As soon as they heard the doors shutting and the noise of their space pod flying off the room was filled with multiple conversations and comments at once. Cody could understand none of them, and was hard to even pick out the loudest of words. "ONE AT A TIME." He finally screamed to silence the room. "Why did you let Jasmine take him back alone, I still don't think we can trust him." Pyro replied in anger. "He has showed us that he is trustworthy twice now. He helped us defeat Jessie, and he saved Adam from Kendral today. Jasmine is fully capable of taking care of herself, and I don't think we have any worry with Virtue." Cody replied in response. "We helped ourselves that day, and as for today, he said so himself, Adam beat that punk." Pyro countered, he didn't want to lose this fight. He just didn't trust Virtue at all. "If Virtue had not been there we don't know what would have happened to Adam after he was unconcious." Tiger butted in, defending Virtue alongside Cody. "How do we know that Virtue didn't knock him out?' Pyro replied, seemingly the only one on the side against Virtue. The others were now scrambling out of the room, not wanting to be caught up in the arguement. Lois remained with the three teenagers, watching them, and hoping that they could work the simply fight out. "I understand where you are coming from Pyro. In the future we can be more careful around Virtue, but for now we have to trust him, because he gives us no reason not to. We can discuss this later, but for now I think we should all just go to our rooms and cool down." Cody finished and waited for Pyro to say something, for him to react in any way. When he walked out of the room without another word, Cody sighed in relief as Tiger and Lois exited too. Meanwhile, another meeting was just beginning. Kendral walked through the small warehouse that he had managed to find, Jessie was sulking, he still hadn't convinced her that they would right the death of her uncle. On the other hand, her brother, Jack was too eager to do anything, he followed Kendrall around, asking annoying questions making stupid comments. He showed no signs of being upset with the death of his uncle, that was the only thing that Kendral found good about him. Kendral finally pushed him down into a seat by his sister and managed to get him to remain still so that he could talk. "I'm sorry about your uncle, but now we can do something about it. The Justice League has held us down twice now, they have killed our mentor, and now it is up to us to decide if we shall live or die in the same way. Jessie, I know you can make us weapons, and Jack, with some training and insight I think you might be able to do something, although I'm not sure what yet." Kendral replied with a smile as Jack frowned. "We will destroy them, and I have the perfect plan." Jessie replied, perking up from her seat. Her face was stained with tears, but it also was twisted in an evil grin. "I want you two to go out and find me all the metal you can, I'll need a lot of this if it is to work. " Kendral stared at her in disbelief, he had rescued her, he was in charge this time around. "Don't start making plans and orders just yet Jessie, you aren't in charge, no, you failed once, it is my turn to lead us to victory." Kendral replied in anger, walking over to her, but he was met with Jessie quickly in his own face. Jack stood up just as quick, standing beside his sister, although it was obvious that they could not have beat him, Kendral knew he could not have a dissolved group. "I will lead this group Kendral, or I will walk away from you. I am indebted to you for rescuing me and my brother, but I ensure you that I will not hesitate to move on. Go and get me all the metal you can find and I will promise that when I am done with my idea we will have the power to defeat the Justice League." Jessie replied. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked the chapter please send me mail telling me so.
