The Borg By Buky-18 kael116@yahoo.com Chapter 2 - The Awakening I felt like I was waking up from a bad trip. The lights were hurting my eyes. Voices muttered indistinctly in the distance. Shapes moved over my head. I slowly came out of unconsciousness, but my vision was still blurry. As I returned to reality, I could hear several voices speaking to me. "Waaaaaaakkkkkkeeee uuuuuppppp Joooooonnnnn," it said in a slow and warped voice. I heard it again and again, each time getting clearer. Soon, I could hear perfectly and I gasped. I thrust my eyes open and looked up. The shapes were still really fuzzy, but I could tell it was my friend Kevon over me - my best friend. He's straight. I'm gay. He doesn't give a fuck - he's still my best friend. I tried to move, but he held me down saying, "You really scared me for a minute there Jon.You scared all of us. When you weren't transported with the rest of us, we thought you had been killed." "Being killed would have been kind," another voice said. It was my commander, Lieutenant Commander Brenshaw. "Well, at least we're here together Jon. The drones took the ship really fast and we didn't have time to react," said Kevon. DRONES!?!!? DRONES! No! "Drones!?!" I yelled. "Yeah. Can you believe it? We're all just waitin' around here to be enslaved and mutilated by the purest form of evil in the universe," said Kevon, "looking forward to it?" His tone was bitter, defeated, and resigned. We were in the heart of what looked to be a Borg vessel, without any means of defense or escape. We were helpless. I looked around the room, trying to figure out exactly where we were, if there was a computer terminal I might be able to access, or at least do something. Alas, my vision was still impaired. But, I could make out a few more faces and forms: there were at least 50 of us in the room - I recognized some of them from the Mendoza, but the vast majority were men I had never seen before. Wait a minute. MEN? Surely there are some women in here. Nope. Why have they gathered the men? I thought. The Borg ship was hot, humid and had a peculiar odor. It smelled like thousands of warm bodies, mixed with seawater, layered on heated electronics - of ozone. Despite being humid, the air had a crispness to it that felt like giant quantities of static discharge. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Glancing back at Kevon, I saw the terrified look on his face. We've been here a while. I thought. It took a lot to scare Kevon. We had almost been ripped apart by rifts in the space-time continuum, fought in the Dominion War, and survived promotion. Being in a tense, no-win scenario for long amounts of time just scared the hell out of him. Then, my head began to hurt tremendously. Things started to get really blurry again, and the world started to go black. "Stay with us Jon...Stttttaaaay wiiiiiiiith uuuusssss." Kevon ordered, but it was no use. I suddenly came to what seemed like moments later. Kevon was still near me, and most of my crewmates huddled around the rest of us. "You're back!" Excitedly yelped Kevon, "You were out for a good three hours." "Did I miss anything?" I asked. "Actually, yes you have. There were six of them - drones, that is. They came into the room, chamber, whatever, and started to circle us. Two of them started to walk towards the center of the group, but then Lt. Cmdr. Brenshaw hit them. Three other people started to fight the drones. They used their fists and tried to beat them unconscious, but the drones were too strong..Too strong. After a short struggle, they dragged Brenshaw off along with the others. Who knows where/what they are now. Just then, several drones walked into the room. They were strangely configured though.
