Writers note: Apologies for the delay in getting this chapter out but several days in hospital and a long recovery process kept me from writing. Even now I am unable to write for long periods so the delay in posting my chapters will be longer. Both of them slept until they arrived in Denver where they had to change planes. With only forty five minutes to spare they had to rush from one side of the airport to the other and it wasn't until they arrived in the departure lounge that all hell broke loose. Just as they approached the gate a woman jumped up brandishing a pair of scissors yelling, "LOOK OUT, THE DEVIL IS AMONG US, SAVE YOURSELVES WHILE I RID US OF THIS SINFUL MAN WORSHIPPER." She caught everyone including security by surprise as she lunged towards Davey, her scissors held up high in her right hand. She plunged them down towards him just as Johnny stepped in the way with his arms raised up high... As the woman plunged down with the scissors Johnny blocked her with his arm. Feeling a sharp pain before with his free hand he grabbed her throwing her over his shoulder while still hanging onto her arm. Suddenly there was an almighty crack, so loud that several people around them thought it was gunfire and fell to the ground. The woman gave out an almighty scream just before she hit the floor and then she passed out. Lying on her back it was obvious that her arm was broken just below the elbow and the bone was sticking out at an odd angle. Security began running from all directions including their own security who had stopped to use the rest room. They only had one guy because the night before his partner had gone to a sushi bar and ate something that didn't agree with him, therefore he was too sick to travel today. Airport security surrounded the two boys who were instantly recognized and it was then that Johnny felt something warm running down his arm. He looked and noticed blood dripping onto the airport floor. Two medics came running up. While one checked out the woman on the floor who was just now beginning to come around and screaming with pain. Taking Johnny's shirt off the medic checked out the wound. It was only a flesh one, the scissors only just grazing his arm. He cleaned and bandaged the cut telling Johnny to have it checked out when he got home, just to make sure no infection set in. Meanwhile the woman was strapped onto a gurney and headed off to a hospital with two police officers traveling with her. Later investigation showed that she belonged to a radical Baptist church totally opposed to homosexuals and everything they stood for. Davey and Johnny were ushered into a private lounge to wait for the next flight because they had missed the one they should have been on. Several tourists with cameras had recorded the whole thing which was all over in a matter of seconds and these pictures were already being displayed on just about every news channel. Within minutes Davey's brother was on the phone asking what happened and where was his security. When he heard what had happened he was livid telling his younger brother that heads would roll. Normally mild tempered Davey had never heard him sounding so angry. A senior federal police officer took both boys statement and commended Johnny on his quick reaction, "I knew getting my black belt in karate at Davey's school would come in handy one day." Johnny said with a grin. The two boys all this time hadn't been alone or able to talk so it was with some relief that eventually when all the statements had been taken they were left alone. Davey put his arm around his lover careful not to hurt the wounded arm. Not caring if the cameras were rolling or not he kissed Johnny whispering, "Thank you, you saved my life." Johnny actually blushed as he shrugged his shoulders saying, "Let's face it, we have to watch out for each other and that's all I did." They sat together arm in arm until it was time for them to be escorted to their flight. All the way back to El Paso they sat close to each other, their fingers entwined, not saying very much just thanking their lucky stars they were alive. When they landed at El Paso airport it was circus time again with the media out in force along with hundreds of well-wishers. Davey's brother thought it might be best if they held a press conference at the airport and then hopefully they would leave them alone to continue their final training. Once they were settled it was made clear that Davey would make a statement and then answer just a few questions. Holding onto Johnny's hand Davey began, "Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and thank you for showing concern over our safety. Earlier in Denver while we were making the connecting flight to come here to El Paso a woman attacked us intending to stab me with a pair of scissors. May I say before I go any further that I feel sorry for this lady because her beliefs have warped her mind and that her understanding of Johnny's and my relationship is misguided. I repeat yet again that God created us to like our fellow man and there is nothing we can do about that. My partner and lover Johnny Walker Jr intercepted the weapon and suffered a minor cut to his arm. His training in Karate and the fact that he is a black belt helped him to overcome this poor lady. Sadly she suffered a broken arm as a result of this and our thoughts and prayers go out to her as she is being treated in Denver. As I just said we owe this lady no malice but pity her because of what she wrongly believes in. Neither Johnny or myself suffered unduly during this attack. With the Olympics only weeks away please know that we would like to be left alone so we can continue with our final preparation. Finally I would like to publicly thank my lover Johnny for saving my life because this lady took me by surprise, catching me off guard. Thank you Johnny I love you dearly and will always do so. Oh and I almost forgot a lot of accusations as regards our lack of security at Denver. Well a string of circumstances left our security with their pants down so to speak and I don't hold any grudges at all for what happened. Thank you ladies and gentlemen of the press for your attendance and patience while I rambled on. Now I don't really have time for any questions and I think I covered everything you want to know. We are already behind with our training schedule today so we will leave it at that." He turned to exit the building surrounded by security and was most surprised when the media began applauding him. Turning back he waved acknowledging their applause. Johnny whispered to him, "I think you impressed them Davey." Nodding he agreed as they left the airport for the hostel. When they arrived at their destination about three to four hundred well-wishers were behind police barriers and they too began applauding and cheering. As they went through the front door all of the staff and boys staying there kept the applause and cheers going. Jonathon came rushing up to give them both a hug followed by members of their family. Both mothers were crying because they really thought they were going to lose their sons and it took a lot of hugging to calm them down. Both of them began to feel hunger pains realizing that they had nothing to eat since breakfast so they decided to have an early dinner. It was already close to dinner time anyway so the dining room was opened early and several of the boys joined them. Sally had been standing back while everyone else was greeting them and now she came and sat down next to Davey putting an arm around him, "Davey I wish all this drama in your life would go away. You've suffered enough in the short years you've been on this earth and I don't want you to come to any more harm. Promise me once the Olympics is over you and Johnny will take a long holiday away from all of this and just relax, concentrating on being young teenagers." Smiling at her before giving her a kiss on the cheek, "We promise Sally to do whatever you say once all this is over." Johnny nodding in agreement left his chair to go around to Sally to give her a hug and kiss as well. Because they had a meal training was out of the question for a few hours. So Jonathon suggested that they all have an early night and get back into the training schedule early the next day. Davey and Johnny both agreed that it was a wonderful idea as they said goodnight to everyone before heading to their room. They'd just got through the door when the phone rang for Johnny. It was Davey's brother telling him that the company lawyers had just been told that the lady who attacked them was suing him for breaking her arm. He told Johnny not to worry that the legal team would handle everything and she didn't have a leg to stand on anyway. Alone in their room they fell into each other's arms with both of them agreeing that they can't take much more of this hatred and jealousy which was surrounding them, "Even with all my karate training and meditation I am being sorely tempted Johnny." Kissing his lover Johnny agreed that they would have to be strong to get over all this but they will do it, "Now let me take you to bed so that you can do whatever you want to my body." Johnny added. Davey picked his partner up carrying him to the bed, undressing him and then doing exactly what Johnny hoped he would do. Mind you no matter how long into the night their lovemaking went they still had to be up and on the high school running track before daylight. This time the security was incredible where no one was allowed within a hundred yards of the track and certainly no unauthorized persons were allowed into the high school. Even the poor Janitor who left his ID at home had to go back and get it before he was allowed into work. Once they had done their run it was back to the hostel for breakfast and the nurse checked Johnny's stab wound finding that it was mending quickly. After breakfast Jonathon took them into his office and began to fine tune some of the movements he wanted Davey to do. Nothing drastic was changed but a couple of things to make it look more artistic and to flow better. He also went over the routine for the pommel horse which was Davey's weakest exercise. They had been concentrating on that more over the past couple months to try and improve his scores. Once they had discussed all that needed to be discussed they went into the gymnasium and Davey went through all his routines from start to finish. Jonathon then gave him a short break before making him do them all over again. Then it was time for lunch and as they headed for the dining room they noticed it was pouring rain so it looked like their evening run would be cancelled. Both boys rested for an hour after lunch. Lying on their bed just talking in general and taking things easy. Both of them must have fallen asleep because the next thing they knew Jonathan was knocking on the door telling them that they should have been doing some weight training thirty minutes ago. Groaning inwardly both boys struggled to get up but knew that for Davey to do well at the Olympic Games they had to keep up the training. After training it still pouring rain so the evening run was out which meant they could have dinner with the rest of the guys instead if it being kept warm for them and having it later. Several of the guys were getting excited because they were joining Davey and Johnny's families for the trip to Spain. They had just finished eating when Davey's brother arrived to inform them that next week the city just before they head off to their training camp in Spain wants to have a big sendoff function at the high school. Both boys groaned inwardly because they had enough of all this kind of stuff, but Davey said they would be there. At police headquarters arrangements were well in hand for others to take over the positions of those going to the Olympics. Although he wanted to travel along with the chief and Luke the other assistant to the chief Paul agreed that he would stay behind and assume the position of Chief of Police. Luke had already prepared his second in command to take over and all that was left was for them to pack their bags. The ceremony that the city put on for Davey, Johnny and Jonathon to send them on their way to the Olympic Games in Madrid Spain was similar to the one when he came back for Moscow. There were bands playing, choirs singing and a surprise guest appearance from Josh Lopez who of course when not touring attended their high school. Finally after all the speeches Davey was invited to make a speech. As he approached the microphone the crowd began making a noise and he felt someone standing behind him. He turned and there was his Karate mentor, the man he looked up to who had taught him how to meditate and the head of the Karate Movement in America, Kung Fo. Tears came into Davey's eyes as he embraced the old man who had made a big effort to be there. He was now well into his nineties and almost bent over with his long goatee beard almost touching the ground. Holding onto the old man Davey went back to the microphone having problems holding back his emotions as he introduced Kung Fo to the crowd, explaining how much he owed this man for the success he was having. In broken English Kung Fo spoke wishing Davey and Johnny well on their journey to Spain before managing to get out the words that he was very proud of him, "You make old man very happy." While the crowd was roaring its approval the pair of them with Johnny helping by getting on the side of the old man, they left the stage. They all went back to the hostel for dinner and Kung Fo was the guest of honor, sitting next to Davey but hardly eating anything. He then introduced the boys to his son who joined them at the table. Kung Fo explained that his son looked after him whenever he traveled these days. It was then Davey got an even bigger surprise when he leant that his guests were staying overnight in the hostel. Sally and Bethany fussed over him making sure that he had a comfortable room and everything he and his son wanted. With no training that evening Davey and Johnny were able to chat with their guests until the old man began to get weary and they retired for the night. In their own room Davey confided that having Kung Fo come all the way from Miami to see him made him even more determined than ever to do well in the forthcoming competition. The next morning the boys went for their usual run before breakfast then meeting with their guests in the dining room for breakfast. Finally it was time for them to say goodbye but not before Davey went through some of his routines that he was going to do at the Olympics. The old man was very impressed and when it was time to go everyone had tears in their eyes. Just as he was getting into the car the old man pressed something into Davey's hand. He looked down and saw that it was an ancient Chinese Talisman which is reported to bring you good luck. He later discovered that this one was over a thousand years old and had been passed down through the family all those years. It was now with Davey to bring him luck and happiness throughout the rest of his life. Feeling very humbled Davey said his goodbyes and thank you's as the car taking his personal hero and mentor left for the airport. Sadly the day before the games began Kung Fo died in his sleep but the news was kept from Davey until after the Olympics. While there was some uncertainty regarding his age his son said later that records showed he was one hundred and seven years old when he died. Jonathon began to ease off the training a bit saying he didn't want Davey to be past his peak too soon. Then the day they had to leave for their training camp in Spain came upon them, catching them by surprise. Dressed in their dress uniforms the three of them were taken to the airport amid big security for the flight first to Dallas and then New York were they would meet up with the four hundred or so other athletes and officials. The whole family was at the airport to see them off, along with a barrage of local media and hundreds of well-wishers. The trip to Dallas was uneventful with all three of them grabbing the opportunity for some sleep. They had been sent a schedule of events before they left for Spain and the next couple of days were going to be hectic to say the least. The big surprise came at Dallas airport when they had about ninety minutes before their New York flight. Firstly they met up with the other athletes from Texas and were shown into a private reception room. The biggest surprise for Davey and Johnny was when the governor came walking in followed by his chief of staff who is Davey's Grandfather now by his adoption and the Governor's press secretary who is Johnny's father. Wheelchair bound because of a wound he got while serving overseas in the army Johnny senior was almost knocked over as Johnny rushed towards him, "Dad, I didn't expect to see you here today, what a big surprise." "Well I couldn't let my son and his boyfriend leave without my saying goodbye, I don't see enough of you as it is." He said gruffly trying to hide the tears that were forming. They hugged each other for ages until Davey came over and wanted a hug as well. The Governor made a farewell and good luck speech on behalf of all Texans before joining the rest of his staff with Davey and Johnny. All too soon the flight was called and they were escorted down to the aircraft after a final goodbye with tears flowing down Johnny's face as he stood waving back at his father until the very last minute. Little did he know he would be seeing his father and the Governor again in two weeks' time. First class on the aircraft had been specially extended to include every team member. As soon as they had taken off and reached their altitude height and speed, lunch was served. Separating them from the rest of the passengers was a wall of security making sure they weren't disturbed. When they landed in New York a fleet of coaches was waiting to take them and the others arriving from all over the country to their hotel. The whole organization was the same as when they went to Moscow except on a much bigger scale. Once they were assigned to their rooms Davey, Johnny and Jonathon headed towards the elevators when they heard a voice calling out, "wait for me." It was their fellow athlete from Moscow Brent Underwood. They all embraced before stepping into the elevator. It turned out that Brent had been given the same room as Jonathon which was next to the guy's room. Once they had found their rooms they discovered that their luggage had already been deposited. All four then went into Davey and Johnny's room to catch up on what had been happening, "Of course, I know what you guys have been up to, everyone in America who watches the TV news or reads a newspaper knows what's been going on with you two." Brent said with a laugh. They sat there like old friends discussing the upcoming competition and when Davey went through the new routines Jonathon has devised for him he said, "Holy cow, if you can pull that off no one and I mean one will be able to come near you. No wonder you had to keep it secret away from prying eyes. This will change international gymnastics forever if you can do it and I'm sure you can." Davey of course made sure that he wouldn't tell anyone else not even the American officials just in case there was a leak. They chatted away for the rest of the time they had until it was time to shower and get changed for the big dinner which was taking place downstairs in the grand ballroom. The two boys showered together and found they had time for a little bit of foreplay which finished up being a little bit more than that and then they had to rush to get ready before Jonathon and Brent knocked on the door. Traveling down in the elevator they met several other members of the team and chatted in general about what was coming up in the next few weeks. Security downstairs was so strict that they had their credentials checked three times before they finally got to their table. Sitting down together they then noticed that they were only one table away from the top table which put them in the higher echelon. Neither Davey or Johnny thought that was fair because further back down the room was athletes in track, field and swimming with several medals already hanging back at home, "Those guys should be up here in the spotlight not me after all I'm just a rookie." Davey said. "Yes, but you're the current face of the Olympics and they need you in the spotlight to keep the money rolling in." Grudgingly Davey had to agree with what Brent said. The dinner dragged on and then came the speeches. Not many, first came the head of the Olympic committee who welcomed them all and wished them luck followed by his assistant who explained several things which were going to happen over the next few days. One important fact was that from now on they would be responsible for their own baggage even to the point of putting it onto and off the aircraft. This wasn't to do away with porters or extra staff but to make sure there was no tampering with their bags. The final speaker was the one the guys recently heard in Washington, Dr Peter Johnson. He gave a very emotional and inspirational talk and by the time he had finished they were all yelling that they wanted Gold, Gold, Gold. He made them feel as if they were all going to win. Everyone at their table remarked what a great motivator he was. By now most of the athletes were ready for bed and as soon as everything was over the room emptied very quickly with just a few officials remaining behind chatting. They were told to wear their casual walking outfit for traveling tomorrow. They had been told that a call had been set for six am in the morning with breakfast at seven and departure to the airport by eight. Both Davey and Johnny were exhausted and after a quick kiss and cuddle fell asleep almost right away. All too soon Davey was awaken by the shrill sound of the telephone telling them it was six and while he had to shake Johnny a couple of times they were quickly out of bed showered dressed bags repacked and heading downstairs for breakfast. Over breakfast they chatted in general with those around them, all feeling just a little bit excited at what lay ahead or them. Then it was time to pick up their bags which they had to take into the dining room with them and then head out to the coaches which were drawn up and waiting. There was a touching moment when all the hotel staff that could be spared, along with various managers assembled out front waving flags as the buses moved away. A massive banner had been strung overnight over the hotel entrance wishing all the athletes well and good luck. The same greeted them at the airport where instead of being taken to the normal departure terminal they were driven into a massive aircraft hangar. A stage was assembled at one end and the United States Marine band was playing as they got down from the busses. Moving down towards the stage Davey and Johnny spotted several famous people hanging around. Once everyone was out of the busses they were welcomed and then the national anthem was sung by a famous singer who Davey and Johnny knew but couldn't recall the name. George W Bush the President of the United States then made a speech saying more or less the same sort of thing the speakers had said the night before. In fact the speeches were the same as they got before going to Moscow except this time there were a lot more athletes covering many sports from track and field to weight lifting. The baseball team was going to Madrid closer to their date, preferring to train here in the US. Wagons of food were driven in and consumed at a great rate before they walked just outside the hangar to board their plane for Madrid. They had to take their bags to the loading ramp and wait until the baggage handler had placed it in the hold before being allowed to board. Once on board the boys were shown to their seats at the front of the plane. Once everyone was on board the flight safety procedures were carried out before they began taxiing onto the runway. Before they knew it they were in the air bound for Madrid. The flight was direct and a long one but several movies were available on screens in front of them and a headset was given to each passenger. This was something fairly new but the airline sponsoring the flight had gone all out to make sure it was fitted with all the latest technology. Several well-known athletes and swimmers came up to shake Davey's hand and wish him luck before they all settled down to watch a movie. The only interruption was when meals or drinks were served. Davey and Johnny were soon asleep and as darkness fell so did most of the other passengers. The flight itself took about eight hours so several times the guys got up and walked around the cabin to keep the circulation going. It was early morning and still dark when they touched down at Madrid international airport but by the time they had collected their baggage, gone through customs and immigration the dawn sky was beginning to lighten. Leaving the terminal the first thing everyone noticed was the humidity and heat before they boarded a fleet of coaches. The gymnastic team all boarded the same coaches because they were going to be training just over the border in Portugal for the next ten days before moving back to Madrid. The reason for this was the team still wanted to keep their training secret and away from prying eyes. The trip added another two hours to their journey and by the time they arrived jet lag had set in. Breakfast was waiting for them and Jonathon told them that only light training was going to happen today. He sent the boys on a run around the athletic field where they were staying which was a college and the boys and girls were staying in the college dormitories. They were assigned two to a room and while the rooms were small they were adequate for the team's needs. Davey and Johnny soon settled in laughing at the two small single beds, one on each wall with no room for them to be pushed together, "It's going to be a tight squeeze two of us in one tiny bed but we'll manage and I reckon it will be very cozy." Davey agreed with him before giving him a long passionate kiss. Just as they were getting excited and settling in for a love making session the public address system which they noticed for the first time crackled into life requesting everyone to be in the dining room in fifteen minutes for a general briefing. Quickly the boys adjusted their clothing before going in search of the dining room. The coaching director went over what was going to happen over the next fourteen days, ten of which would be spent here in Portugal before heading back to Madrid. Several things were discussed and training schedules posted before he raised a very touchy subject, "Many of our male gymnasts have been asking about the new routines Davey has been working on and could they see what they might expect." He paused gathering his thoughts, "I have decided and have gained permission from Davey's personal coach Jonathon Mars for Davey to demonstrate some of his new moves to you especially those on the rings and the bars. Therefore after supper tonight strictly on a need to know basis some of you will be allowed to watch Davey train and go through some of the new movements which I am eager to see any way. There are some ground rules which must be followed. Only those competing with Davey will be allowed into the gymnasium, and all cell phones cameras and recording devices will be left outside the room and I'm sorry but you will be subject to a body search as well. As you are aware there have been many attempts to discover what the routines are by other competing nations and we must make sure that we follow these security measures to their fullest." There was a lot of murmuring and unhappy conversation after this announcement but it was a happy Brent Underwood who came over to join the pair, "At last I'm going to see what you've worked out and I for one can hardly wait. I know I don't have a hope in hell chance of a gold medal with you taking part but I would like to see what I'm up against." He said with a laugh. They all sat at their tables and supper was served except for Davey and Johnny who would eat later. Davey wasn't completely happy with the arrangements. The head coach approached him explaining that by showing some of his new moves and routines it would boost the morale of the rest of the team. Davey could see where he was coming from and decided to go ahead and do his warm ups. It took quite a while for the dozen or so guys to be searched and all their recording devices left outside the room which had thick curtains on the windows. Once everyone was in the door was locked. The coach went over the rules regarding this demonstration making sure everyone understood that it was in the interest of the team and their country that nothing was leaked regarding Davey's performance. Jonathon then explained several things about Davey's routines which because they were so radical brought some gasps of disbelief from his fellow team mates. Finally Davey went into his rings display after being hoisted up by Johnny. The others couldn't believe what they were seeing as Davey manipulated his body into positions they never thought possible. After making a perfect landing onto the mat there was a stunned silence until everyone began cheering and applauding their hero. Several came up to shake his hand and the previous Olympic bronze medal winner who was the countries previous best said, "If that doesn't score perfect tens then something's wrong with the system. There is no one else in the world that can beat that." After a break Davey then showed what he could do on the parallel bars and again the new movements astounded everybody. Included in the congratulations was Jonathon who invented most of these moves which everyone agreed would change the world of gymnastics for ever. To be continued ... Writer's corner. For some reason this chapter took longer for me to write than normal maybe because it didn't have enough excitement in it. Anyway let's take a look at what happened. Firstly Johnny's karate training at Dallas airport stood him in good stead preventing serious injury to him or Davey. The fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself to save his lover is worthy of mention and shows just how deep the love for each they have. Will the lady whose arms he broke sue him? More than likely but we'll have to wait and see. Both of them are getting sick and tired of all the events and functions they have to attend. They would much rather concentrate on training and loving each other. It was an emotional experience for Davey when Kung Fo his mentor and spiritual guide flew all the way from Miami to wish Davey luck and I wonder what Davey's reaction will be when after the Olympics he is told of the old guys death. Kung Fo was his motivation he was the one Davey thought about when he went into his meditation mode before competing. While they didn't see each other personally all that often I'm sure they met together on another spiritual plane. Finally against his better judgment Davey demonstrated to his fellow team mates what he would be doing in competition, and the reaction was as to be expected, amazement. Anyway please let me know what you think of this chapter I always look forward to your comments and emails. If I missed anything then I'm sure Richie will pick up on it. Hugs Trevor Supertev699@hotmail.com Editor's corner and supper was served except for Davey and Johnny who would eat lampeting nations and we must make sure Well I disagree with Trevor. This chapter started off with lots of excitement. With that crazy religious nut trying to kill Davey and then Johnny stepping in and getting stabbed himself. I think that got everyone going. Now I was glad that the Governor and Johnny's dad showed up to wish them well. It will be really nice to see them at the games. I am sure that will put Davey and Johnny on cloud 9. I like that Davey and Johnny are always striving to be treated like everyone else. They do not want anything special and I think the other athletes all can sense that. This will help with the bonding of these athletes. I am not sure I would have shown Davey's routines to anyone. You still never know who might be bought or blackmailed to give away the secret moves. Will be interesting to see if that does happen and how it would play out. Well for now have a great day and do NOT forget to let Trevor know your likes and dislikes of this story. I for one love it.
