Cast of characters: Michael Timothy Headly -- That's me! (Sometimes ... Ronny) Spike -- (Diane, my big sister) Mary -- My mom Tom -- My father. Gilbert Blank -- Friend from Woodland Joey Gray -- Gilbert's "little brother" Bobby Pepper -- New friend Arlo Gates - Orienteer Randy Samson -- Arlo's roomie James Samson (Jay) -- Randy's adopted brother and ... My Twin! (Shawn) Blair -- New Roomie (Todd is his friend from high school) Jacky -- one of five brothers and a sister: Jared, Jed, Jimmy, Jock and Julie Jody -- Dude from Hurricane Harbor ... From Chapter 22: Jay came back to the podium and humbly said, "I want to thank my parents, and especially my most excellent example, My brother, Randy!" Then he got emotional and could not speak for a moment. He then said, "I love you, Ronny!" looking directly into my eyes -- directly into my spirit! "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. "AMEN!" Said everyone in the room at once! Chapter 23 I didn't know that my sweet twin brother was such a shining star to anyone else. To me he's my sweet twin -- as he said, my soul mate. But I now understand a little more why he feels so compelled to go on this mission. There are a lot of people who would be disappointed if he doesn't ... and maybe a lot of young people who he feels responsible as their example. What a burden. There was like a party after the graduation in the recreation hall just behind the chapel. In the earlier church setting, the people he goes to church with saw a little of me, but this was a much larger group and everyone seemed to know my brothers. I was getting to think more and more of Randy as my brother. People would come up to me and just stare! As I would be talking to one girl, another would come up and listen -- but mostly -- stare at my face, like she couldn't believe it. Of course they weren't there to talk to me. Jay was right beside me and very animated, as he fended off a ton of girls as if they were a gaggle of geese. I saw Randy, who at first was surrounded by his own admirers, but they had thinned and eventually he was standing near the stage -- alone -- with a cup of punch and a cookie in his hands. I broke free and walked over to him. He always wears his dark glasses outside the house, so I couldn't see his eyes. "I wish your sister was here!" Then he said, "Don't look at me like that!" As if he could see me! He grinned. "I know your smell! You're CK-One isn't all that unique -- lots of people use it, but -- DUDE! I SLEEP with you. Of COURSE I know your body's scent!" I took a quick look around, hoping no one was near when he said that. "I also heard your shoes squeak as you turned around. Sure are a lot of people talking about you!" "Me?" I said "Why?" "I'm sure no one missed the remark about you being a non-member. Ah yes! Close your eyes." "Close my eyes?" "Yeah! Can you hear it?" "What am I listening for? I can hear that a lot of people are talking -- and I can hear that they are at the other end of the hall." Can't you hear the soft padding of shoes coming this way -- no don't look yet! That sound is unique to Doc Martin Shoes. They are a favorite of the missionaries -- very comfortable and rugged and kind of boxy looking ... Hi Elders!" I opened my eyes and turned and there were two guys about my age in dark suits and ... boxy looking shoes! "Brother Samson! How nice to see you!" Said one of them sounding syrupy sweet. He was the shorter of the two, and kind of chubby. "Nice to be seen!" Said Randy, resignedly. "Oh -- um -- sorry! I -- um - " "It's okay, Elder! -- it's just an expression!" Said Randy. " I use it all the time myself. Nice to "see" you too." He added, extending his hand. Randy finally made a mistake. As he extended his hand, he momentarily forgot I was there and it went right into my crotch! I grabbed it and put it in the outstretched hand of the taller of the missionaries. "You probably thought that was an accident!" I quipped. "He's wanted to touch that all evening!" To my surprise both missionaries cracked up. "I'm Elder Winfield. This is my companion, Elder Harcourt." Said the chubby one. Elder Harcourt was about 3 inches taller than Elder Winfield, and scary thin. He had sandy blond hair, cut short -- which made it stand up all over his head. He had rectangular glasses which added to his vulnerable look. even at 3" taller, he still was a good four inches shorter than I, and I'm only 6'-1" tall. Elder Harcourt's look -- to me -- was like -- "Please come and take care of me." I wanted to! His face was delicate and when he was introduced, he smiled sweetly but it seemed like his step forward was rehearsed and like he wasn't all that sure of himself. I took his right hand in mine and covered it with my other. "Great to meet you, Elder Harcourt. I assume that you went through one of these graduations just recently." "Six years ago to be exact!" "Six!" I marveled. "How old are you?" He blushed deeply. "Elder Harcourt is a late bloomer." Said Elder Winfield. I was beginning to not like him. Elder Harcourt could answer for himself. Elder Winfield was assuming a look of superiority. "That's not true!" Said Elder Harcourt. "Elder! Elder Winfield!" We all turned and an older man was calling and beckoning to the short fat elder. He walked away. Immediately Elder Harcourt relaxed. "He really gets to you, doesn't he Elder?" Said Randy. The elder's eyes got glassy. "How do you know that stuff, Randy!" OHO! So He calls him Randy, whereas Winfield calls him Brother Samson. Randy smiled and took his dark glasses off. "I could hear you relax as soon as he walked away. I'm sorry, Elder, but I don't like that one!" "He's okay. He loves the Lord and -" "That's just so much B.S., Elder. If he loved the Lord so much, he wouldn't treat his companion like he does. But you're a good elder -- you have to live with him and you're doing the best you can. I love you Elder!" Elder Harcourt's eyes then overflowed and he almost flew in to Randy's arms. His face came barely to Randy's chest. "Harcourt has been in our ward for 3 months. Winfield transferred in last week." Randy said to me. "I really have grown to love this guy!" He said, rubbing his back. Elder Harcourt reluctantly pushed away and said, "I love you too, Randy! So your brother is adopted, huh? What a shock that must have been. I understand you guys didn't know!" He directed to me. "Believe it or not, my parents dropped it on me last year -- when I graduated from high school." "You're already out of school?" "Yeah, well we were born in December. I started school a year before my brother." "Ah! That explains why he has received his mission call even before his graduation! That's very unusual. I know that Jay is extraordinary, but there must have been some compelling reason they wanted to get him out early." "Uhhhm -- yeah, well, anyway" -- said Randy, obviously trying to change that subject. "Um -- so Elder Harcourt had leukemia. That's why he was a late bloomer, as his comp likes to say. He had to - " "Let's not sugar coat what is, Randy!" Said the thin Elder. "I got sick playing where I shouldn't have played. So it's partly my fault. But if I didn't get it, I might not have served a mission at all. It kind of brought me to my senses. Winfield is my superior, and he likes to keep reminding me how he did everything right." "Some day he'll learn that everything he does is wrong!" Said Randy bitterly "No! Don't defend him Elder! He's been out over a year. He needs to get over himself!" Elder Winfield was coming back. Harcourt left us and Randy said, remember I love you, Elder! So does Jay! So does everyone!" The elder turned again and hugged Randy close. "Brother Samson's blind --- not gay Elder Harcourt!" said Elder Winfield loud enough for anyone in the room to hear it. "Step away from the blind man!" Harcourt struggled to get free but Randy held him close. When Winfield got closer, Randy said, "Fuck you, Elder! Leave him alone ... and grow up!" "You don't know what you're talking about, Brother Samson! You're not so special to him, you know! He hugs everyone he can! That's so gay!" I could hear so much vitriol in his voice. "Nice, Elder!" Said Randy. "Nice example you have shown to my non—member friend here!" The fat elder sopped short and looked at me, then got red. "Oh! I mean -- I thought -- I mean -- you look so much like your -- I didn't - " I cut him off with, "Funny thing Elder!" I said. "Harcourt isn't the fat, baby faced Elder with the lisp!" But I said it shaking my head, more sadly than derisively. "I -- just - " he flubbered, "You -- just - " said Randy, imitating Elder Winfield perfectly, "get yourself away from us and find someone more naïve than we are to preen and spread your feathers for!" "C'mon Elder Harcourt!" said Winfield curtly. "No!" Said Randy taking a step forward. Winfeild flinched. "Elder Harcourt will stay here and try to repair the damage you have done to my brother here!" Winfield stood obstinately for a half second. Randy took one more step toward him. He turned and left, walking up to an older couple, smiling as if nothing had happened. "I'm gonna hear about this tonight!" said the thin Elder. "So is Elder White!" "You know Elder White?" Said Harcourt. "Yes," said Randy, "and I know he's your ZL. If you won't report that idiot, I will!" "ZL?" I said. "It's their Zone Leader. I have his cell number." "Um -- actually he's assistant to the President now!" "I see." I said. (I didn't!) "Anyway, Mikey, Not all Mormons are like Elder Winfield. Matter of fact, most aren't!" "How long have you been out -- um -- what should I call you?" "Call me Elder Harcourt ... or just Elder is fine. This is my first area. Elder Winfield really is a good trainer -- for me! It's teaching me early to get along with someone -- um - " "No one should have to get along with that turkey ... who thinks of himself as a peacock!" Said Randy. "Randy!" Pleaded the thin elder. "Okay -- I don't suppose I'm making it any easier for you.." "Don't worry about damage control for my sake. Elder." I said. "I won't be joining your church. I've been to some of the services and classes -- and it pretty much all makes sense too. But -- I'm gay. And as I understand it, I'd have to pretty much take a vow of celibacy if I joined your church." "You mean like Jay has?" Said the Elder. I was stunned! I swallowed hard. "Um -- er -- yeah -- uhhhm -- yeah!" I stammered. "How -- how -- how did you -- figure that out?!" "I didn't. Jay did." "Huh?" "He was the one that figured it out -- about me!" "Omigosh!" I exclaimed. "Did YOU know about this, Randy?" "Well -- yeah." "And -- was Jay the one who told you about ... me?" I asked the elder. "No, of course not. Jay would never do that!" he said. "You just told me, yourself." "Oh -- yeah! Hee hee! I guess I did. So how are you handling it?" "Handling what? "Being gay and on a mission -- having to be with another guy -- most of them pretty hot from what I've seen -- 24-7?" "Well, I have the example of the Apostle Paul. He probably was gay. He just kept himself -- as you said -- celibate." "And -- you think you can do that?" "I know the Lord loves me. I don't think it's an accident that I was paired up with Elder Winfield. My first comp was one of those hotties you referred to. Elder Scudders is both cute and hot -- and the nicest guy in the world! But he was no temptation for me -- because he is so straight. I'm doing everything I can to get myself ready for that ... one!" "One?" "Yeah, that one who is either gay too -- or is just a nice guy who has a weak moment. I've heard about elders getting dear johns from their girl who promised to wait for them. Sometimes they do some pretty outlandish things. And some elders might take advantage of them when they are weak. I don't think I will do that." "Randy and I -- may I tell him about us, Randy?" I asked. "Um -- well -- um -- Sure! Maybe I can tell him." said Randy nervously. "Go ahead." I said. "Well, Jay and I used to sleep together all the time. We never did anything, except once in awhile, I'd have a dream and wake up on top of him -- you know?" "N -- not exactly." "Uhhm -- heh -- Maybe you should have told him, Mikey! Anyway, without going into detail, I'd get off in my dream -- not really doing anything to my brother -- but what I didn`t know was that he liked it. We fell into a kind consenting arrangement -- that we never really talked about." "You mean -- you -- you -- excuse me -- but you -- um -- fucked his bum?" The elder whispered and then blushed deeply. "NO!" Exclaimed Randy. "We never did anything like that! I'd just get off between his legs." He let that sink in a moment. I saw the sweet elder look longingly at Randy. Randy continued: "Well, when I started sleeping with Mikey, he was so much like my brother, that I guess I started to do the same things to him -- in my dreams." "Wow!" "That was before I knew they were twins! THEY didn't even know!" "Double Wow!" "Anyway -- now we sleep together all the time -- me and Jay -- when I'm home -- and me and Mikey when at school. We don't ever do any of that any more." "So -- it CAN be done!" Said the elder exultantly. "It won't be easy!" Said Randy. "I know it won't!" "But if anyone can do it -- you will!" Said Randy" Elder Harcourt said, "Remember -- I'm 24 years old. I have a little advantage over some of these younger guys -- I hope!" "Elder -- um -- I was just um -- well, and you don't need to answer this but -- um -- " "Okay -- I think I know where this is going. I didn't really have leukemia. What I DID have I got from someone I didn't even know! It took me this long to go through the process." "The process?" I wasn't excommunicated, but as an unmarried young adult, there was a disciplinary counsel. It involved my bishop. It took me this long to get clean and to -- decide that what I wanted to do was serve God -- like Paul did." "It's jerks like Winfield - " "It's GUYS like Elder Winfield -- who are helping me to refine myself -- it's not between him and me -- it's between me and my Savior." "Have you told Jay about this?" Asked Randy." "I don't normally talk about it. I've never told anyone as much as I've told you two tonight. "I just have a lot of confidence that you won't tell anyone else. The prez knows -- that's all that matters." "WILL you tell Jay?" I asked. "If Jay asks -- I will. But I'd rather you not tell him -- he needs to want to ask me -- on his own." "The jerk is coming back!" Said Randy. "How could you tell?" asked Harcourt.. "I can hear his Doc Martins! Listen!" We both listened. This time I DID hear it! "Let's go Elder!" Said Elder Winfield, curtly. As they walked away, Randy said, "I'm STILL calling White!" As they were leaving I heard, "What's he calling the AP about, Elder?" "Nothing, Elder. Don't worry about it!" We had talked long enough that the crowd was thinning down a lot. I'm sure that everyone left us alone, because when a Missionary is talking to an "investigator" they probably like to let him have his space. But now that the elders were gone, Jay -- and a few straggling girls came over. We headed out to the parking lot and ... the girls followed! They didn't want to let Jay out of their sight! Ignoring them, Jay said, "Did you get any refreshments, Mikey?" "I'm okay. I had a good talk with Elder Harcourt." Jay looked strangely at me, then said, "That's why Mom and Dad didn't come over ... you looked like you were really into whatever you were talking about. Well, (Yawn) it's been a long day!" Then he looked directly at the girls. "See you later, girls!" They started walking away, but constantly looking back at the Jay, Randy and me. The he turned to me and said, "Do you have to go back to school tonight? Mom'll be disappointed if you don't come back home with me for awhile." "Yeah -- this is finals week. I'm ready, but I should get back anyway -- in case the jock-boys need some last minute help. Tell your mom I'm sorry." "Okay. See you -- um -- are you going back to California for the summer? "We -- um -- haven't had much time to talk, have we?" I said. "I'm staying at least long enough to spend some time with you, Shawnie!" For that I got a hug and another kiss on the lips -- a little more lingering than the one he gave me up at the pulpit. That got a rise out of the girls! "I love you too, Ronny!" "I love you too ... `Ronny'!" Parroted Randy. "That's our own names for each other, Rand ... " "Sorry -- I knew that, but I heard your lips -- um -- smacking. I was just a little jealous!" I flew into Randy's arms and planted a mushy kiss on his lips. The girls really howled at that! "That'll give `em something to talk about all summer!" laughed Randy. "I'll maybe see you in the morning, otherwise tomorrow night. Diane and I are planning something -- maybe -- that you might want to hear about!" He grinned under his dark glasses. As soon as I arrived home I called My sis. "Hey, Di -- so -- what are you and the Rand-man plannin'?" "He didn't tell you?" "Nope!" "Good -- he wasn't supposed to -- until we decide for sure!" "What is it ... what is it?" I whined. "You're just gonna have to wait -- like everyone else!" "Di-AAAAAAAAANE!" I said in the gayest tone I ever heard come out of my mouth! "Nope! My lips are sealed!" She said. So, just to be vindictive, I said, "Speaking of lips, I gave you're fiancée a passionate kiss tonight!" "Did he close his eyes?" "He had his dark -- oh, Spike! You know he can't see me!" "He probably was thinking of me! Thanks for giving him a little of what I can't right now! I'm sure you enjoyed it as much or more than he did." I was disappointed that I got no rise from my sister. I should have known! "You're no fun at all! Actually Jay was standing right beside us. I kissed him first!" "Well our plans actually involve -- um -- nope! TMI! Gotta stop right there!" She said. "You -- you -- Suck!" I exclaimed. "Maybe someday -- I'm not ruling it out!" "You're sick!" "That too! Is that all you called about?" "No!" I said, sounding snippier than I realized. "But if you're not telling me your news -- I'm not telling you mine!" I actually had no news, but it was a last ditch effort. "It's okay, if it has anything to do with you, Jay or Randy ... he'll tell me tonight!" "You! You really DO suck!" "And lookin' forward to it!" She said. "Love you, my sweet little poofter! G'night!" I went into the study to check on my two jock housemates. They were both asleep at their desks. "Blair -- Todd!" I whispered, not to scare them. Nothing. I went to Blair and squeezed his shoulder. "Blair!" He raised up and blinked. "That's not my -- oh! Yeah -- I mean -- huh?" "Wha -- wha -- what's goin' on, Shawnie?" Said Todd. "No -- I'm -- um what?" I said, confused that either of them should know our other names. "Actually I'M Shawn. Rod -- er -- Todd and I had to change our names when we moved here." Said Blair. "We had to change our identity! Those guys back home really ruined our lives for living anywhere anyone knows us." Todd's eyes widened and he said, "Shawn! I mean -- um -- Blair! What the hell are you - " "It's okay, - um -- Todd. We HAVE to get used to calling each other by our new names! Mike knows what happened to us." "If I ever DO go back there, those ass holes are gonna wish they never lived!" "No ... TODD! We agreed -- no more violence. We were the ones to humiliate THEM! They just got even the only way they knew how." "I HATE living this way! I hate having a different name. I HATE having to dye my hair every month!" "Your hair is easy! You just have to shampoo the color in! Mine has to look like a natural blond! I have to pay 75 bucks every time I go for a touch up!" "What -- what's all this?" I asked. "I told you -- about those guys that we -- TODD and me -- bullied -- and how they got even! We had to leave town because of all the coverage of us doing -- um -- stuff -- on the internet! But we found that leaving town wasn't enough! We had to change our names and ... our hair color! It's amazing how many people -- mostly guys, but some girls -- even straight guys -- get off watching what they did to us -- really hard core porn! It's still on there!" "Yeah! Those ass holes ruined our lives! I'd like to - " "TODD! Calm down. You know as much as me that we both got into that stuff -- once we admitted it to ourselves! And -- if not for them, we'd have never admitted our love for each other! So let it go dude -- please?" Blair started out strongly authoritarian but ...the last part of his plea was sweet and loving. "I -- I -- know -- but -- I get so -- pissed sometimes!" I learned from that ... that Todd was somewhat of a loose cannon. To be wary of him. I always had that suspicion, but now it seemed a fact. "Anyway ... do you guys need any help with anything?" Did I really need to ask? I spent the rest of the night helping them to cram! Gosh I'm glad I never do that! It was hard enough staying awake for my physiology exam the next day. Luckily, it was all I had. When I cam home, I went straight to my room and crashed. I woke up to Randy shaking me. "Mikey -- MIKE! Wake up." I looked into his eyes -- eyes that he couldn't look back into mine with, and which I felt a little sad about. A little sad, because when I first came here, Randy still had the ability to make his eyes expressive to some degree. And when he'd turn his head, his eyes would naturally follow. But more and more, as his other senses grew keener and keener, his eyes lost their spark. I was glad he couldn't hear the tears that welled in my eyes. "Hi Rand! Wassup?" I said. "It's Todd and Blair. They didn't want to bother you, but -- I knew you'd probably hate yourself if you didn't help them." "You know me better than anyone else -- well, maybe except for one." I pulled him down onto the bed and climbed on top of him. I kissed him deeply. "That was from Diane!" I said. "Wow! Well, THIS is for you!" And he kissed me even more passionately. "I hope we'll always be kissing brothers!" Randy called for some pizza, as I spent another long night helping my new buff friends pass their classes. I came into the bedroom and woke him up in time for class Tuesday morning. "Aww -- you haven't slept have you?" He said. "I hope you can survive your exam today." "It's English lit. I could actually just about do it in my sleep!" I said, my eyes burning from lack of sleep. "Take care of yourself, Bro! Thanks for waking me! Then he reached up to me for a hand. When he felt mine, he dragged ME down and hopped on top of me. I was too tired to resist -- even if I had wanted! He dry humped me good and then kissed me deeply again. "I guess we're even, huh?" I quipped. "Yeah -- but don't worry! There's always next time!" He said. He got off me, stretched and dropped his jams, and I saw his magnificent bone that moments earlier was humping my own soft, mushy -- too-tired-to-care piece of flesh. Seeing that -- and his behind flex as he walked out of the room made a small tingle "down there" ... but that was all. Finals week turned into Hell week for me. I slept a little each afternoon. I was happy when Randy's dad came to pick us up for Jay's graduation. I was so proud of my brother! He wasn't the valedictorian or the salutatorian speaker, but he still got top honors for his grades and for sustaining honorable sportsmanship in his wrestling. We all cheered -- plus a big group of girls in another place in the bleachers! When we got back to the Samson house, Jay and Randy got me alone in their bedroom. Randy said, "We didn't want to take anything away from Jay's day, so we aren't going to make this announcement until later, but -- well -- I'll let Jay tell you." I looked at Jay expectantly -- even somewhat hopefully. He read my mind! "Oh, Mikey! Bro, I'm sorry -- it's not what you are hoping! It's about Randy and Diane. They have decided to get married before I go to Australia so I can be part of the wedding." "What?" I said -- "Oh! So it isn't -- um -- oh! Okay! Great!" I tried not to sound as disappointed as I felt. "I mean -- yay! Um -- great! How do your parents feel?" "They don't even know yet! We wanted you to know first." Said my twin. "I shouldn't have said anything to you last week -- I'm sorry!" Said Randy. "I hope your happy for us!" "You know I am!" I said, hugging him. Jay went behind as hugged him from the other side. At the same time, Jay's hands were caressing my neck. "And what WILL your parents say?" "Well, theyll be disappointed." "Why!!??" I asked. "They'd rather we did it the Mormon way -- and -- wait for a year after Diane joins the church -- so we can get married in the Temple." "I don't get it." "In the temple we get married for eternity." "And ... ?" "Other churches -- always say, `Until death', as part of the ceremony. In essence they decree your divorce when you get married. In the Temple, you are married for eternity -- no `death-do-us-part' thing." Explained Randy. "And - um -- but -- you can't do that ... why?" "Because Diane has to be in the church a year before going to the temple." "But- once she CAN go -- can't you just go and get remarried in the Temple -- like that?" "Yes." "I still don't get it!" I said. "It's a Mormon thing!" "Okay -- so the bottom line is that you will be getting married this summer some time. Great! So ... then you two can just both attend university together as married students?" "Not exactly. Diane will be quitting to support me while I finish up." "Oh!" I said. Again I could not hide my disappointment. "Mikey -- we just couldn't wait!" "I -- see. Okay -- well -- okay!" I smiled. "At home we have an all-night-party. Do you have one here?" "Yeah -- but I'm not going." "Hmh!" I chuckled. "I didn't go to mine either!" "A lot of kids lose their virginity at those parties!" Said Randy. The church -- at least here -- doesn't encourage us to go." "Hmh!" I smiled and chuckled again. "What?" Said my twin. "I didn't go the all-night-party ... and kind of lost my virginity anyway! Or at least some of my innocence!" "I guess I've already lost mine ... and I'm glad it was you!" Said Jay. I looked at him and his eyes were full of tears. I felt what he was feeling -- a deep longing that we both knew we may never fill. We looked at each other for an extended time, when Randy put his hand on each of our backs and brought us together -- then left the room, closing the door.
