Their baggage was loaded and the limo took off. "I'm assuming they are staying at the convention center?" "The penthouse if I heard correctly." "Think he's putting on a show to try to intimidate me?" "Always possible I suppose, but I don't think he had any idea of your schedule." "You knew when he was supposed to be here." "Only because I checked the arrivals board when I got here. So let's get you boys home. Do you want me to pick you up in the morning or get to the meeting on your own?" "We'll get there on our own, though Karl won't be attending the meeting." "Then I'll meet you in the business center of the hotel at 8:30 just to be on the safe side." "Has anything been brought to light that I should know about before we get into it?" "Not so much in the way of information as to what to expect from Mr Trenton. It's been said that he doesn't like beating around the bush. So, he is likely to make direct statements, and ask specific questions. I'm assuming that it is not your intention to enflame the situation Dennis so I'm recommending straight talk." "Has there been any mention of Thomas?" "Only that we were looking for him." "Good. He wants to remain out of the picture for the time being." "You've been in contact with him?" "Only by email and until recently only when he saw fit. There haven't been any ...substantive discussions as yet." "Well, please inform me if and when there are." "Absolutely." Karl and I were soon dropped off at the house and after deposting our bags in the bedroom, headed over to Karls house. We were through the back door and promptly tackled by Bobbie. The rest of the family came into the kitchen and gave us hugs and handshakes. They had waited supper for us so we sat down and ate. "So Dennis, what do you hope to get out of this meeting tomorrow?" "I'm hoping to find out what he expects of me Stan, what his motives are for being so hot to meet me." "And if it is only to get to know a son he never knew he had?" "Then we don't have a problem. Beyond that we'll just have to wait and see." "I expect a full report tomorrow night." "Depending on what time we finish up it might have to wait until Sunday morning." "Fair enough." Dinner was soon finished and after a little horseing around with Bobbie, Karl and I headed over to our house. "We going to surprise Aaron and Roland in the morning?" "Yeah so that by the time we get to the meeting you'll be wide awake and ready to rumble so to speak." "Then we might just as well crash out early lover." We hit the bedroom and pleasured each other before I cuddled into Karls shoulder and went soundly to sleep. Saturday morning and the alarm was in our ears. So we were up and out and the look on Aarons and Rolands faces were priceless. "What in the name of hell are you guys doing here?" "We missed your smiling faces?" "Bullshit Dennis, what gives?" "Remember I had the lawyers looking for my twin brother?" "Yeah." "Well they found a bit more than that. They turned up my biological father. I'm having a meeting with him in a couple of hours." "Is that the smart thing to do Den?" "It is from my standpoint Aaron. I've got other things to deal with. I at least get this started and it's not worrying me so much the end of the month with a meet staring me in the face." "Yeah well I guess I can see where you're coming from. Well let's get this taken care of." So our laps were run and Karl and I got back to the house and hit the shower and grabbed a little breakfast. Then it was out to the garage and a quick check over of "Baby" and Karl and I were on our way to the conference center. We arrived a few minutes early and Mr Jacobs came in right on our heels. I noticed he was alone. "No stenographer?" "No I'm afraid Mr Trenton didn't want one present. He's not all that happy that I am going to be there but can understand the caution." "I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but we will find out shortly. Karl, don't go too far." "I'll be waiting out here for you lover." Mr Jacobs and I headed into the conference room. It wasn't overly large and the table was fairly small as well with high back chairs around it. At 8:55 the conference room door opened and there were two gentlemen standing there. I recognized Mr Trenton with no problem. When his eyes landed on me a slight smile turned up the corners of his mouth. Right up until this moment I had been fine, but now there were butterflies beating at the walls of my stomach. Mr Trenton came right to me. "Oh there's no denying you're Emilys son. You have her cheekbones." "Mr Trenton, I'm Mr Sawyers attorney Mr Jacobs. We spoke on the phone." "Indeed Mr Jacobs, and this is Mr Atwater head of my legal department. Well I'm sure we each have any number of questions so shall we get to this?" "Mr Trenton, what can you tell me of my mother?" "Please call me Daniel. I met your mother on a school trip to Paris. We were from different schools mind you, but on the same packaged tour." His eyes drifted a bit at that point and a small smile crossed is face. He was obviously reliving a memory. Soon enough he was back with us. "She was an only child, as am I, so there aren't any other aunts or uncles out there for you to worry about. Emilys parents have long since passed as have my parents. Your mother had a beautiful soul. She was lighthearted and enjoyed life. Well we hit it off very well and one thing led to another. Soon enough though the trip was over. We kept in touch for a couple of months, but she stopped returning my letters. I thought she had simply met someone else. I had absolutely no idea that you existed Mr Sawyer." "Dennis. I had no idea either until last Christmas that I had been adopted. So, I need to ask, why so hot for this meeting?" "I've recently been reminded that none of us are promised tomorrow." There must have been a look go across my face. "I'm fine Dennis. It was a dear friend that passed. Now let me put what I am sure is the topmost question in your mind to rest. I have no designs on your money or any other of your holdings. I merely wanted to get to know the son I never knew I had. Please, tell me a bit about you." His posture was straight and his arms open and resting on the table. It told me that he was most likley speaking truth, at least as he saw it. "As I'm sure you know I'm currently in college getting certified for my brokers license. I am married and my husband and I are very happy together. I'm into gymnastics and on the team at school and it looks as though our squad will once again be at the allstate chanpionship competition this year. The team took Gold last year and I had a silver for all around best performance." "Not a sport I have a lot of interest in. Do you intend to carry on with this after you graduate?" "I don't intend to keep competeing, but haven't yet decided just how I am going to stay involved with the sport. I do have a business to run and I'd hate to see one suffer for the other." Which got me a nod of agreement. "Yes I was given to understand that your adoptive father left you a rather successful brokeage business. As to your marriage, you and Mr Holtz are happy?" "More than we have any right to be I am sure." "And that is the important thing. Shall I be meeting him today?" "He is somewhere about so it is not impossible." It went on for a couple of hours, likes, dislikes. Of course we didn't have any mutual friends that we knew of. "Dennis, my wife and sons are upstairs. Will you and Mr Holtz join us for lunch?" "Let me see if he is agreeable." I stepped away from the table and called Karl. "How you holding up Den?" "Doing just fine. We have a lunch invitation with Daniel and his family." "Daniel? Getting a little chummy aren't you lover?" "Maybe but that is what he has asked me to call him. You can back out of this if you want to Karl." "First tell me your read on the guy." "He just wants to know his son as far as I can tell. It's obvious to me he had real feelings for my mother. He claims to have no other interests than getting to know me, and I believe him." "Ok lover, I'm going to have to trust you on this one. Shall I come to you?" "Yeah, it's conference room C." "On my way." There was shortly a knock on the door and I went and opened it for Karl. "Daniel Trenton, my husband Karl Holtz." "A pleasure Mr Holtz." They exchanged what appeared to me to be firm handshakes. "Mr Trenton pleased to meet you." "Well I took the liberty of booking one of the private dining rooms and I believe my family is awaiting us. Mr Atwater, Mr Jacobs I do believe your services are no longer required at this time." Mr Jacobs gave me a look and I nodded for him to go. Karl and I then went with Daniel to the restuarant and then to the private dining room. We had no sooner entered than the older of the two boys who were there spoke up. "So which one of these is my bastard brother?"
