He was startled out of his half sleep stupor when the meeting bell went off. He wasn't going to miss this one, jumping to his feet he rushed out of the room and down the hall. He followed Pyro into the room and found a seat next to Cody. Cody smiled at him and then turned his attention towards Green Lantern. "Glad to see every one here." Green Lantern started, and all eyes were cast upon Adam. He wanted to say something in his defense, but Green Lantern moved on quickly. "Anyways, Superboy and I just got back from Starr Labs, and the news we learned from some of the witnesses isn't good. Cody, why don't you brief them on it." Cody smiled and stood up, looking around the room for a focus point. He hated talking in front of the group, because it was like they expected something great from them, and they were about to get bad news. "Jessie has some friends now, at least five, although a few of the witnesses said they saw six. But we have it confirmed by them all that they're were six of them, and they said that the group was well organized. Apparently Jessie's been busy this last day, working hard to get what she wanted. The witnesses confirmed that the woman in charge was dressed in a female business suit, which means Jessie is taking after her uncle's style. Their was also a tall, strong black boy, the guards said he was strong and well built. Their were also two smaller teenagers, both of their genes were spliced." "Like mine?" Tiger jumped in, unable to wait to see what Cody would finish with. "Are they spliced like me?" "No, they aren't as far off as you are. But the guards said they were definelty powerful, one was furry, but none of them were able to get a good descritption of what he might be spliced with. Green Lantern and I deciphered that it would probably be a bear or a lion. The other was a rhino, that was clear from all the guards. He was also the one breaking through the building." Cody replied to her. "How young did they look? You said smaller teenagers, are we talking about kids?" Lois asked, speaking up from her seat. "We don't know, but the guards described the other two with the group as a black girl and a white boy, both were dressed in matching outfits. They were the ones with the weapons, along with Jessie of course. The other three guys got no weapons, so we know that we are dealing with only three weapons, and the only ones reported missing were an electrical shock rod, a freeze gun, and a high powered laser gun, which was empty when stolen. The guards outnumbered them and didn't stand a chance." Cody replied with a frown on his face. "They killed two guards with the freeze gun, they're well trained and Jessie didn't have enough time to do that much with them. These kids are dangerous, and we aren't even sure what the deal is with the one guy, the guards were unable to say if he possessed anything supernatural in power or skill. As far as we know we are dealing with a bunch of street kids with weapons, a really strong kid, and two spliced minors. We won't have it easy, but you can easily beat that." Green Lantern jumped in to the conversation, cutting Cody off. Cody took a seat, not very upset that it had happened. He was tired of explaining anyways. "We can't fight kids though...I mean, little kids. How could we hit some one young?" Tiger replied, referring to the two spliced children, as had been described by the guards and now by Green Lantern and Cody. "Yeah we can, just like we hit an adult." Pyro replied with a smirk. "Not funny." Tiger replied. "Both of you, that's enough. We will hit them if it comes to it." Green Lantern replied. "Now I want you all to work on a plan of some sorts. Jessie wants us to find her, she left it clear enough to us that she isn't hiding. So we have time to work out a good strategy for an open fight. She isn't hold up some where, she's in an open field type area near a bridge. So the fighting will be in the open, which means you will all have to be careful to the public. I'll call another meeting in a little while and we can discuss possible plans." Green Lantern dismissed them to their rooms or where ever they wanted to go to discuss. Adam and Cody started to leave, but were stopped by Green Lantern when the door shut on them. Lois remained in the room as well, now standing beside him. Adam and Cody walked back and took a seat, knowing that they were going to get a talking to. "You missed the meeting this morning Adam. Cody said you needed your rest and for me to just drop it. He was pretty intent on making me back down. So, I did, but now I need to know...why did you need your sleep?" Green Lantern asked with a face showing signs of concern but also annoyance. Adam didn't know what to say. It seemed apparent that Cody had not told him about them having sex for the first time. It also seemed apparent that he was in a position to tell them something, and he couldn't think of a good lie on the spot like that, but the truth would probably be to much, not with Cody's mom in the room. "I asked you to drop it, why can't you do that for me?" Cody stepped in, staring Green Lantern down. "I'm not talking to you Cody, I'm asking Adam a question, I'm expecting an answer from him." Green Lantern stared right back at him, almost like he was looking through him and at Adam, who Cody was now blocking. Adam didn't know if he could even say it without being embarrassed. "Last night, Cody and I, it was our first time, we were up late, and we made love, I was tired, I must have slept through the alarm. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do it, and it won't happen again. It was a one time thing." Adam blurted it out quickly, at least as quick as possible as he could say that. He wished his tongue could have worked faster. Cody blushed and put his head down, unable to look up for fear that his mother would be looking back at him with so many expressions on his face. Adam blushed but couldn't look away from his elder's gaze. Both of them wanted to ask him a lot of questions. "You two had sex last night?" Lois asked, her question wasn't politely phrased, but she wasn't thinking completely at that point. "Yes, ma'am." Adam replied. "Were you safe?" Green Lantern stepped in, his question was more relevant, but at the same time, the answer was going to be less liked than the first answer. "We've never been with anyone else, we didn't have any condoms." Cody replied, having the strength to look up now. He would have to look at his mother some time, and that time would be as good as any other. "I'll buy you some." Lois replied, not an answer he expected. "You'll what?" Adam asked with a dumbstruck look on his face. "I said I'd buy you some, I don't want you to be unsafe. I just wish you had waited, asked one of us to buy you some. But as long as you two are safe, I'd rather you not, but it's your business to be having sex. I'm sure you two know how serious of a committment that is. I hope you are taking it that serious." Lois replied. Green Lantern remained silent. "Thanks mom." Cody pulled his mom into a hug. Adam watched on, but his eyes kept glancing over to Green Lantern, who's face was stone serious. "You two can go help plan now, and Adam...you'll be going with us this time. I want to know some things about these people, and the only way to do that is for you to see them and know them. So you should get ready as well." Green Lantern exited the room first, and they followed. Adam and Cody rushed off to Cody's bedroom, while Lois made her way after Green Lantern. Meanwhile, back on Earth Jessie was doing her own planning. She still had so much to do before they would attack. Her gun still wasn't ready. "What are you going to call yourself?" Tasha asked Lucas with a smile. Lucas just laughed at her, but he hadn't really thought about. It was something serious to think about though, he couldn't go around as Lucas. "I don't know, what are you gonna call yourself?" "I was thinking about Electrus...what do you think?" Tasha asked, even though she knew they were both getting stares from Kendral. "I like it babe. But what do you think about Chiller?" "It fits you, and I think Electrus and Chiller will make a pretty good team. Oh yeah, and Rhino and Bear, of course, with Jessie's leadership. I think their's another member of our team, but he's not the type to pick himself a name." Tasha and Lucas laughed as they stared at Kendral waiting to see if he would show any signs of joining in on the conversation and choosing a name for himself. "I got one, how about Meat." Lucas laughed hysterically. "You wish." Kendral replied as he grabbed his crotch and shook it. "Hunter, you should go by Hunter, Kendral. It's got a nice ring to it." Tasha replied as she smacked Lucas upside the back of his head. "I don't know, I think Kendral sounds pretty good too." He laughed at the two, not really sure that he wanted a nickname, or some evil moniker. That wasn't what he was looking for. He sighed and looked around, this wasn't anything that he wanted. He wasn't sure that he even wanted to help Jessie any more. She was using them, he could see it clearer than anything else he had ever seen. Sure she was better then the big guy who used to control them, but at least he didn't deny it. Jessie had the others wrapped around her fingers, and he knew it would be hard to convince them other wise. So he sighed again, this time knowing he could do nothing. At least Jessie seemed to be a good bet, she was confident, and it would mean a good amount of food and safety for his brothers. That is if they were lucky enough to get by the Justice League. And that was just another thought to add to his dismay. His brothers weren't trained for battle, and Lucas and Tasha were way too into their weapons to really be practicing with them. He wasn't sure this would be a good idea at all. Similar feelings were rushing through Adam's head as he grabbed a pair of jeans. He pulled them on and than a t-shirt, yeah a t-shirt. But he couldn't really think of anything better to wear. He didn't have an outfit, he didn't have anything to go with. He was going to look pretty out of character compared to his friends, but at least he was going. But that's what was bothering him, he wasn't sure he belonged with them down their in battle. He wasn't sure he would be any help, he assumed he would probably just get in the way again. And that would only make matters worse. He didn't want to be the one who always needed rescuing. But he didn't have much choice, Green Lantern wanted him there, wanted him to be able to read the new enemies minds. He wasn't going to go into battle like that though. Lois smiled as she walked into the room, tossing him a bundle of clothes. He looked at her with confusion, she just smiled, and looked over at Cody who had the same bright smile on his face. He unfolded the bundle and had to choke back tears of happiness. It was an outfit, one of his own, it was simple, a black tank top with blank tights. But they were designed with red patterns throughout them. Adam smiled and quickly stripped back down to his boxers. He grabbed the outfit and pulled it on quickly, looking at himself in the mirror to make sure it wasn't just a dream. He ran over to Lois and gave her a giant hug, and Cody joined in too. The hug finished when the alarm went off and they had to rush to the space pods. Lois waved them goodbye as she watched both pods head down to Earth. She was confident that her son and his boyfriend, along with the others would be able to handle this enemy. She just had a good gut feeling. Adam was silent on the ride down. Cody was flying down on his own with Jasmine, so that just left him in a space pod with Nightwing and Green Lantern. All of the other teenagers were in the other space pod behind them. But he could hardly contain himself, he wanted to just scream at the top of his lungs with the happiness that was shooting through him. Although he knew that would be inappropriate and unwelcomed by Green Lantern. But he did see a friendly smile from Nightwing once or twice on the ride down. It was odd, for some reason it all seemed different going down for battle in the pods, not just for a walk through. The clouds seemed to part for them, and the ground seemed to welcome them as they landed on a green patch of a field. Adam noticed that it was circled by trees and knew that they had chosen it because it would hide them from their enemies. But he knew this wasn't even the spot they were supposed to be in. Jessie was a good mile north of them. Nightwing pushed open the doors, and jumped on his Bat Cycle, he pulled off the pod and Tiger jumped on the back. Pyro grabbed on to the back of Jasmine's legs, and Adam felt himself being pulled into Cody's arms. Green Lantern nodded at them all and they followed him north, just like Adam had guessed. The trip was quick, and when Nightwing and Tiger had pulled up behind them it seemed eerily quiet with none of their noises going. Green Lantern pointed forwards over a small cement barrier and they shook their heads. Adam stayed towards the back, watching as they advanced. Pyro took the lead, and as he came to the barrier, he blew it away with his powers. The barrier went crashing forward, and when the smoke cleared Jessie and her friends were standing their waiting. "Nice to see you." Jessie screamed as she jumped forward at Jasmine, tackling her to the ground, and pummel her with punches. Jasmine grasped her arms and flung her backwards, at this point Tasha and Lucas ran forwards, charging at Pyro and Tiger. Everyone else jumped into the battle, including Rhino and Bear, both of them lunging for Cody. "Meet my new friends, Electrus and Chiller." Jessie again screamed as she lunged at Jasmine another time. Once again Jasmine dodged the attack and watched Jessie fall to the floor. Meanwhile Electrus pointed her charge rod at Tiger and fired. The electric shock flew out and hit Tiger square in the chest, sending her to the floor, convulsing in pain. It took a second for Pyro to realize what was going on, and for Electruc to realize the power of her weapon. but when she did she took aim and fired at Pyro, barely missing him as he leapt into the air. Chiller took aim and begin firing at him with his ice ray, but each hit had little effect on his flames. Nightwing flew into action with his bike, racing by Kendral and tying him up quickly, than dragging him to the floor. He leapt off of his bike as Kendral broke free and went into hand to hand combat with him. And if not for his quick speed Kendral could have made defeat quick and brutal. But the larger teen could not get close enough to Nightwing to hit him before a kick was heading towards his face or chest. Finally Kendral got a hold of Nightwing's foot and sent him flying towards Tiger's weak body on the ground. Kendral charged forward past his friends and over towards Adam who was completely caught off guard as he tried to read the minds of his new opponents. Adam barely had time to scream before Kendral was on Nightwing's bike, racing off down the streets. Cody heard the scream though and flew into the air, causing Kendral's brothers to run into each other instead of him. They hit the floor as Cody hit the sky, speeding after the Bat Cycle. Jessie smiled and looked at her friends, they smiled back and continued their attack. Her plan was going perfectly. Until Jasmine hit her with a good left hook and she hit the floor. That wasn't perfect, but it wasn't terrible either. She rolled over behind a small bush, and found her weapon. Standing up she took aim, Cody was a good deal away at this point, but not far enough. She fired after taking precise aim and hit him in the right arm. She watched as he did a sort of mid-air twirl and hit the building that he was flying by. The noise was loud and brought all traffic and pedestrians to a stop as he hit the floor with parts of building falling beside his body. Green Lantern let out a lasso with his ring and grabbed the gun from her hand, crushing it with a giant hand. Jessie was pissed, but she had already done her damage. Three of the Justice League were already out of commission, and one was her captive. She threw her hands up in the air and they took off running. Green Lantern took to flight as did Jasmine to follow them, while Pyro stayed, trying to revive his two fallen friends. Jasmine kept up the flight when she saw that Green Lantern was stopping to see about Cody. She wasn't going to let them get away that easily. Swooping down she scooped Chiller into her arms. "Put me down freak." Chiller screamed, pointing his gun at her and trying to shoot her with it. The rays of ice went flying into the air, hitting the sides of buildings or continuing on into the clouds. "Their's no point in doing that, I like the cold." Jasmine replied, breathing a breath of cold air onto him. He shivered and relaxed, she was right, he wasn't getting away. Quickly she flew him back to Pyro, dropped him on the ground, and with one of Nightwing's ropes he tied him up. Jasmine took back the chase, she wasn't alone though. Green Lantern had already corralled the two young spliced kids, and that just left Jessie and the other girl. Jessie took a turn down an alley, and Jasmine went on straight after Tasha. She was barely able to dodge a ray of electricity come right for her head, but it gave her the chance to do a dive drop straight towards the girl, catching her in her arms. On the way back towards her friends she was practically knocked to the ground by a flying...well she couldn't describe it as any more than an angel. Out of nowhere she went right by a tall, lean winged man. He was defined with strength, white wings protruding far out past his body, not an imperfection on them. He swooped throught the air like a master of the sky, dodging buildings with ease as Jasmine watched on. She couldn't catch a face, but only silver glistening off of his lower body, silver wristlets, silver cup, silver skirt, silver boots, he was a silver adonis flying through the sky with the utmost of ease. She watched as he drew a golden sword from his side and swooped down behind a far off building. She had no idea who it was, but she hoped that he wasn't with Jessie. In fact the angel as Jasmine could only describe him was not with Jessie, he was by himself. He was also a menacing figure to ride a motorcycle towards, and Kendral practically wrecked as he came to a stop about two feet before the towering figure. Jessie ran up beside him, staring down the winged being. "You're ruining our escape asshole, you're ruining my plan." Jessie was raging with anger as Kendral lifted Adam off the bike and ran into a side ware house, Jessie followed, hoping that the figure wouldn't follow her. They ran into a back room and stopped. Kendral forcefully sat Adam on a chair and tied him up, Jessie smiled as she shut the door, pulling out a video camera that she had brought along in her side pocket. She set it down and hit the record button, focusing it on Adam and Kendral behind him. She jumped forward and bent down so that her face was directly in the main focus of it. "Hey Superboy, I hope you're feeling better, didn't mean to hurt you like that, but you just get in the way all the time. You and your friends don't know how to mind your business, but don't worry, we can change that. We can make a bargain, you can give me my friends back, because I know you caught them, and then I'll give you your boyfriend back. But I know you probably don't wanna release a bunch of criminals, so I guess we'll make another bargain. If you don't give me them back, including their weapons, Kendral here is going to do whatever he pleases with your boyfriend." Jessie stepped out of the picture, smiling as the camera caught images of Kendral running his finger over Adam's chest, the camera neglected to catch Kendral's own turmoil with doing that, but it caught Adam's fear, caught the tears running down his face, and that was all Jessie wanted it to catch. She was going to get an image on video that she didn't want though as the door burst open and once again the winged figure was bothering her. "Untie him." "No, get out of her." Jessie insisted, pushing him out the door that he had burst through. He easily pushed her to the side and looked at Kendral. "Untie him." Kendral refused, charging him and knocking him to the floor. They fought for a while as Jessie ran back into the room and undressed Adam the best he could in the chair. He was only able to get his pants off a little bit, so that they were around his knees, and the shirt was stretched back over his arms. Adam was ashamed of the image that was being played onto the tape. "Who the hell are you?" Jessie screamed as the man walked back into the room. She couldn't see out the door past him, but she knew that Kendral was probably tied up some where in the warehouse. Things were not looking good. "You can call me Virtue." He replied as he grabbed her by the arms. Within seconds she was tied up to a pillar. Virtue bent down and untied the knots that held Adam still. Adam shook with fear as he fixed his clothes, not sure if Virtue was going to do anything to him. "Go" Adam didn't have to be told twice, he took off running towards the direction he knew Cody was in. He was there with in five minutes, breathing erractically, tear stains on his face. He could hardly speak as he tried to tell Green Lantern what happened, but that would have to wait, as they insisted that he take them to find Jessie and Kendral. He still coudln't keep his mouth shut, although words really weren't forming as they took off with in directions. The police were detaining Electrus, Chiller, Rhino and Bear, which just left Adam to get them to Kendral and Jessie. Cody flew slowly, still recovering from the blast Jessie had hit him with, he tried to listen to Adam, but could hardly understand a thing that his boyfriend was saying. Adam pointed through the doors and refused to go inside. Cody waited outside with him, running arms up and down Adam's trying to calm him. Talking was finished, because they both knew that it wasn't doing any good when it couldn't be understood. Green Lantern came back out leading the others, in tow were Jessie and Kendral within the power of his green ring. Pyro was carrying a small camera, and Adam practically fell apart upon seeing it. Cody had to grab his boyfriend before he hit the floor, holding him up as they walked out to the streets, where the squad cars were already waiting for the criminals. It was a strange ride back to the station. Cody and Jasmine both rode back in the pods, neither one of them wanting to fly back on the own. Cody sat next to Adam, letting him rest his head on his shoulders to hope that he would relax, or at least calm down a little bit. Jasmine tried to explain what she had seen to Green Lantern, tried to describe the man that had passed her in the sky, but she was coming up short besides bright silver and white wings. Questions were expected to be answered by Adam about it, but Green Lantern knew that it wasn't appropriate to jump into those questions. Instead he sat silently, the camera they had found was rolling through his free hand, he would watch that first, he had assumptions that it might have answers on it anyways. As he pulled into the space station he gave them all permission to head to their own rooms or where they pleased so that he could figure things out with Lois. "How did it go?" Lois asked, but she was cut short as Green Lantern grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into the control room. He popped the tape into a projector and took a seat. Lois sat down beside him. "Care to explain?" "We caught them, at least, we caught most of them. Jasmine said something about a winged man, and I'm assuming that he was the one who stopped Kendral and Jessie. But Adam was caught, he's fine, but shaken up, and I think this tape will tell us why. But afterwards I think we are still going to have to talk to him about it." Green Lantern replied. Lois and Green Lantern watched as the tape begin, listened as Jessie rambled on, solely addressing Cody as the listener. They watched as Kendral ran off the screen, and assumed that he was doing battle with the winged man, and they also watched as Jessie tried to undress Adam. Lois had to look away at that point, afraid of seeing what would come next. Green Lantern watched on as the winged man appeared on the screen, and watched as he untied Adam. He also stared intently at the figure, his gaze focusing on the face, it reminded him of someone, and he knew the eyes, they were familiar. The video stopped when the figure ordered Adam to leave. Lois shivered in shock, but could only think of how lucky they had been that this figure had come to their rescue. "I'll go get Adam, he should be able to research this figure." Green Lantern stood up, but this time it was his turn to be stopped by a grab to the arm. "Let him relax, he won't want to do that tonight, not after what happened to him. He should get some sleep, tomorrow, after he's rested we'll ask him." Lois insisted. Green Lantern shook his head in agreement, she was right, but those eyes were piercing into him, and he needed assurance, because his hunch was getting to him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, this new figure is mysterious and secretive, and something about him is familiar to Green Lantern. Will Adam be able to find out the origin of this figure? Is the figure good or bad, a friend or foe? Is this the last time Jessie shall be heard of? Plenty of questions to be answered, let me know if you guys have any ideas of how to answer them. You can e-mail me at liberateme02@yahoo.com Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Plus I also want to send a thank you out to a special reader...Seraph, this idea belongs to her, she wrote to me with the idea and I am using it because I think it was a really good one. So once again, thank you Seraph.
