This story is fiction. If your under 18 you should not be here, or reading this. When Nick Lachey Found The One Nick Lachey would never be caught at a Starbucks on open mic night. Hell, he didn't need to, for he was a star already with a record label living the high life. He had stopped in for a cup of coffee and was blind sided by the event. He tried to keep a low profile for fear of being recognized at the event and being splashed on the tabloids. He could hear a man being introduced behind him but he did not pay much attention he only wanted his coffee and to leave. He did not pay much attention ot the music leaving the speakers as he handed the man behind the counter his cash, but when the mans voice left his body Nick could do nothing but listen. He had a calm vibe to him as he stood at the microphone hesitantly. He was very dressed down in a gray hoodie, blue jeans, and white reebok shoes. His voice was very calm and powerful as he did not push it to far for his vocal range. "Because the way we kiss is better then any drug, because when im with you I believe in love." He was smooth and delightful as he was very humble. He smiled to the man playing guitar and laughed slightly as he let his voice curl into his listeners ears. "Cause you take chances most people will never take, You go out on a limb and your not afraid to break. And it gives me faith. I thought i'd never find someone as crazy as myself, no matter what I've done you always come when i cry for help." He stood on his toes slightly as he pushed out the last note with strength. Nick was in a daze as he watched the man belt out his thoughts that formed to words. " That's why I love you.... and that's why I love you. Theirs no one in this world, anything like you." Nick felt that the man was singing his mind, that he knew exactly what he was thinking at that moment. "Cause the times i hurt you always understand, because you cure me with the sweet touch of your hand. Cause your not afraid to come off like a fool. Without trying baby you'da find the truth. It makes me laugh. I thought id never find someone who can see through my eyes You always know when im telling the truth and when im telling lies." He always seemed to have a bit of trouble with the last note by his actions whether it be tapping of his foot or tapping his chest, his voice had no signs of any trouble though. He ran through the bridge with just as much ease as before and had no trouble into the next chorus. The environment was very pleasant that night as all the songs happened to be very mellow and his was no different. "That's why I love you. That's why I love you. Theirs no one in the world, anything like you. That's why I love you. That's why I love you. There's no one in this world, anything like you. That's why i love you." He smiled as the band played for a few seconds longer then stopped slowly. The crowd cheered and whistled at his performance as he shyly walked off the stage in joy. "Ok guys if you like it put some money in the bucket if not, don't." A mellow black man said as he stood where the man once did. Nick was in speechless as he clapped his hands loudly. He had not caught the mans name and was angry at himself for it. "Hes great ain't he?" Another man asked behind the counter as he handed him his cup of coffee. "What's his name?" Nick asked while still watching the man talk to a few people around him. "John.... John Tanner." The guy said as he walked away from Nick and his thoughts. Nick stuck around that night trying to build up his courage to talk ot the man. He watched him count the money he made, laugh and joke with he other singers, or just curl up in one of the big chairs and watch someone else. Nick liked his calm exterior and wanted to help him. He watched as he slowly started to walk out of the starbucks with a guitar slung over his shoulder and sleep written on his face. Nick decided it was now or never. He had to talk to this man or he would have no purpose in life. "Um John?" Nick asked as they man opened the starbucks door. He turned around in shock as he had not expected anyone. "Yes?" he asked as he looked up at Nick. He was suddenly in surprise as he saw who it was standing in front of him. Nick Lachey was actually talking to him, he had to keep it cool though, he was not 15 anymore. "I think you have a great voice, the song was amazing too." Nick was shy with his approach and he rubbed his shoe lightly on the ground as he kept eye contact with the young boy. "Thanks!" John smiled as he knew a singing compliment from anyone was great but from Nick Lachey was astonishing. John just smiled his shy side was overcoming him. "I wonder if you would let me help you...." Nick choked up at this point. He knew some artist were defense about record labels. "With what?" John questioned with confusion. " Well a record deal." That night seemed to go by in a whirlwind. John was in shock as he heard Nick tell him what they could do together, the dreams Nick had for him were amazing. He told him of Jive records and the money he could earn. John was very hesitant at first though, he did not want to be thrown into some big label, he wanted to write music and just be happy. See his album in stores and someone buy it, be a role model in some sort. John was not going to tell Nick that though, he was lucky someone had taken an interest and he didn't want that taken away from him. "So tomorrow well go to the Jive offices?" Nick asked with a glowing face. His voice was chipper and cheerful John nodded smiling. "all right ill meet ya here at 9 tomorrow?" Nick asked finishing up their long conversation. This was the boy who he was so nervous to talk to, to just meet. He was very confident when singing and was very laid back but when he sat across from him he was uneasy and very unconfident. He dodged every compliment Nick had for him and brought himself down every once and a while. He nodded as he stood and grabbed his guitar once again. "I'll see ya tomorrow then.." he said shyly as he turned and left the coffee house for good that night. Nick wished he hadn't left though. It was a new feeling for him, love at first sight... but for men? 'No im not gay...' Nick washed away his thought with another sip of his coffee and he two left to step into the peaceful night. Morning was not very easy for Nick as he had woken up several times in the past night. Nightmares shook his mind set many times as he was not able to stay sleep longer then two hours at a time. He also had to be up early to take his new companion to the Jive Offices in Los Angeles. He did not favor the trip but he felt the man and his talent were worth it. The light was still to bright for his blue eyes as he drove down a small street in a deep red BMW though. It wasn't until later that day in a small studio at Jive offices that he remembered why he had taken the effort. It was when a cd played of Johns song at the starbucks on 6th street. Straight faced executives, men and a few woman, sat around a table with concentration. They showed not an ounce of emotion as the sound of a mans voice entered their ears with ease. Once the song ended they did no different, they didn't even speak. The silence was crippling to two men who did not really belong in the room, or at the offices at all. "Well?" He did not like the silence and it was killing his dreams for his new found friend slowly. Nick Lachey was never good with these people and today was no different. "What do you want to do with an album?" Nick was ignored as the president directed his attention to John. To be continued.... Thanks guys, would love criticism or compliments. Any thoughts or ideas of where you think it should go would be great too. Autobiography65@aim.com John
