Damien and Alex

Part 3

Luckily for James he was meant to be having us so he didn't have to go
anywhere. Not that he would have been able to, as I still couldn't move he
was under me next to Alex.
Soon enough it was three thirty and James and Alex managed to get me into
the car without any problems. James drove directly behind us all the way
home. When we got there the other three adults were standing outside. James
told them that I had broken down at lunchtime and hadn't done much since.
But as though to contradict him I got feeling back into my body although I
was worn out. "Alex I am going straight to bed when we get inside as I am
worn out. I will be able to walk up but I was wondering if you could lay
there with me at least until I fall asleep?" I asked.

"Do you even have to ask? Of course I will lay with you. I am so glad that
you are coming out of what ever you were in. You had me scared for a while
there. I am glad you are back," Alex replied.

With that we got out of the car and I told the other four, "I am worn out
and have decided to have a nap. Can you send someone to wake me up when
dinner is ready? I haven't eaten since breakfast but am to tired to eat
now."

Mum smiled and nodded. So I walked inside and went up to my room. Alex was
at my heals just in case I went back into the state I had been in all
afternoon. As soon as my head hit the pillow I feel asleep.

ALEX
Damien scared me today going to a state of shock where he couldn't move a
single muscle. I know that James was thinking the same thing as me `poor
guy.' He really has taken this to heart' I am just glad he was there to help
me get Damien home. I was so happy to hear his voice once we got home.

He just said, "Alex I am going straight to bed when we get inside as I am
worn out. I will be able to walk up but I was wondering if you could lay
there with me at least until I fall asleep?"

I answered, "Do you even have to ask? Of course I will lay with you I am so
glad that you are coming out of what ever you were in. You had me scared for
a while there."
"I am glad you are back," he told his parents. "He was going to bed and to
have someone wake him up for dinner."

I walked up to the room with him scared that he would crumble again like he
had already done twice today. I was glad to see him fall asleep as soon as
he laid down.

At the moment James came in and asked, "Is he asleep already?" I nodded and
he continued, "Do you want to come and have a chat about what happened today
with dad and Damien?"

"Yea I think it will help. I was so scared when dad got there but I was even
more scared when Damien crumbled like that. Why do you think he went like
that?" I asked.

James came over and helped me up he lead me to his room and explained, "I
think Damien went like that because he finally realized what could have
happened today. He is scared that he might lose you. I noticed that by the
way he went straight to you to cry. He needs you as much as you need him. I
hope they catch dad before he can inflict any more pain on anyone else. I
want you to look after Damien and let him look after you. Can you do that?"

"Of course I will bro, I love Damien to much to let dad do anything that
could spoil our relationship. I love him too much" I answered.

I then went back into the room with Damien and laid down beside him and I
too fell fast asleep.

"Damien, Alex dinner is ready" I heard someone tell us.

At first all I wanted to do was roll over and cuddle back up with Damien but
then I felt a hand shake me so I said "OK. OK I am awake," I shouted at the
hand I still hadn't opened my eyes.

I felt Damien roll over and whisper "open your mouth and I will give you a
reason to wake up."

I opened my mouth straight away and soon I felt his lips over mine and then
his tongue came out of nowhere and started searching my mouth for the right
spot. When it did, I opened my eyes so fast that I am sure everyone could
hear them.

I saw Damien's hair over them so I started kissing him back then the voice
said, "I know each other's tonsils are nice but it wont fill either stomach.
Now get down stairs before your dinner is cold" I saw mum's body leave the
room once she finished her little speech. Damien hopped off me and pulled me
up. We sat there until we were both awake properly and then headed
downstairs for dinner.

Once we reached the table mum jokingly said "Bout time you two got down
here. We are starving and you two decide to take your time." Well that was
it we all burst out laughing. Just then dad brought out our meal and looked
confused seeing us all laughing.

Once dinner was finished we all headed into the lounge to talk. "Ok Damien.
We want to know what happened to you today?" Mum asked.

"I don't really know. I guess when I came to the realization of what could
have happened today sunk in. It was too much for me to cope with and I lost
it. I was really worried when I heard his voice today. But it didn't sink in
until I saw James sitting in the staff room and I couldn't hold it in I just
lost control. I was glad that Alex was right there otherwise I would have
been on the floor," Damien explained.

"I instinctively went over to him to make sure nothing like what happened
earlier happened again," Alex said.

When he saw me come over he smiled and whispered to me, "Sorry if I scared
you earlier but I wouldn't be able to cope if I ever lost you." Damien said.

"Don't worry hun I feel the same way," I whispered.

The other four just looked at us and smiled knowing that at least we had
each other. For the rest of the evening we all just talked about anything,
including our cars. Then at around eight thirty Damien announced that "I am
tired and I am going to bed."

I just answered for everyone "Ok. You still look tired. I think that I will
join you as well today is enough to wear anyone out." With that we got up
walked out of the room and headed to bed.

Once we got there Damien got undressed and climbed into bed. By the time I
joined him he was already fast asleep.

Just then James came to the door. "Is he already asleep?" he asked.

I nodded half heartedly as all I wanted was to join Damien in the land of
nod. I think James noticed that because he walked out there and then and I
immediately fell asleep.

"Hun? Hun? I need to talk with you" Damien whispered in my ear.

"Ok what's up?" I answered him.

"Well I was wondering how you are feeling about yesterday? I mean I had my
say but you haven't said anything and I am worried about you." Damien
replied.

"I was terrified like you but you scared me more when you lost it. I thought
that I was going to lose you and there was nothing I could do to help you,"
I said as the tears started rolling down my eyes.

Damien pulled me close and held me until I stopped crying then he said, "I
think we need a shower hun. We both look a total mess."

I nodded and then to my surprise he picked me up and carried me into our
bathroom.

I jokingly whispered "Am going to get this treatment every time I cry?"

He just laughed then pulled me close and kissed me. He then placed me onto
the floor and started running the bath. We both climbed in once the steam
started flowing from the shower. We stood there for a little while just
cuddling each other and the started washing ourselves. Once we were finished
washing, Damien pulled me down to the floor of the tub and started cuddling
me. We stayed like that for half an hour at least before we got out. Once I
was dressed Damien walked over with the hairbrush and started doing my hair.
I love the way he does it because he is so gentle. Once he finished mine I
returned the favour doing it as gently as I could to do it the same as he
done it for me. We put on all our jewelry and then looked at the clock and
noticed that it was only six thirty.

We walked down to the kitchen to see that the other four were already up. We
laughed and said, "What are you three competing with us as to who gets up
first now?"

Well that brought out giggles from everyone. "No we heard you two talking
and decided to get up," James answered for everyone.
Just then the bell went on the oven timer and dad raced into the kitchen to
bring out breakfast. I looked at Damien and noticed that he was thinking the
same as me `they want to make sure we are ok' then he whispered in my ear,
"Typical dad. He had to be up to make sure we had a hot breakfast today."

Well with that comment we both burst out laughing. We knew the others were
looking at us but we didn't care. Just then dad brought four enormous plates
of food.

Mum bet everyone to speak saying, "Whom do you think you are feeding? The
entire army?"

Well that brought giggles from everyone. "No I just think that you all need
to have a good breakfast. Especially those two who had cereal yesterday" Dad
replied.

We all ate everything on the plate and noticed that it was time to leave to
school. We walked out to Damien's car and got in.

Just then James came out and asked, "Can I get a lift boys as my car is
playing up?"

"Sure. jump in the back," Damien answered.

DAMIEN
Ok things went crazy for a bit back there but I am fine now. I talked it out
over tea and then this morning got Alex to open up. I am glad he did, as it
isn't a good idea to hold it in. Well it is another school day and yet again
Alex and I are up early. But for a change the rest of the house are up also.
Dad cooked us this enormous breakfast to make for yesterday. It was time to
leave for school by the time everyone had finished.

Just as I was about to drive of James raced out and asked, "Can I get a lift
boys as my car is playing up?"

I answered, "Sure. Jump in the back."

As he did I thought to myself `I bet he is doing to make sure that nothing
happens' and by the look that was on Alex's face he was thinking the same
thing. But neither of us said anything to him about it.

When we arrived at school we noticed that all the year twelve's were
standing there waiting for us. They crowded around the car while we got out
and then keep us in the middle of the group while they walked up into the
school building. I looked at James and Alex and saw that they had realized
that the rest of the year twelve's were protecting us. I smiled and kept
walking with the group. Once we were in the building we all headed into the
common room except for James who said "I will see you two after school."

"Ok James talk to you then" I replied.

Once everyone had seated Jenny announced "we have placed a safety measure
around you two because none of us want to see either of you get hurt."

"Thanks everyone. We really appreciate what you are doing for us," Alex
answered for me.

"Ok. Now that's out of the way how are you today Damien?" she then asked.

"I am fine it was just overwhelming knowing that I could have lost the most
important person to me yesterday. But Alex and I had good conversion at home
with my parents, James and Alex's nana last night so I will be all right" I
told everyone. Just then the bell went and everyone headed off to class.

The rest of the day went calmly with no hick ups. I knew that everyone was
keeping an eye on me making sure I was ok. I smiled thinking `Man I have a
great form. They are all watching out for me after yesterday.'

After school we went to the staff room to meet up with James. While we were
waiting Mrs. P came up to see how I was doing and I told her, "I am fine. I
got it all out of my system last night."

Lucky for me James walked out at that very moment and we were able to get
away without any more questions.

Alex started laughing the moment we got in the car. "What are you laughing
at?" I asked.

"The look on Mrs P's face when you went off at her," Alex said.

Well that was it. That made me start laughing followed closely by James.
Once we were settled down we drove home in silence thinking about what had
happened today.

Mum was standing outside with a grim face when we got home. So before any of
the others had a chance to get out I was parked and by her side. "What's
wrong mum?" I asked as the other two walked up.

"I will tell you once we are inside" she said almost in tears. I looked at
the other two and noticed that they were as confused as me.

Once we were at the table nana walked in but dad was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's dad?" I asked not really wanting to know.

"That's what I wanted to talk to you three about. He was shot today at the
supermarket by Alex and James's dad. He is ok though he will be in hospital
for a while. That's the only thing," she explained.

I stood up and announced, "Everyone into my car now!"

No one waited to hear more. They were in the car faster than I had ever seen
them move. I headed out and noticed the arrangement. Mum, James and nana
were in the back and Alex was in his usual seat, the front passenger seat. I
jumped in started her up and raced to the hospital.

When we got there we were all inside within a couple of seconds I asked the
receptionist "What room is Mr. Alexander in?"

"Room two zero four," she replied and we were off.

At first I stood outside it but then got the courage to move and opened the
door. Dad was lying down but wasn't asleep.

"I thought that you lot would be here about now" he joked.

I raced over and cuddled him until he said "Hay bud do you think I can get
some air?"

"Sorry dad. I am just glad to see you are alright," I answered with tears
streaming down from my eyes.

He pulled me close and whispered, "I will be alright you just take care of
yourself and the rest of our little clan for me."

"Ok dad I will do my best. How long will you have to stay here?" I asked.

"Until the end of the week" he sighed. I hadn't noticed but at the very
moment mum was standing right behind me. She wrapped her arms around dad and
I. We stayed like that for a while and then Alex came over and I wrapped my
arms around him and he did the same to me. James and nana came over and
joined the hug also. In the end dad had to tell us "GET OFF.
I cant breathe."

We all hopped off him and then we all laughed and I said, "His attitude
hasn't changed one bit." Which brought everyone tears, laughing.

Once we got home it felt weird knowing that dad wasn't there with us. Mum
did the one thing that she hadn't done in a long time she dialed up pizza.
She warned us "DON'T tell your father otherwise he will skin me alive. But I
don't feel like cooking so this will do." We all nodded in agreement.

It was the quietest meal that had ever been eaten at that table tonight. I
knew that everyone was thinking about dad and didn't know what to say to
anyone else. After tea everyone went straight to bed. As I walked past mum
and dad's room I heard mum crying so I went in there to comfort her. She
smiled when I put my arms around her. She said as she got up, "Thanks
sweetie I needed that."

"No probs mum. I couldn't leave you crying like that and not help. You know
that. That is one thing I remember you teaching me." I said and then went
into my room to join Alex in bed.

"What took you so long hun?" Alex asked.

"Mum needed to be comforted," I told him. Then I cuddled up to him and let
all my tears just flow. He just held me and let all the ones he had inside
him flow out too.

The next week went by with no dramas. But I was glad when dad got home. It
just hadn't been the same. He has always been the strong link that helped
everyone and while he was gone everyone was a mess.

When James, Alex and I arrived home that night we knew dad was home as the
house seemed happier and the kitchen was full of its usual noise. Then I
heard him telling mum off for buying take away every night that he was in
hospital. We were all stunned, as we had made sure that all the rubbish was
gone and there wasn't any prove yet he knew.

Mum came out laughing saying "He's back!" Well the rest of us broke into
hysterics at that.

Nana came down the stairs and saw us laughing and said, "What are you four
laughing at?"

Then dad came out and answered, "They are laughing at me as I knew that you
lot had been eating take away without even having seen the rubbish."

Well that brought nana into hysterics too. Dad just smiled and went back to
the kitchen.

Once every one was settled at the table while dad was waiting for the meat
to finish I stood up and said, "I have an announcement to make."

Well everyone looked over at me and Alex. He just smiled and said, "Alex and
I have set the date and we are getting married next week. All of year twelve
will be here. Also nana from America is going to be here. I let her know at
school"

"I have one question for you two. Who is going to cater for this?" dad
asked.

But before I had a chance to answer Alex jumped in and said, "Well we need
someone who is up to feeding over a hundred people at such a short notice.
Do you know anyone Damien?"

"No I don't think I do Alex," I laughed at that and so did Alex.

"Ok I was just checking to make sure you two hadn't gotten someone else" dad
jumped in.

"How could we get anyone but you do it dad otherwise you would whine
forever" I replied.

Everyone but dad burst out laughing. "But on a serious note though mum and
dad we were wondering if we could have it here?" I asked.

They both just nodded to settle it as they were both laughing at that stage.
Just then the oven bell went and dad raced out to dish up dinner. Dinner was
light hearted that night, as everyone was still thinking about my
announcement.

As soon as Alex and I had loaded up the dishwasher, I grabbed his arm and
lead him up to our room. "What was that for?" he asked me when we were on
the bed.

"Nothing I just felt like hogging you to myself for a little while," I
answered. But before he had a chance to reply I was already searching for
his tonsils. As soon as my tongue reached his mouth though his was in mine
try to locate my tonsils. I don't know how long we were kissing for but I
know that for some of the time an adult was standing in the doorway watching
us. I stopped kissing Alex to see who it was and noticed in nana Joy from
America.

Well that was it we were both by her side hugging her. "Thanks for the
bracelets nana. We love them and so did all the year twelve's at school," we
both said in chorus.

"That's ok boys. Now can you tell me whom those two new cars belong to? I
would like them to take me for a ride in them," she said.

"They are ours we got them for our birthday. Sure lets go now," we both
announced.

When we got to the cars I asked, "Nana do you want to sit in the front with
the driver or in the back?"

"Well I am guessing that you two usually sit up front so I will sit in the
back," she replied getting into the back seat.

We took Alex's car out first seeing that it was already out. Man nana was
worse than us telling us "Turn up the music boys."

Then she asked a difficult question, "Why don't we wind down the windows
boys?"

"Umm, nana we don't wind them down because Alex's dad is trying to kill us.
he has almost got us twice already. He has already killed Alex's mum and
nearly killed dad so we leave them wound up so that he doesn't know that it
is us in these cars" I explained.

"Oh. Ok I understand boys. I think it is good that you both have each other.
I mean you two have been through everything together. I remember when you
two were little and I wouldn't see one of you without the other. I hear it's
still the same today." she replied. "I understand about wanting to protect
each other. You two both are very lucky to get such great cars"

Once she had been driven around in both cars Alex and I went up to our room
to do our homework. That took us a good couple of hours. We were glad to see
the end of it. There was that much too do. We both sighed when we closed the
last book. At that exact moment dad yelled up the stairs "Dinner's ready
boys."
