How much more original could this scene be. I looked back up to the the SMART board, and ignored the glances of my fellow classmates. However I could feel one that did not waver, instead in burned into the back of my head. I shook it off and it quickly disappeared allowing me to refocus on the task our teacher was explaining to us. It was some sort of writing assignment, that I would probably ace anyway. I considered myself to be a good writer, better than most people in my school. Now don't get me wrong, I have the farthest thing from an ego but I'm not afraid to show my intelligence. Glancing at the clock, I saw it was 12:40, 5 minutes till 7th period let out, and I could see everyone fidgeting in their seats. It seemed that I was the only one interested in the Civil War, which was sad. After that thought, the bell began to blare and the room quickly emptied and as I picked up my binder I made eye contact with my friend Kevin. Kevin was very good looking, with shiny brown hair that just passed his ears, full pink lips, and chocolate brown eyes with emerald green around the iris. He flashed me a shy smile and followed his friends out of the building. I cast a glance towards my friends Kyle, Ryan, and David; and saw Kyle and David dragging Ryan out of his seat and to his feet. He has never been an enthusiastic one when it came to working. As we exited one building and walked towards the other, I could see Kevin and Bradley walking side by side. Brad was also good looking, although rather short he had medium length brownish blonde hair, high cheekbones, and piercing blue eyes. I thought to myself, "Two boys that are way outta my league." Although I tried to keep the cynical side of me down, it still announced itself now and again. We entered the building, and split up. Ryan, Kyle, and I went to Spanish while David went to Math. As we walked into the Spanish room, I took a minute to survey everyone. Too many good looking boys, and several pretty girls for one class if you had asked me. I sat at the table where my other friends Kyle M, Jeff, and Tyler were talking, probably about cars, baseball, or some other arbitrary topic. As I sat down Kyle M asked how the game was last night. He wasn't there and that was a good thing as we had been 10 runned by one of the best teams in the league. When I told him, he replied with "Thought so." I shook my head and smiled and that' when I felt someone staring at me again. I looked around the room, and I saw two people quickly divert their eyes. It was Kevin and another friend Tyler, which I found odd. Tyler and I had a running gag that we were "fuck buddies" so I kinda expected that. But, the only time that Kevin looked at me was when I was looking at him first. "If only I could capitalize," I once again let those cynical thoughts run through my head. Our teacher assigned us a worksheet on congregating -er and -ir verbs, and that took most of the period. When most of us had finished up, there was still about 5 minutes left until the classes changed. Senora gave us that time to talk, and I listened while Kyle M complained about how the carb on his dirt bike was hopelessly gummed up. After that I talked to the other Kyle about the new computer he was getting for his grades. We discussed some stuff like Gmod and Xbox. When the bell rang, everyone once again shuffled out of the room and across the hall. It was almost like watching an assembly line, one class would leave the room and then another would enter although this assembly line was ready to leave and go home. Our last class was Communications and that could be tough to get through after a long day which is exactly what everyday at the Charter school was. Whether it was the drama people spewed, or the rumors they spread I had trouble getting up in the morning to come here. We were reading a book called "Flowers for Algernon" which was a book about a mentally handicapped man who had a surgery and had his I.Q. double. I had finished it already and trying to stay awake while everyone else read at a turtle's pace was...challenging. Finally, 42 grueling minutes later the final bell rang, and the entire class forced it's way into the narrow hallway which was already teeming with sixth and seventh graders. I waited a few minutes to leave as my bus was one of the last to arrive, chatting with Ryan and Kyle with their plans for the weekend. Ryan was going over Kyle's house for the weekend, and I had a baseball game on Saturday. But for Sunday and Monday I was free. Now the only reason we had a 3 day weekend was because memorial day was Monday, so I had gotten lucky there. Making my way out of the building, I stood in the center of the concrete pathway looking for my bus while the warm May sun shined down on my shoulders. I finally saw it, and walked over saying goodbye to my friends and some other people I knew. Now by no means was I popular, the term well liked would fit better. The cynical side of me saw it as a curse, because whenever I would walk off by myself there was always 2 or 3 followers. But, I guess that meant I wasn't that bad of a person. I plopped into my seat besides Kyle M and Roger. Kyle was fairly good looking, but I didn't think of him like that. He was my friend nothing more or less. Roger on the other hand appealed to a different market, as he was fairly well built with a six pack and he was wicked strong. But, he was my friend, and if I thought about him like "that," I would gag. I smiled hello, made some witty comment, and slipped in my headphones. Scrolling through my songs, I selected one from Alter Bridge's new album and gazed out the window as we pulled away from the school. I must have dozed off, because I woke up to Lynyrd Skynyrd playing a live rendition of Free Bird, and someone shaking my shoulder. I looked up and saw Roger mouth "Your stop is next." I took out the headphones, thanked him, and slid the Ipod into my pocket. I collected my things and when the bus stopped I stood up and slowly climbed down the stairs enjoying the sun on my face. I turned around to my friend Kodiak, who was one grade lower than I and asked if he wanted to go riding later. He declined saying he had go to one of his mother's friends weddings. I told that I'd see him tomorrow and walked to my father's car. Throwing my stuff into the back seat, I climbed into the shotgun and closed the door. "How was your day old man?" "Eh, it was slow, but then again when isn't it." "I'll trade with you anytime." "Yeah, nice try but I went through school now it's your turn to suffer." By the time that conversation was over, we had reached my house, and pulling into the concrete horseshoe driveway I felt happy to be home. Walking inside, I said hello to my two dogs, got my feet stepped on, and put my things down. I told my dad that I was going to catch a few Z's and to wake me up for dinner. He mumbled some form of OK as I headed up the stairs to my room. Walking in I took a second to look around. The walls were a royal blue and the ceiling white. My bed was pushed into a corner with a desk thing at the foot and a cabinet with a TV and an Xbox were to the right of it. Above the cabinet was a series of shelves that held everything from a marble egg, to baseball trophies, to a few die cast State Police cars. I looked over at the far wall and admired the fish that had been mounted on it. It was a 28" 5 lb Brown trout, a personal and family record. Next to it was a window with the shades pulled down, and then came a blue dresser that held most of my clothes. On the other side was another window, and on the wall adjacent was a closet with some more formal clothes hanging inside. We weren't rich, but my parents made sure life was comfortable for my sister (when she was home) and I. My mother had found all sorts of amazing things before she passed, and it would be safe to say that almost everything we had was because of her. I recollected my thoughts, opened the dresser, and grabbed a t-shirt. I walked into the bathroom, relieved my self and then changed clothes. While I changed, I looked at the mirror and was more or less content at what it showed. I was a big kid about 5'9" and I had a decent physique. My stomach was flat, my legs decently toned, and arms decently muscled. I had a mess of dirty blonde hair that hung just past my ears and curled up at the end. I had grey eyes that lightened up to a clear blue around the iris. I had inherited my fathers squarish chin, and thicker eyebrows, but gotten a light dusting of freckles across my nose and the tops of my cheeks from my mom. I brought myself back to reality, threw on the t-shirt, and walked back to my room. Throwing back the sheet I crawled in a lay head down on the pillow. I took a minute to think about the day (especially the good looking parts of it) before I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. ... To Be Continued Let me know what you think!!! :)
