Jason and Shaun

Chapter 34, Part 2

So Busy

After their time in the bedroom, Jason remembers the envelope that Shaun's dad delivered earlier in the day. He takes it off the table and joins his husband on the couch. He hands it to Shaun.

"Your dad said we had to call him before we opened it."

Shaun examines the envelope as he tries to figure out what exactly is inside of it. His curiosity gets the best of him as he goes to open it. Jason stops him from opening it. Jason hands him his phone.

"Call your Dad!"

Shaun listens to his husband and calls his father. A few rings go by, and his dad answers his phone.

"Shaun, is everything okay?"

His dad asks since they didn't get an update after their last phone conversation. Shaun looks at Jason and smiles before answering his father.

"Dad, everything is good. I called about the envelope you dropped off earlier. What's in the envelope?"

His dad knew that Shaun would be calling at some point today. He wasn't sure when Shaun would be calling.

"Sandy, Shaun's on the phone. Jason gave him the envelope. Can you join me at the table?"

Their son can hear his dad talking to his mom. Once his mom sits with his dad, his dad starts talking again.

"Can we video chat with you and Jason? We want to discuss what's inside the envelope face to face."

Shaun isn't sure what this is about, but if he wants to find out, he must speak up.

"Sure, Dad, we can video chat? I'll hang up, and video call you, okay?"

His father agrees, and the video call starts in a few seconds.

"Hey, Mom!"

Shaun says to Sandy. Jason waves to his mother-in-law.

"Hi, Jason!"

Jason and Shaun sit to hear Shaun's dad start speaking.

"Shaun, Jason; we talked after Shaun and I spoke today, and we decided that if the two of you return to Indiana, we wanted to give you something to ease your trip. Open the envelope."

Shaun carefully opens the envelope as Jason watches him. Shaun pulls out a check and looks into the phone's screen. He's a little shocked.

"Mom, Dad, what is this?"

Shaun asks, knowing that his parents didn't have to do this. They undoubtedly reacted to Shaun's emotions and decided to act on them.

"We wanted to do something to help you out, so we wrote you a check. It's a check for one thousand dollars to be used for either the moving back to Indiana or the house. The two of you can decide how best to use it."

Sandy tells the guys as tears well up in their eyes. They know that Mom and Dad won't take no for an answer, so they won't fight the check.

"Mom, Dad, thanks for the check. We'll put it to good use."

Shaun tells his parents. Jason is a little anxious to get back to Indiana. His husband would be happy to move back too. They say goodbye, and they go and get work done around the house.

***

Jason is on lunch the next day, so he calls Shaun instead of doing his standard text. Shaun looks at the phone to see whose calling.

"Hey, Babe, what's up?"

Jason smiles at the sound of his husband's voice.

"I'm good. I had a thought about the check and moving. We need to pay your parents back once we're back in Indiana and when we can afford to pay them back. When do you want to start the moving process?"

Shaun has been thinking about the same things. He isn't sure about the moving process or when they should give notice.

"I favor paying them back once we are fully situated back in Indiana. As for the giving notice..."

Jason is surprised that Shaun is speaking so freely.

"Are you not at your desk?"

Shaun's reply comes with some excitement.

"I got to work today and got told that we are working from home today. Anyway, let's give our notice in a month."

Shaun says to Jason, who agrees that a month seems like plenty of time, that they can get a couple of paychecks in; it works perfectly.

"Oh, I heard a woman tell her husband that all of the animals seem to be horny. Later in the day, I heard another visitor asking if the sloth was real. Oh, and there was a guy going commando, and he accidentally gave me a view of his balls, and the tip of his penis was visible. I heard someone say that he was a porn star, and they said his name. I looked him up on my phone, and sure enough, the guy is a porn star. Babe, after seeing his junk, I can honestly say that you could do porn."

Shaun doesn't know what to say about the guy who put his goods on display. He blushes when his husband tells him that he compared his cock to the cock of a porn star, and Shaun's cock won the comparison. Still, it made him feel good that Jason thinks he could have a job as a porn star.

"You want to get me in trouble with my mom, don't you?"

Jason laughs.

"No, but can you imagine the money you would be making?"

Jason says to Shaun, who for half a second actually contemplates doing porn.

"We will discuss this at a later date."

Shaun says, knowing that his husband's lunch is almost over.

"I'll talk to you later, Big Guy. I love you!"

Jason tells his husband. Shaun chuckles to himself when Jason calls him Big Guy.

"Bye, Jason, I love you!"

Jason ends the call, and then they both get back to work.

***

Another week has started, and nothing has changed; at least they have each other, and that is enough. Jason occasionally calls his husband to tell him the crazy things he's heard or seen at the zoo, which usually causes Shaun to laugh. In case you're wondering, Shaun, isn't becoming a pornstar. Jason has to be happy having his own private porn star, but Shaun has his own porn star too. They don't have as much time together as they would like, but that could change at any time. They have been trying to come up with new recipes and new ways to be romantic.

***

Another week has come along, and this week has gotten better. They've managed to have dinners together and had time alone, which has been fantastic. Another nice thing about the week is that they had a date night. It wasn't anything fancy, just a game night at the house and Indian take-out, so they didn't have to cook. The date ended with them watching a movie. It's nice to finally have a week where things feel normal.

***

Grant is at home and decides to text Jason He spent some time thinking things over in his head before texting Jason.

"Jason, Jeff and I have discussed how your weeks have been going, and here are some ideas that we've tried and we enjoyed them:

1. Plan a date night. It doesn't have to be anything special but make plans together and stick with them.

2.No matter what, don't stop calling, texting, and writing those notes back and forth. We have a jar with slips of paper that give us ideas for times when we just need a simple date night.

3. Never allow anyone to intrude on "your" time; that means you turn off your phones, ignore emails, and don't answer your door.

Enjoy!"

Jason likes those ideas that Grant and Jeff gave them. He wants to put them to use at some point. He forwards the text to his husband and adds:

"I think we need to try these and maybe share our ideas with them."

Shaun smiles at Jason's text. Shaun immediately responds back to his husband.

"Tell Grant thanks for me."

Jason does as his spouse requests and gets a smiley face in return.

***

The next day, Jason finds out that two more people have been hired by his boss. Hopefully, they'll free up time for him. He can dream, right? He texts Shaun about it, but Shaun just isn't as optimistic on the matter as Jason. Shaun believes they might be assigned to work in other building areas. Despite his husband's thoughts, Jason will hold on to those thoughts, and maybe some good will come out of it. His fingers are crossed, at any rate.

***

Shaun is happier now that things are better at home. He feels less stressed, which is doing wonders for him. The best part is that there is more time for them and time to spend on hobbies or projects at the house. There is even a bit of time that can be spent with the cats and the other pets. It also means that Shaun and Jason can house hunt together.

***

Tonight, the guys planned a night out. Nothing special just dinner at a restaurant that Grant told them has the best food. Shaun and Jason took another piece of their advice and turned off their phones. The night promises to be a great one.

"Jason, do you think we're doing the right thing?"

Jason isn't sure what his husband is talking about, though if he had to guess, it's likely that he's talking about the move, or it might have to do with something else.

"Babe, are you talking about the move or the check?"

Jason needs to know, so he knows how to answer his husband. Shaun just placed a shrimp in his mouth, and he won't be rude by talking with food in his mouth. His man will just have to wait to hear the reply. Shaun answers his husband's question when he swallows the food in his mouth.

I was wondering if you think moving is the right thing to do?"

Jason is confused. Shaun wants to move, so why is he asking the question.

"Babe, neither one of us is happy here. We know it will strain the relationships here in Utah with family and friends. We know there is something special about Indiana."

Shaun nods his head. He agrees with Jason's comments. When dinner is made, and the check is written, our guys head home to enjoy what's left of their night.

***

After arriving home, they turn on their phones, and Jason can see that someone has called. He checks his calls and notices that Sarah called while they were gone.

"Shaun, Sarah called. Do you think we should call her back now or tomorrow?"

He is listening to the message as Shaun enters the room. He sits next to Jason.

"Yeah, I wouldn't mind talking to Sarah if she answers."

Shaun says as Jason finishes listening to Sarah's message, and then he brings up her number and calls her. Shaun tells him to put it on the speaker, and Jason does as he is asked.

"Hello Jason, is Shaun with you?"

Usually, one of the guys will call, and the other will sit back and participate in the conversation.

"He is right beside me. So what's new?"

Jason is hoping that everything is okay. Sarah and Mark are great people, and they don't deserve to be sad.

"Not a lot, my brother and my husband took the little guy out for a walk. We're going to have a little cookout tomorrow."

You can tell that Sarah is excited about the cook-out. Shaun is a bit sad. Mark and Shaun love to cook on the grill. Most of the time, they would invite the guys over for dinner on those days. Jason actually got Mark grilling shrimp.

"I'm sad!"

Shaun says, but Sarah sees right through it, and she smiles and laughs at him. Jason is a little sad, too for the exact same reason as Shaun.

"Well, we have some news but don't get overly excited just yet, but we've been talking about moving back to Indiana. All it is right now is talk."

Sarah is super excited. She can't believe that her brothers might be coming back. One can imagine that Mark, Eric, and Steve will all be happy to have Shaun and Jason back home.

"That is awesome, guys; why are you coming back to Indiana?"

She doesn't understand why someone would leave such a beautiful place. Maybe, she can see where things might be rough out there.

"We miss Indiana, our people back home, Chicago, the lake, and just the atmosphere. To me, it feels more accepting in Indiana."

Shaun gives his thoughts to her. She can see where Utah might feel like it isn't accepting. Still, it has to be hard for Shaun to think about leaving his family again, though, at the same time, it must be exciting for Jason to be coming back to Indiana and his family.

"Yeah, what Shaun said, but our jobs here just aren't working out the way we wanted. We'll see what happens later. Right now, I think we are ready to be home. Right Babe?"

Jason looks at Shaun for confirmation. He's worried a little because his lover is being a bit slow to respond to his question. Shaun just wants to get off the phone, so he can cuddle. Yes, Shaun could spend all day in his man's arms.

"Yes, Jason, they aren't what we thought they would be, that's for sure. We feel like we haven't got settled even after all these months. I don't think we're ready to move just yet, but we're ready. Does that make any sense to you?"

Shaun added a bit to what Jason had to say. He did speak the truth, though. They aren't ready to move but give them a couple months.

***

It's the next day, and the guys have had dinner and are now getting ready to video chat with Jason's parents. Shaun gets it to get up and then calls the in-laws.

"Jason let's go!"

Jason is cleaning a mess caused by a cat with catnip-induced zoomies. After cleaning up the crude on the floor, he joins his husband at the dining room table. The call is already in progress.

"Hi Mom, Hi Dad, sorry I'm late. The cats made a mess a little ago, and I had to clean it up."

After Jason's apology, his parents change the subject, which is something his mom is good at.

"Are you guys planning a trip to Indiana?"

Shaun looks at the calendar. There are trips planned.

"Mom, we don't have any immediate plans, but we do have plans for something else having to do with Indiana. I'll let Jason tell you about it."

Jason's parents are now looking at their son as they wait for him to speak. Jason isn't sure that now is the right time to announce the move to his parents. Since Shaun spoke and let his parents know, he had no choice but to spill the beans.

"Mom, Dad, Shaun, and I are discussing maybe moving home to Indiana. Nothing is set in stone, and we don't have a date for the move, but it's highly likely that we'll be back in Indiana before the end of the year."

He saw the excitement in his mom's face when he said, "moving to Indiana," His dad smiled too, maybe because he knew his mom is delighted over the thought of their son moving back.

"Jason and Shaun, we need to run."

The boys nod their heads, and his parents smile.

"We love you Mom and Dad."

Shaun tells his in-laws.

"We love you both. We were about to eat when you called, so we are going to go eat."

The guys say goodbye, and then they plan on just relaxing.

***

Jason and Shaun love having these moments where they can be together, and just enjoy being together. Tonight, Shaun snuggled close to his husband. They can be next to each other, engaged in their own thing, and come away feeling like they had the best time together; that isn't the case tonight, though. They are snuggled up with a blanket covering their legs. They share some kisses and some hugs while sitting there. At some point, Shaun takes his Babe into the dining room for late-night banana splits, and then they get ready for bed.
