Where you think nothing can go wrong? I didn't... It started out okay. Skye and I were walking down a street, talking and laughing, and it felt good. It felt like we were really connecting. When I thought the moment was right, I reached out to touch his hand and he looked at me. The kind look that was in his eyes was quickly replaced with a wild fury that scared the piss out of me. Literally. "What the hell are you doing fag?!" Skye screamed. "But...uh...I thought..." I barely managed to stammer out. "What, you thought I wanted you!!! You're nothing but a fucking joke! Stay the hell away from me!" I couldn't help but start to cry and before I could turn around and walk away, a fist connected with the side of my head. I dropped to the ground like a ton of bricks and felt a warm wetness on my head. I reached my hand up to touch my forehead and when I looked at my fingers, they were covered in blood. I looked up to see a boot clad foot about to stomp my head in and quickly rolled out of the way. "You think you can try to feel me up and just get away with it you dirty fag?! I'm gonna kick your sorry ass!" "Please Skye, I'm so sorry! If I had known I'd have never said anything to you." I pleaded with him. "Is that right, huh? Well after I'm through with you EVERYONE will know!!!" Skye yelled. The last thing I saw was his boot rushing towards my face before I awoke... "WHAT THE HELL!!!!" I awoke screaming. "Whoa dude, are you okay?" the stranger in my room called out. I wiped the sweat from my brow and caught my breath before I began to speak. "Yeah, I'm alright. Just...a bad dream, I guess." I said shakily. Why had I dreamed of being bashed? I've never really been afraid of something like that happening to me, and Skye being the one to bash me? I can't even imagine; well apparently I did, and I mean it could happen. I barely know the guy. "You sure you're okay? Do you need me to get somebody?" the stranger asked. "No, I'm fine, really. I might've just slept wrong or something." I said trying to placate the stranger. "I know this is kind of late but uh, are you my roommate?" "Yeah, hello, my name is Guy. Guy Pearson. And you are?" he asked. "Oh, I'm Andrew Clark. I guess we'll be spending the next year or so together." I said "Yeah, I'm so siked!!! Have you seen the chicks?! Nothing but babes here man!" Guy said enthusiastically. "Kind of. I didn't really want to tell whoever my roommate was like this, but I guess I'll just say it. I'm gay. If you've got a problem with it, can you let me know now so we can get this situation straightened out, please?" I told him with the tone of my voice rising with every word. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, don't jump down my throat! To answer your question, no I don't have a problem with you being gay. My best friend Stu from back home is gay, and he's one of the coolest guys I've ever met." Guy told me. "Just checking. Sometimes I get a little touchy with the gay subject. Not all the time, but with new people, you never know. But thanks for being so open and understanding Guy. I appreciate it." I said sincerely. "How about we get unpacked then go out for an early lunch or late breakfast?" I asked. "My treat?" "Sure. Who can turn down a meal? But how about we just split the tab? There's gonna plenty of time for free meals during the year." Guy suggested. I shook my head and laughed as I got up from my bed; getting ready for a long day and putting my bad dream to rest, hopefully for good. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Guy and I made small talk as we got our room set up to our liking. My side; the bed covered in a deep blue comforter with the walls above it covered in posters of various musicians, movie posters, and drawings of mine. I was glad that the things I shipped had arrived in one piece. I looked through one of the boxes, finding my art supplies intact. I looked at my side of the room with pride and turned to look at Guys' side of the room and couldn't help but laugh. On his bed there was a comforter with 'The Simpsons' on it. His wall had cartoons and drawings from manga of every sort. "What?" Guy asked with a smile on his face. "It's nothing; it's just that I draw too and I love some of the work you have up. But isn't the Simpsons' blanket a little, I don't know, 2nd grade?" I asked, failing to hide the laughter in my voice. "Are you kidding me?! That show is classic comedy! I'm proud to be a fan." Guy said with pride. "You should be lucky that your eyes get to feast upon such a thing. "Yeah, and next time, I'll break out the Scooby Doo blankets and pillowcases." I said sarcastically. "You actually have those?!" You should totally bring them!" Guy said laughing. We had a blast as we tidied up the last loose ends in our room and headed out to lunch. "You want to get the rest of the admissions crap out of the way after lunch?" I asked Guy. "Yeah, but then I've gotta meet up with some friends from my high school. We're just gonna hang out for awhile before things get hectic. You wanna come with?" Guy asked me. "I guess I'll come with. I gotta keep you from making me look like a complete idiot." I joked. "You do enough of that without my help." Guy kidded. Guy and I continued to joke and while we were talking, I really had a chance to look at Guy's...brain. I'm not even going to lie, Guy is kind of hot. He's got short, dirty blond hair that really make his hazel, almost amber colored eyes pop. He's fairly muscular, with an obvious six-pack that was on display underneath his form fitting blue tee. The blue and white plaid shirt he wore over the tee only helped to accentuate the muscles in his arms. With blue, stonewashed jeans and white sneakers completing his ensemble, who wouldn't be interested? I have to say, he could be quite a catch for any lucky girl on campus, so ladies, watch out. For some reason though, he just isn't doing it for me in the sex department. Number one, he's straight, and I've made it one of my golden rules never to mess around with proclaimed straight guys. A straight guy who has sex with guys, regularly, in my book, is a gay guy. Number two, a friend is a friend, and unless you are confident it's going to last, in the words of my lovely mother, 'don't shit where you eat'. I think I'm beginning to see the start of a beautiful friendship with Guy that could last awhile. Lunch was great, we shared some laughs and by the time we were ready to leave some of the other customers were looking at us funny, but we didn't care. We went right to the admissions office and got everything done in about an hour. Shortly after, we got back to the dorms and changed clothes before we went out to meet Guys' friends. "I'm telling you Andy, you're going to love these guys. They're some of the funniest people I've ever met." Guy told me. "You're gonna fit right in. Just be your usual bitchy, borderline schizophrenic-self and you'll be just fine." Guys said. "Oh yeah, I take soooo much comfort in that." I said, the hint of sarcasm clear in my voice. "If we're anything alike, I can tell you now, we're probably not going to like each other... you know, maybe this isn't such a good idea? We should do this another time, perhaps when my stomach isn't attempting to punch me in the face." I said to Guy. The nausea was setting in and my entire body felt like it was ripping itself apart. The color drained from my face and beads of sweat rolled down my head, resulting in a look of concern from Guy. "You don't look so well Andy. If you're that freaked, we can always do this another time. I just thought that you'd want to meet my friends and come to like them as much as I like you. I want you to know you're a super cool dude Andy, never forget that." Guy said earnestly. "Besides, if we add you to the party I'll have to bust out my 'A' game with the ladies 'cause they'll be so smitten with you." Guy said, laughing all the while. "You know on second thought, I think I will go." I said attempting to beat Guy at his own game. "I haven't exercised MY 'A' game in a while, and I could use the extra practice. You know I am a hit with the ladies." I said smartly. I flipped my collar and walked with my best sexy stride; Guy going from looking shocked to laughing hysterically as we walked the rest of the way to meet his friends. Guy and I entered the family-friendly restaurant, 'Sal's'; the d‚cor a blast from the past with the red and white striped seats and booths and the long bar lined with a row of fixed metal stools. The walls had pictures of people that dined here, not just celebrities but family and long-time friends. A loud noise shook me from my reverie, and I turned my head to see Guy hugging and shaking hands with a group of people sitting at a small booth in the corner. "Hey Andy, you've gotta come and meet the guys." Guy said. "Guys', we aren't all guys you know." A short brunette said loudly. "I'll have you know that I have never, and will never be 'one of the guys'." The brunette said haughtily. "Okay Nessa, you can take your vag off the table now, we get the point." Guy said. "Andy, this is my lovely friend Vanessa. Doesn't she just take your breath away?" Guy said with a sweet smile. "Next to her you've got Jake; her boyfriend, and Sam, short for Samantha, my bestest friend in the whole wide world." Guy said as hugged Sam tightly and kissed all over her face. "It's nice to meet you." Jake said as he stood to shake my hand. "The pleasure is all mine." I said as I shook his hand and continued to laugh as I watched the scene between Guy and Sam unfold. "Get...geroff...Get off me Guy! Sheesh, I'm covered in spit. If I wanted spit on my face I'd have brought my dog." Sam said, wiping the wetness from her face. "I wouldn't say a dog. You did call me and I came didn't I? You can just call me your friendly, neighborhood superhero." Guy said as he struck a pose with his chest puffed out and his head tilted high. "How about I just call you my favorite idiot? Yep, I think that might work." Sam said. "I'm sorry; I haven't been able to pry the idiot of me since you arrived. I'm Sam; it's nice to put a face to the name." She said. "It's not a problem," I told Sam. "I've only just met him and I know how clingy he is. He's like herpes, no matter how many times things look clear, you just can't get rid of him." I said, getting a punch in the arm from Guy and a pat on the back from Vanessa and Sam as while Jake laughed and Guy sulked. "I think you're going to fit right in here Andy." Vanessa said. "He's perfect!" Sam added. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, joke's over." Guy said. "You know, I'm glad you're getting along. Just don't get along too well or me and Stu are gonna have to tag team you." Guy kidded. "I doubt that would even work though. Speaking of which, where is Stu anyway?" he asked. "He said he was coming. He had to meet up with his roommate but... HEY STU!!!" Jake yelled. "So much for keeping it down," Vanessa said. "Here's the start of crazy hour." I turned my head to get a look at Stu and almost shit myself when their 'Stu' turned out to be Skye from earlier. "Hey Guy," I whispered. "I thought you said his name was Stu?" I asked him tensely. "Stu's just short for Stupid. It's just a nickname we gave him." Guy said. "Sorry I didn't tell you." Skye's gay? Was he REALLY hitting on me earlier? I sank down in my seat, hoping Skye hadn't spotted me yet. I could tell this was going to be the start of one LOOOONG night. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Author's Note: So how did you guys like Chapter 2.
