So some of you will read it, some of you wont and that's okay! I hope you enjoy this chapter, to those who read it. You may cry... but it'll be happy tears. So no more ranting lets just do this! Colby's LE – Chapter 10 – Graduation – Good Old Days It was getting to that time of year again. That time where the grads got super busy and so did their parents. Not only were the weeks coming down for final exams but for the overall school year. Colby was extra cautious of where he was entering his final exams at. He had did his very best through the year and had received straight As for the end of the second term. He was graduating for sure. That isn't the only thing that Colby was happy about though. Achieving his final goal was nice, but what came next was icing on the cake. Principle, Mrs. Tremble had called him to her office in the beginning of June. She was smiling when Colby entered, "Hello Mr. Brown, sit down. There is no need to be nervous, you are not in trouble." Colby's visible concern retreated. "Well, if I'm not in trouble what am I here for?" Mrs. Tremble handed Colby a sheet of paper. "You have been selected as the Valedictorian for your graduation." He was speechless. "The sheet I handed you explains that you've been selected and that you will have a speech at your walk up." Colby shook his head. "I am Valedictorian? How did this happen?" "With your grades and the impression you imposed on this school in such a short time you were the best candidate. Now, you can say no to this..." Colby interrupted his principal, "No, I would love to be Valedictorian. Thank you!"He walked out of the office reading the piece of paper. In weeks prior they had to choose 4 more people for speeches. Two students and two adults were selected. The students would do a toast to the teachers and parents at the Grad Banquet. Of the Adults a parent and a teacher would do a toast to the students. The grad class themselves voted in private on who they wanted. It was a vast majority that Mrs. Bells would be the teacher and Colby would toast the parents. So with the Valedictorian speech now in his hands and final exams Colby was busy. He even had to babysit Gage and Nick one night. Gage wanted so badly to do something but when Nick went to bed Colby was busy at work for his first speech. Gage had to go to bed horny, to which he covered before falling asleep. The Banquet would happen on the last day of classes. That day was also a day, no grade 12 had to go to school, Colby did though. The day itself passed by quickly. After school finished Colby ran home and got into the tux his parents had rented for his grad banquet. The entire grad class went to the View Point in town and got their pictures taken. It wasn't to much later that the Banquet started. Colby's entire family were sitting beside Mitch's, just as they wanted. Dinner was served at 6pm and grade 11s were walking around serving drinks. Mindless banter was through out the now decorated gym. Before long it was time for the speeches. Colby was up first. His nerves were running wild. It took him a bit before starting. Once he cleared his throat and shook his body, he was ready, "Sorry, stage fright." He blushed, "Like it was just said, I am the student my grad class chose to represent them to toast our parents. I am aware though that some parents... disagree with my being here. "That doesn't bother me though. All that matters is my friends and my family. But this is not the time or place for that. This is time for me to talk about our parents collectively. "Our parents did a nasty deed, and produced us 17 to 18 years ago. They watched us grow out of diapers, into pullups, underwear and then boxers or girls... well ya. They endured all of our teenage wrath, and toddler questions, and even those dreadful nightmares we had. "That isn't all though, they have endured more than that. The had to endure, at times, all of those of our friends as well. They taught us right from wrong, and even how to treat others. "But that is not what we should be thanking them for tonight. I for one would look at my parents and like to say thank you, for accepting me. For those who don't know, I'm gay. You saw we walk with my boyfriend earlier. Like I said though, it's about our parents. "Right now they sit at those tables with nothing on their minds but us. They are thinking about how proud of us they are. So from our grad class to each and everyone of you, I would like to say, Thank you for accepting 'us' as we are. "Thank you for all those time you got mad at 'us' and grounded us. Some of those were needed. Most of all though, thank you for not giving up on us when you so desperately wanted too. "So I propose a toast to the most important people in our lives! May we ask for money in the near future!" The crowd laughed and toasted to the grads. Colby walked off the stage and back to his seat. He was welcomed with hugs from his family and a kiss from Mitch. The next speech was from the parents to the students. Then students to teachers. Then finally Mrs. Bell's toast to the students. She wasn't alone on the stage though. Gage, who Colby had no idea would be here, had joined her. She smiled, "Gage, my son is here to make sure I mention every grad." The crowd laughed and awed. "Grads, I have taught all of you. You are each your own and I have absolutely nothing written down besides your names. Gage here will say your name, and I will tell you something I will miss about you. Gage, the first name please." Gage smiled and got on his tippy toes to speak into the mic. "Tanyn Almeida." Mrs. Bells kept to her word and mentioned something about everyone. Gage went in alphabetical order but skipped Colby's name. "Mitch Stannus!" Gage shouted. Mrs. Bells shook her head, "You are a proud student and a proud person. You have a kind soul that will break many hearts cause they just can't have yours." Gage said the next name and the next. "Trevor Vines!" "Trevor, only one thing... I HATE YOU!" Was all she said in her best Trevor voice. The entire room roared in laughter. Once she had finished she looked across the room. "Some of you may have noticed a skipped a name. I did so on purpose. "Colby Brown, I would like to say a personal thank you to you. You not only made your mark here but have paved a path for the future of this school and it's standing on sexual preferences. "I have seen this boy just talking to some of the younger kids and when they walk away from each other the kid has a skip in their step. He selflessly aids in problems of others, even when he's busy himself. So from me, and my sons, Colby brown thank you for your service to this community. "Now, Grads you all have a special place in our hearts that only you will fill. I on behalf of the staff of this school would like to wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and cannot wait to see where you go and what you become. Now please join me to toast this amazing class!" Cheers went all around the room. The grads went from the banquet to a wet grad. Drinks were everywhere and most of the kids were drunk to some degree. Then there was Colby, Mitch and Trevor having their own little party at Trevor's. They were just having a good time as friends. Trevor fell asleep early, and in their drunkenness Mitch and Colby decided it was a good idea to have sex in the spare room. The week fallowing would be filled with studying for Colby. He had chosen to take the optional exam for Chem, and Bio. Plus he had his English exam. He was studying like a mad man all week and if he was hanging out with anyone he had sheets of paper for them to ask him random questions. Colby took almost 2 hours on each exam. He wouldn't know what he got until the middle of summer but he had entered each exam that meant he would basically pass them. As long as he didn't bomb the tests. Walk up was the next thing for Colby to stress over. The grads had a mock walk up for practice. It was simple, walk when you got your name called. Walk slowly and pose for a picture. Simple stuff really. The entire class was dreading the multitude of speeches that would happen. Everyone agree that the 'good luck in the future' speeches were long repetitive and boring. Colby's was no exception. Even he admited that it was kinda boring, stating, "Keeping everything real, were board up here, so I'll keep it short." He just mentioned everything his class had accomplished in the 5 years they had been in the school and thanked the teachers and parents yet again. After the ceremony pictures were being taken everywhere. In just a half an hour later city buses were there to bring the grads to their dry grad. Finally Colby was able to be a kid for another night. Lasting just under 12 hours the dry grad was a mess of fun. Everyone either were to happy to dislike one another or they had matured beyond their distastes. Colby was asleep in his bed moments after arriving at home. Colby's Life had become something else it was for what it was just 3 years ago. A shy and cautious boy became an outgoing and proud young man. His high school life may be over but there was a world to see outside his small home town.
