Chapter 14
Colt looked at the man standing at the head of the table then back to Arbor who was being held by two of the guards.
“He fucking had Mom killed!” yelled Arbor.
“Mother, said you – you were terminated,” Colt said in disbelief.
“An old adage – garbage in garbage out, you, Colt, of all people, should have known that. It took a lot of doing to fool that computer, but I have some very smart people working for me,” leered Paul Smith.
“Why?” said Colt.
“Money and power, son. You made it so easy, but I realized you’d never work with me, unless I had some leverage. Ruth’s death was necessary to show you that the lives of your friends mean nothing to me.”
“I’ll NEVER cooperate! NEVER!” screamed Colt.
“Oh, I think you will. Nikita bring him in.”
Into the room stumble Darryl, hands tied behind his back, with electrical cord, having been shoved into the room by Niki.
“Love is a weakness son. When I lost your mother, I knew I’d never love again. I soon realized that love is like a disease of the mind that eats away at you. You have that disease, and I’m sure you want your boyfriend to live. Do you cooperate?”
“Don’t do it Colt,” said Darryl.
Nikita instantly put a knife to Darryl’s throat.
“No!” shouted Colt, “Arb, I can’t loose Darryl. Please.”
Arb nodded.
“That’s better,” said Paul Smith.
The two boys moved to the table and sat down, with the laptop computer in front of them.
As soon as Colt’s fingers touched the keyboard a message appeared on the screen.
“Put on VR Glasses. Arbor must do so too. Access pending.”
“Get them the glasses,” ordered Paul Smith.
One of the guards left the room. Colt looked over to Darryl, who managed a slight smile. Niki almost imperceptibly nodded his head. Colt returned his attention to Mother.
The man returned with the glasses. Both Arbor and Colt put on the glasses.
Another message appeared on the screen.
“Stress level too high in the environment interfering with DNA scanning. Require six humans leave the immediate environment.”
Colt looked at Paul Smith, “They have to leave the room if you want this to work.”
Paul Smith ordered the men out. Only Paul Smith, Arbor, Colt, Darryl and Niki remained in the room.
“Analysis resuming, verification will take approximately two minutes,” appeared on Mother’s screen.
Both Colt and Arbor saw a different message than what was displayed on mother’s screen. It appeared in the space before them. “Boys, remain calm. Shortly there will be a power failure. When that occurs, Niki and Darryl will take out Paul. Grab me, and take Arb’s hand, Arb, take Niki’s hand. There will be a lot of confusion – ignore it. I will guide you out of here. Kevin will be waiting in the Citroen. Sorry, to put you through all this, but it was the only feasible solution for rescuing Arbor and me. You can trust Kevin – he truly loved Ruthie.”
“POWER OUTAGE in 5…4…3…2…1”
Mother’s screen went blank and a split second later, the knife Niki was holding to Darryl’s throat found its target.
Paul’s face was a picture of horror, as he realized the knife had severed his jugular.
“That’s for Ruthie and Keith,” said Colt.
The room and the building were plunged into darkness, and confusion of alarms and PA system messages directing guards here and there, erupted.
Colt grabbed Mother, took Arb’s hand and followed Mother’s directions through the maze of corridors, until finally, they exited the building, and the door locked behind them, just as the Halon alarms went off. In less than ten minutes there would be no oxygen left in the building.
The four boys got into the car and sped away.

The five were sitting in a villa in southern France.
“They are never going to stop looking for Arb and me. Are they?”
“No, they aren’t, and each of us is in danger, no matter what. They are all scared of what you could do. Look at it. This world is based on the greed of a few. Drug companies, psychiatrists, politicians are all after control and enslavement of people. The few ultra rich have their hands in every war, and they control the media. Most of the population act like cattle unaware that they are on the way to slaughter. They are totally oblivious of their impending doom. Slowly but surely the rights of the citizen are being stripped away and the foolish buy what the politicians and the media feed them. They keep telling the public how bad and dangerous everything is. And you know what it's them that make it dangerous,” said Kevin.
“Yeah, look at what happened in the UK,” voiced Arb.
“Mother is self-aware. I’m not going to tell you how I did it, other than I had to do it. Anyway, I’ve talked with him and there is a way out, for all of us, but, sadly, it’s pretty much a one-way ticket. To those that are after us it will pretty much look like we were blown out of the sky. Hard as it is for some to believe, there are other beings – aliens, if you will, some of them have human form, and some don't but those that have contacted Mother, are of higher intelligence and they are peaceful creatures. Via Mother, I have contacted them. I feel that my talents, knowledge, and skills will be greater served amongst sane and peaceful people. I’ve made my decision and so has Darryl. We’ve elected to go – we have nothing to gain on this insane ball of matter, with its corrupt governments and agencies. If we remain here, life will continue to be one tragedy after another; hunted like criminals when our only intention was to do good. With us gone – Mother, Darryl and me, perhaps things will be better for you guys. Keith provided for Arb and me. There is more than enough in my assets and monies for all of you to live a decent life here. It’s yours if you elect to stay.”
“I got nothing here to keep me, and anyway, I gotta keep your little ass out of trouble,” laughed Kevin.
“Bro, we’ve been together our whole life. We’re like a team, besides life would be boring without you,” noted Arb then he looked at Niki.
“Well, I’m not staying here alone, besides – uh mmm uh I really like you,” Niki said softly, looking at Arb and then blushed.
Arbor leaned over and kissed Niki on the lips. “I like you too,” he said, in a quite voice.
“You’re gay!” exclaimed Colt.
“Yeah, I guess I am. I never really thought about it until I met Niki.”
“Wow,” was all Colt could say.
