Date: Mon, 4 Nov 2002 13:38:37 -0800 (PST) From: Andy Somethin Subject: Someday Someday Chapter 1. The cold dark night enveloped us as we huddled together near the dimming fire on the ground. Why does the temperature drop so much between twelve A.M. and twelve P.M? I'm not sure how many more nights I can handle living like this. As I watched my friend drift in and out of a restless sleep, I watched as the sun began to rise over the ocean before me. What were we thinking setting off on this endless journey, some day's I wish we could just turn around and go back to our old lives. Unfortunately, we both know that isn't an option anymore, maybe at one time it was, but now we don't have a choice and we must press forward. I am called Skylark, yes, I'm aware that I'm named after a bird... My parents were both children of the seventies named Rain and Euphoria. My mother Euphoria was enjoyed bird watching, I was named after her favorite bird the Skylark, she thought it was the most beautiful. Rain, my father, well he was a father, some days I don't believe he liked me all that much. When I was a kid he avoided almost all contact with me. Sadly, he died when I was seventeen right before I was able to graduate from high school. That hit me very hard I wasn't always best friends with my dad but I still envied him. He was a very handsome guy, my mother was lucky. I have been told he had a few unfortunate habits that he apparently never outgrew, one was smoking weed. I didn't find out about his addiction till after he was dead and I couldn't help him. Right now I am twenty-one years old and three months, I have semi-long blonde hair and blue eyes. I'm approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, not too big not too small. The beautiful young lady sleeping next to me is my best friend, Jen. Jen is nineteen years old, with short spiky brown hair, and green eyes. I don't think I will ever understand what made her come with me, I don't think I want to know why she came with me, all that matters is that she is here now. Jen grew up in a beautiful part of New York City, as I came to find out she lived in a very rich section of the town. Her house alone was larger enough to qualify as a mansion. She comes from a larger family then myself. Her siblings harass her endlessly, the youngest an eight year old boy Thomas, then a 14 year old girl named Laura, the oldest being a twenty-seven year old guy named Michael. Her mother and father are not the most caring set of parents, actually her father was far from caring. Her mother was a sad and pitiful excuse for a woman she didn't have much of a spine and refused to stand up to Jake-her father- about anything she believes in. As the sun rose so did Jen, she slowly regained consciousness and I started gathering some more wood so that we could boil a little water for breakfast as she shook the last bit of tiredness from her head. The day slowly began to warm up, we packed up our few belongings into the frame packs we were carrying and continued our endless trek. We weren't the average hikers that a person might find hiking through the beautiful forests that were near my old home in southern New Jersey near the pine barrens. We both quit our jobs and emptied our meager bank accounts then set off for the west. We weren't exactly sure where we were going however, I guess we would find out when we got their. Our friends told us to call when we arrived and wished us luck I wasn't sure if I would brother calling I didn't want to be tied to my past any longer. Hopefully we will arrive before the next winter, neither of us brought appropriate gear. As we headed off this morning we began talking about our previous lives that we left behind. "Why did you want to leave so badly Sky?" asked Jen curiously. "I don't know I wanted a change, I promised my mother once that I would do something meaningful with my life and when that didn't' work out I decided to do something stupid instead," Sky quickly responded, "I once told my friends in high school I would do this, they all laughed and told me it was impossible, when college didn't work out too well for me I decided to just leave. My whole family is dead my dad died when I was 17 and my mother passed away when i turned 19 only a few days after my birthday, they think she died from grief. Her body basically shut down because she missed my father so much, she never really recovered from his death two years before." "You ran away that's priceless, so you were really just trying to escape youre old friends wouldn't it have been easier to jsut like switch towns not decide to walk and hitch hike across the country?" says Jen between laughs. "Well , I guess I could have done that but this is more fun! Well what's you're reason to come with me then?" "I just thought umm... Don't laugh at me but I thought you were really really cute and looked lonely I saw you saying goodbye to your friends at the union and well I really wanted to come with you." "Me? Attractive? Hahahahah that is even funnier. Umm I'm sorry to break this to you Jen, but I'm gay." Admits Sky for the first time in his whole life still having trouble meeting her eyes. "No way!! You can't be," Jen stops walking and looks into his eyes, "Shit, you are. I'm following a gay guy around the country... Just my luck" Sky looks at her completely serious for the first time that day, "Jen feel free to leave I'm not keeping you here with me you aren't a prisoner." Jen just shakes her head at him and continues walking up the street hopefully heading in the westward direction. Sky cannot believe his luck, Jen knows that I'm gay and still wants to continue traveling with me, it can't get much better then this. Around one in the afternoon, they reached the center of a quaint town somewhere in the middle of Pennsylvania by Allentown. As they walk up to a small market to get food Tina throws herself on the ground asking Sky, "How he can possibly walk so much without being tired or sore." Sky replies telling her, "Jen just hang here I'll be back in a few minutes with a little food. Plus, I use to run cross country for about six years, long distances is my specialty." When Sky returns he tosses a buttered roll at her and sits down on a bench to watch the small park they were sitting in. The park is basically an overgrown duck pond with a small garden and a grassy hill. Sky marvels at the site displayed before him. Everywhere he looks all he sees splayed before him are families laughing and enjoying each others presence. Young couples walking hand in hand conversing light heartily. Jen is completely envious of what she saw, her family was never like the ones she was seeing now. Sky feeling her discomfort stands up and begins to walk, he is quickly followed by Jen walking one step behind him imitating a lost puppy. Chapter 2 Letting Go After they walked a few more days in unbearable silence, Sky finally gathers the courage to confront Jen about what happened during her earlier life, before she speaks she got an extremely clouded look in her eyes. "I came from a fairly large family in New York City, as you know. My mother represented everything that was pure in my life. My father on the other hand, I hate that man so much. Everyday my father would drink, if he wasn't drinking he was on some drug. I would get home from school put away my backpack in my room and then shut the door and stay there almost all night. If I was late coming home from school He would beat me. My father was sadistic him and my oldest brother got along fairly well, Michael enjoyed the pain my father inflicted. Once he moved out and my father realized i couldn't' handle the beatings like Michael did they began to come more frequently till I was afraid to leave my room." "That's awful!" exclaimed Sky. "When I heard you talking about your trip I knew I had to go I mailed a letter to my parents telling them I was going away permanently, now I really can't ever go back." "Hey Jen did you ever have a boyfriend?" "With my psychotic father," laughs Tina, "Yeah right hehe what about you any special guy?" "Nope, I couldn't even admit I was gay till I got to college. My roommate was the only person I really liked at school he graduated though." Now the two friends walked in comfortable silence as the night began to fall around them, hoping to go another few miles before it got to cold and dark. Now in New York City Tina's father has just received the letter saying that she ahs run away and wont come back. He is absolutely furious at this turn of events. Chapter 3- Everybody dance now! "Hey Jen we had a long day do you want to just relax her its really pretty, and we haven't eaten a decent meal in a few days." "Excellent, I'm dying for a cheeseburger or something greasy and hot maybe with a nice cup of black coffee... Ummm lets go get dinner. While we are out we can ogle hot guys hehe," Tina exclaimed suddenly much happier then she had been most of the night. The two teens headed off to a local food place some kids in town recommended they might want to try for some great food. Once they were seated they looked around, Why did it seem like everybody in this town is gorgeous, all they guys who walked past their table were hunks. Sky was using all of his energy just to keep from drooling on the table. While they were waiting for the check a group of college kids about their age came over and introduced themselves to the two. After about 20 minutes of talking while sipping some coffee the kids mentioned that they were going to visit a new club that opened recently called "The Pitt". They invited Sky and Jen to join them there because they looked awfully lonely all by themselves. Once most of the crowd cleared two guys hung around still talking Travis talking to Sky and Jason hanging on Tina's every word. "So, umm dude I hope I'm not taking to much of a risk here... But uhh are you gay?? Cuz it seems like you've been checking me out all night." Said Travis slightly timidly at first. Crap, he knows about me oh well might as well not lie, "Uhh, yeah man I'm gay that isn't a problem is it? And yes I was checking you out you're fuckin hot i couldn't help it sorry." Wow, he doesn't seem too upset at me, his eyes are so cute looking a ice hazel color I really like them.. Then again the rest of him isn't so bad either. He easily stood at 6'1 170lbs. "Oh my this is awesome I'm gay so come on, lets go detach Jason from Jen and meet up with the other at the club its only about four blacks away, we can walk there." As they approached Jen and Jason they were frantically kissing each other. Travis walked behind Travis and Sky went behind Jen and they began to peel the two apart then started the four block walk over to the club. As they approached the new club their was a massive black bouncer standing at the door blocking the entrance. They all walked up and showed their ID's. While they were waiting for the ID's to be checked they could hear the techno remixes being played inside, maybe this will be pretty cool anyway, Sky thought. Jason walked in with one arm draped over Jen `s small shoulders, Sky and Travis attempting to be less conspicuous held hands together. The inside of the club was spectacular. It was decorated like an old warehouse and had two levels. The DJ was busy taking requests and mixing tracks, Sky was overcome by the ambiance of it all. The room had smoke rising form the floor while bodies frantically pushed against each other on the dance floor. Travis went to grab a drink from the bar then met back up with Travis. After aching for a few minutes Travis put down his glass on the closest table. "Would you like to dance Sky? You look really nice tonight," "Umm sure I've never been much of a dancer but I can try I guess." With that Travis led him onto the dance floor and moved behind him placing his strong arms around Sky's waist. With Travis guiding him Sky quickly got the hang of grinding on the dance floor, another guy stood in front of Sky pushing him backwards even more into Travis's hard body. Around 2 in the morning Sky was tired and ready to go crash in a park somewhere with Tina, when he told Travis his plan he wouldn't have it and insisted that both Sky, Jason, and Jen came and stayed at his apartment. Once the group was rounded up they made their way slowly back to the outskirts of town where Travis lived in a rather large 5 room apartment. Travis and Sky went into the master bedroom, while Jen and Jason crashed together on the sofa. Inside the bedroom Travis wrapped himself around his new lover and they crashed into bed naked kissing and rubbing each other. As they lay enjoying each other bodies calmly they heard the frantic moaning that could only indicate sex from the living room as they drifted off to sleep in each others arms.
