Ok, guys, all the disclaimers apply, that means all thanks goes to Marvel

For the X-Men, I'm just making the story. And I do read all the other

Stories and they're great, keep up the good work. They inspire me!

Chapter 53: Break-Out

As I awoke in the infirmary, I felt a sudden familiarity. I wished that it was all a dream that nothing in the last few days had happened. I tried to move my arms, but couldn't. I opened my eyes and saw that I was in a straight jacket.

"Help!" I shouted, "Somebody help me!"

Professor X: Calm yourself.

"Let me out of here!" I shouted.

Professor X: I have something disturbing to show you.

"Hurry." I said.

I ran out of the room and into Josh's office and saw him slumped over on the table. I ignored the warning signs and ran and bent down next to Josh, searching for a pulse and that's when I noticed the blood and the deep cuts on his body.

"You won't find a pulse." Sebastian Shaw's voice called, "Not on him, anyways."

"You son of a bitch!" I yelled turning to him. Donald Pierce tried to hide his bloody hand. I sent him flying backwards and as soon as he left the ground, I felt something push me out of the room and I fell on my back, looking up.

"I am truly sorry; Sabretooth does get a little starved." Sebastian Shaw said, his cold features staring down at me.

I rolled out of the way and took a stance, noticing how rusty I was, "You...he just killed." I said, trying to run past him, but a tongue flew out of nowhere and slapped me across the hall!

"Ah, ah, ah." Selene said, waving his finger.

"What do you want?" I asked, holding my right cheek.

Sebastian Shaw threw Selene an angry look, "You have tampered with our minds, we were under the impression that you were dead."

"I know." I said, "It's part of disappearing."

"Such a powerful act, did you attempt it alone?" Sebastian shaw asked.

"None of your business." I said, my heart breaking, "I need to get to Josh. I need to get his pulse going."

Sebastian Shaw turned his back to me, looking at the pictures in the hallway, "You love this, such humble surroundings. This normal life makes you happy?" he asked, turning to see my anger, "Not anymore."

Suddenly, my mind was overloaded. The feelings had overcome me and the straight jacket loosened and fell to the floor.

"Are you alright?" Professor Xavier asked, Scott and Logan at either of his side.

I stood, "Where are they?" I asked.

"Relax, you're weakened." Professor Xavier said.

Across the room, a computer screen blew up, "They killed my husband." I said slowly.

Great Pain.

"You're lucky we don't skin ya, kid." Logan growled, "After what you pulled."

"You're lucky I don't turn you into a soup can." I said, "Where are they!"

"We do not know." Professor Xavier said.

"You know." I said.

"Pane." Scott took a step forward.

I telekinetically threw him backwards, "One way or another, you're going to spill those secrets." I said, looking into his eyes. I travelled through his brain, searching the recesses of his memory until I found the information I needed.

Professor struggled with keeping me out, "You will stop!" he said quickly.

"Daddy's home." I said, hurling Logan and Scott against the wall! I walked past Xavier, who tried to get into my mind. I walked to the elevator.

Professor X: All X-Men! Pane is on the loose and is highly dangerous, all students to their room and be on guard!

As I got to the ground floor, the door opened and Beast, Gambit, Rogue, Storm, Emma, Colossus, Iceman, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and the new X-Men stood, waiting for me. At the sight of me, everyone looked as if they had seen a ghost. The look on Bobby's face was the worst. He had all these emotions and I felt them.

"Stand out of the way." I said angrily.

"Pane, think about this." Storm said, "We can help you."

"Right about now my hair and clothes are probably," I looked down at the black clothes I had donned, "Yep, black."

"Pane." Iceman said, "It's Bobby."

I paused, just for a second, but in that second of hesitation, something happened, "Bobby, don't..."

"I remember what you told me." Bobby said, "I can help you."

"They killed him and blamed it on Magneto." I said, "They deserve what's coming to them."

"You don't believe that," Bobby said, "You know better than this."

"I gave my life and never asked for anything but my life back and they took it." I said, "They took it and broke it into pieces and I don't know why."

"I know and it's not fair..."

The elevator shook slightly, "Fair?! Bobby, they killed him. He's innocent! He died because he knew me and he's in the ground now." I said angrily, "They wanted me back in the game, they got me. They went into my mind."

"You went into our minds, suga." Rogue said.

"I did what I did out of love." I said.

"Let me help you." Bobby said, "I love you."

I stared at Bobby. My defenses were starting to fall.

We can take them.

"But it won't bring him back." I said.

"No, it won't." Storm said.

I stepped out of the elevator, walking over to Bobby, who hugged me tight.

-

As I stepped out of the shower, I stood in front of the mirror. I looked at my hair, which was noticeably darker and my eyes were still kind of black. The steam made it more real. Professor X had explained that when he found me after Josh's funeral. I was apparently babbling to myself about the clone. There was no clone. They had taken me after my talk with Rae. Professor assured me that the clone was nowhere and that it was my fear. I couldn't stop thinking about that being my greatest fear. As I walked back into my room, I stopped at the sight of Bobby, who was holding a picture of Josh and me.

"He was a doctor." I said, causing Bobby to turn around, "His name was..."

"Josh, Scott told us." Bobby said, "Sorry about just coming in, but your door was open, I just figured..."

"Don't apologize, you're in now." I said slowly, "He was...I love him."

"I'm sorry." Bobby said.

"Me too." I said softly, "He is...was, such a good man."

"I don't know what to say." Bobby said.

I went and sat on my bed, "We were going to be together forever." I said.

"Pane." Bobby said.

"Yes." I asked.

"You remember when...when we..."Bobby started.

Professor Xavier: All available X-Men to the War Room.

"I've got to go." Bobby said, standing.

I stood too, "I'm coming too." I said.

"Are you sure..."

"I'm an X-Man." I said, "Like it or not." I said, sliding on a shirt and pants and leaving with Bobby.

-

As we walked in, all eyes turned to us. I averted my gaze and walked over to a seat.

"Should he be here?" Emma asked.

Everyone looked at her.

"I just mean, after everything the boy's been through..." Emma continued.

"I'm not a boy." I said, "And I'm still an X-Man."

"You've just been through something deeply traumatic." Emma said.

"As much as I hate to admit it," Ororo said, "Emma is right."

"It's my choice and I choose to fight." I said quickly.

Professor Xavier cleared his throat, "Welcome back, Pane." Xavier said, his face was dire, "There has been an attack on Crossmore."

"What is Crossmore?" I asked.

"It's a prison for super-powered villains." Scott said, "Most villains at least pass through there."

"This attack, what happened?" Ororo asked.

"I do not know, all we know at this point, Ororo, is that a mass of villains are on the loose...inside Crossmore."

"So, someone went through the trouble of busting them out and they wanted to stay in?" Kitty asked, "Hey, Pane."

"Hey." I said, "Seems fishy."

"Fishy?" Logan said, "I smell a trap."

"We need a team." Professor said.

"I'm in." Logan said, sliding on gloves.

"I think I should go." Scott said.

"As shall I." Ororo said.

"I'm going." I said.

"Are you sure that's wise?" Emma asked.

"I've got some major aggression pent up." I said slowly.

"But, maybe a more experienced X-Man." Emma suggested.

"I'll stay with him at all times." Bobby said.

"Very well then," Xavier said, "We leave in five minutes."

I stood up and followed Bobby out of the door.

"What are you doing?" Scott asked.

"Haven't you heard, Scotty, I'm back on the team." I said.

"But this is dangerous." Scott said, "I won't be able to protect you."

"Some Hellfire Club took the one thing that meant the most to me. When I find them, they will pay." I said angrily, "In the mean time, I'll just have to settle for some other villain." I said, walking away with Bobby.

"Looks like the kid isn't a kid anymore." Logan said.

"That's what I'm afraid of." Scott said.

-

Chaos reigned over Crossmore. The building had lost power and the guards had been wiped out and the prisoners were running around everywhere. The guard, Mara Tuscan, was the only person left, as far as she knew. She pulled the gun from her holster. They had been issued weapons, but were told to use them only in emergencies. This was an emergency. She began to sneak away when she felt an intense feeling and fell to the floor.

Vertigo smiled to herself as she neared the woman, "You should not have imprisoned me here." She said quickly.

"It's what happens to naughty kittens." I said as Storm struck her with lightning! She flew backwards and crashed against the wall, "Meow."

"You like to pun, don't you?" Storm asked.

"It gets me a kick." I said, "This place is...trashed."

"Understatement, bub." Wolverine growled.

We all took a step forward, but I stopped.

"What's wrong?" Bobby asked.

"Something's here." I said.

"A lot of stuff is here." Cyclops said.

"But, I know this." I said, thinking, "Be careful, something bad is going to happen."

"Something bad already happened." Wolverine said.

I nodded, "Have fun." I said, watching Wolverine run off.

"Stay with him, Bobby." Cyclops said.

"It's Iceman." I said, "And, yeah, keep up, blondie."

Storm chuckled as she flew off.

As we made our way through the complex, the empty cells were dim and drab. As we made our way down the darkened hallways, I was chilled deep down. Something was in this building. As I made my way down the hall with Bobby, a vent fell from the ceiling and in front of us stood Toad. I had a flashback, back to the office with Josh...

"You son of a bitch!" I said, throwing my hand forward and causing him to fly back and hit the metal bars, "Spill."

"I ain't saying a word." Toad croaked, "Have mercy."

"I'm sorry, I gave you the impression you had a choice." I said, moving towards him.

"What're you doing?" Bobby asked.

"I may not have much power, but I have just enough." I said, placing my fingers to his temple. I saw Cyclops and Storm fighting off something in the lower levels. Then Wolverine cutting in and he was swatted away. Toad saw all this from the vents, after he broke out. I whatever it was and it was big! Lightning, red beams, and claws are all I saw and then nothing, "What is it? What's down there?"

"A prisoner." Toad said.

"What prisoner!" I said through gritted teeth.

"Juggernaut." Toad said, "And he's got your friends."

"He's got friends of his own." Bobby said, looking ahead of me.

I looked up to see Lady Deathstrike, Avalanche, Gauntlet, Mystique, and Arclight. I looked at Bobby, who'd already gone into his ice form and I stood weakly.

"I can't take them in a fight, not right now." I said, "I might lose control."

"That's not a bad thing right now." Bobby said, "Stay behind me."

"I'm not letting you fight this one on your own." I said, grabbing hold of Bobby. I looked down at the floor and concentrated hard. My breathing began to quicken and suddenly, Bobby and I were falling through the floor! Bobby caught me in mid-drop and created an ice sled down to the bottom of the room.

"What was that?" Bobby asked.

"My powers are coming back." I explained, "It took a lot of power messing with people's memories, so my powers were temporarily gone for the last five years."

"That doesn't explain the floor disappearing." Bobby said.

"Jean's not the only one with power, did you forget?" I asked.

There was a rumble and I looked over my shoulder to see a large figure standing not far off. I stood by Iceman, feeling the bitter coldness of his ice form. The gigantic figure lifted its hand and threw something to the floor. The bodies of Storm, Cyclops, and Wolverine lay between Juggernaut and Bobby and I.

"I see you've finally joined us." That voice sent chills down my spine. It was that same dark voice that had haunted so many of my dreams.

"Yeah, well, without all that power, it's a little hard to get here." I said, looking around.

"You will never see me," Apocalypse laughed, "But I'll always be here."

"You hear him too, right?" I asked Bobby, who nodded.

"Finally, we shall meet again." Apocalypse said.

"I really need a new line-up of villains." I said, meaning every word.

"Dispose of them." Apocalypse said.

"Can you see him?" Bobby asked.

I shook my head, "He's gone." I said, "He's gonna get away."

Juggernaut smirked, then clapped his hands together as hard as he could, sending me and Bobby flying back into the wall! Juggernaut began to jog towards us, and then burst into a full sprint, then he began running.

I, shakily, made my way to my feet, but Bobby was out cold.

Pane: How do you stop something like him?

Take away his momentum.

I concentrated on Juggernaut as a whole, his speed, the particles that make him up and I imagined them slowing down, him slowing down and his speed slowed.

That a boy, now more!

My mind thought about it more, what if the particles stopped? What if he would have stopped? Suddenly, I was very tired. I almost fell off my feet when I felt something cold around my waist and arms. It was Bobby holding me up.

"You okay?" Bobby asked, looking from me to the Juggernaut, who was frozen in his footsteps.

Storm, Wolverine, and Cyclops had also made it back to their feet and were now at our side.

"I don't know how long it'll last." I said quickly.

"Can you lift the helmet?" Cyclops asked.

I tried to shake off the fatigue, but couldn't. I put my hand to my temple and the latches unlocked and the helmet flew across the room as Juggernaut began moving again, but Cyclops let loose with the beam and that was the end of Juggernaut's break-out.

§

"I would like to thank all the X-Men who helped with the mission." Professor said, "You are all dismissed."

As the rest of the X-Men left, Scott, Bobby, and I were left behind. Bobby reluctantly left the room, leaving Scott and I alone. Scott sat with an unreadable look on his face.

"I'm not sorry, for remaking history." I said.

"You're not?" he asked.

"I gave me a happy life and I gave you one." I said.

"Yeah, and you didn't think about what would happen when that happy life wore off, when we came back to our senses." Scott said, "Do you know how it felt to lose someone and at the exact same moment realize that you've lost someone else, someone who you were engaged to?"

"Actually, I do." I said.

"You just left, how could it have been that easy to just leave me?" Scott asked.

"Nothing in my life is simple!" I said, "Not anymore."

"Congratulations, now no one's life is simple." Scott said, "There were things everyone meant to do, to say, and they never got the chance."

"I was with the love of my life. You were with Jean. In short, everything was how it was supposed to be."

"But it wasn't what either of us wanted." Scott said, walking to the door, "You deleted us."

"I didn't mean to. I just wanted a normal life." I said.

"What is a normal life? Friends and family? You had that here..." Scott said, "You had me."

"Had?" I asked.

"Everything's changed and nobody real happy with you for what you did." Scott said, "It was selfish. Normal is two people who love each other."

"Who moonlight as superheroes?" I asked.

Scott didn't say another word, he just walked out.
