He arrived home for the summer holiday. He hadn't seen his parent's house for a year. He just came to realize that he hadn't missed it. It was like his life from before when he was someone else. He stopped for a minute and saw a dim light upon Mr. Staunton's window. Andy hadn't decided yet if he wanted to tell about Mr. Staunton to his parents. He knew it was the right thing and he would have done it earlier, still it was hard now even thinking about it. He continued his way into the house. His parents welcomed him and escorted him to his room and had dinner together. `So, are you still...?' said his father. `Well, dad; let's say I'm feeling very well!' said Andy both laughing and crying inside. `Don't ask him such questions!' said his mom. `I was one of the leaders in the acting club...' And Andy told his parents everything about his acting experiences and how he chose to be an actor. They weren't so happy, but they thought it was better than being gay. Andy went up to his room and lay down. He spent the next few days off and just played computer games and read books and watched movies. It became boring after some time, so he decided to have a walk one sunny day, maybe stop by at the soccer field. He put on his t-shirt and shorts and went out. He strolled around the forest and enjoyed his moments alone. It was nearly sunset when he found himself at the field. Two teams were playing. Some local boys, everyone younger than him except for one. It was Pete playing for one of the teams. He played terribly and looked terrible. He had unshaven face and looked like as if he was drunk. He had his hair dirty and long. He was in an awful condition. Andy hided among the buses and just watched the match. He saw Pete making a fool of himself. He yelled at those poor kids who played with him and humiliated him, laughed at him. Pete just waved around like he was crazy. In the end, the kids left him and he dropped to the ground. He was just lying there, he was so pathetic. Andy went to him and helped him up. `Who are you? Do I know you?' mumbled Pete. He was surely drunk and probably got some drugs too. His eyes were cloudy and he barely managed to hold himself. `What's with you, Pete? What happened to you? I'm Andy!' Andy was shaken. `Andy? I once knew an Andy...' Pete vomited, and fell off of his feet again. Andy was able to dodge but he jumped into a position from where he was unable to catch Pete falling. His first love was lying on the ground again and his head began to bleed. `You're hurt! Let's get you home, Pete.' Andy pulled him up and helped him stay, but it was clearly impossible for Pete to walk now. There was nothing else to do. He lifted the limp body and carried him in his arms. Andy had just realized that Pete was shaking. He was totally wasted. Andy saw numerous scars on Pete's arms, he was definitely a drug addict. He carried him home and put him on the veranda. He rang the bell and went back to the shaking body. He tried to cover him something for defending his body from the cold that hadn't existed. Andy was terrified of the look. What had become of his friend? It was a horrible thing that made him this. `Pete? Is that you?' Pete's mother came out of the house. `Andy! You're home!' `Hello! I've found him out in the field. What's with him?' `Something happened to him. It started just about around that time you departed to your new school, no one knows why... Pete got himself into some serous stuff...' she began to cry `He started using drugs. He had his fights with his father. He ran away twice. We were at the psychologist with him but he refused to tell anything. It's so terrible, Andy! He failed to pass his exams and were expelled from school. I don't know what to do anymore!' `I'm so...' Andy was shocked. `Don't you mail each other? You were best friends!' `No, we sort of...' `Do you know something? Why is he in such a deep...' `I don't know!' said Andy looking at the broken lady. `Well could I come around tomorrow? I'll try to speak with him. I'll see what I can do.' said Andy. `You are so kind! Thank you, Andy! I'm so hopeless, you know...' Pete vomited again and that stopped the conversation between Andy and Pete's mother. She pulled Pete back into the house and Andy started to be on his way home. But his mind was racing. What could have caused this? Pete looked like such a strong willed person, such a strong boy. What could break him like that? And that was the exact moment when Andy began to realize the cause. Mr. Staunton. He must have been it. But what on earth could he do to him? Andy felt anger and hatred and unstoppable pain in his chest. He went home and couldn't think about anything else but talking with Pete the following day. He wanted to help Pete who surely visited the deepest pit of Hell. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Andy's life -- ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Next time -- -- Chapter 20 -- -- Self-Defence -- ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Please give me feedback! -- -- endi.kovacsendi@gmail.com -- ------------------------------------------------------------ -- -- -- Now I have the whole series planned. -- -- There are only two chapters left of 'Andy's life' -- -- -- -- Chapter 21 -- -- Love you forever -- -- -- ------------------------------------------------------------
