I opened my eyes and saw him holding a somewhat small wrapped box. "Morning," I yawned. "What's that?" He handed me the box and smiled. "It's an early Christmas present. It's Christmas Eve and I am demanding you open one." "One? You mean there's more?" I asked. "Yup," "Oy," It felt a little on the heavy side. I tore off the paper and opened the box. "Tommy..." I trailed off. The prize inside was something I hadn't ever expected. Tommy blew up one of our pictures from the mall. The one where we were kissing each other with our eyes closed. It was sitting in a silver frame with engravings. "Tommy <3 Zac" and "2007" and "Love Me Forever" were all over the frame. I was so touched by this simple act I started to get watery-eyed. "I started to figure your presents out last week. And when I was looking around my room I remembered our pictures from that day." Tommy said. "This is...it's..." I couldn't put my feelings into words at that moment. I just opened my arms for him. He leaned down and wrapped his arms around me while I cried on his shoulder. "This is the best gift anyone could have ever given me." "Even..." "Yes, even Hunter. I mean, he gave me great and thoughtful gifts, but that's in the past now right? I have to look into the future. Do you know what I see?" I asked him. My crying had slowly stopped. I leaned back from Tommy and looked him in the eyes. "No, what?" "You. I see you and me holding hands down a crowded street. I see us at a beach watching the sunset. I see us cooking dinner together in a nice house." I said softly. This time it was Tommy who became teary. "I love you, Zac." he said, barely above a whisper. I pulled him onto me and gave him a sweet and passionate kiss. "I love you too, Tommy." We lied in each others' arms until a voice broke us apart. "Tommy, Zac, breakfast!" Stacy shouted from the kitchen. Thursday I told Tommy that I wanted to spend some time at his house. He's been over a lot, but I've rarely been to his. He told me that he'd have me over a lot more, but the fact that I wasn't comfortable there made him not bring it up. That made sense. It also made sense that I told him in order to get over the uncomfortable feelings, I had to face them. Besides, I really like his mom. She's so nice and reminds me of my mom. "I don't want to let you go," Tommy whined. I smiled to myself thinking of how truly sweet he is. "I don't either babe, but we have to, just for now." I said softly. He sat up and pulled me along with him. "Coming mom," he said. We walked in the kitchen and was greeted by a buffet of breakfast. There were eggs and bacon and sausage and pancakes and toast. "Wow," I muttered. My stomach suddenly let out a loud roar. Tommy giggled and got me a plate. "Hungry?" Stacy laughed. "I'm always hungry," I loaded my plate with everything. There was barely enough room for my fork. Stacy and Tommy started to eat with me closely following. After breakfast we all just started talking about our holiday plans. Tommy and I had to be at our own houses tonight since it's Christmas Eve. But Stacy said that tomorrow they had no plans and would probably be eating alone. This struck a thought in my head. "I have to use the bathroom," I ran down the hall into Tommy's room. I got my cell phone out and dialed my house. "Hello?" Brian answered. "Brian, put mom on the phone quick!" I said excitedly. "Hi sweetheart," mom said. "Mom, can Tommy and his mom come over for dinner tomorrow?" I asked in a hurry. "Yes, of course! I've been wondering when I was going to meet her!" she said happily. "All right, I'll see you later then. Love you." "Love you too," We hung up and I walked back out into the dining room. Tommy and Stacy were talking about nothing unparticular. "Well, I should probably get home soon." I said. Tommy's expression turned downward when I said that. "Oh," he said. "Let's go watch a movie first. Or two. Or three." Stacy smiled at us before walking in the kitchen and starting the few dishes that were in the sink. Once stepping into his room he immediately started to kiss me. His hands lifted my shirt over my head and threw it across the room. I walked backwards, falling on his bed. He hastily unbuttoned my pants, pulling them down to my ankles. He engulfed my dick in a heartbeat. A wave of pleasure swept through my body with no pause. "Tommy..." I moaned breathlessly. My eyes were slightly going to the back of my head. I was in complete ecstasy. "God, Tommy, I'm cumming," I grunted with a thrust that squirted quite a load in his mouth. I laid there breathing heavily with Tommy kissing my stomach and chest softly. "Your turn," I seductively hissed. He got on his back. I pulled his pants down to the ankles. As I took him in my mouth his cell phone rang. "Hello?" he answered hesitantly. I didn't stop sucking. Instead, I increased my sucking and used my tongue to swirl around his head. "Oh," he moaned in a hushed tone. "No, no, I'm okay. I just stubbed my toe. Yeah, uh huh," He squeezed his legs together signaling his climax was near. "Okay, I'll see you then. Yep, can't wait." He hung up and bucked his hips. I felt his hot juice shooting in my mouth. A long moan was easily flowing from his mouth. I laughed at his pleasure. "Who was that on the phone?" Tommy panted, "Just...an old friend." I laid my head on his chest. "He's coming out next week to visit for a little while." I raised my head back up once hearing "he." "He? Is this `he' gay?" I asked. "Yeah, but don't worry babe. Him and I go back a few years. He's been there for me when I've needed him most. We've never even done anything together." he explained. I'm not to clear as to why, but I have this feeling of jealousy and fear now. "What's his name?" "Erik," Figures. A predator name. Well, there was this Erik at school who started shit with me because I was dating Hunter. He was mad because Hunter liked me at all. So if your name is Erik then no offense to you in particular. "I should go," I blurted out. I quickly got up and started getting dressed. "What? I thought we were going to just lay here and...cuddle." Tommy asked worriedly. I suddenly felt even worse with added guilt. "I have to go," I lied. I was beginning to get in panic mode. Tommy noticed and walked in front of me, wrapping me in his arms. "Zac it's okay," he whispered. "I don't want to lose you," I cried. "Baby you're not going to lose me. I love you, not Erik. I haven't even ever felt anything for Erik ever." "Really?" "Yes," "I'm sorry," "No, don't be," Tommy rubbed my back gently. "Besides, Erik isn't even that gay. He is very subtle with things." "Well, if he tries kissing you or anything like that I am going to personally kick his ass." Tommy pulled back and smiled at me. "You'd have to wait your turn." "I really should go though," "Not without a goodbye gift," he said. He leaned forward and kissed me passionately. His tongue was wildly dancing inside my mouth. "I love you, Zac." "I love you too, Tommy. I'll see you tomorrow." I grabbed my bag and began walking through the hallway. Stacy was sitting in the living room when I walked out. "Now don't be such a stranger over here. You are always welcome to come over." Stacy said with a smile. "I won't. I'll probably be back on Tuesday if that's okay?" I asked. "Yeah, sounds like a plan." she said happily. "Okay mom I'll be right back," Tommy said, taking his car keys out of his pocket and swinging them on his finger. We walked out into the freezing weather and quickly got into his car. "Why don't you drive anymore? Is it because of the accident?" "Yeah, I'm terrified to get behind the wheel. I also feel guilty still." I said, almost inaudible. "Well, if you ever want to try again just let me know." Tommy said. "Thanks," We made small talk on the way to my house. Within a few minutes, he was pulling along the sidewalk in front of my house. He opened his door, but I stopped him. "Don't get out," I blurted. "I don't want to make you get out." I leaned over and kissed him in a wild passion. I grabbed my bag in the back. "I'll call you later, okay?" "Are you okay? You're not mad or sad right?" he asked worriedly. "Positive," I smiled. There was no lie in those words. "Okay then, bye." he said happily. "Bye," I smiled for reassurance. I quickly walked inside, waving goodbye to Tommy one last time. "Mom, I'm home." I stepped in the kitchen and noticed how great it smelt. "Hi honey," mom said. "I'm gonna go shower," "All right," I tossed my bag in my room and turned the water on as hot as it could go. As much as I hated washing Tommy's scent off of me I had to shower. The steam from the water was invigorating to breathe in. My body was becoming less tense with every drop. Something on my body seemed to be hard. I can't even begin to imagine how. Tommy and I have blown each other nearly twice a day. I guess it's because of a new relationship, but still. As I felt the hot water take on a sudden chill I hurriedly turned it off and stepped out, walking back to my room. Mom had done my laundry for me and laid it out on my bed. That was so like her. After I got dressed I went downstairs and spent time with my family. Many hours and many anecdotes later, it was a tradition in our household to open one present Christmas Eve. "Here you go Zac," mom said as she handed me a present. Everyone else began opening their single present from others as well. Bit by bit the wrapping fell of my present. I then proceeded into opening the box to see a gift that I never expected. "Whoa," I gasped. "Everyone pitched in some money and got you a new one since yours is a few years old now." mom explained. I can't believe they bought me a new laptop. And this was just a present that I got the night before Christmas morning. Who knows what I had to await me. Tears flooded my eyes as I was looking down at the receipt. "We'll go and get it on Tuesday. They said that they'd have it in by then." I looked up at everyone who had their attention on me. This was one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. A surge of happiness coursed through my body. Of course, that moment of happiness only lasted for a few seconds. It was suddenly replaced with a much more sullen emotion; guilt. The realization that I haven't bought one thing for anyone, including Tommy, brought tears of sorrow to my eyes replacing the happy ones. One tear escaped my eyes, sliding down my right cheek. As I looked around the room I saw loved ones. The guilt took over and I ran upstairs crying. I slammed my door and locked it. Then I proceeded to fall on my bed crying my eyes out. A knock on my door shook me out of my trance. "Zac, open the door please." mom said softly. But I couldn't move. The guilt was weighing down on me with a great force. My depression had suddenly taken a very bad turn. I realized I had sleeping pills in my nightstand. I pulled the drawer out and grabbed the pills. "Zac, open the door!" Again I didn't respond. "Shawn!" she screamed, running down the stairs. She must have heard me get the pills. I took one pill out and set it aside taking two more out. "Zac, open the door." dad said. He started pounding on it. Now I had a choice. There were three pills lying out on my nightstand with a cup of water from a few days ago. Fuck it. I grabbed all three and swallowed them. I coughed a few times, feeing the pills glide into my stomach. "Zac!" mom screamed. My door suddenly kicked in and mom and dad rushed to my side. "Should I call an ambulance?" "No," dad sighed. "He only took three, look," He took the pill package from the nightstand and showed it to my mom. "Only three missing." I had a far out look in my eyes before my eye lids closed for the last time before tomorrow. "So, what happened?" I heard someone ask. "Well, he got upset for some reason and ran up here before locking himself in his room and took three sleeping aids." I heard mom explain quietly. "Can I have a moment alone with him?" "Sure, I'll be downstairs." Mom walked out of my room, gently closing the door behind her. I felt the bed sink down a little next to me. "Zac," I blinked my eyes open and saw Tommy next to me. "Hi," I said coarsely. I could tell I slept through the night since sunlight was now glimmering through my blinds. "Hi cute stuff," he smiled weakly. "How are you feeling?" "I feel a little woozy," Tommy gently rubbed his hand on my right cheek. "Zac, why would you do this to yourself?" The memory of last night slowly returned to me. I turned my head away from Tommy as tears started flowing from my eyes. "I didn't get anyone a present." "Well, that's okay," "But last night my mom had me open one present. I opened it and it was a receipt for a new laptop. That's when I realized I failed to get anyone a gift, including you." I said with disgust in my voice. "That's okay, Zac. No one really minds that you didn't. And I know that I don't even need a gift from you." Tommy said nicely. "This might sound corny, but the love you give me is the best gift in the world." I turned my gaze back to him and smiled weakly. "Thanks," "Please don't ever do this again. I can't imagine being without you." Tommy said sadly. A stray tear fell down his left cheek. "I'm sorry," I cried. Tommy grabbed my hand and kissed it with a smile. "Don't be sorry." The world seemed to suddenly get better. "Let's go downstairs." "All right," I tried sitting up, but I felt sore and tired still. Tommy threw an arm behind my neck and helped me stand. I had my arm draped over his shoulder as he assisted me in walking down the stairs that never seemed to never end. "Morning everyone," Tommy said cheerfully. He was obviously alerting everyone I was down here. That, and the fact I tried to check myself in for a permanent sleep, made my cheeks redden significantly. "Hungry boys?" mom and grandma asked in unison. "Yeah," I said. Tommy pulled out a chair and helped me sit at the table. Brian was sitting at the table with us, giving me a sympathetic look. "Babe, I have to go, but I will see you in a couple hours, all right?" Tommy said to me. He got on his knees and held my hand in my lap. "Okay," I said, slightly disappointed. He kissed me on my forehead. "Bye everyone," he announced, before walking out the front door. "Mom, what time is it?" I asked as she placed some food in front of me. "It's about ten, why?" "Just checking," I began to eat the pancakes she made me. Everyone else was just sitting around and talking. After I ate, mom asked if I was up to opening more presents. I hesitated for a second before remembering what Tommy told me. "Sure," The family gathered around the tree and started handing each other gifts. It was a flurry of unwrapping activity. Thankfully everyone's attention wasn't solely on me. They were to busy with their own presents. Mom handed me five presents to open. I was hoping they wouldn't be too expensive considering I didn't get them anything. I got a three new CD's in one, and then five movies in another, the next one contained a new cell phone; one that I have wanted for a long time. The next one was heavier and larger. Since I had gotten new movies I guess my parents figured I'd need a new DVD player. And last, but not least I got a...car key remote. I looked up at my parents with disbelief. I hurriedly jumped up from my seat and almost ran through the front door to see it sitting there. My car that had been impounded the night of the accident was now sitting in front of my house. It looked brand new to me. "Your old one was a bit expensive to fix so we both figured that it'd be better to just buy you a new one with the insurance money." dad explained to me. Him and mom walked up behind me, both placing a hand on each of my shoulders. "But I'm not ready to drive yet," I said, still in complete shock. "That's okay. You can take as long as you need to. Just know that your car is going to be ready whenever you are." mom said. I turned around and hugged them both. "Thank you so much," I felt the tears well up in my eyes, but I had no intention to hold them back. "I'm sorry about last night..." "Shh, sweetheart, no need for that. Just don't do that again, all right?" mom said. I could sense the worry in her voice. "Can you tell us why you did it exactly?" "I felt guilty after opening my present because I didn't get anyone anything." I sighed. "Oh, Zac, you don't have to get us anything. Your life is the best gift you can get any of us." mom said. "Yeah sport, we don't need any kind of a gift from you." dad said. "Well, I'm still going to get you something. I'm supposed to be getting my last pay check in the mail any time now." I said, pulling back from them both. "And that is not up for discussion." "Fine, but this isn't up for discussion either. You are going to be with someone at all times for an entire week." mom said sternly. I groaned, "Okay," After an hour had passed, Tommy called me and told me that he would be over around one. The day has been dragging on, but it is finally one. Tommy did say around one, but I really hope he hurries. I so want to wrap my arms around him. "Sweetie, do you want to help me back some cookies? It'll burn time waiting for your lover." mom asked me. I have been sitting near the front window overlooking our porch for the past two hours. Although, I'd occasionally walk in the dining room and chat with everyone. Of course, they could chat with me by the window as well. It's only a few feet away from everything including the front door. "Yeah I guess I will," I said cheerfully. I walked in the kitchen and awaited my orders. "Okay, go ahead and crack those eggs in a bowl for now." mom said. "I love you," I said out of the blue. "What?" mom asked, somewhat surprised. "I realize that I haven't said that in a while." I admitted shamefully. "I love you too, kiddo." she smiled. We continued making our cookie dough and just talking shooting the breeze. It was nice to just talk to mom after so long. The men, including Brian, were watching some game on TV. Nancy and grandma were at the dining room table prepping it for tonight's dinner. As mom and I placed a couple cookie sheets in the oven the doorbell rang. I instantly knew it was Tommy. "Hey there cutie," he said as I opened the door. He walked in and hung his jacket up. "Hi, Kendra." "Hello, Tommy." mom said. "Zac, you can go on upstairs if you want. I'm just going to clean up." "All right, thanks mom." I said before yanking Tommy upstairs into my room. "I have to go and pick my mom up at six. That's when we're having dinner I guess." Tommy said. "Yeah, the women are having an outing in the kitchen." I laughed. He stepped in front of me, placing his lips on top of mine. "Mmm, I missed you." he moaned. "I missed you too," I moaned in reply. "Did mom tell you about the watching me thing?" "Yeah, and you are so not ever going to be out of my sight." he said seriously. "Look Tommy, I'm sorry about that. I just..." "No, Zac, it's all right. I told you that I can't imagine my life without you and I really can't." he said softly. "I love you," "I love you too," * "Did you tell your mom about my accident?" I asked him. We drove to his house and are now waiting for his mom to come to the car. "Of course I did. She was mortified Zac." Tommy said softly. "Great," I groaned. "Don't worry, she still likes you a lot. But now she just is going to worry about you like crazy." "I can live with that," I smiled. I leaned over the center and started kissing him. We broke our lock when hearing his front door close. Stacy ran to the car and quickly got in the back. "Whoa it is cold out there, huh?" she laughed. She really looked pretty. Her long brown hair took a slight curl which was perfectly matched with her outfit. It didn't look like she had a lot of make-up on, but in truth she did not need it at all. "All right, let's get out of here now." Tommy said, turning up the heat in his Fusion. I really liked his car. It was spacious and comfortable and really smooth on the road. In minutes, we were back at my house. Stacy told us that she was a bit nervous to meet my family, but we both quickly reassured her. We told her that they were really nice, and the fact that she had brought dessert would help her fit in. She got a laugh out of that one. I opened the door and we were welcomed with a burst or warm air and smells of Christmas dinner. "Mom, dad, this is Stacy," I said, walking into the dining room. "Hi, I'm Kendra and this is Shawn. It is so nice to finally meet you." mom said warmly. "Likewise," Stacy said happily. We all sat down at the table and admired the food that was in front of us. The table suddenly burst with movement. Everyone started their mindless chatter. Stacy and my parents were getting along really well. They seemed to never stop talking to each other. Of course, Stacy was also talking with my grandparents and aunt and uncle. While we were eating there came a knock on our door. No one really thought anything weird of it except for the fact that it's Christmas. I ran up to the door and was a little taken aback. "Hi, is this the Grant residence?" the officer asked. "Yes, can I help you?" I asked him with a smile. "Are you Zac?" he asked. Tommy was watching us the entire time. When the officer asked me name, Tommy came and stood off to my side. Everyone else seemed to kind of hush down a bit. Mom and dad were standing from their seats, but didn't move up to the door. "Yes, what is going on?" Panic was suddenly coursing through my mind. "About four weeks ago you were involved in an accident. The driver of the other vehicle was drunk when he hit you and fled the scene. Well, we've caught him and I need a statement from you." the officer explained calmly. Pain quickly replaced the panic and I started to breathe heavily. Tommy rubbed my back and smiled at me trying to calm me down before I had an attack. The memory of that night was brought back fresh in my mind. There is a reason people can't wait for Christmas, and it has little to do with family reunions. Or curling up with a cup of eggnog. Or that unexpected kiss beneath the mistletoe. Or receiving a present from that special someone. No, people look forward to Christmas because they know it's a time for miracles. * * * * * * * * * * * Feel free to send comments and criticism to the e-mail given at the top of every chapter, or try something new.
