The Twilight Wars

Chapter 3 – The Hunters

The two weeks spent on Isle Esme held nothing but lovemaking and the occasional trip to the shore to hunt. I noticed that Lucian got moody when he was thirsty, something I'd never noticed before, but then again, he'd gone through great lengths to make dating a vampire as normal as possible for me.

The trip home was not as difficult as the one to the island because I knew what to expect. Lucian didn't speak to me in the plane and I feigned sleeping to keep the stewardesses from asking me if I was hungry or thirsty and therefore forcing me to talk.

My eyes were also losing the bright red and slowly fading, but they still weren't any shade that would allow me to go into public without contacts.

We were greeted at home with warm reception by the entire Cullen family, all of them wanting to know how we liked the island. We spared them the details we were sure would be unwanted. "Is the house still in one piece?" Emmett asked.

"Not a scratch on anything!" Lucian assured Esme who gave a very slight, but noticeable sigh of relief.

I wasn't much of a part of that conversation because I was trying to figure out what a certain smell was. I'd only gotten a slight whiff of it at the wedding, but it was much stronger now. "Alex? What's wrong?" Bella asked. I must have looked distracted or something.

"What is that...stench?" I asked before deciding to just stop breathing. It was horrid.

"That would be Jacob," Bella explained, but Rosalie couldn't hold in her laugh. I knew from stories that Rosalie and Jacob didn't exactly see eye-to-eye, and not just because he was nearly seven feet or taller.

I heard movement upstairs and it slowly made its way closer, growing louder as it did. Finally, a average-looking dark-skinned man appeared. "Hello," he said, his husky voice was tense it was very clear from the get-go that he didn't like my presence one bit. In truth, the feelings were reciprocated.

"Be nice, Jacob!" Renesmee scolded him. "Alex and Lucian are my friends, too."

I could hear his blood pulsing beneath a very easily torn layer of skin and I'd have thirsted for it if it weren't for the reeking aura that surrounded him. Jasper looked at me tensely. I thought he may be happy that I had an internal struggle around humans, but I also knew he was disappointed that I could control it.

"My name is Jacob," the dark-skinned boy said, holding his hand out to me. Some strange instinct kicked in and I poised myself for attack and nearly did had Lucian not stepped between us.

"He's one of our friends, Alex," Lucian cooed into my ear. "He won't hurt us... he was simply greeting you."

"I don't like him," I said, not bothering to lower my voice. "There's something about him..."

"It's just your instinct. We're natural enemies but we learn to coexist for Renesmee's sake. Now you must also do the same or we'll wear out our welcome here very quickly," Lucian answered, his voice was less tender.

I gave a sigh of defeat and kissed Lucian on the cheek. "They're fags?" Jacob asked. There were nanoseconds between his comment and me vaulting right over Lucian and holding Jacob very tightly by his throat. I lifted him up. His skin burned against mine, but I didn't care.

"Alex, let him go!" Esme urged. "Jasper! Do something!"

Jasper and I had a friendly connection and thus he didn't resort to his powers at first. Instead, the beautiful blonde vampire placed a hand on my shoulder and said, "It's not worth it, Alex. Just come with me... we'll hunt... we'll talk about it... just let him go."

I did as Jasper asked, dropping Jacob onto the floor. Renesmee and Bella rushed to him. Jasper pulled on my arm, urging me outside and into the cool night air. I ran far and fast into the woods, Jasper did his best to keep up with me. "Alex... don't run. I just want to talk to you," he said.

I felt pressure inside me, like I was going to burst. I collapsed to the ground. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream and get it all out. I couldn't, and that frustrated me more than everything.

"Just go ahead and say it, Jasper. I was out of line and I'm a horrible person," I growled bitterly.

"One thing you should know about Jasper Hale... I don't lie. If you hadn't have tried to choke him, Emmett or I'd have decked him. Edward's restrained by Bella... but all of us like you, Alex. It's nice having you around... and we don't exactly like the mongrel, either. He had it coming to him," Jasper said. I'll be quite honest, it made me feel a hell of a lot better.

"I just don't know what came over me," I said. "There's really no excuse for what I did."

"Sure there is," Jasper replied shrugging his shoulders. "Newborns aren't exactly the poster children of self-restraint. Not to mention, he said something really rude about you and I'd bet every car in our garage that he's getting his ass handed to him by everyone in that house."

I sighed and looked down the river we were standing near. I picked up a rock and tossed it. It went a lot further than I thought and skipped upstream for about a mile. I could feel the frustration emanating off of me.

"Let's hunt," Jasper suggested, keeping his voice low.

I nodded and followed him. We mostly walked, wanting to elongate the time outside as much as possible. We caught the scent of a pack of deer that were migrating, but we wanted a struggle so we wandered further, leaving the deer to their peace.

"It's not that easy for you, is it?" Jasper asked after a half an hour of walking in silence.

"What?" I asked. I'd been so absorbed in my own thoughts I hadn't quite caught what he asked.

"You make it look easy, but you're struggling like me, aren't you?" Jasper clarified.

"You have no idea how much I wanted to gorge myself when we went into the airport..." I sighed.

"Try going to a high school and being cooped up in small rooms with twenty five different entrees... six hours a day, five days a week..."

"I give. You win this round."

We both laughed. We heard rustling. Both of us stood as still as stone. A breeze blew by us and it carried a most tantalizing scent. Two friends were camping. Before we knew it, we were both off and running. Within moments, we were looking down at the campsite and we didn't even stop to think before jumping down and attacking. Jasper took the guy who tried to throw a log at us and I grabbed the one who tried to escape.

I held him tightly to keep him from moving as my teeth sank into his fragile skin. His blood entered my mouth and immediately the fires died. At that point, I wanted only to keep that fire out. The man jerked around, trying to break free, but I continued to drink. His blood excited me and I never wanted it to end. Slowly, his movements died down, then stopped completely. His heartbeat, which sounded like bass drums to my sensitive ears stuttered to a halt.

I continued to drink until I could get nothing more. Blood dripped down my chin, Jasper's too. We looked at each other, our eyes glowing bright crimson. We were both done with our meals and something burned in me. Before I knew it, my arms were around Jasper and my lips pressed to his. We tore our clothes off as our lust for each other grew more intense. Before I knew it, Jasper's dick was inside me and we were both moaning and grunting with primal joy.

His moves were not as careful or loving as Lucian's, but what they lacked in care, they made up for in pleasure. He kept his hands on my shoulders for the leverage to thrust. My arms and knees found their refuge on the ground, which felt like velvet to my granite skin. When he neared his orgasm, he gave a few grunts, but otherwise kept plowing himself into me. It wasn't until after the third orgasm that he collapsed on top of me and we laid there in the leaves and moss staring up at the sky.

"We can't go back to the house for a week or so," Jasper said after a few minutes.

"Why not?" I asked.

"It'll take that long for my eyes to return to normal," he answered.

"But won't Edward know anyway?" I asked.

"Yes, but I don't think he'd tell Carlisle or Alice..."

"How do we keep Alice from seeing us?" I questioned. I felt that no matter what we did, we were sunk.

"Spur-of-the-moment decisions," Jasper replied. "Alice didn't see what just happened because we didn't plan it."

"Oh," was my simple reply. We took the clothes off of the men and used them to replace what was left of our severely torn and tattered clothing. We then hid the bodies by carrying them three miles west of where they were and throwing them into the ocean. We ended up swimming out past the ledge to make sure they wouldn't float back. I felt immensely guilty. Jasper picked up on it.

"What we did was an accident, Alex," he whispered. "We'll be forgiven for it."

I wasn't so sure.

"What's taking them so long?" Lucian asked impatiently. He paced in front of the large windowed wall of the Cullen's house.

"I don't know... Bella, take Renesmee out of the room, I'll be able to see better," Alice replied, her voice was tense, as was her face. "They're hiding from me... Jasper knows how to get around my powers."

"What do you think happened?" Esme and Rosalie asked worried.

"They found humans," Emmett answered. "It's the only logical answer. Jasper struggles with our way of life the most, and Alex is a newborn. Do the math."

"Jasper would never—" Bella started talking on her way out, but then remembered her last real birthday.

"They have to know we wouldn't hold it against them," Esme whispered.

"They're both probably too ashamed of themselves," Edward replied.

"They killed someone?" Jacob asked running downstairs. He'd been upstairs, helping put Renesmee to bed. "Do you know what that means?"

"We're all aware of that, Jacob," Carlisle answered tersely. "But I thought Renesmee solved that problem for us?"

"I don't know that Sam would necessarily care now. The other pack has to know," Jacob protested. "The treaty has technically been broken."

"They wouldn't have left if you hadn't provoked him, Jacob!" Lucian snarled.

"Don't blame this on me, Leech! I put my neck on the line when you first created him!" Jake growled back. Bella, who had returned by this point, could see the precursors to him transforming. Lucian was ready.

"I think we need to try and track them. Their scent has to be fairly fresh... and it's not raining," Rosalie suggested. "Just keep searching for him, Alice."

"No," Alice answered. Everyone looked shocked. "Jasper will return when he's ready. This may be good for both of them. What they're going through is something we've all had to deal with. Let's let them go through it in privacy."

"I'm not sure about this," Lucian whispered, staring out of the window. He felt incomplete without his Alexander by his side.

"He'll be fine, Luc," Edward replied. "He and Jasper are together. They'll take care of each other. Jasper and Alex are great friends. They'll be safe."

****************************************

Jasper and I travelled a while by water, knowing our family wouldn't be able to track us. Every once and a while, we'd go to land, not wanting to keep the decision to stay in water, knowing Alice would be able to see it. During some of the forays to land, Jasper would fuck me. I asked him why and he said the split decision to do so kept us invisible to Alice. I shrugged. It's not like I minded.

We did a lot of hunting while we travelled, but we were sure to keep it just animals. After three days, we decided to call. Jasper spent ten whole minutes apologizing to Alice for such an abrupt disappearance, and all she said was, "You need this."

Lucian spent ten minutes telling me how worried he'd been and that he wanted me to go through whatever it was that I was going through, but he'd be worried about my safety the entire time. I felt immensely guilty about it. Afterwards, Jasper spoke to Edward, telling Edward he needed to be somewhere no one else would hear him. When Edward was, Jasper told him what had gone on between us, he also confirmed their suspicions about us attacking humans.

Edward assured Jasper that he wouldn't tell anyone about what was going on between us as long as we ended it once we got home, but he said he'd talk to the other Cullens about the fact that Jasper had relapsed and he and I were trying to get through our own guilt and struggles together. He sent us Esme's love and told us they had already come to that conclusion so it wouldn't be that big of a shock. Edward also told Jasper that Alice wasn't going to search for us, so we were safe.

Carlisle suggested we go to Denali, which we agreed to do.

We'd made it down to the tip of Baja California in three days, so it'd likely be another three and a half days to Denali, but we decided we'd do it. Spending time with Tanya and her family would be good for us.

Since we were no longer going to be on radar, we could stop for the day in caves and other shady places to minimize the chance of humans seeing our sparkling skin. We knew we'd have to attack anyone who did and that was counterproductive to our trip's new purpose.

During one of the days in the cave, Jasper and I began to talk.

"Why did you let people think you had adjusted so well?" he asked.

"I didn't want people to patronize me," I replied simply.

"But they wouldn't have if you'd have asked them not to."

I shrugged. "I figured I'd circumvent it all. Of course, that one backfired..."

"Well, not exactly," Jasper replied.

I felt a burn of lust inside me and I wasn't sure if it was me or him. Jasper laughed. "You caught me."

We kissed, our tongues playing with each other. I smelt his sweet breath and nibbled slightly on his lip. We carefully removed our clothing, not having any to replace it yet. We were going to make a run by my cabin on the way to Denali. Jasper and I wore the same size, so we'd just raid my closet.

Jasper bent over in front of me. At first, I wasn't sure what to do. He urged me to go on. I lined my dick up with his waiting anus and slowly pushed in. Like Lucian had been, he was extremely tight. I gasped and he did, too. He could feel what I felt. Jasper moaned more than I did. And as soon as I felt like I was building up to an orgasm, it would go away. Jasper was suppressing them. "You'll thank me when I finally let you have one," he assured me.

It got to the point that I was plowing into him with the speed and vigor that only a newborn vampire could possibly possess. His squeals of pleasure at every move drove me even faster until finally, he let me cum with one explosive orgasm. I felt mentally spent, but my body could have still gone on.

"That was amazing," I said, feeling as though I should be panting for air. Jasper closed his eyes, a smile on his face, as he nodded his head in agreement.

"You definitely had one of the best orgasms I've ever felt," he said.

I must have seemed confused or emanated confusion because he clarified after pulling himself off of me with a moan. "As vampires, we don't really ever change... physically or mentally. Our clan is really an exception because we don't have a normal diet. But vampires are sexual creatures, especially the males. We're bisexual by nature. The same-sex hunting trips we used to go on... a little more than male bonding went on. Lucian would always just watch because he wanted to wait until he could bring you to one."

I must have still been confused because he clarified further. "I love Alice... you love Lucian, but it's in our natures to have sex as much as we can. The women don't really feel like that until after they get past being a newborn. We could fuck each other all day every day until the end of time and I'd always still love Alice, but I'd still like having sex with you."

"So you mean... Edward won't tell because you all have fucked before?" I asked.

Jasper nodded. "We think Alice knows about it, but Rose, Esme, and Bella don't. We want to keep it that way for a while. We like it. Especially when Carlisle feels like being top. Several centuries allows for a person go acquire quite a bit of skill." We both laughed. "I prefer when Emmett fucks me, though. He's hung like a horse and when I get to feel what he's feeling... it drives me insane."

He gave me a taste of what it felt like thanks to his gift and I had to say, I was excited. Jasper crawled over me before entering me again. Just as he got a steady pace going, we heard something at the opening of the cave.

We quickly dressed. "Is it a human?" I asked. Jasper sniffed the air.

"It's a vampire," he growled.

We walked to the entrance of the cave to see two average-sized vampires. "We heard something in the cave and wanted to check it out," the taller of the two said. His voice held a distinct New England accent and his hair was dark brown, almost black.

"We heard some fun going on and wondered if we could join in," the shorter replied, getting more to the point. This one had a beautiful face and auburn hair.

I looked out and the sun was nearly down. "We were actually just about to leave... we're travelling."

"Nomads?" the tall one asked.

"No, we have a permanent residence nearby," Jasper clarified. "We were just travelling to see some of our friends."

"I get it," the short one said, nodding his head and eyeing me suspiciously. "You just don't wanna share this one... well, that's too bad."

He lunged at me and I knocked him back, backing up my own physical power with my gift. Jasper growled angrily at the remaining vampire, who decided it'd be better not to attack us. The short one wasn't that smart, so I gave him a more powerful taste of my gift. I used it to rip off pieces of his skin. It sounded like ripping metal. The noise hurt my ears. The skin, however, would return as long as it wasn't burnt.

"What are you doing to him?" the tall one screamed with a horrified voice.

"Exactly what will happen to you if you don't leave," I answered.

"Alex, stop... you've gotten your point across," Jasper whispered just loud enough for me to hear.

I set the short one down. He was whimpering with pain and the pieces of skin were working their way back to him.

The tall one looked at us with ferocity dripping from his eyes. "You two will pay for what you did. It won't be today, but I assure you. You will pay."

I smirked. "Do you really wanna go there?" I lunged a bit and he stumbled backward. I had never before seen a vampire stumble. It made me quite happy.

The smaller one hissed at me and they glided off into the woods. "We haven't seen the last of them, Alex," Jasper told me.

Soon, we were in the woods my house was in and I quickly got in, got clothes, and got out. Jasper and I headed up to Denali, stopping each day to fuck our brains out.

Chapter 4: Reunions

Lucian's lips slammed into mine and his body pressed closer than I ever thought it could. His hands roamed my body, shredding my shirt to pieces. "Don't you ever leave me like that again," he warned. His voice wasn't threatening, though. It held a sadness that I had never heard him express.

"I'm sorry, Lucian," I told him. My voice rang with pure sincerity. "I'll never leave you again, I promise."

He kissed my forehead.

We moved a little further through the woods. Something wasn't right. I searched around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. We moved closer to our house. I screamed out. It was gone. There wasn't a single shred of it left. The Cullens heard my scream and were next to us soon after.

"Oh my God," Bella breathed.

"Who could have done this?" Esme asked, devastation for my loss could be heard in her voice.

"Definitely no friend to us," Emmett said bitterly.

"I think I know," Jasper replied. Those four words made it crystal clear. The vampires we'd met at the cave.
