I couldn't see anything in the pitch black darkness. My senses were in overdrive and I couldn't figure out what had just happened. I could smell blood all around me. I wasn't sure if it was mine or... I can't allow myself to think that thought. I couldn't have... "Eric...ERIC!" My head was pounding as I screamed his name, but the pain was nothing to me when I didn't hear an answer. I wanted to cry, but I knew I had to stay calm and figure things out. I was hunched over on the steering wheel, but it was too dark to see around me. I allowed myself to feel if I had any injuries anywhere besides my head and I felt nothing. Convinced I wasn't hurt too bad, I slowly allowed myself to sit up. Right away there was a excruciating pain in the front of my head and knew where the blood was coming from. But that wasn't my priority; I had to make sure Eric was ok. I felt around the car for the button for the inside lights. Praying they would work and I could see what was going on. After what seemed like forever, the lights came on. It took me a bit to see in the sudden brightness, but I wasn't prepared for what I saw. Eric wasn't beside me. "ERIC...ERIC! SAY SOMETHING LET ME KNOW YOU'RE..." I couldn't even get the word alive out of my mouth. He has to be alive: there was no other way around it. I started looking around me franticly for any signs of him. That's when I saw that the passenger door was gone. Completely off the hinges. "Oh God no NOOO! ERIC!!" Silence. I listen as hard as I could but there was nothing but the dead silence of night. I was on the verge of breaking down but I had to keep it together, I had to get out of the car to find him. I remembered I was in my dad's car and he always kept a flash light in the glove compartment. I reached around the passenger side, opening the glove compartment, pulling out the flash light. I turned it on and flashed it around me, off into the woods. I couldn't see any sides of him anywhere. Maybe he left to get help. Maybe he is okay. With new hope in my mind, I started looking for a way to get out of the car. The left side of the car door was jammed, so that meant I had to crawl out of the passenger side. The front end of the car, in more or less words, almost was pinning me in. But I was able to crawl my way out. I flashed the flashlight around the area some more. We were deep off into the woods and the road was at least a mile away and we had run right into a large tree. I started to walk away from the car a bit to get a better sense of how far away I was from the road. I was about twenty feet away when I saw him. Laying face down on the ground. "911 Emergency how may I help you?" "Yes, I just found two teenage boys by the road here; they have been in a bad car accident." "Are either of them hurt, Sir?" "One has a pretty bad gash on his head, the other is unconscious and barely breathing." "Okay Sir, we are sending help out right way, were exactly are you?" "About 3 miles up on the old curve road along the cliff banks. You better hurry, this one here looks bad be might not make it." "We are sending someone right out, they will be there in another 10 minutes. Tell me, is the one with the head injury, is he conscious?" "Yes, I saw him carrying the badly injured boy into town. I'm a truck driver and I was heading down when I saw them." "Can he tell you anything that happened? Any information at all?" "Sorry ma'am I have been trying to talk to him since I found them. He won't let go of the boy and he not saying anything on "You can't die, you can't die." Over and over." "Thank you Sir, I just got word the ambulance is close by, do you see them?" "Yes, I see the lights coming up the room and I hear the sirens. " "Okay, I'm going to leave you with him okay." "Thank you ma'am." "You can't die, Eric please, you can't die, I'm sorry, please just live."
