No calls, no parents, nothing but us. No sex. Not yet. Every time it would get too quiet, Eric would just happen to pop in and after I started throwing stuff at him, he sent Kya in. She was better, giving us winks and thumbs up. Davis just chuckled as she left the room. I, however, was terrified. I was graduating tonight, but it just seemed like nothing compared to everything else. We started making out again, but were interrupted by his phone. He parted from my lips long enough to look at the phone and sigh, slamming it back down. "Parents again?" I asked. "They're paging me now. After all the texts, calls, and voicemails..." he sighed," Everything's fine." "No, it's not. You need to go and make up with them." I said quickly. "Not sure I wanna hear what they have to say." Davis said. "You scared?" I asked, amazed. I had never seen him scared or...anything close to that. "Weren't you?" he asked, "I'm out to a nation." "I know." I said, "And yeah, I was." "And I made a decision. I'm not going to All-Star this year." Davis said, "I'm staying with you." "No." I said quickly, "Basketball's your thing and you get scholarships and stuff from this. And you love it." "I love you." Davis said, "Besides, I already have a four year scholarship." I kissed him, "Sweetie, you're going. And I'll be right there, only not until a month or so, cause school doesn't end for at least a few weeks." "Are you serious? I thought you'd be happy to spend time with me." Davis said, looking confused. "I would, but not when you'd be missing something important to you." I said, "How many times do I have to say it." "Does this mean you're expelling me from Eden, Adam?" Davis asked, sitting up. "You should go home and check it out, Steve." I smirked. "Right." Davis said, standing, "How about we meet later, unless I get lynched." "We're not that far into Texas. Besides, I'll be here, not matter what." I kissed him quickly, "Besides, you're an only child. They only have you." "Thanks...I think." Davis smiled, leaving. - - - - - - - - - - Kendall and Ballard made their way to Christina's house. They were surprised when they reached out and opened the door, which was supposed to be locked. They had come because of the obvious turn in Christina's whole personality. She had always been defensive and sort bitchy, now she was a total mess. The biggest train-wreck. As they made their way around the trashed room, they spotted Christina lying on the floor. They hurried to her, trying to pick her up as fast as they could. She was out cold, still breathing, but only just. "Chris, wake up!" Kendall shouted, "Get her some water or something!" Ballard ran to the bathroom and got all the water he could and ran back to Christina, throwing the water in her face. Christina sputtered and opened her eyes slightly. "What in the hell is going on?" Christina asked, looking around, " What're you doing here?!" "What are you doing?" Ballard asked. "Where's your brother?" Kendall asked. "Out." Christina said, standing, "What's going on?" "You remember what you told me?" Kendall asked, "About Julie." "You didn't." Christina shrieked, " Do you know what a secret is?!" "I won't tell." Ballard said. "Fuck you." Christina spat. Ballard raised an eyebrow, "Did, no more please." he said sarcastically. "Guys." Kendall said, "We need to...to tell the story." "What? No." Christina said, pacing, " Hell no! Then, then everybody'll know." "Exactly. People need to know." Kendall said. "I can't tell everyone." Christina shouted. "Then tell...tell...umm, tell Julie's friends." Ballard suggested, "Her inner circle." "That's worse." Christina said, slouching into her bed and throwing the covers over her head. "They deserve to know." Ballard said. "And..." Kendall began, "...if you don't tell them, I am." The covers flew back and she hopped out of bed and into Kendall's face, "And I'll kick your ass." she spat. "So be it." Kendall said angrily. "I can't." Christina said, "They'll look at me differently." "They already think you're a total bitch..." Ballard said. "But not murderer, never murderer." Christina said. "Look, you have to tell them the story before it comes out another way." Kendall said, "It could get serious." "Okay. Fine, but there's something I haven't told you." Christina said. - - - - - - - - - - I sat down at Roker's Cafe, a new shop that opened sometime after I left. It was different. Everything. I guess life couldn't just stop because I left. People moved on, people died. Building fell, like the old theatre and the old gym, but new gyms and theatres were there. Monuments and symbols of the changes. The changes didn't stop there, though; there was marriage of my former best friend. That's why I was here. Hannah had called me and asked would I mind meeting her downtown. At Roker's. I said yes, even though it took me by surprise. I had been waiting for about fifteen minutes when she came strolling from the bathroom. Hannah walked to the table and sat down, beaming at me. "Sorry, I got a little sick." Hannah said, "Got here and ordered eggs. Then I remember that eggs made me sick." "Eggs make you sick now?" I asked. "Yeah. For a while now." Hannah said, "I'm kinda pregnant." She could have knocked me over with a feather, "Oh...that's..." I stammered, "Wild?" "Yeah." she smiled. "I mean congrats." I chuckled, " Now if only it's not your husband's." Hannah just stared at me, with a shocked expression on her face. "It is your husband's baby, isn't it?" I asked, a little shocked at the suggestion it caused. "I need someone to talk to." Hannah said, "I just figured that...we used to keep each other's secrets." "Until you outed me to everyone." I said quickly. "I know. I'm sorry." Hannah said sadly, "I'm just so confused." "Who is it?" I asked. "Harry." Hannah confessed. I nodded. "I just...I feel guilty. I feel like such a..." "Slut. Whore. You are." I said angrily, "You should feel guilty because I assume your hubby doesn't know." "Zack doesn't know and he's not going to." Hannah whispered. "Right. I've been gone for a while, so is this how you solve your problems?" I asked. "No." Hannah spat, "This is the world we live in." "This is the world you live in." I said, "And, I thought you were better than that." "Better than what? Human? You thought I wasn't flawed just like you!" Hannah said, tears coming to her eyes. "I'm gonna chalk that fact that you just insinuated that I'm anything like you up to hormones." I said angrily. "You've done things like this, with my brother." Hannah said, "Did you think I wouldn't find out about last Prom?" "That was different." I said quickly, "And also none of your business, bitch." I growled. Hannah looked at me, shocked. "Look, you outed me, then the guy that I love berated me. And I said berated because yelling at me sounds so third grade." I explained, "You sold me out for a guy, who it turns out, isn't even gonna be your baby daddy! I can't believe you would bring up my first time ever. What I and Marco had was special to me and to compare it to you and Harry, well, that's just...sad." "I'm sorry. How many times do I have to say it?" Hannah asked. "Until you mean it and you don't just want me to help you. I can't believe you're such a bitch. A manipulative bitch and I seriously hope that Zack finds out and dumps your skanky ass." I said, getting up and throwing money down on the table. I took one last look at Hannah before moving away from the table. I couldn't believe her, to bring up something so personal to me like it was just a piece of hot gossip. I guess to manipulative, slutty bitches it was. - - - - - - - - - - - - Davis pulled up to his home, not entirely ready to face the music. In all his life, all his years fucking Christina, no one made him feel like he felt with Adaen. No one. Davis made a mistake in letting Adaen walk away from him before, he admitted it to himself. Adaen made him better, which was beyond corny but it was what it was. As he climbed out of the truck, his heart dropped when he heard a noise behind the house. It sounded like someone was playing basketball. He walked around the house to see his mom shooting basketball. He stood, watching her, waiting for her to acknowledge his presence. When she did, she just stared at him. "Where in the hell have you been?!" his mother growled. Davis was taken by surprise, "Adaen's." he said. "Oh, so, what, two days of hot gay action and you're back?!" his mother asked, walking to him and slapping him, "You could have been dead." "I'm sorry." Davis cried. "I cannot believe you." She spat, "How long has this been going on?" "Since last year." Davis said. "This is why you and Christina broke up?" his mom fumed. "No, it had nothing to do with him." Davis said, "I...never thought in a million years that I'd fall in love with a guy, but it happened." "Did you have to come out in front of the whole world?" his mom sighed. "I should have done something better, I know, but there is..." "I know the boy you're talking about, hangs out with riff raff, but he is a nice boy." Davis' mother sighed, putting her forehead in her hand, "Look, I can't say that I fully condone your...life change, but you're my son and I will always love you. I want you to bring him over." "What about Dad?" Davis asked. "Both, your father and I, love you." She said, "Now practice this jump shot, you're lacking." She said, walking into the house. "Whew." Davis said, exhaling. He palmed the ball and smiled to himself. This had all gone as he wouldn't have imagined. Something wasn't right. Something was up. - - - - - - - - - - A while ago, Christina, Ballard, and Kendall had gathered the odd assortment of people, Hannah, Harry, Zack, Marco, Davis, and I. We all stood in Christina's apartment, looking around at each other. Zack was holding Hannah, who was looking guiltily between Harry and I. Davis, however, was giving Marco a "Back the fuck off" look and I ignored both guys, opting to stare at Christina, who looked like hell. I also took the time to analyze Kendall, My best friend, whom I hadn't seen since we got back. Ballard chuckled, looking between Marco, Davis and I. I became uneasy at all the tension in the room. "We're all here, what's going on?" Zack asked. "We have something to say." Kendall said nervously, "Go ahead, Christina." "We have to listen to her talk?" I asked. "Can it, fag." She spat. "Bitch." I sneered. "What's the big whoop?" Harry asked. "It's about Julie." Kendall said bluntly. We all got quiet and looked at her. "What about her?" Zack asked. "Yeah." Marco added, "What's going on?" "We know how she died." Ballard said. "How?" I asked. There was a flash of something as Ballard, Kendall, and Christina averted their gazes. "Wha..." Marco asked, looking at all three of them. "What did you do?" I asked, "Kendall, you weren't here, neither were you Ballard. So..." "What are you saying?" Hannah asked, "Are you saying..." "You were there." I frowned, "Or you did it." "I...I..." Christina stuttered. "You bitch!" I said, lunging at her, but Davis reached out and grabbed me. "Adaen!" Marco said, helping Davis out. Once they got me under control, Marco turned to her, "Explain you, now." "I didn't mean to." Christina cried, "It was a girl's night out and Me, Hannah, and Julie were out with some new girls my brother had met. My brother has these pills that, for a lack of better term, calm the beast. We were popping pills and, I accident misplaced my brother's pills and she...the pills she was supposed to take were low-dose." "Why were you two popping pills?" Harry asked. "It wasn't just them." Hannah confessed, "Times get rough." "So, you..." Marco said, trying to make sense of it all. I let an angry laugh slip from my mouth, "I cannot believe you stupid bitches! You killed her! Why didn't you tell the police?" I asked. "My brother told me not to." Christina said, "He explained that I could go to jail." "No! You stupid fucking idiot, your brother would have gone. Stupid slut." I spat. "Adaen, Julie took the pills on her own." Hannah said. "You are seriously no better." I frowned, looking from her to Harry, then down at the floor, "I will keep a lot of secrets, but this isn't one." I said, walking to the door. I stopped when I saw Tyson. "Hey, where ya going?" he asked. "I'm going to tell the cops about Julie." I said, a little afraid of him. "No, you're not." He said, "You know how much time we could get?" "We?" Marco asked. "Yeah, we." Tyson spat, "A bunch of kids poppin pills and they might have been my pills, but you took them without my permission. You're just as much to blame as me." "I'm not Christina, I have an actual brain cell left and I know that I won't get in trouble." I said defiantly. "Yeah, but what about your friends?" he asked. "What friends?" I asked, "They are not my friends. I don't think they're anybody's friends." "Adaen." Kendall said. "No." I said loudly, "You should have told her to do the same thing when you found out!" "Shut up!" Marco bellowed, "This is Julie, not some girl you just met! I can't believe...It doesn't matter, Adaen's right." "Everybody needs to know what happened." I said. "No!" Christina shouted. "Yes." Davis agreed, "You didn't do anything wrong." "You killed your best friend, lil sister." Her brother said, "They want you to suffer." "None of you are going to say anything." A voice said, causing us all to look towards the door. A tall, dark and very handsome man stood there. His chiseled features and muscled body, even through his Armani suit, made me shiver just a little. His eyes were dark and his lips...Oh, his lips. "Brady." Tyson said, his expression and demeanor changing instantly, "What are you doing here?" "Having a little party and I'm not invited?" Brady smiled, looking around, "After all the *party starters* I gave you, I'm not invited? This is concerning me." "Who's he?" Kendall asked. "He's my dealer." Tyson said. "And here I thought we were friends." Brady said. "I knew something smelled." I said casually. Brady smiled, "Oh really? By the way you were staring; I would have figured I smelled pretty good." He said. I was silent and felt Davis staring down at me. I couldn't bear to look back at him. "So, here's what you're going to do, you're going to keep your mouths shut and I'm going to continue my business." Brady smirked. "What makes you think we're going to do that?" Ballard asked. "Well, I would hate for anything to happen." Brady smirked. "Are you threatening us?" I asked. "No, I mean, your sister is pregnant, right? I'd hate for her to miscarry." He said, and then looked at Davis, "Or for something to disable you before you go pro." "You sonuva..." Davis said, trying to get to him, but I put all my weight on him, barely keeping him back. "And that goes for the rest of you." Brady said quickly. "Why would you do this?" Hannah asked, "Well, besides the fact that you sold us the drugs that killed Julie." "I just want to protect my business." Brady smiled. "And they say African Americans are the biggest criminals." I said, "We're nothing like this." "Look," Brady smiled, walking to me and handing me a card, "I've heard about you, how about you give me a call when you're tired of being a good little kid." "So, you're gay now?" Marco fumed. "Nope, I'm an equal opportunist." He said, tossing Kendall and Hannah cards too. "Bastard." Zack said. "See yak, later." Brady said, winking at me as he left. "So, I guess we have no choice." Tyson said. Marco walked over and punched him, "I guess not." He said, leaving quickly. "Ty." Christina said. "I can't believe this." I said, shaking my head, "Do me a favor, next time you do something like this, don't tell me." I said, leaving. "I'm sorry." Christina cried into Kendall's arm. "Davis." Ballard said. "Later." He said leaving. "Us too." Zack said, leaving with Hannah. Harry said nothing; he just shook his head and left. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - As I stood in line, thinking about everything, I couldn't help but feel like something had to be done. It couldn't end like this. Julie was too good of a person to just be remembered that way. Mom and Dad had made it back sometime while our `meeting' was going on. Everybody was so happy and everything was going just great, but Julie was dead and not coming back and I couldn't tell her story. So, here I stood, in line, waiting for the graduation to start. I had talked to my friends and everyone around, but it was useless. This was my day. The lines start moving and I smiled as we walked out into the stadium. People were excited. I stood, a little embarrassed and we sat down, listening to the speeches. It all seemed to go so fast. Then the principal called my name and the world around me faded. I smiled as I walked across stage and was shocked when there was cheering. Lots of cheering. And I made my way across stage, taking my diploma and exiting stage. After that, is anybody's guess. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Three days later... As Davis and I lay in bed, I couldn't shake the feeling of a great accomplishment. I smiled as he rubbed my sides playfully. He had been very touchy feely since graduation. He was jolly, even. The night of graduation, I had gone to parties without him, which he didn't take too kindly to, but I was with Marco. I guess that really didn't help, but Marco needed some partying after the news he'd just heard. I knew something big was on the way and what a better time for it to come, but Summer? It was no time until Kya had her baby and her stupid baby's daddy was coming to town soon. With that great occasion came another great occasion, Davis' birthday. "So, what do you want for birthday?" I asked. "You." Davis answered. I giggled, "Check, what else?" I asked. "You're going to college in Oklahoma and I don't think we'll see each other, so I just want a promise that we'll spend as much time as possible together." Davis said, kissing my forehead. "We will. I promise." I smirked. "Oh, and, umm, my Mom and Dad want to have dinner with your family." Davis said. I sat up, "Oh God, she's going to kill me, isn't she?" I asked. "No. No, she actually seems okay." Davis said, "She just didn't like the way I did it." "So, dinner?" I asked. "Yeah." Davis said. "I'm going to need the world's biggest nap." I said nervously lying back on his arm, "My parents are going to love this." "It'll be okay." Davis smiled. "Nap now." I said cozily. "You lock the door?" Davis asked. "Yeah." I smiled. KNOCK KNOCK "Adaen, open the door." Mom said. "When are they leaving?" Davis asked. "Soon, I hope." I sighed. - - - - - - - - - - Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed. Please give me some feedback because that's how I get started. So, I want you guys to tell me how I'm doing.
