Finding Dylan

~*~*~*~
Chapter One

I was sitting on my bed bored, it wasn't supposed to be like this, my best friend Dylan was supposed to spend the night, but he called and cancelled on me earlier, so now I am left trying to entertain myself. Friday nights are usually Dylan night; we almost always spend the night together, usually at my house, but sometimes at his. We also hang out a lot during the week and sometimes we even make a whole weekend of it. Dylan is my best friend, not just because we spend so much time together, but because we share out entire lives together, we know everything about each other, we share everything we have, including our selves.

I was ready to settle for a night of random chats online when I heard my bedroom door open and before I could turn around I began to speak, "Mom, I have told you a million times not to just walk..." I cut myself off as I turned and saw Dylan walking in. "I thought you weren't coming over tonight Dyl," I said.

He looked at me with a look of sadness on his face that I have only seen on a few occasions before; it was a look that told me he was in great pain. I grew concerned unsure what was wrong with my friend and moved quickly to him and gave him a hug. "What's wrong Dyl, you look so sad?" I asked.

He hugged me back and just held onto me and began to cry. "I wanted to come over, I needed to tell you something, but I got scared," he cried into my shoulder. "We have been friends forever and I love you so much Cob," he continued.

"I love you too buddy, you know that. But what's wrong, why are you crying?" I asked as I pulled back some and looked into his eyes. There was such pain in him, pain I had never seen before. I couldn't take it anymore, seeing my friend like this brought me to tears too. "What's wrong Dyl; just tell me what's wrong?" I said as I pulled him back into a tight hug.

Dylan sat down on the floor where we were standing and wiped some of the tears from his eyes. He looked up at Jacob and smiled. "I love you Cob, that's all, I just love you so damn much. We're always together, we always fool around, we're always the first good morning and the last good night," he said.

Jacob sat there with his friend confused. Everything Dylan was saying were good things, nothing to be sad over. It took Jacob a minute to respond. "I don't get it Dyl why is that making you cry?" he asked as he looked at his friend with a clearly confused look on his face.

"Because I love you Cob, but you're not mine," he told his friend. Dylan looked away from his friend and continued, "Any day you could find someone to love and then where would I be?" he asked.

Jacob pulled Dylan's face towards him. "Listen here Dyl. No matter what happens, I will always love you, I will never leave you, we will be friends forever, NOTHING will ever change that," he said and then leaned in and kissed his friend gently on the lips.

Dylan began to cry again as he turned away once more. "You may always love me Cob, but someone else would have you," he said. "I couldn't handle that, I wouldn't be able to live with someone else kissing you and holding you, it would kill me," he said through tears.

"Are you saying you don't want to be friends anymore?" asked Jacob as he too began to cry heavily.

Dylan stopped crying and looked at Jacob with a look of deep hurt on his face. "How could you ever think that, how could you ever think I wouldn't want to be your friend anymore," he asked. I don't want less of you Cob, I want more. I want to be the one thing that you don't want me to be. I want to be your boyfriend," he said.

"Dylan, you know that can't be we've been over this, what if we became boyfriends and then broke up later, it could ruin our friendship," he said. "Your friendship is more important to me than anything and I don't want to do anything to hurt that," he said.

Jacob and Dylan discovered sex together three years ago when they were both twelve. It started just with the two enjoying a jerk off session together but curiosity quickly escalated it to the two boys jerking each other off. About a week after the first time each boy touched the other, Dylan leaned down and lowered his mouth over his friend's penis, a gesture that was quickly returned by Jacob.

Their playtime set off research by the two boys to see what else the two could do together. Many visits to porn websites and discussions between Jacob and his older brother left the two boys with a wealth of knowledge about sex and the things they could do together.

On the final night of Jacob's twelfth year, the boys reached the final level of sex. This was Jacob's night so he took control, Dylan would get his chance to be the one entering his friend, just not on this night. As Dylan enjoyed the feelings that came over him, it was at this time that he knew he was in love with his friend. He wouldn't bring it up for another six months, but he wanted Jacob to be his boyfriend.

They had discussed it several times, and each time at Jacob's insistence they decided that being best friends was where they should be. They didn't need the new title and added pressure that would come with being boyfriends. Neither boy had interest in anyone else, they we happy enough spending their intimate moments with each other.

"We never have to break up Cob, we can be together forever," he said to his friend. "I never want to be with anyone else, you're all I ever need," he finished.

Jacob sat there for a moment contemplating. He looked around his room at nothing in particular unsure what to say next. Moments turned to tens of seconds and then minutes. Finally after about ten minutes of no response he looked into his friends eyes once more and tears slowly dripped down his cheeks. "I'm sorry Dyl..." before he could finish Dylan jumped up and headed towards the door now crying harder than Jacob had ever seen him cry.

Jacob jumped and race past him and blocked the door. "Let me finish Dyl, please," he asked of his friend. Dylan stood there still crying, giving Jacob the chance to finish what he was saying. "As I was saying. I'm sorry Dyl, sorry for making you go through this, sorry for letting you love me but at the same time not letting you be in love with me. I am scared of losing you if we broke up, but you're right, we could be together forever and the only way to know is to try. If I continue to say no, than I might let the one true love of my life slip away," he said to Dylan who face of pain very quickly turned to one of great happiness.

"You really mean it? We can be boyfriends Cob," he asked as he was so happy he was nearly jumping on Jacob. "I love you so much Cob, I never want to let you go ever again," he said as he leaned in and gave Jacob a deep kiss on the lips.

The two boys moved to Jacobs's bed and lay down snuggling up with each other, they had remained like this for over an hour before a knock was heard on the door and before he could respond his mother came in. "Dylan, your mom called and wanted to know when you were heading back home," she said.

"MOM, how many times do I need to ask you to not come in until I say so," Jacob asked angrily as he and Dylan sat up. Who knows what we might have been doing in here, geeze," he finished.

Jacobs mother has known her son was gay since she walked in on him and Dylan a year ago, she was very supportive of her son as was her husband. She allowed the two boys to continue their relationship as long as they agreed to be safe and to be careful where they exhibited their intimacy. She had told them not to kiss in public purely for their own safety.

She tried her best to respect her son's privacy, but occasionally she would forget to wait for a response from her son when she knocked on his bedroom door and she would apologize when she did.

"I'm sorry Jacob, I forgot. Dylan, go ahead and give your mom a call and Jacob and Luke can walk you home," she said before leaving the room.

Dylan grabbed Jacob's phone and called his mom and told her he would be home shortly. The smiling boy grabbed his new boyfriends hand and dragged him out of the room and pulled him into the living room where he announced to Jacob's family, "Guess what everyone, we're finally boyfriends."

Luke, Jacobs older brother looked up from his book and smiled, as his eyes drifted back down to the book he said "It's about damn time" to which Dylan smiled and Jacob blushed. The parents gave broad smiles and watched the two boys as they stood their holding hands smiling.

The three boys headed out to make the two block walk to Dylan's house. They held hands the whole way. When they got there they kissed outside the front door and promised to hang out the next day. "Dress nice when you come over tomorrow, we can go on our first date," Jacob told Dylan. The two hugged and parted ways.

I suppose now would be a good time to tell you about Jacob and Dylan.

Jacob is fifteen and just wrapped up his freshman year of high school. He lives at home with his dad, mom, and older brother Luke. He has been out to his family since that day about a year ago when his mom walked in on him and Dylan having some fun time. His family has been very supportive including his big brother who is there to listen to him any time he needs to talk, if not for Dylan, his brother would probably be his best friend.

The two met way back in first grade and were quick friends who have been near inseparable ever since. In elementary school they would dump their lunch bags on the table and split up their lunches, sometimes even eating a half of two different sandwiches. They played little league on the same teams and many years were the short stop and second baseman. Neither had ever showed any interest in girls or even at having other friends. It was at the urging of Dylan's mom that they even made any other friends, two friends who remain so today, but nowhere near as close as they are to each other.

Dylan is also fifteen but about three months younger. He has a younger brother and a younger sister along with his parents. He sat down and told his parents he was gay the day Jacob's mom caught them, just in case she said anything. His mom was supportive but his dad wasn't at first, but after a few weeks he came around.

When they were around nine they began to call each other by nicknames. As you have probably figured out by now, Jacob calls his friend Dyl. The nickname came about because Dylan loves dill pickles. Jacob's nick name, Cob, came about as something only Dylan could call him. Most people already called him Jake, so one day Dylan decided he would call him Cob.

Back home, Jacob was in bed nearly asleep. His text message alert went off, he picked up his phone and looked at the time. "3:00am, what the hell," he thought to himself. He checked the message, it was from Dylan. "Come open your door now, I'm outside" the message read. Dylan ran downstairs and opened the door. "What the hell are you doing here Dyl," he asked as he pulled his boyfriend inside and closed the door.

"I couldn't be away from you," he said. "So I grabbed some clothes and left my parents a note and ran over here," he finished.

"They're going to kill you," he said. "Come on; let's get upstairs and in bed, its late."

The two climbed the stairs and went into Jacob's room and closed the door, they immediately stripped off their clothes and climbed into bed as they had many times before, this time they went to sleep together for the first time as boyfriends.

Authors note: Thanks for reading. This is my first time writing a story, I hope you liked it. There will be more coming in the story; this is a short introduction to the characters and their story. Most of the story is fiction. I don't view myself as a good writer, so I hope I do at least a half way decent job for you.

I hope the future chapters will be longer and I hope to submit new chapters no less often than once a month, though I hope I can write quicker than that.

Any feedback would be welcome and any suggestions for the storyline will be considered.
