This story also contains boy to boy sexual activity and is this is not to your liking read no further. Garrett was watching Jake and Edwin getting on so well together that he felt pangs of jealousy rising within him. All he wanted to do was take Edwin away before he lost him. "Come on Edwin lets go eat." Garrett said grabbing hold of his lovers arm, dragging him away from Jake. Edwin looked at him with a confused look on his face. He yelled goodbye to Jake over his shoulder while on his way to the dining room. Meanwhile the guard with Jake took him off to the inmate's special section of the dining room that is reserved for just them so they don't mix with the others. The guard himself had been looking around nervously all the time the three of them had been talking. What was happening was against the rules and he would have been in trouble if they had been caught. The guard himself allowed it to happen because Garrett and Edwin started the conversation. Once the two boys had gotten their meal, Edwin with a smile on his face said, "I do believe you're jealous of me talking to Jake." Garrett gave himself away by turning a deep red with embarrassment. His feelings being spotted by Edwin who continued to say, "While he's cute he's not my type and anyway I only have one love in my life and he is sitting right next to me." After uttering those words he leant across and kissed his partner fully on the lips which brought forth a cheer from the other boys sitting around them. Davey and Johnny were sitting over on the other side of the dining room and they looked up when they heard the cheer, smiling at the site of the two lovers being bold enough to kiss in public. Johnny whispered, "Do you want some of the same?" Davey nodded yes so Johnny gave him a kiss on the lips also. This started a chain reaction right around the dining room as those with partners followed suit. The two young guys who owned the shelter had just walked in and when they saw what was happening they turned to one another and embraced with a long passionate kiss. This resulted in an uproar in the dining room as all the boys began applauding and cheering at this site. The owner Joey whispered to his partner," I think we'd better quit or else we'll have a full scale orgy on our hands." They laughed as the made their way to a vacant table sitting down to their meal as peace returned to the dining room. Earlier that day Davey had received via Jonathon a message from the high school he attends whenever Jonathon is not teaching or training him. Apparently some of the schools competing in the up coming state championship have queried Davey's eligibility to take part because he does not regularly attend a state high school. The school principal is now asking for Davey to attend high school right up until the day of competition to ensure he is not disqualified. Both Davey and Jonathon were disappointed because this would interfere with his training schedule as well as the excellent teaching Jonathon was giving him which was far better than any public school education. As Jonathon pointed out to his protégé, "Attending these competitions is important so that we can attract the attention of Olympic selectors and also selectors for other national and international competitions." Of course Davey agreed with him as he had now set his goal as representing the United States of America on the world gymnastic stage. Therefore, each school day Davey and Johnny joined the rest of the guys being driven to the high school. One problem was that Davey had always worked out during his lunch break at the hostel. While the school had a gymnasium it was used for so many activities that he couldn't always get in and had to be content with running around the track for an hour. While the rest of the athletic team had begun to accept his sexuality other members of the school had not. He was having to put up with taunts, jibes and rude comments while attending high school. The security that his adopted brother gave him had their work cut out keeping this vulnerable young man safe and away from homophobic bully's. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> After a couple of days off, recovering from the beating they received during the hostage situation at one of the local high schools, Luke and Jason returned to work to a hero's welcome. No sooner had he entered his office he got a call from Chief Falster requesting his presence in his office. The secretary working with the chief this week was his fiancé Pru and she was all smiles as he entered the outer office where she was working. No one else was around so he gave her a quick kiss before she told him to go straight on in because the chief was waiting for him. When he questioned her on what the chief wanted, all he got back was a beguiling smile and a wait and see remark. He knocked and entered as the chief came out from behind his desk to greet Luke and he was invited to sit next to him on the sofa, away from the formality of having a desk between them, "Would you like coffee or soda?" he asked as they settled back. Luke said coffee would be fine and Pru came in to take the order, "How do you like your coffee?" the chief asked then began roaring with laughter. He then explained the reason for his mirth, "If Pru doesn't know how you like your coffee by now she'll never know." All three of them laughed at that remark as Pru headed out to get their drinks. While waiting they made small talk and the chief asked about his health and so on. When Pru returned with the drinks and some home baked chocolate chip cookies which Luke adored, Chief Falster got down to business. "The way you and Jason acted during your hostage situation was wonderful, both of you demonstrated the kind of quick thinking action and bravery I would like all my police officers to show. Because of you two the hostage situation ended far quicker than was expected." Luke humbly thanked him, admitting that they were only doing the job they had been trained for. "I have decided." The chief said, "To use yours and Jason bravery as a public relation exercise to demonstrate to the citizens of El Paso just how dedicated we are to upholding the law no matter what circumstances we are in. To do this I have decided to have a parade and for the both of you to be awarded, the Medal of valor for your acts of bravery." Luke was astounded that this was to happen and tried to talk the chief out of it, pointing out that they were just doing their job. The chief would have none of that and went on to give his assistant police officer the details of the parade which would be held in a couple of days' time and that the Governor would be traveling down from Austin to personally present them with their award. Luke was dumbfounded at what was being planned but could see the ulterior motive for this parade as being a way of convincing the citizens of El Paso that not all police officers are bad. It would also help the recruiting campaign which the chief had recently implemented. The chief then went quiet with a look on his face which said I have more to add but don't know how to bring the subject up. Sensing this Luke asked, "Was there anything else chief?" "Well yes there was but I'm not sure how to put it because it's a sensitive subject." He paused gathering some thoughts together in his mind before continuing, "I've heard on the grapevine that Jason is gay is that correct." "Yes sir, but believe me it in no way interferes with the terrific job he is doing. Jason is a credit to the police force no matter what his sexual preferences are." Luke replied with a hostile tone in his voice and quite prepared to argue the point in favor of his assistant no matter what. Giving a little laugh the chief said, "No need to get on your high horse Luke I have nothing against gays in the police force and I'm sure Jason isn't the only one. What I wanted to mention to you was do you think Jason would be prepared to come out to the other members of the force and the public to show that the EP police department is not biased against anyone regardless of sexual orientation and or religion, color and race?" Luke thought for a few minutes before answering the chief, "I'm not too sure chief, he is very anxious and nervous about being gay but I will approach him on the subject and let you know." On that note the meeting ended and Luke left to go to Jason's office and tell him the news of the award and parade and also broach the subject of his sexuality. On the way out in the chiefs office he asked Pru if she didn't mind just this once if they didn't take lunch together like they normally do, "I have a few things to talk to Jason about and it might be better if I took him to lunch on my own.." Pru said that wouldn't be a problem and after giving her a kiss on the cheek he left to find Jason. As expected Jason was hard at work in his little office preparing the next series of lectures for after the spring break holiday. These would also include hostage situations and on the chiefs instructions would also act as part of his recruiting campaign. While he did wonder what was happening he gladly accepted the invitation to lunch and they walked out of police headquarters heading for a quiet little café just a couple of blocks away. On the way they made small talk with Luke not intending to say too much until they were seated with a meal in front of them. Then and only then did Luke tell him about the parade and the medal for bravery they would be receiving from the governor. Jason could hardly contain himself when he heard the news saying, "My mother will be so thrilled, I hope I will be allowed to take her along?" "Of course you will and your boyfriend, Francis too." Jason's face clouded over as he said, "Don't you think that might be dangerous having Francis there, of course I would love to have him by my side, but if they see him with me it will start talk." "Yes, well that brings me to the other subject the chief as asked me to talk to you about." Once again a fearful look appeared on Jason's face and Luke leant over touching his hand reassuring everything was all right, "As part of the chief's recruiting campaign he has asked me to talk to you about the possibility of you and Francis coming out to the rest of the police force and to the public to demonstrate that the police force accepts any one dedicated to upholding the law no matter what their sexual preferences are." Jason sat there absolutely stunned at what was being asked of him. Finally he spoke, "Of course Luke I will have to talk this over with my boyfriend Francis and because of the area of town that I come from I will have to make sure my mother is happy with this because she could suffer badly at the hands of some of the gangs who control that area of EP." "Of course Jason I understand that. I hope that both your boyfriend and mother understand what a big step this is not only for you but for the police force as well. In the past the policy has been the same as the military, don't ask , don't tell. Now the chief is prepared to bring it right out into the open with you slap bang in the middle. With that in mind I suggest you think very carefully before you give me your answer." They chatted on for a while longer weighing up the pros and cons of coming out before heading back to the police headquarters. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Word finally had come through to Keith Jamieson that Garratt Buchanan can start work as a hospital orderly in the aids ward at Providence Hospital. He will be expected to keep regular hours and when the roster demands it he will also work night shift. The money he earns will go towards his keep at the hostel and he will remain there whenever he is not working. The court also requested that he live on the probationer's floor of the hostel. However, Doctor Keith Jamieson argued successfully that he remain in the general section of the hostel so that he can assist in looking after Aids victim Edwin and that he will be responsible for his conduct and behavior. This was exciting news for Garrett because it meant that he could begin following the career that he wanted, that of nursing. Of course starting out as an orderly meant that he would have to cover all the menial tasks such as cleaning up after some of the more sicker AIDS patients who vomited or messed their beds, but he was used to this from looking after Edwin. Being in the general section of the hostel also meant that he could still share the same room as Edwin who was making steady progress and getting better every day. They made love on a regular basis but very rarely went all the way because of Edwin's delicate health. Garrett away from his mother's perverted sick way of living was a new young man, caring, willing to do anything for anybody. In fact if you were involved in the incident at the high school when he and his gang set upon young Davey you wouldn't believe it was the same guy. He offered to help Sally and Beth with some of the younger boys who were having nightmares. Many a night he and Edwin would have a frightened young guy in bed with them, comforting and soothing them with no thoughts at all of anything sexual going on. That was between him and Edwin alone as their love for each other got stronger and stronger. Keith Jamieson and his partner Doctor Evans vowed to look after Garrett and from now on bring him up properly and to also make sure that his mother never again got her hands on him. Sally and Beth too had settled down after their exchange of vows and were very happy and contented with married life. When Luke called to tell them about the award they were both equally delighted for Jason and him. They also made sure that their son as they both now called him had reserved front row seats for the both of them. They also made a point of telling everyone they came across about the award and how proud of Luke they were. In fact, some of the boys were getting a bit sick and tired of hearing the same story being told over and over again. Sally had approached the Hostel owner regarding the fact that several of the inmates for want of a better term had struck up relationships and were asking if they could move into one room with a larger bed? Sally explained, "These young teenagers as you well know yourself went through hell together and being gay they have entered into relationships with each other. The question do we condone this or say no?" Joey the hostel owner thought about it for some time before giving Sally his answer, "I don't see why not just as long as both parties want this and are not being bullied into a relationship by the other one. My boyfriend and I live together so does Davey and Johnny and then of course there's you and Bethany and lets not forget Garrett and Edwin so I see no reason why not." He continued, "Also this will free up other rooms so that we can admit others into our care. I believe we now have a waiting list is that right?" Sally confirmed that there was about twelve boys waiting to come into the hostel mainly from foster homes through child services, "Ok then we will have to buy some bigger beds for the double rooms and once that is done we can look at admitting more boys. The more we can help begin to lead a normal life the better. One point which has been raised by the high school principle is that he will soon if this trend continues have more gay students than straight. This is a worry, so he suggested that any new kids be sent to another school for which I have no problems with, have you?" Sally agreed that sending some of the boys to another school wouldn't be a problem and the conversation ended there. When Sally told the boys who wanted to share rooms the good news they were delighted. They promised that they wouldn't cause any trouble or problems and if for any reason their relationship looked like it was ending they would talk to her about it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The day of the big police parade was a fine sunny one, not too hot and not too cold. Chief Falster was determined to show the city of El Paso what a fine police force they had, one to be proud of. Crowds of people began to gather early to watch the event. Jason and his partner Francis still hadn't given the go ahead for the chief to declare that one of its finest officers was gay and this was worrying Luke. Personally he wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not, but in fact just about an hour before the ceremony was due to begin Jason approached Luke telling him that he would come out during the ceremony. Luke quickly passed on the news to the chief who was delighted. The Governor was flying in for the event. After presenting the medals he would be flying straight out because one of his sons was a singer and was starting his first big tour during the spring break and he didn't want to miss it. The police band and a couple of high school bands would take part in the parade and most of the downtown area of El Paso was closed to traffic. The award ceremony would take place in a small park in the middle of the city. Every branch of the police force was on display as they marched towards the park including the K9 dog squad and so on. Other local law enforcement agencies were also taking part including state troopers and the FBI. The SWAT team and other sections also marched. The whole event was being televised live on local TV. Once they reached the park Chief Falster made a welcoming speech assuring the public that from now on the EP police force would be better, stronger than it ever had been. He also hinted at what a great career path it would be for the young men of the city. His goal he said was to recruit one hundred new officers into the academy during the next month. He then introduced the mayor who gave a bullshit speech on how the city council supported the police chief and the force in general one hundred percent. He then introduced the governor who made a similar speech before one of the media liaison officers came to the microphone to read the citation for bravery that Luke and Jason were to receive. "These two fine officers under threat of death helped to bring to a close a hostage situation in a speedy and safe manner. Although they received injuries during the situation, this didn't stop them from doing their duty. Governor, the citizens of El Paso, its police force and the city council invite you to award these two officers Assistant chief of police Luke Hughes and rookie police officer Jason Sellars the medal of Valor for bravery." Luke and Jason looking very smart in their dress uniforms marched up to face the Governor and he placed the medals onto their dress jackets before shaking their hands and congratulated them both. Taking one step back and then saluting both of them returned to their position on the dais. Being aware of the next part of the ceremony which was coming up, Jason began to shake like a leaf. Scanning the crowd for a glimpse of his boyfriend because he knew the next thing he had to do was to come out to his fellow officers, the public assembled in the park and to those watching on television. The chief came up to the microphone again thanking the governor for attending this important event and supporting his recruiting drive. He already had spoken to the head of the state of Texas regarding the announcement about gays or any minority being welcome in the police force. The Governor had without even thinking about it commended the chief for this bold step saying, "As you are aware one of my sons is gay and I am very proud of him and what he is achieving." The chief invited the Governor to speak again. Coming up to the microphone he spoke these words, "Chief Falster once again I thank you for inviting me to be a part of this great event and it was a privilege and honor to present the medal of Valor to these two fine officers. Now you have invited me to address the people of this fine city as part of your recruitment campaign. I commend the young men of El Paso to look at making themselves a career in the police force and no matter what your race, creed, color or sexual orientation you will be treated as an equal. This is a point which your chief of police is adamant about and will make sure it happens. To prove his point I would like to ask one of the guys I had the privilege of giving a medal to earlier to come forward and stand at my side." Nervously Jason moved to stand with the Governor as he continued his speech, "I think you are all aware that I have a gay son and I am very proud of him and of what he has achieved. This brave young man standing next me is also gay, he is a policeman and a brave one to boot. When he first joined the force he kept his sexuality secret afraid of the consequences. Now that we all know he is gay will it make any difference? Chief Falster assures me it will not and he also told me if any one on his police force gives any gay fellow officer a hard time by bullying or making inappropriate remarks then he will be instantly dismissed. I am sure that Jason here is not the only homosexual in the police force here in El Paso. If you are and have been afraid to come out, you can without any threat of dismissal. Now not everyone will agree with Chief Falster decision but I personally think it is a good one, no scrub that, it is a great one. In closing I wish young Jason all the best in the force, he has already made his presence known by his bravery and dedication. God bless you all, God bless America and the State of Texas." After those words the Governor embraced Jason shook hands with all those on the podium before leaving. Chief Falster was over the moon at the way the whole event had gone and made a point of also embracing Jason as the party disbanded. Once everything was over, Luke, Pru, Jason and Francis along with their parents retired to a local restaurant for a big family dinner. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A couple of days later the first of Davey's Karate students that were working for their black belt and beyond process (so that they could become instructors at Davey's Karate school) assembled in front of the American Karate Grand Master, Fung Ho. To qualify they had to be tested by someone outside the academy and Davey was honored that the Grand Master himself had come to test them. It was with reverence and awe that Davey greeted Fung Ho who was old and bent down but still very wiry and alert. While he didn't know his age it was rumored that he was well into his nineties. Davey bowed three times in front of him before extending his hand to shake the hand of this great man. They chatted for a while before the testing began. When the dozen or more candidates had gone through the process required for them to qualify, the Grand Master congratulated all of them for passing and presented them with their black belts. Before he left Fung Ho spoke to Davey, "What you are creating here is a wonderful gathering of people of all ages and creeds, bringing them together in peace and harmony. For one so young to have achieved this is a great honor. I am privileged to have met you Davey and wish you well. I firmly believe that you will go to the Olympic Games and fulfill your dreams." With that he embraced Davey, who in turn bowed three times to the grand master who then did something never done before in Karate. He bowed three times to the young master standing before him, recognizing him as an equal. Tears began to roll down Davey's cheeks as he realized the great honor which had just been given him. Others assembled in the room also realized that what had just taken place was an historical event in the annals of Karate. Johnny was the first to embrace and kiss his partner, proud to have him as a boyfriend. To be continued, Writers corner:- Another chapter full of events and I'm sorry but if you were looking for sex you will be disappointed. This doesn't mean that there wasn't any it just wasn't to the forefront in this chapter. The big occasion of course was the parade and the presentation of medals of valor to Luke and Jason, plus the Governor inviting Jason to come out. I'm not sure if this was a wise move or not. I can see trouble ahead for Jason as some of the bigots and homophobes in the force give him a hard time. Davey himself is riding high right now and heading for great things ahead let's hope he as a smooth ride to the Olympics, but you know me that is not going to happen LOL. This was for a change a happy chapter and I hope you will let me know what you thought of it. Hugs Trevor Supertec699@hotmail.com Editors Corner. Hey guys, I agree with Trevor it was nice to have a totally happy chapter for a change. However, I am very worried about Jason's mom. I understand why the chief wanted to use him to be able to attract the best of candidates (not just straight ones). I am sure there is a lot more to follow on this part of the story line. Remember, Trevor does not share with me any of his plots or story lines. The first time I see it is when he sends me the draft to edit. So I know as little as you guys. I was happy to see Luke and Jason receive their awards for Valor. Most certainly deserved. I am also glad that Garrett is going to be able to work on his dream of becoming a nurse. I personally believe he will be one heck of a nurse. I also pray that Edwin's health continues to improve and that Garrett's mom continues to stay out of the picture. So until next time have an awesome day. Remember to let Trevor know your thoughts about this great story. Richie
