It was dark out and the rain was soaking the grass, sidewalks and roads. I walked along grateful that I had my raincoat with the hood. As I walked along though, I was thinking about how the week was going so far. It was the end of the week and I hadn't found anyone who wanted to talk with me. That's how it's been for almost three years now. Some people say that whenever something bad happens and friends leave, aside from a few or maybe even just one or two, then you know for sure who your friends really are. I knew who mine were alright, and that was none at all. It's a long story of how it all happened and I don't know if it'll only drive people away when I tell it, especially when I find a boyfriend. Being gay has been difficult for me over the years and being out hasn't been easy either. My parents, brother and sister know and are accepting of me. They all wish for me to find friends and someone with whom I can share my life. Only time would tell though, that's what I had been telling myself at the time. I had gotten looks from girls many times over the past couple of years at school, and when they'd look at me for long moments, I turned my head. There was no way in Hell I was going to cover and pretend to be straight. I wouldn't use girls like that and it would probably bring back my old demons and probably make my family lose much if not all respect for me. While we're on the subject of looking though, I know I haven't described myself yet. I have black hair and sapphire-blue eyes like Caleb, but unlike him I'm completely sighted. I stand around 6-2 and am around 160 LBs with almost all of it being muscle. I guess I'm not that bad looking, but I always worry about if anyone will want me, not only as a friend, but as more than one. I was thinking all of this while walking in to the school. I went to my locker, and saw movement out of the corner of my eye. "Shit," I thought to myself. I figured it was going to be the kid who smarted off to me earlier that week. All week long, he was giving me hateful looks, and not saying anything to me. I just thought that if the worse I received from him was dirty looks and not verbal threats or beatings, then I'd be okay. "I hope it's not him again." I turned to my left and saw a guy looking at me. He had light-blond hair and sky-blue eyes. He stood around 5-1 and looked to be around 125 LBs and seemed a bit chubby. He was sporting a large and friendly smile, but he looked extremely shy though. I looked down, then up again and he continued to watch me. "Hi," I called out. "What's your name?" Quickly, he turned and walked away. I wanted to go after him, but I heard footsteps behind me and turned. It was the boy from Monday. "Saw you looking at that fag who was checking you out just now," the boy said. "I thought we got that straight on Monday about you talking to me like that," I said walking up to him. "I was talking about him being queer, not you," the boy said. "Sounds like you need to learn that it's not all about you." I closed my locker door and walked closer to him. I looked at him more intently this time and he definitely wasn't bad looking at all. This boy was around 6-1 and had dirty-blond hair and light-green eyes. He was clean-shaven and he looked like he was around 120 LBs, but not much muscle on him. "Okay," I began trying to stay calm. "You're not in any of my classes, but you and I clearly are going to be seeing one another at least in the morning and in the afternoon when we go to our lockers. I really don't want to argue with you. I'm not happy about being here at this place every day, I can guess you don't get any enjoyment out of this dump either, so let's not make it worse than it has to be by ripping one another up. If we have to just ignore one another, than I'm fine with that. Also, let's pretend for a moment that I am gay, even if I was gay, it's none of your business." "It is if you want to come in me from the back door," he shot back. "Yeah, that definitely is my business." "Well," I began. "I don't want that, and even if I did then it certainly wouldn't be with the likes of you." "Okay," he said backing away. "Fuck it then, see ya around." "Okay bye," I said with a smirk on my face. He turned as if to leave, then turned back to me. "You said a moment ago that you don't want me sexually right?" he asked. "Yeah," I said. "That's exactly what I said. Also, if you continue to make false charges like that, and the authorities at this school over-hear, then they might consider it sexual harassment." "Fine, whatever!" he said getting annoyed. "I'm just making sure that you're serious about not wanting to do things with me." "For the final time," I said stepping closer to him. "No!" "Okay," he said looking at me more intently than usual. Then what he said next surprised me and began the process of me caring for him a bit more than I did. "Just between you and I, I'm not happy about having to be rough like this. I guess we all have our problems to deal with." "What do you mean?" I asked. "Nothing," he said backing away. "I guess I'll see you when school is over today." "Okay," I said. "I'll see you later." I watched him go and wondered for a moment. Normally I have no patients with homophobic people, but this boy was truly afraid of something. It would have been easier to knock him out, but for one, I'd be no better than him and for two, it might escalate things. Later that day, I put my books in my locker to go to lunch and as I exited the building, I saw the boy again. Not the light-blond boy, but the one who had been giving me trouble. He was walking out of one of the other doorways and I figured that he was headed to the empty field that would be used for track and field. He looked like he had been crying and our eyes met for a moment. He quickly looked away and walked faster. I walked after him and he began walking even faster. "Hey!" I called out. "Wait!" "Leave me alone!" he yelled back. "I'm not heading this way because I want company!" He was stopped now and turned towards me. He had his hands at his sides, but they were curled tightly in to fists. "Look, if you're upset, I want to help if I can," I said. "Yeah, I don't like the way you've treated me this week, but I don't want to be careless towards you." "I'm surprised that you'd care," he said straightening out his hands. "I was just on my way to lunch if you want to come with me," I offered. "I don't have any money," he said. "I'm guessing you're going off grounds for lunch." "Yeah," I said. "Don't worry, I'll pay." "You don't have to do that," he said. "I want to," I said. After we had lunch, we still had a lot of time before we had to be back in the building. We were now sitting on the grass on the empty track and field area. He sat beside me with his legs crossed and his hands in his lap. His head was down for a moment and he looked like he wanted to say something. Just then, he looked up and turned his head to look directly at me. "Thanks for buying lunch for me," he said softly. "Also, I'm sorry for how I've acted towards you all this week." "You're welcome about lunch," I began. "As for you apologizing, I accept your apology." "Thank you," he said looking down again. He looked up at me again and he swallowed hard. "Can I ask you a question?" "Yeah," I said. "I know I've called you a faggot a few times and accused you of being gay." "I know," I said. "I forgive you for that if that's what you're asking about." "No!" he said loudly and he looked close to crying again. "Just take your time," I said softly. He took a moment and I could see that he really was trying to get himself under control. He looked up at me again and he scooted closer to me. "Sorry for getting impatient with you just now," he said. "This is really hard." "It's okay," I said. He looked down again, then looked up at me again. "I know you said that it's none of my business even if you are gay." "Yeah," I said. "That's what I said earlier." "So if you were gay," he hesitantly began. "You wouldn't tell anyone?" "I mean, that I wouldn't tell anyone who's going to give me a hard time for who I am," I explained. "If a friend or family member is okay with it, then I'd tell them, but if they won't accept me, then they don't get to know about me." "I see," he said. "If I promise not to give you shit about it anymore, would you be honest with me about if you really are gay or not?" "Well, I would," I said. "I don't even know your name though, so I guess we should start with that." "I'm Christian," he said and held out his hand. I shook it, then let go. "I'm Kevin," I replied. "I'm glad to meet you." "I'm glad to meet you too Kevin," he said. "So yeah," I began. "I am gay." "When did you choose to be that way?" he asked. Normally I get pissed at this question, but I could see that he really was ignorant to this subject. "Well, with you being straight, I'm sure you didn't choose that for yourself," I said. "I'm sure that you didn't wake up one day when you began physically changing and decide that you'd get hard over thoughts of being with girls." "So you're saying that it wasn't like that for you when you knew that you're gay?" he asked looking closer at me. "No, not at all," I said. The bell sounded and we both got up. I wrote my number down on a piece of paper and handed it to him. "No," I said smiling. "I'm not giving you my number for whatever reasons you're probably thinking, I just want you to have it in case you want or need to talk to someone." He blushed hard and looked down for a moment, then looked up at me. "Thanks Kevin," he said. "maybe I can call you tonight and we can hang out sometime over the weekend." "Yeah," I said. "I'd like that. Caleb Nathan and I met up at his locker and got our things. We then went through the doors and out in the bright and sunny day. I walked along for a few minutes holding on to one of the handle bars of Nathan's wheelchair and he wheeled himself along. Then he spoke. "So what do you want to do when we get home?" "I haven't decided yet," I said. "I'm sure we'll figure it out soon though." Once home, Nathan's mom was there. I introduced myself to her and she did the same. "I'm Amy," she said shaking my hand. "I'm glad to finally meet you in person!" She and I talked on the phone briefly the night before when we finalized our plans for me to stay the weekend with Nathan. She seemed nice and I figured she would be nice in person as well. "I'm glad to finally meet you in person as well," I replied. "Also, thanks for letting me stay over this weekend! I've really enjoyed getting to know Nathan and I'm sure you and I will get along really well." "I'm sure we will as well," she responded. That night, Amy made stake, roasted garlic potatoes and a salad. It was all really good and afterwards we had pecan pie and vanilla ice-cream for dessert. It was all really good and I definitely wouldn't need anything for a snack later on, not after all of that. Once dinner was finished, I helped Amy wash and dry the dishes. Nathan helped with cleaning out the oven and wiping down the counter tops, then he finished up some quick assignments they gave us for homework. I finished it all in study hall earlier that afternoon. That was the only class that Nathan and I didn't have together. The time when I'd be in study hall, he'd be in the gym working with a physical therapist trying to work out his muscle spasms. So he had to wait and do the work that night which didn't take him long to do. He finished up and put everything back in his bag. He hung his bag up on the coat rack by the door to the house and wheeled himself over to where Amy and I were finishing up the dishes. We let him dry the last couple of dishes, then after we all three talked for a couple of minutes, Nathan and I went to his room. "Would you like to sit down?" Nathan asked. "Sounds good," I said. We sat down beside one another and Nathan moved closer to me. "I forgot to close the door," he said. "Did you want to go do it?" I asked. "Or do you want me to get it since you've already moved from your chair and on to the bed." "If you want to get it this time," he began. "I'll be fine with that." "Okay," I said. Once the door was closed, I came back to where I had been sitting before and reclaimed my seat. Nathan moved even closer now and leaned in to me. I put an arm around him and he snuggled even closer. I sat there holding him close and I put my face so that my nose was pressed to his hair and I breathed in deeply. His hair smelled good and sweet. I could feel myself beginning to stiffen and I hoped that he wouldn't see since my legs were slightly apart. Nathan I had my head down and Caleb was breathing in deeply. I was in a good position to see the lump growing between his legs and I wanted him badly. All that week, I wondered about what his lips would feel like on mine, what his naked body would feel like pressed against mine and most of all I wondered what it would feel like to stroke his hard shaft and balls with my hand. I also wondered what it would be like to suck on him and feel his cream flood my mouth. Caleb I was wondering what it would be like to make love to Nathan. I thought all that week and especially that evening about what it would be like to feel our naked bodies pressed tightly together. I wondered what it would feel like to feel his cock in my mouth as I would slide my mouth up and down on it while my hands would lightly and lovingly stroke and tickle his balls. My thoughts were interrupted when Nathan moved out of my embrace. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Yeah," he replied. "I just forgot that I need to plug in my phone. Nathan I really did need to charge my phone, but I needed to have a moment to breathe. My thoughts were making me even more aroused. As I continued to sit there thinking about making love to Caleb, I felt like I'd come any moment and I didn't want that. So I figured I'd distract myself for a moment. I was also thinking about how much I wanted Caleb to sleep beside me in bed, but I was worried about how he'd react to me asking that of him. I hoped that he wouldn't freak out and get mad then leave. I got my phone plugged in to the charger, then came back to sit down beside my best friend. Caleb Nathan came back over and sat down beside me again. He scooted close to me again, and I could feel his eyes on me. He was clearly looking at me and I waited to see if he'd say something. "Thanks for staying with me tonight as well as this weekend," he said softly. "It really means a lot to me." "I feel the same way," I responded. "Thanks for letting me in and opening up to me." "You're welcome," he answered. Over the next couple of hours, we looked up music on Youtube and watched a little TV, but mostly we just talked. The whole time though, we had physical contact with one another in some sort of way. Either Nathan would keep his arm pressed against mine or he'd touch me on the arm or shoulder when making a point. I'd do the same and I was enjoying the closeness. After a while though, around 10:00 P.M., Amy knocked softly on the door. We called for her to come in and she did. "I wanted to let you guys know that I'll be going to bed and I wanted to see if there was anything you need before I do." "I'm okay," Nathan said. "I don't need anything." "I'm fine also," I answered. "Okay," she said. "I have to go in tomorrow from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. to cover for a nurse who's sick. When I get back, I figured that I could take you both out for lunch." "I'd like that," I said. "Thanks Amy." "Yeah," Nathan said excitedly. "I'd like that also! Thanks!" "Okay," she said. She came over to both of us and hugged Nathan, then I let her hug me and I hugged her back. After saying good night, Nathan and I lay back on the bed. We both knew I was sleeping beside him that night. We hadn't talked about it, but it felt right to both of us without either of us saying anything. I lay there closing my eyes and I felt Nathan put his hand on my arm and rub gently. "If you're getting tired," he began. "We can go to bed now if you want." "Okay," I said. "I'm not too tired though, and I'm just glad to be here with you." "So am I," he said and lay down next to me and turned on his side then put an arm across my stomach. "Oh, I wanted to ask how you like to sleep. Do you sleep without a shirt or with one?" "Mostly without," I said. "If you actually want me to sleep beside you tonight I can and if you want me to keep a shirt on, then I'll do that as well." "You don't have to keep a shirt on beside me," he said looking at me. "I don't wear a shirt either." "Cool," I said. I removed mine and he did the same. We lay there in the silence just listening to one another breathing. I felt Nathan move up against me and put an arm across my stomach. I smiled and turned so that I could wrap an arm around him and hold him close. "Thanks," he said. "You're welcome," I said. "Thanks for the arm across my stomach." "No problem," he replied. After we talked for a few more minutes, I began to feel my eyelids get heavy. I yond widely, and Nathan hugged me tighter, then sat up. "Are you tired now?" he asked. "Yeah," I replied. "I'm getting there fast." "Well, would you mind massaging my legs and feet again?" he asked softly. "That's really been helping a lot." "Yeah," I responded. "It's no trouble at all." "Thanks Caleb," he said. "You're welcome," I replied. "Anything for you Nathan, anything at all." I hugged him for a moment while saying that last part, then released him so I could sit up and do as he asked. After I finished, he surprised me by asking if he could do the same. I agreed and he spent a while doing the same to me. It felt good and soon, I was falling fast asleep. As I was drifting off, I felt him move back beside me. He put the covers over both of us and snuggled in to me. He lay on his side with me spooning him from behind. He felt amazing against me, not just sexually, but emotionally and in every other way imaginable. Once he was in my arms, we both drifted off and were asleep deeply and contently. Author's Notes I figured that this would be a good place to stop. I said that I'd begin to bring them closer and that Nathan would begin to soften up and I hope I've done a good job with that. I also hope I've done a good job with slowly bringing Christian from darkness and in to the light; my way of saying that he's beginning to become a better person. So everyone have a good evening, and I'll see everyone in Chapter Four.
