"You said what?" Doug asked as I hit a vampire in the face, "You're kidding, right, about the feelings..."

I kicked the vampire onto it back, "No." I said, being kicked in the stomach. I jumped over another attempt to take me off my feet. The vampire jumped to her feet and attempted to punch me. I ducked and kicked him in the leg, then staked him.

"You love Lestat?" Doug asked, taking a seat on a tombstone.

I sighed and sat next to him, "Look, I can't even think about love or like or any other thing besides beating the Master." I said, "I really miss sex, though."

"You too?" Doug smiled.

We heard some grunts and groans and raced to the sound and we both stopped when we turned the corner to see Kelly fighting off two vampires single-handedly.

Chapter 55: Repairs

"So, you saw that too?" Doug asked as made it to my house. I took a seat on the couch while he sat in the chair to my left. Doug was in deep thought and I decided that it was best to let him think, "You okay?"

"What's going on? Kelly isn't...she can't fight vampires like that." I said, "She was like a...a...Slayer."

"I've been going over things in my mind and it has to have been the spell used to bring her back." Doug said, "Something's definitely up."

"So, what do we do?" I asked.

"I'm going to research and...um...maybe the Arcanum has something on the spell." Doug said, "Also, Cale should be there, so I'll ask him." He said, walking to the door.

As he was about to leave, Mal opened the door, walked through, and put his bag by the door, "Hey, the witch is here." He said.

"Observant." Doug said, leaving.

"So, what's got his wicca outta whack?" Mal asked, walking over to me.

"Personal problems." I said, "Where ya been?"

Mal chuckled, "Sorry, but I don't see my mom around anywhere." He said, taking a seat on the sofa.

"Right." I sighed, "Well, have you seen Lestat or Grahm?"

"Nope." He said, looking up at me, "Chill."

You can't kill him...he's not a demon.

"Do you have to be such an ass?" I asked.

"Sorry, I don't spend much time around people." He said, "There's food in there, right?"

"Sorry, but I'm not your mom." I said, grabbing my coat, "I'm going patrolling."

"You've already been." Mal said, "Am I wearing out my welcome."

I chuckled, then left.

The Arcanum was quiet as Doug went in. At first, he decided no one was inside, but as he walked farther back he heard rustling and stopped when he reached the backroom to see Cale switching jackets. Doug couldn't help but chuckle at Cale's insecurity.

Cale turned to him, "Doug, I wasn't expecting you." He said, "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"I came to research." Doug said.

"On a lovely night like this?" Cale asked.

Doug felt a twinge of pain, but quickly buried it, "Yeah, well, it's not like I have anybody to spend it with anymore." He said sadly.

Cale looked at him, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to trudge up..."

"It's okay." Doug said, "So, where are you and Kelly going?"

"A new club, Roman." Cale said, "It's supposed to be a great place to just hang out."

"You could always hang out at club Copper." Doug said, "Before Kelly's coma, she'd love to be at the Copper."

Cale dissected his words quickly, "What are you stabbing at?" he asked.

"We...meaning me and Austin think that...well, we think that Kelly's body is possessed." Doug said.

"And what would bring you to this stunning, odd conclusion?" Cale asked defensively.

"Since she's come back, she's said some out of character things." Doug said.

"That's the basis of your argument?" Cale asked.

Doug sighed, "And she doesn't want to hang out with me or Austin." He said.

"Because she's enjoying being alive, being with me." Cale insisted.

"The next thing, you can't explain." Doug said, "She fought off two vampires."

"And..." Cale said.

"By herself." Doug said, "Before her coma, she couldn't take on one vampire, let alone two."

"Maybe luck was on her side." Cale protested.

"Cale." Doug said, "Which spell did you use?"

"Hein's revivification spell." Cale said, "Why?"

"We have to see what went wrong." Doug said.

"This is outrageous!" Cale said, "Nothing is wrong with her and if you insist anything to the contrary then...then..."

"Then what? You'll open your eyes and see what I'm talking about?" Doug asked, "Where's the book with that spell?"

"Somewhere around here." Cale said, storming away.

-

As I patrolled the cemetery, I wondered what my life had become. I was a vampire slayer with a dwindling support system and imminent death around every corner. I heard fighting and ran over to see Kelly, staking a vampire.

"Hey...Austin." She said, throwing the stake away from herself.

"Whatcha doin?" I asked, looking directly at her.

"Just, taking a stroll through the cemetery." Kelly said, "I was almost in a grave, so, I find it...umm, comforting to be here."

"Cut the crap." I blurted, "Something's not right with you. We can help you."

"Are you done trying to save everybody?" Kelly said idly.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I'm the new Kelly." She smirked, "The old Kelly's soul probably moved on ages ago."

"Again, who are you?" I asked.

"You wouldn't remember if I told you." She said, walking towards me, "I was just a girl. I wasn't ready to die yet, but if you're Chosen, it doesn't matter. You're expendable...not really you or Buffy or..."

"You're a Slayer." I said, "Or, you were a Slayer."

"I am." Kelly said, "I was strong enough to hold on. See, in this body, I can just mold myself a new life."

"You can't use her body, she'll die." I said.

"God, I hope so." She said, backhanding me and causing me to fly back behind some bushes. As I fell to the ground behind the bushes, Cale appeared, "Hey, baby."

"Hey." Cale said, kissing her cheek.

"Is something wrong? You seem angry." Kelly smiled.

"It's nothing." Cale said, "We should go." He said, exiting with Kelly.

Doug tore the Arcanum apart looking for the book, but he couldn't find it. He was just about to give up searching when I limped in with Lestat.

"Are you okay?" he asked, helping me take a seat at a table.

I sat down, "I'm a little shaken, but good." I said.

Doug looked to Lestat, "What happened?" he asked.

"I don't know, I found him out cold." Lestat said.

"Isn't that always the way it is?" I asked.

"So, what happened?" Doug asked.

"Kelly, or at least the Slayer that inhabits her body." I said, "She caught me off guard."

"We have bigger problems." Doug said, "Cale doesn't believe us."

"Doesn't matter," I said, "We need to find that book."

"What if we can't?" Doug asked.

"Look, Kelly's soul got ejected from her body! I'm not going to let that chick impersonate my best friend and neither are you." I said, "Now, fan out and search."

-

At club Roman, Cale was finding that Kelly was a bit off. She was different, but had he only noticed because of what Doug said? Were the changes really significant or just a side effect from almost dying? There were a lot of ifs and maybes, but nothing concrete.

"You seem quiet." Kelly said.

Cale sighed, "I'm just...glad you are alright." He said.

"I am." She smiled, "I'm all new."

"Yes, quite." Cale smiled.

"Maybe tonight we can..." they both paused when Austin stood at the table, "Hi." Kelly smiled.

Austin smacked her across the face, causing her to fall from her chair!

"Austin!" Cale shouted.

Kelly just smiled and stood up, "Ow." She said sarcastically.

"It's not her." Austin said.

By then, people had taken notice to what was happening.

"Not here." Cale said.

"No, I think I can take him." Kelly smirked.

"Kelly?" Cale asked.

Kelly looked back at him, and then shook her head. Austin shook off the horror of fighting his best friend and began to fight Kelly.

"This can't be." Cale said as his heart dropped past his stomach. Cale had dreaded his feelings of Doug's truth. In his heart, he had seen the change in Kelly's behavior, but had ignored it because at least she was back. He had brought all this upon himself by doing the spell without a proper witch. Before he could do anything, Doug was at his side.

"How do we reverse this?" Doug asked, "I couldn't find the spell."

Cale reached into his jacket and pulled out a piece of ripped paper, "Repeat this." He said, "Osiris, custode delle anime, chiediamo che commerciate un'anima con un altro, prendiamo l'anima legittima in moda da poterli trovare noi la pace. Osiris, mi porta l'anima dell'un amore di I!"

Doug chanted the spell over and over with Cale and felt his body illuminate with power and suddenly Kelly, who had Austin in a headlock, fell the floor. Her eyes snapped shut and you could see her eyes moving and suddenly it all stopped. Cale felt his entire body go numb, then Kelly's eyes flew open. Cale sighed in relief.

-

I sat in my bedroom, thinking about the past few hours, Hell, thinking about the last few months. I was afraid to face her. Put me in an arena with a horde of demons and I could fight with the best of them but give me a real-life situation and I freeze. It was the situation that really got to me.

"Are you meditating?" Kelly said at the door, "Because I could come back."

"No." I said, standing, "No...I just...I didn't hear you come in."

"Sorry." Kelly said, "I'll knock next time."

"No." I sighed, "Look, I'm just...afraid."

"Of what?" Kelly asked, "Me?"

"Yeah." I said, "You should have never been in the middle of the battle."

"I decided to be there." Kelly said.

"And look how it turned out for you." I said.

"What happened to me happened after the fight." Kelly said.

I had never thought of it before, but she was right.

"I watched, you know, and I know you were the first one to know that that bitch wasn't me." Kelly said, "It wasn't your fault, none of this is."

"I don't know why not." I uttered.

"Because we follow you on our own. You never put a gun...or stake, to my head and make me do anything. I'm with you until the end." Kelly said, "Not even a little ole' coma's going to keep me from helping you."

"It's dangerous." I said.

"If you can die, I can die too." Kelly said.

I hugged her, "I was so scared." I said, "I can't lose you."

"You won't." Kelly said, "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."

"Things are about to get really bad." I said.

"I know, sweetie, I know." Kelly said.

Across town, below town...

"They've restored the girl." The Master said, turning to Charity, "I thought I told you I wanted her dead!"

Charity looked at him fearfully.

"You failed." The Master said, turning.

"Maybe it was you who failed." Charity said.

The Master turned, "What did you say you insolent little...argh!" he groaned as something tore into his shoulder blade, it was a blade. He looked back at the vampire who had done it and flew towards him! The Master had him by the throat and prepared to break his neck when he felt something tear into his neck. He couldn't move and he felt himself being drained! Before the last drop of his blood could be drained, he fell to the ground.

Charity licked the blood from her lips and bent down, "You see, Master, we think there's serious need for some new blood. You might have been the Big Bad back in the day, but now, it's our time."

"Your...time." The master managed to rasp.

"You see, I've got all this power. The knowledge of a Slayer, the power of a vampire, and one Hell of a wardrobe." Charity said, pulling out a stake, "Never leave home without it." She said, staking the Master.
