Without a word I lip locked his face. His eyes damn near popped out of his head. When I finished I looked into his eyes and asked, "What did you think of that?" He started to stutter so I went in for a 2nd round. This time he said, "Wow!" That was not his only reaction. Since I was pressed up against him I was able to notice that his cock was hard as a rock. I will say it felt big! He blushed and asked, "What the hell was that for?" I quickly responded, "Jason, may I come in. We need to talk." He laughed, grabbed a hold of me on my upper arm, pulled me inside his door and slammed it shut." Chapter 4 - Devon's POV: After spending some time with Jason and making out with him I headed back to my room. I wanted to talk to Riley but he was not there. I found a note from him telling me that he took Sam out on a date and that he would be back late. I smiled and called Jason to tell him about Sam and Riley's date. Both of us were very happy that our match making was going the right direction. I asked Jason if he wanted to come over to study and hang out with me. He said yes and that he would be over in about an hour. I then made a call to Sheriff Potter to talk to him since we had not spoken since I left for school. I was very happy to hear Sheriff Potter's voice. He asked if I was doing better. I told him that all was good but that I was still experiencing some sadness from missing Kurt. He asked if I was going to come home this weekend because if I was he wanted to make sure he was home for my visit. I thought about it and I said I would come home and I would head their direction Friday after my last class. He said that's great and that he will be looking forward to seeing me. I said, "Sheriff, I need to speak to you and Mrs. Potter face to face." He again asked if I was okay. His tone was of concern and love towards me. I told him I was okay but that I was having a little bit of a personal conflict and wanted their advice. Sheriff Potter told me that he would tell his wife and that they would be ready to visit with me Friday night. He closed with, "I love you and good night." I returned the sentiment and hung up just as Jason was knocking on the door. I let Jason in and we cleaned off the kitchen table so we could work on our homework together there. Before we started I asked Jason if we should order a pizza. He said, "Sure, pepperoni please." After I ordered the pizza we started studying and got the bulk of our homework done by the time the pizza was delivered. We cleared the books off the table and set up to eat. As we were eating I asked, "How are you feeling? Are you comfortable with the direction our friendship is going?" His reply came with a big smile on his face. "Devon I am doing just great. I cherish our friendship and would not change a thing about it for the whole world." With sarcasm I replied back, "That is interesting. So you would not change it for the whole world?" He mumbled a "That's right" as he continued to stuff some pizza in his mouth. I smiled and said, "Oh, so are you saying that you are not ready to upgrade our friendship to boyfriend status?" He almost chocked on the pizza he was eating. He had a look on his face between happy and fear. Once he composed himself he looked at me and asked, "Are you really serious?" I said, "Yes, very much so." He started to cry and so did I. He came over to me, took my hand and asked me again if I was sure that I was ready for a new relationship. I continued to sob a little as I told him, "Jason, I need to be ready now. If I don't move on now I never will. Your understanding, kindness and honesty along with the love I have received from you is the very boost I need to move on. Of course the letter I received today from Kurt is also a major contributing factor." Jason looked at me with a rather questioning face. I explained, "Earlier today Riley gave me a letter Kurt gave to him to give to me a few months ago. He misplaced the letter but his mother found it. She suggested that he make a special trip home to get it and he did just that, all for me. Would you like to read it?" He responded, "No. It is a private letter for you and you alone." I told Jason, "I appreciate your perspective. But actually, I want you to read it. What Kurt wrote to me is what pushed me over the edge to go see you this morning." I handed Jason the letter and said, "Please read it. I don't want you to feel threatened by my past. Kurt is now gone. You are not a replacement for Kurt but a new boyfriend. Someone that I want to share my love with." He smiled, took the letter, handed it back to me and then said, "I am not worried or concerned about your my past. I know Kurt deeply loved you. I hope to be able to give you all the love and support you deserve." Jason took me into his arms. We hugged and kissed. Oh my God. It felt so good. I have missed this for so long. I started to cry like a baby. It was a mix of joy, happiness and sadness all at the same time. Just as he was comforting me there was a knock on the door and we kind of chuckled. I wiped the tears from my eyes so I could answer the door. I almost peed my pants when I opened the door. It was Sheriff Potter and Mrs. Potter! I jumped and sort of yelled "DAD MOM!! What are you doing here?" Jason had walked over to us just as I got the words out of my mouth. I was caught off guard so Jason introduced himself to my adoptive parents. Dad asked if they could come in. Jason and I moved out of the way. I said, "Of course you can come in. You just caught me off guard is all. I'm sorry for being so slow to respond." Once we got into the room dad and mom sat down. Jason said, "Hey Devon, I need to be going. Call me later." So he collected his books, we hugged and he left. I sat down and asked, "Dad, mom, what brought you guys up to school?" Dad said, "After your call yesterday and the fact that Riley came home without you and us not knowing why sort of made us worried about you. So we talked it over and decided to come see you instead of waiting until next weekend." Mom spoke up next and in her normal tone asked, "What is troubling you? Did it have something to do with Riley coming home yesterday and your cryptic phone call?" I sort of became speechless, got emotionally upset and started to cry. Mom came over, hugged me and asked, "Is all this about Kurt?" I nodded yes. She said, "Oh baby, please don't be upset any more. I know it hurts. But you should be living a new live by now." I looked at mom and said, "But I feel like I am betraying him and both of you. I am so conflicted right now." I got up, went over to my book, pulled Kurt's letter out, handed it to mom and said, "This is what Riley went home to get for me. It is a letter from Kurt. Please feel free to read it if you want to. He was your son." Mom handed the letter back and replied, "No. This letter was written by Kurt, probably for your eyes only." Dad asked, "Devon, why are you so conflicted?" With that I started to pace back and forth. Just as I was about answer dad's question Riley and Sam came in. Riley stopped dead in his tracks and had a look of panic on his face. Riley asked, "Is everything was OK?" I told him that they came to see me because I called them about going home next weekend because I was having issues. Riley introduced Sam to them and Sam said she should go so all of us could all talk. She leaned over and kissed me on the cheek and then kissed Riley on the lips and then said good bye as she headed out the door. After she left Riley said, "So what up?" I stared at all of them for a few minutes and finally said, "I have asked Jason to be my boyfriend. I am feeling guilty about it and thought you would be upset with me for dating someone so soon." Dad walked over to me, pulled me into a bear hug and told me, "Devon, you obviously need to know that your mom and I will never be upset with you for dating or finding love. Your mom and I are very happy for you. Our greatest desire is for you to be happy. Now we only got to know Jason from that very brief introduction from just a little bit ago. As your parents don't you think you should give us an opportunity to get to know this Jason guy a little more intimately?" I was nervous about that but I called Jason anyway and asked if he would come back over and meet my parents more "fully" or would he be more comfortable if we came to his room. He immediately said that he would there in just a few minutes. Just as I hung up the phone there was a knock on the door. Everyone looked over at me and I just shrugged my shoulders and answered the door. Jefferson and Jamail asked if they could come in. So I let them in. Riley introduced them to my parents. I waited at the door for Jason who arrived shortly thereafter. With a big smile I introduced Jason to dad and mom again but this time as my boyfriend. They greeted for the 2nd time and shook hands. Jefferson and Jamail also congratulated us. Dad, mom, Jason and I went into my room to talk. Riley and the others stayed in the living room. Jason cut to the chase and spoke first to dad and mom. He was very respectful towards them and told them how sorry he was for their loss earlier this year. He told them that he did love me and that he was not pushing or rushing me into a relationship. He explained to them that he wants to be very understanding and respectful of my past relationship with Kurt and of any concerns they had with his relationship with their son. When Jason finished speaking dad and mom smiled at him and dad said, "My dear boy, thank you for your kind words. We have no doubt that you love Devon and that you will be true to your word. We just wanted an opportunity to get to know you better than what we did from just the simple handshake we first received. So thank you for coming back to Devon and Riley's room. We are sure Devon and Riley have told you the story of the last 2 years so we figure you are aware of all the baggage that comes with this family." Jason nodded yes. Mom got up, took him into a hug and said "Welcome to our family. We want you to plan on coming to visit us with Devon and Riley during your Christmas break." Jason was a little taken back but said, "Mrs. Potter, I would love to do that. Thank you so much for your invitation and for the very friendly welcome to your family that I just received." Dad and mom seemed very happy that Jason agreed to visit during Christmas break. As we walked back into the living room Riley had a big smile on his face. He gave Jason a hug and with a chuckle told him, "Brother, I will kick your ass if you hurt Devon or mess this new relationship of yours up. Do we have an understanding?" Jason just laughed and said, "Yes sir!" Riley then gave dad and mom a hug as well. Dad and mom then said their goodbyes. I did tell them I would still come home on Friday and whispered, "Can I bring Jason too?" Mom whispered back, "Yes." I was all smiles. Dad commented that is was good to see me smiling again. I walked them to their car. We kissed and hugged and then off they went. I now felt much better. It was like a cloud of despair was lifted. I was now looking forward to the next phase of my life. When I got back to our room Jason, Riley, Jefferson and Jamail were all talking. They all stopped and looked at me. Jason came up to me and asked if I was okay. I looked at him and then Riley and with a slight smile and some tears in my eyes I said, "Yes I am. For the first time in a long while I am okay." Jason hugged me and Riley joined in too. After we finally finished with our hugs we sat down. Jefferson picked up on the conversation that I had interrupted when I came back from the parking lot. He continued to explain to everyone that he and Jamail came over because they had some news regarding the trouble we have experienced with the break in of our room and the vandalism to our door. End of Chapter 4. Chapter 5 is a work in progress. Be on the lookout for it. It sounds as though Jefferson and Jamail are getting ready to help solve a mystery in Chapter 5. But I do not know that for a fact. Frank left me hanging again just like he did all of you. I will find out when I start to proofread Chapter 5. He has not sent it to me yet. All of you will find out as soon as Chapter 5 is posted to Nifty in the near future. - Samual Blake For those of you that sent feedback on "A New Start With Pain", thank you.
