Due to a request by a reader, I have made my paragraphs a little shorter and put more space in between them. Let me know if it works guys cause I take very seriously any requests you make. Anyway, enough from me, here is chapter four. Little Guy By Stoo I parked the car up front of the large house I had been given directions to. The area the house was situated was some twenty or so miles from my own home, but the difference was easy to visualize. Scotland is a wonderful country, a place I am proud to call my home. Proud of the heritage that surrounds us, proud of the vast majority of our people. The area I live however isn't the most appealing. There are the few people who have hit rock bottom but instead of trying to climb back out they hit out and innocent people. I've already depicted one eventuality of that earlier, but there is more. For now however I was more than content walking down the drive way of this charming home. As I strolled past the two large fir trees that stood either side of the drive I saw Al sitting with a group of guys at a picnic table. He was wearing a pair of baggy style trousers and an electric blue silk shirt which clung to his form sensually. His beautiful black hair was spiked up and he was smiling radiantly at the group as they laughed back and forth. As the group noticed me approaching they got to their feet and moved out to meet me. Al at their head, reaching me quickly and hugging me tight. I felt his hand gently stroking my lower back and he breathed deeply against my chest. "Careful buddy, you're gonna get me horny!" I joked and he reluctantly pulled himself away. He turned an introduced me to the motley crew he had been trading witticisms with earlier. He introduced them as; Paul, Baz and Gordon, who was more commonly referred to as Reggie (even they don't know why). Each of them had basically come into contact through Al, who had advertised his talents in the newspaper and all were pretty talented musicians. This was my first time actually meeting the guys and I could tell they were pretty excited by the fact that I would be the first person to actually listen to them play. Ever since I have known Al he has captivated me with his skill on the acoustic guitar. Holding my attention gleefully with Spanish solos and my own favourite Eagle's songs brought to life by his deft little fingers. On top of all that he had a most brilliant voice, which seemed to be able to sing the sweetest ballad to the more powerful rock songs with the same ease and ability. I mean I play guitar myself, I love playing but I do it purely for enjoyment and of course I sing along when I do it. However nothing like this. "All right man?" The guy introduced as Baz slapped me lightly on the shoulder. He seemed to be the most outgoing of the group. He had never lost the bright smile on his face since he left the table. His green eyes seemed to hold a certain charisma and they were set of by his darkly tanned skin. Someone had been on holiday recently. "Not bad, so... When do I get to hear you fellas play?" I asked, smiling and nodding to the others. "Right now!" A solemn figure at the back of the bunch said, his voice low and controlled. As he said it however his eyes sparkled and he smiled too. Gordon, the joker of the group continued his grin as we strolled across the lawn to a huge garage which was set up for the band. The house belonged to the last of the group's parents. The guy had not uttered a word as yet and seemed to be even shyer than Al. I convinced myself this was my fault because he had been smiling with the group before I had been noticed. He was pretty short, but I'm certain if he didn't slump he would look taller. His blonde hair hung low, hiding what I thought to be a kind of greyish coloured eyes. No doubts about it, the guy was good looking, he just had no confidence at all. As we entered the garage Paul silently closed the door, giving Al a brief smile as he settled behind the drums. Damn. Yeah, I know, it was a shock to me too. Shy, withdrawn drummer. Not what I was expecting, or what you were expecting, right?. Baz strapped himself into a stunning black, gold trimmed base guitar, offering me a wink as he tested the strings. I watched with amusement as Reggie, struggled to free his guitar from its case but when he did I nodded with approval at the Gibson Les Paul he removed. Knowing how much he liked my own guitar I had given Al permission to use it whenever he wanted. It was a custom made Crafter six string acoustic. Dark green in the centre fading to black on the outside, with Mexican designs around the sound hole. It had cost me a pretty penny, but it was well worth it. It had brought me hours of enjoyment and relaxation. Seeing it strapped around Al made me envy the damn guitar. I found myself a little nook in one of the corners of the garage where I could sit. I noticed that a fair amount of money had been spent on converting the garage into a space where Paul could practise, it was completely soundproofed. Al flipped a switch which powered up the amps and mic's and he gave me a little grin. "Let's see if we can't get my boy moving on this one!" Al grinned as he spoke into the microphone before Paul counted them in by striking his drum sticks together three times. The band burst into a rendition of Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love". I must admit, I was impressed. My day spent with the band was great; they played various songs fit for almost every taste but it all culminated with one of the most emotional moments of my life so far. Al with sweat dripping off his nose, moving around and singing your guts out for three hours can do that, stepped up to the microphone again and looked directly into my eyes. "We're gonna do a song right now, that I used to sit in my room and play after you left my house Stoo, when we weren't going out, it's called `Iris'." As he began to play he had never broken eye contact with me. As he played I felt all the emotions building up within me, causing a tear to trickle freely down my face. Baz noticed, and tapped his right fist over his chest. There is no way I can recreate the scene in writing, it's easy in my mind, the sound of the music is still playing in my heart but writing it is different. It was just so expressive, like the song showed how clearly he hurt back then when he felt so much for me but couldn't show it. It hit home quite hard. Anyway, here are the lyrics. "And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life 'Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything feels like the movies And you bleed just to know you're alive And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am I just want you to know who I am" As the song finished Paul shot me a weak smile from behind the drum kit, before lowering his eyes once more. Baz and Reggie were both grinning like mad. As Al set the guitar down he was over to me in a flash, gripping me for dear life as if letting me go was an absurd concept. "I love you Al!" I sobbed into his shoulder, "If only I knew how you felt..." He stroked the back of my neck lightly, his other hand on the side of my face cupping my jaw. He gently lifted my head, pressing his lips against mine, his tongue embracing my own. As he broke the kiss I noticed his eyes were also puffy and red. We must have looked like a right bunch of little girls, me sitting with my back against the garage wall, him sitting astride me crying our eyes out. The guy's didn't seem to mind though, Reggie even laughed whistling with two fingers in his mouth. After managing to compose ourselves we moved to the outside where for the first time Paul spoke since I arrived. "You guys are good together..." He said his voice still raspy and early teen like even though he was at least eighteen, "... You two wanna stay a while, we are having a barbeque... I mean if you don't wanna... I mean..." He had suddenly become very tense as if rejection would not be a good thing right now. "You got beer?" I grinned, making him flash another shy smile. "His fridge is fully locked and loaded my friend!" Reggie slung an arm round Paul's shoulders as we walked towards the house. Paul's eyes flickered at the touch and he seemed to melt into it. Causing me to guess they were both together. I looked to Al and he smiled and nodded. I raised my eyebrow slightly as I looked at Baz. "Hey don't you go looking at me man, I'm the straight one!" He laughed, "Feeling a bit left out though, can I maybe get a hug sweet cheeks?" He began chasing Al theatrically round and round me. I placed and arm on his chest the second time he passed, stopping him in his tracks. "I'll give you a hug..." I flexed my arm, "... A bear hug if you don't quit it!" I laughed heartily as he raised his arms in surrender. "You can keep him man, for now!" He winked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once again thank you kindly for all your lovely comments. I hope that this chapter was ok.
