Rating: R Summary: David and Michael examine what's underneath a blanket full of daisies. Author's Notes: How many times have you had to tell your family, friend, colleagues, and complete strangers that the pretty boy with the long dreads and beautiful blue eyes is a real boy and not a girl? Well, I've had these conversations far too many times. Here's the fic inspired by said conversations. To get a better understanding of this dilemma that I face almost daily, check out Jason Castro at http://s43.photobucket.com/albums/e393/suszalwaze/?action=view¤t=ee0dddc1.pbw . Underneath a Blanket Full of Daisies It was late at night when he finally arrived at the apartment. He had missed his flight due to a mix-up with the schedule at the bar. The owner knew of his important flight, but could care less about letting David get off early. He didn't want to lose his best bartender and therefore the past several weeks he did everything he could to sabotage David's trip to Hollywood. This last minute mix-up with the schedule did not surprise David one bit. He took it in strides, got off work when his shift was finally over, and raced to the airport in time to see the plane taking off. The next flight was in three hours. He made the quick phone call to alert the good old folks at American Idol that he had missed his flight and that he would not arrive until after midnight. He spoke too soon. For the short flight from Tulsa to Los Angeles, there was so much turbulence that the pilot had to make an emergency landing halfway through the flight to check on the engine. Once everything was clear, the plane took off, again, and headed for Los Angeles. Upon arrival at LAX, David lost his luggage. His option was either to wait around to see if his luggage showed up at the luggage claims or just to leave and his luggage would be delivered to him when the airport found his luggage. He sighed deeply, irritated to no end about all the mishaps of the trip leading to Los Angeles. But at least, he had his guitar. That was the single most important piece of property he had taken with him. If he lost everything else, it would be okay so long as he had his guitar. Three hours and forty-five minutes after his scheduled arrival at the apartment, David stumbled into the dark apartment, exhausted as hell. He tripped over a carryon luggage, propelling him forward. He landed face down on the floor between two beds. With the support of the bed, he lifted himself off the floor. He turned around and was faced with the most beautiful creature he had ever seen, neatly tucked underneath a blanket full of daisies. His first inclination was that he had gone to heaven and was staring at an angel. The angelic creature had delicate features throughout with strong and defined cheek bones; full, thick, silky lips; and long sweeping eyelashes. Once David rationalized that this creature was indeed human and not an angel from the heavens, David stepped back, wondering aloud if he were in the right room. "Am I in the right room?" He stepped out of the room to double check the room number on the door. Indeed, he was in the right room, but why on earth did they arrange for him to be roommates with a girl? Sure, this day and age, people are more liberal, but there should still be some boundaries. It is never a good idea to put young people of the opposite sex in the same room unless the folks of American Idol were hoping for a sex scandal to arise. He stepped back into the room when an Australian accented man's voice caught his attention. "You are in the right room, mate." David jumped, alarmed to find a man inside the room. Where had this man been hiding? "How long have you been in here?" David asked. "Oh, just about an hour." The man with the accent got up from the chair and stepped away from the shadows of the room. "Had the same reaction as you did, mate. Thought there was a mix-up with the roommate assignment. Arrived here about an hour ago to find all the beds occupied. Looks like we have a spoiled brat on our hands. Name's Michael. Michael Johns." Michael extended his hand for David to shake. David shook his hand, introducing himself as David Cook from Tulsa, Oklahoma. David took note of the other two beds. The bed to left had a couple of suitcases on it and the bed to the right had a guitar lying on top of it. Michael was right. Clearly this angel was a bit selfish, taking up both beds when there were two other roommates. "So..." Michael spoke up, again, making his way towards the middle bed. David followed him close behind. "If you are David and I am Michael then this must be Jason Castro." Michael said, pointing to the angel still sound asleep. "Jason Castro," David chuckled to himself. "What's so funny, mate?" "Nothing." David couldn't stop smiling. "I have never seen anything like him. I've never seen any boy this beautiful. Heck, I've never seen any girl this beautiful. I still can't believe he's a boy." David rambled on, neglecting to mention the fact that he also thought he had seen an angel when his eyes fell on the sleeping boy. "Neither can I." Michael stated. "I mean, look at the soft braided hair." "And those sweeping long eyelashes." David added. "Smooth and silky, not to mention flawless skin." "And those thick, full, lips of wine." David smiled to himself, settling next to the guitar on the bed. The more he looked at the sleeping the boy, the more unbelievable it was that this sleeping angel was a boy. David quickly whipped his head to the side to face Michael. "Are you sure this is a boy?" "Well, the names on the apartment list are Jason Castro, David Cook, and Michael Johns. Both David and Michael are accountable for so that leaves Jason." Michael explained. "True, but maybe this isn't Jason, but one of the girls from another apartment mistakenly moving into this apartment." David reasoned. There was no way he could be this much at awe over the beauty of a boy. "There is no way a boy can be this pretty, this beautiful." "I see your point, mate." Michael nodded in agreement. Arms crossed over his chest, Michael closed his eyes, deep in his thoughts when suddenly a smile spread across his face. "I got an idea!" "What idea?" David asked, bewildered. "There's only one way to find out if this is indeed a boy, a boy named Jason Castro." "Care to explain." The smile widened further into a devilish smirk and suddenly David wasn't too sure if he wanted to know what Michael's brilliant idea is. "We do an examination." "An Examination?" "Yes, David. We examine him/her, whatever it is." "That doesn't sound like a good idea. We can get into a lot of trouble." "We can get into a lot of trouble if he knows what we did, but I assure you he won't. The boy's been out like a log since I've been here. I've tried to wake him up numerous times to clear his mess off the beds and he still would not wake up. He's a deep sleeper, this one." Michael explained. "Okay." David still wasn't so sure about this. He got off the bed and positioned himself on the middle bed next to the covered legs as Michael sat down behind the sleeping angel. Michael smiled at David as he reached over the sleeping form to place his hand over the chest area. "No boobs." Michael announced, massaging the chest. "Could be a flat chested girl." David countered. "Could be." Michael agreed. "There's just one more way to find out for sure." Michael stared into David's eyes, challenging him to perform the next exam. David returned the stare and remained stationary at his position on the other side of the sleeping angel. After an intense stare down, David conceded to performing the dirty task and reached his hand forward, surprised to find Michael's hand just inches away from his as they both buried their hands between the legs of the sleeping angel. Both he and Michael smiled when they each found a testicle in the mess of the daisies printed blanket. Yes. It was the confirmation they both needed that this was indeed the boy named Jason Castro. Still with the confirmation completed, David and Michael found themselves unable to let go and what further surprised David was that he was actually closing his fist around the globular sac as did Michael. A soft whimper was released from above and David looked up to find a pair of mesmerizing blue eyes staring down at him. At that exact moment, David's heart stopped beating. His breath was caught in his throat. He couldn't breathe. The continuum of space and time froze. He felt like he was drowning, drowning in the depths of Jason's oceanic blue eyes. His catatonic state kept him in a drugged-like stupor as his gaze continued to burn into Jason's intense blue orbs until at last the boy's eyes closed once more. For the brief moment that their eyes connected, David knew he had fallen hopelessly in love. He had fallen victim to this boy's beauty. Boy or girl, it didn't matter to David anymore. The boy stole his heart in the blink of a blue eye. Michael cleared his throat and echoed his sentiment. "I mean this in the most heterosexual way possible, but I'm gay for Jason Castro, and this is coming from a happily married straight man." Michael laughed. David laughed. He couldn't agree more. Author's Closing Notes: Admittedly, this is not my strongest or favorite fic, but it is the first Jason Castrofic that I ever wrote.
