After arriving at school, I caught the look of a few of my friends. Some just turned away while others nodded. I thought it was real silly how one person could effect so many others opinion of me. I shook my head as I went to my locker. I was kind of expecting to see Andrew there, but when I opened it there was a note...which I still have to this day: Hey Sam, I had to run a few errands this morning, but I'll definitely find you at lunch (wink, wink). I just wanted to tell you that yesterday you made me the happiest guy alive today and that I look forward to us being together for a long, long time. Your "person", Andrew I put the note in my backpack so I could put it in a safe place when I got home. As I closed my locker, I figured it would be worth a shot to see how I would be received with my friends. I made my way to the table to see that it was kind of split. Those who were still on talking status with me on the left and those who weren't on the right. There was an open spot next to Lizzy, but I passed it up and sat next to MJ. I couldn't smile on the outside, but I was laughing on the inside as I could see the surprised look on her face. I talked with Carson and MJ until the bell rang. I made my way to 1st period still not saying a word to her. I might as well play the part if I'm going to go down with the ship. By the time lunch came, I was bushed. Having back to back honor's classes really can take a lot out of you especially with projects due. I was at my locker putting my stuff away when I heard a familiar voice. "Hey, long time no see." Andrew said with a devilish grin. "Yea, I know." "So do you want to head off campus for some lunch?" "...I think I'm going to just stay here. I really need to do some thinking." He frowned at me for turning down his offer, but I had something else on my mind. Many things really. "Looks like I'm starving today then." He shrugged as I slammed my locker shut. "Really you can just go enjoy..." "I'll pass. Not like we are going to have all the time in the world to spend with each other anyway, so why not now?" I just shook my head and headed towards the library as he followed. I sat down at an empty table in the back and he plopped down across from me. "So what's bothering you?" "I don't know where to start, Andrew. I have so many problems and I'm not sure how I'm going to handle them." "Lizzy and Mario?" "And you too, kinda." "ME?" The librarian looked our way after Andrew's vocal outburst. "Me?" He said again in a much quieter voice as he blushed from the attention. "Not in a bad way. I guess I'll just get this out now. See this is really the first time that I've ever dated someone..." "Same here..." "So that is going to make this weird. At this age I'm still left in the dark on the way a lot of this stuff works." "Don't worry about it. As long as we work together on it we'll be fine." "Which makes me wonder how you're so comfortable with me being almost three years older than you?" "Age never matters and it's not enough that big of a gap anyway. Don't EVER think that. If you were ten years older it wouldn't matter." "Fine, fine. Well how about...the other issue." I blushed saying that as he look puzzled at first and then caught on to what I was getting at. "Well it was going to have to come up sometime. What's the deal?" "Well have you ever...you know..." He tried to keep a serious face as he began to chuckle. "Oh come on. You're almost eighteen and you can't even get the words out." "I'm sorry...it's just awkward I guess. I've never really talked about THAT with anyone." "Whoa! You never have actually did it?" I shook my head no much to his surprise. "Are you serious? Looks like I made quite the catch then." He laughed as I kicked his shin under the table. "Ouch. Ok, ok. We'll work on it. I'm sure you know the mechanics just like I do so we'll just cross it when we get to it." "That's not the only thing I was worried about..." "Sam, I can wait. If you could wait this long, I'm not in that much of a rush myself...just don't make me wait forever. The hand just isn't cutting it anymore." I blushed as he made a jacking motion with his hand and covered his mouth to keep everyone else from hearing his laughter. "Get a grip. I'm being serious here." "...I know. Calm down. I'm a patient guy...much more mature than you would think. So what else is on your plate?" "I don't know what to do about Mario." I filled him in on the switching schools and the fact that he was avoiding me ever since the incident. "Call me the ultimate optimist, but I really think we can still be friends, but I don't want to put you in the middle." "I already am so it's no biggie. I don't think he's as bad as you make him out to be." I rolled my eyes and dropped the topic. Not like he wouldn't give us something to talk about in the future anyway. "Well and then there's Lizzy and Homecoming." "Are you going to go?" "I have to cut ties before then. That way she can go with someone else and at least forget about me." "Oh you don't want to go with me?" I shot him a "you have to be joking" look as he grinned. "Just joking. Well if she gives you problems..." "No, I'll handle it on my own. As a matter of fact, I just came up with how a plan to do it." I told him and he shook his head at my eagerness to get her out the picture. "So either you must really have the hots for me or you just don't want me jealous." "Both." We laughed as I checked the clock to see we had a few more minutes. We also talked about how I would go about training him for wrestling. That was something I took real serious to make sure that no one would get hurt. I told him that he would have to work hard be prepared to bust his ass to get in. We agreed on arrangements just as the bell rang. We bumped fists and parted ways. The rest of the week went by pretty routine. I began training Andrew for wrestling...and no, we didn't DO anything. Serious stuff as I didn't want him or anyone else getting hurt. He surprised me with how quick he caught on. He would be ready in just a few short weeks. I had marked the last week of September as my gloom to doom week. That Monday I was going to break up with Lizzy and see what happens after. When that week came, I was actually very anxious to see how things played out. Lizzy and I were on the ropes and we became the main topic of discussion both in and out of school with our friends. After many talks with Andrew, I figured the best way to do it would be with her being extremely pissed with me. The way I figured to do that was have someone else break us up. Pretty nasty to have to do, but it served the purpose. She was furious and upset. I would get the silent treatment from the group for almost three weeks, but it worked. Lizzy found someone to go to Homecoming with and instantly her new boytoy was suuuch a better boyfriend than me...well Andrew begged to differ, but that's not the point. We did end up staying friends until this summer as I felt bad about what happened and felt that I at least owed that to her. Her more recent actions against one of my good friends caused my opinion to change. For the record she now knows that I'm gay, but never knew that I was while we were going out. If she did, I'm sure she'd probably blow up my house or something along those lines lol. Next up would be dealing with Mario. This one wouldn't be so easy. That same Monday, I decided to break it to him after our wrestling event. "Hey Mario, I need to talk to you. Pretty important." "Whatever." He said as he leaned against the wall. "You might want to sit down for this." Mike walked in and asked if things were cool between us. Mario nodded him off and we again stood alone. "What?" "I don't know how to say this, but I still want us to be friends. We both know certain things can never happen between us and I just want to go back to how things were before we knew." "You're such a joke." "I've did the best I can trying not to hurt your feelings..." "Doing a great job aren't you? I don't see what I ever saw in you in the first place." "Look I just want to be friends. If you can't accept that offer than I'm not going to bother." I angrily spat. I turned to walk out when he grabbed me forcefully by my arm. I tried to pull away, but he had a pretty tight grip on me. I looked him in the eyes and I honestly could say that he had an empty look. Usually that's not a good sign for those around him. "I know that you're going out with Andrew...and I'm letting you know right now that you're wasting your time. I'm going to do everything in my power to make your life miserable just as you've did mine. I bet my life on it. Your life will become a living hell as long as I can breath." He let go of me and shoved me to the ground. I backed away and slid up to my feet. He stood there with that blank look as I turned and walked out. I went home and decided not to bother Andrew or anyone else with our conversation. I would just have to be weary of him from this point on. It was around the middle of October when we had to switch classes for PE. I was glad really that the swim block was finally over. Andrew and I both signed up for flag football and made sure we were on the same team. He wasn't the fastest guy, but he had good hands (for football...c'mon guys, keep your mind out the gutter) and a strong arm. I had better hands and a stronger arm and it was decided that I would be the qb of our team. That would be fun, but a big change happened that caught me totally off guard. Andrew was ready by then to join wrestling. He requested that his first match be against Mario which I objected to. It fell on deaf ears though as he was granted the match. He did pretty good in the ring, but I was kind of annoyed with Mario making grabs "unintentionally at my boyfriend...and I know Mario let him win because the winner of the match would be given a shot at the Heavyweight Champion: me! A dumb setup and we would have the title match the following Sunday at the pay-per-view event. It was so hard to be happy for Andrew because I saw the writing on the wall. There was no way I could win in the situation. I win and Andrew probably gets pissed. I lose and I lose the belt that I have worked so hard to keep. It was one of the hardest matches I ever had because I was trying to win, yet not injure or hurt him too bad in the process. He would do what many saw unthinkable as he would hit a frog splash from the top rope which knocked me out cold instantly. When I came to, everyone was celebrating in the ring with him as he held up his new prize. I was pretty mad, because I take this stuff pretty serious. If things don't work out with college (my major is computer engineering; my minor coaching), I plan to go into training to become a pro wrestler. I didn't go out with them as they headed to Red Robin (a burger joint if you haven't heard of it) to celebrate. Andrew was pretty disappointed, but they went on and had fun. Mario didn't go as he walked into the changing room while I packed up my gear. "So you're that jealous you won't even go out with your boy?" He asked with a grin on his face. "You know, I'm not going to let this get to me. You may be able to get to him, but not me. I'm going to be the better man and just walk away." I gathered my stuff and headed outside when he said something that got me. "You think this one was good? Just wait for my next trick. I'm not letting you off the hook this easy asshole." I looked back to see him laughing his way up the stairs. I shook my head and walked home pretty depressed. Andrew called when he got back and we talked for a little bit. It was so hard for me not to sound depressed about him beating me, but he didn't bring it up that much thankfully. Things were pretty normal between us until the week of my birthday. Mario would again have a trick up his sleeve and this one was a doozy. November of 2003 would not be a good month for the Andrew/Sam bond... ***************************************************************************** And so ends another chapter. I guess I let the weather (steady snow) effect my writing because I don't really like this chapter too much. To each his own I guess. So with my 17th birthday on the horizon, Mario had plans to ruin the mood and I must say he did a good job. Funny how someone can just ruin things for other people and not have a heart. How would I respond to Andrew being the new champ? How would he handle it? What happened at my b-day party that caused a rift and what role did Mario play in the big picture? Find out in the next chapter. A few questions answered... 1 - I have FINALLY signed up for MSN messenger and added everyone that has sent an invite. I'll mostly be on it during school these next two weeks while I'm working on my typing my finals and studying. 2 - Some people have asked why Andrew and I are no longer together now. If I told you that would ruin the story wouldn't it? 3 - I am twenty for those of you who have asked. I have actually got a few "friendly passes" from those of you in who are from Colorado, but I'm not ready to go back on the market anytime soon. I'm content with how things are for now. Chapter 6 - Andrew/Mario vs Andrew/Me??
